Taylor Swift Gives ‘Life-Changing’ $100,000 Bonuses, Handwritten Letters to Eras Tour Truck Drivers

Taylor Swift will hopefully be able to make some of her crew members’ wildest dreams come true.

On Wednesday, sources confirmed to PEOPLE that Swift — who is in the midst of playing six sold-out shows at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium — recently gave bonuses totaling over $55 million to everyone (from her dancers to riggers, sound technicians and catering, among others) working on her massive show.

The pop megastar, 33, also presented each of her Eras Tour truck drivers $100,000 bonuses, CNN confirmed.

According to Michael Scherkenbach, founder and CEO of Denver, Colorado-based Shomotion trucking company and one of the trucking companies Swift used for her tour, the “generous” amount shocked the staff.

“The typical amount is $5,000 to $10,000 each. So this large amount is unbelievable,” he told the outlet.

“These men and women, they live on the road. They sleep during the day and work all night,” he added. “It’s a grueling task. They leave their families, young children for weeks. For Taylor’s tour, they’ve been away from home for 24 weeks.”

Scherkenbach noted how “life-changing” Swift’s bonuses could be for the truck drivers, allowing some to use the $100,000 for a down payment on a home or college tuition .

“Look, fair wage doesn’t put you in a position to buy a home. But this opens up that possibility,” he explained.

The bonuses came with another surprise — a visit from Scott Swift, Taylor’s father.

“The Taylor family is always present and kind to our drivers but Scott generally doesn’t lead the meeting,” said Scherkenbach. “Scott gave a speech saying that he had discussed this with Taylor and they thought that it was only right that everybody received a bonus. Taylor insisted on writing a handwritten note to each driver and [added] a wax seal on the envelope with her monogram.”

While each enveloped featured the amount the truck drivers were receiving, they weren’t trying to look at the amount. However, Scherkenbach said that “one looked and thought it said $1,000, another driver saw it as $10,000 and then the third said ‘Well this has to be a joke!’”

Each check came with its corresponding tax document, too.

The Grammy winner kicked off her tour in March in Glendale, Arizona, dazzling fans with a career-spanning 44-song setlist. Since then, her concerts have drawn famous friends and faces including Miles Teller, Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon, Gigi Hadid, Paul Rudd and more.

On Thursday, the “Lavender Haze” singer announced a new set of Eras Tour dates in the U.S. and Canada for fall 2024.

During this leg, Swift will head to Miami, New Orleans and Toronto, kicking off Oct. 18 and wrapping Nov. 23.

Just when things seem like they couldn’t get any worse for Jennifer Lopez, one of her ex-husband’s has weighed-in concerning the breakdown of her marriage with Ben Affleck.

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’ll know that JLo and Affleck’s union was rumored to have been floundering for the better part of 2024. After much speculation it was confirmed last month that the superstar couple would be parting ways.

Lopez’s decision to file for divorce from Gone Girl star Affleck – on the second anniversary of their 2022 Las Vegas wedding, no less – brought to an end a sorry saga that had fans everywhere guessing for the past few months.

When Lopez and Affleck first reunited – the pair were engaged back in the early 2000s, you may recall – it looked for all the world that they were set for the fairytale ending denied them nigh-on 20 years ago.

They had matured emotionally, it was said, they had learned the lessons they needed to learn, they had separated, gone out into the world, and somehow found the path back to one another. What could possibly go wrong?

Well, unfortunately quite a bit. Earlier this year gossip began to pick up pace regarding the idea that Lopez and Affleck were struggling to make things work. Affleck, so said the rumors, had moved out of the couple’s plush marital home in Beverly Hills, while both parties were spotted without their wedding bands on.

The writing was on the wall, most will agree, though it wasn’t until Lopez filed for divorce in late August that fans finally got a definitive answer as to what the future holds for ‘Bennifer’.

For Affleck, this will mark his second divorce. For Lopez, this will be the fourth time she has terminated such a union.

Interestingly, JLo’s first husband, Ojani Noa, has now spoken out, recalling the stresses associated with being together with a star like Lopez.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: “We would have ­disagreements in the car and then 20 minutes later, we’d have to sit and pretend everything was fine.”

The young couple met in Miami in 1997. Noa was a waiter at the time, while Lopez was working with Jack Nicholson and Michael Caine on the film Blood and Wine.

“We started talking about marriage within months of seriously dating and I asked her to marry me about a year and a half after we met,” Noa explained.

“I was the first, the pioneer. I was there at the beginning of her career supporting her, ­dealing with her anxieties and insecurities.”

As for their break-up, Noa pulled no punches when offering his thoughts.

“I feel when she got what she wanted, I was no longer needed,” he said.

“I put a lot of time and effort into loving her. But when you’re with someone, you have to spend quality time with them and not think about being on camera.”

Tito Jackson of the Jackson 5 has passed away, according to a post written by his sons TJ, Taj and Taryll on Instagram late Sunday. He was 70.

“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson is no longer with us,” they wrote.

The post continued: “We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being. Some of you may know him as Tito Jackson from the legendary Jackson 5, some may know him as ‘Coach Tito’ or some know him as ‘Poppa T.’ Nevertheless, he will be missed tremendously. It will forever be ‘Tito Time’ for us. ”

“Please remember to do what our father always preached and that is ‘Love One Another.’ We love you Pops,” the statement concluded.

Jackson was the third of nine children born to Joe and Katherine Jackson and was inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 as a member of the legendary Jackson 5. The family singing group produced several No. 1 hits in the 1970s including “ABC,” “I Want You Back” and “I’ll Be There.”

Tito, Jackie and Marlon have been performing as The Jacksons, with upcoming concerts scheduled for Oct. 25 in Atlantic City, New Jersey and Nov. 1 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Jackson’s death was first reported on Sunday by Entertainment Tonight.

Connor McCaffery might just be the former University of Iowa player’s biggest fan.

Caitlin Clark is congratulating her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, on his new coaching gig.

Butler University in Indiana announced Sept. 16 that McCaffery has been hired as an assistant coach for its men’s basketball team.

Clark reacted to the news with a congratulatory message on her Instagram stories, which McCaffery reshared.

“Yayy!! So happy for you,” the Indiana Fever superstar wrote while sharing a Butler post regarding McCaffery’s new role, adding multiple hearts to her message.

Prior to joining Butler, McCaffery served as a basketball development coordinator for the Indiana Pacers during the most recent NBA season.

Clark previously wrote a loving message for McCaffery in July when he celebrated his birthday.

Clark shared a series of four black-and-white photos, featuring the couple laughing, hugging on the basketball court, taking a mirror picture and posing for a selfie.

“Happy Birthday Con! Celebrating you is easy 🙂 thankful to have someone as selfless and as loving as you in my life,” Clark wrote with a black heart emoji.

“May this be the year you finally find a way to outshoot me 😉 Love you always,” she finished the caption with a teary-eyed and white heart emoji.

McCaffery had an endearing response to the birthday tribute, commenting, “And I’ll keep letting you win those shooting contests!!!!!”

He has a famous father

Connor McCaffery is the son of Fran McCaffery, who’s worked as the men’s basketball head coach at the University of Iowa since 2010.

The senior McCaffery even coached his son during the younger McCaffery’s Hawkeyes career.

He was a double threat for the Hawkeyes

In addition to playing basketball under his dad, Connor McCaffery also played for the Hawkeyes baseball team, a feat that wasn’t easy to balance with his other passion.

Rick Heller, the University of Iowa’s baseball coach, raved about McCaffery’s potential at the plate, but noted to Hawk Central, “It’s just really hard for a guy to play Power Five basketball in the Big Ten, where it’s physical and you get beat up, then have to show up 20 games into the baseball season and be ready to go.”

A change of Pace(rs)

After graduating from the University of Iowa in 2023, McCaffery took a job with the Indiana Pacers.

“I’ll play dummy defense, run the scout team, help coaches on film stuff, help on video projects if they need, scouting reports if they need,” he told the Des Moines Register of his career move. “It’s kind of all-hands on deck, whatever you’re asked to do, be ready to do it.”

What better way to carve out a path that could lead him to follow in his father’s coaching footsteps.

“It’s a way in,” he continued. “It’s an entry-level job. You’ve got to work hard and work your way up. That’s obviously what I want to do.”

In September 2024, he joined Butler University as an assistant coach.

Instagram official romance

While neither Clark nor McCaffery have publicly discussed how or exactly when they got together, the couple went Instagram official back in August 2023, when Clark shared a set of photos of the pair cuddled up on a boat.

“Best end to summer,” she wrote in the caption.

He waited until Jan. 22, Clark’s birthday, to feature her on his Instagram.

“Happy Birthday 22 🤞🏼🤍,” he wrote, referring both to her age and the number on her jersey. “Wish I was there to celebrate with you — you deserve the best day ❤️ Golden Bday / T Swift year will be the best yet. With all that you’ve already accomplished, there is so much more in store for you and your special self. I admire you in every way and I love you.”

Their height difference

At 6 feet tall, Clark is taller than most women, at least those who don’t play basketball.

But her 26-year-old beau towers over her. McCaffery stands 6 inches taller than his girlfriend.

She’s not the only Hawkeye he’s rooting for

Clark and Iowa defeated UConn on April 5 to punch their ticket to the NCAA women’s championship. Iowa’s faceoff against South Carolina on April 7, however, resulted in a tough 87-75 loss — but McCaffery had Clark’s back as he posted a photo of Clark to his Instagram story with the caption, “My GOAT @caitlinclark22.”

McCaffery is still keeping an eye on Iowa sports, as his little brother and former teammate, 24-year-old Patrick McCaffery, is still a part of the Hawkeyes men’s basketball team.

McCaffery was by Clark’s side at the 2024 WNBA draft on April 15, where she was the top draft pick and selected first by the Indiana Fever. He reposted Clark’s Instagram story, which featured two sweet photos of the pair sitting side by side, with Clark’s caption: “my fav person in the world.”

And Clark’s draft pick status wasn’t the only thing McCaffery celebrated. A fan posted on X asking to see McCaffery’s reaction to Clark’s draft day outfit, a matching white Prada double satin skirt and shirt.
