The 37-year-old won the Olympic gold in Paris a few weeks back, when he defeated Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(3), 7-6(2) in the final. He thus became only the fifth player in history to complete the career Golden Slam and joined Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, and Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams.

Following this, the Serb withdrew from the Masters 1000 events in Montreal and Cincinnati.

Fans reacted to this concern with different views. One of the fans said the Serb would lose in the opening round and will be mocked by the tennis fraternity which reignite the spark inside him to win again.

“He is gonna lose us open in the first rounds. The press and twitter will troll him and call him finished that will motivate him to win again lol.”

Another fan said that the defending US Open champion is capable of stepping it up like he did at the Olympics.

“Dont worry. If he wants he will level up his game again. But just if he wants like he did in the Olympics.”

Here are some other reactions from the fans:

“With the Olympic gold and the subsequent celebrations, the residuum of his PTSD syndromes are being released and healed. Novak will do better for the rest of the year and in 2025. Be a fearless warrior (like Novak), not a fearful worrier, my friend!” a fan opined.

“He will be as high as a kite at the US Open,” a fan said.

“He’ll either lose in R1 or plays so carefree that he kicks everyone’s a**,” another fan opined.

“He sacrificed the best years of his life and he achieved everything. He can now don’t give a c**p on any tournament and be in clubs and celebrate what’s important for him. He earned it,” a fan said.

While speaking to the media after his win, Novak Djokovic mentioned how the semifinals impeded him from his gold of winning and Olympic gold.

“The fact that I win the bronze in the first Olympic games and ever since then failed to win the medal and played three out of four Olympic games in semifinals and couldn’t overcome that obstacle.”

He then said how at the age of 37 against an in-form Carlos Alcaraz, who according to the Serb is probably the best player in the world, and taking everything else into account, this was likely the biggest sporting achievement of his career.

“Now at age 37 with 21-year-old (Alcaraz) that is probably the best player in the world right now winning Roland Garros and Wimbledon back-to-back and playing incredible tennis, just when I take everything in consideration, this probably is the biggest sporting success I’ve ever had in my career.”

After losing 1000 ranking points in Cincinnati, Novak Djokovic is slated to play at the US Open next where he will kick off his run for a record 25th Grand Slam title.
