Ricky Gervais reveals the risky Golden Globes jokes he’d have told about Justin Timberlake and jailed P Diddy if he were hosting 2025 ceremony
Ricky Gervais has teased what what he might have said if he were hosting the 2025 Golden Globes.
The comedian, 63, known for his bold and often divisive humour, has hosted the prestigious awards five times in the past.
This year, however, the job has fallen to fellow comic Nikki Glaser, who will front Sunday’s ceremony.
Despite stepping aside, Gervais took to X to share the jokes he had lined up, giving fans a taste of the monologue he would have delivered.
Posting a selfie of himself in the bath, he wrote: ‘Sat in the bath wondering about what I would say if I were hosting The Golden Globes on Sunday. It’s been a pretty good year for material’
The Office creator then shared some of his would-be material, leaving followers to imagine the sharp and controversial set he is famous for.

He penned: ‘Hello, and welcome to the 82nd Golden Globe awards. What a year it’s been.
‘Hundreds of entertainers jumped at the chance to go to The Vatican to meet The Pope. Many from Hollywood.
‘Obviously they weren’t content with only being part of the 2nd biggest pedo ring in the world…’
He continued: ‘Justin Timberlake was convicted of [drunk driving]. If he’d have gone to jail he’d have heard the words ‘Sexy Back’ a lot more often.’
Ricky then turned his attention on Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, writing: ‘Kevin Hart said that being at one of Diddy’s parties was uncomfortable, as he wouldn’t leave him alone. Eventually he had to shout ‘Imma Midget, not a child.’
