Caitlin Clark established herself as one of the best players in the WNBA in her rookie season, and ESPN’s latest rankings back this up.
Ahead of the 2025 WNBA season, the media giant released its fantasy rankings, which are based on “ESPN’s default women’s basketball settings which award one point for each point, assist and rebound, a bonus point for making a 3-pointer, and two points each for blocks and steals.”
Unsurprisingly, Clark is listed at No. 2 on the list, only behind WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces. This ranking came after a big first year that saw the Indiana Fever playmaker average 19.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 8.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.7 blocks per game.
Clark also led the whole league in assists (337) and 3-point field goals made (122).

After ESPN dropped the fantasy rankings, several fans couldn’t help but comment about how incredible Caitlin Clark was in her rookie year. Some even reminded the WNBA how she was snubbed from the Olympic team despite her performance throughout the campaign.
“Remember when yall kept the #2 ranked player off the Olympic team? Same,” a commenter wrote. Another one said, “Please explain how Caitlin Clark wasn’t on the Olympic team again.”
“So the number 2 player not good enough for the Olympics but the 40th player is?” a supporter added, referring to Diana Taurasi who was 40th on the list.
A Clark fan exclaimed, “Caitlin Clark is the best player in the WNBA dont kid yourself.”

Others, however, complained about Clark’s ranking and emphasized that the Fever star isn’t better than the likes of Sabrina Ionescu, Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, to name a few.
Nonetheless, it should be pointed out that the ranking is based on a player’s statistical production.
“Please. Clark is NOT better than Stewie, phee, or ionescu,” a social media user wrote.
Another poster stated, “They glazing Clark is not better than ionescu.”
“Clark is NOT better than Stewart,” a critic added.
It will definitely be interesting to see how Clark performs in the 2025 season, but sure enough, expectations are high that she’ll be able to elevate her game.
