The presidential debate between Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris is finally upon us, and the ladies of The View are offering their predictions on how things are going to go during tonight’s broadcast.
Alyssa Farah Griffin, who worked for the Trump administration until she resigned in 2020, told the panel that Harris has “more to lose but also more to gain.”
“The person who will emerge the victor in this debate is the person who leaves Americans thinking, ‘I understand your hardships and I have a plan to solve them,’” she said, noting that Harris should approach the debate like a job interview by focusing on why she is right for the position as opposed to why Trump isn’t right for the position.
As for how her former boss will do, Griffin expects him to fall off the wagon by the end of the broadcast.
“Donald Trump, I tend to think melts down after about 15 minutes. He can start strong but he tends to diminish,” she said. “It’s a 90-minute debate so there’s a chance that he starts strong. I’d pay attention to how he is in the back half of it. That’s when he starts getting into handicaps and golf and all that.”
Meanwhile, Sunny Hostin said Harris has a “really tough job ahead of her” as she’ll be facing off against a “menace” who “doesn’t normally behave.” According to Hostin, the Democratic nominee will have to remain calm, cool and collected instead of going into “attack mode” so that she doesn’t fall into the trope of the “angry Black woman.”

Whoopi Goldberg, for her part, is confident that Harris is looking at Trump as nothing more than a “distraction.”
“What I want from her is to not deal with him. Because I don’t believe 28% of the folks don’t know who she is. She’s been around for four years,” she said. “I understand you may not know what her particular policies are and that’s what this is about. That’s why she is doing this. He is a distraction and she knows it. We know it.”
