Evelyn Matthews found herself standing alone at the altar, her heart racing in her chest. The magnificent stained-glass windows of St. Augustine’s Cathedral filled the space with rich colors, creating beautiful patterns on the shiny wooden pews. Her father, Harold Thompson, stood next to her, his serious eyes locked on the elaborate entrance, waiting for James Whitaker to show up at any moment.

Five years ago, Evelyn had envisioned this day—the peak of her love story with James. They met in college, and right away, there was a strong and profound connection between them. James was everything she had ever dreamed of: caring, loyal, and deeply in love with her. Evelyn’s engagement had come about quickly, and now, with family and friends all around her, she was filled with a deep sense of joy and excitement.

As the minutes passed and James still didn’t show up, a sense of unease began to creep in. Having her father around only made her anxiety worse. Harold had always disapproved of James, seeing him as an unpredictable artist who couldn’t offer the stable future that Evelyn deserved. Evelyn had always felt the weight of his disapproval looming over their relationship, yet she firmly believed that James could conquer any challenge that came their way.

“You need to leave this church right now and not come back.” Do you get what I’m saying, kid?Harold shot James a fierce look, his voice resonating down the hallway. They were in the men’s dressing room, while Evelyn was preparing in the next room over.

“I’m not a boy, sir.” I’m a guy, and I really care about your daughter. I won’t leave her behind. “It’s our wedding day,” James urged, his eyes filled with a desperate need for understanding.

Harold’s expression contorted with disdain. “I’ve never been a fan of you two being together, and I won’t allow this to go on.” My daughter deserves to be with someone who is dependable and has goals for the future. Can you hear me? I know people in influential positions, and I also have ties with a few others. I have the power to turn your life into a nightmare. “If you don’t choose to leave on your own, I’ll ensure you go one way or another.”

James had held firm, yet the heaviness of Harold’s words proved overwhelming. James cast a final, sorrowful glance at Evelyn before he hurried out of the church. He had left, and Evelyn was left feeling heartbroken and bewildered, struggling to understand why he had walked away from her on what was supposed to be their special day.

Though years have gone by, the ache from that day still lingers on. Evelyn tied the knot with another man, Daniel Collins, all while her father kept a close watch over the proceedings. Their marriage was built more on convenience and what society expected than on genuine love. Daniel was rich and well-connected, giving Evelyn the kind of life her father had always dreamed for her. Lily, their daughter, filled their lives with joy amidst the ups and downs of their relationship.

Even though she seemed happy on the outside, Evelyn always carried the memory of James in her heart. The lingering unanswered questions and unresolved emotions formed an invisible barrier, separating her from the life she had created. She frequently pondered whether James had discovered happiness or if he looked back with regret on leaving her at the altar.

Fifty years later, Evelyn was 75, enjoying a peaceful life in the Rosedale Park Historic District, one of Detroit’s most esteemed neighborhoods. She filled her days nurturing her garden, cherishing moments with her three grandchildren, and pondering the journey of her life. She enjoyed peaceful mornings, sipping tea on her porch and watching the children play in the park below. Yet, even within her tranquil routine, memories of James would sometimes bubble up, bringing with them a blend of nostalgia and yearning.

Today was just one of those days. Evelyn settled into her porch chair, feeling the soft breeze playfully stir the leaves of the ancient oak tree next to her. She cradled a beloved book in her hands, a cherished collection of classic literature that had captured her heart through the years. The sun warmed her face, and for just a moment, she let herself enjoy the beauty of the simple moment.

Out of nowhere, the sharp sound of the mail slot snapping open broke her peaceful moment. Ben, the mailman, came over with a big smile on his face, radiating cheerfulness.

“Hi there, Mrs. Thompson!”“He greeted with a loud voice.”

“Oh, my.” “You scared me,” Evelyn said, her hand instinctively gripping her cup of tea a little tighter.

Ben chuckled gently, extending a neatly folded envelope. “I apologize, ma’am.” I’ve got a letter for you. It seems like someone really put in the effort to write it by hand—pretty nice, right? These days, not a lot of folks do that anymore.

Evelyn picked up the envelope, her interest sparked. As she held it in her hands, her heart raced with excitement. The handwriting was clearly recognizable—it belonged to James. Her breath hitched in her throat as she read the name beautifully written across the front: “James Whitaker.”

“You need to leave this church right now and not come back.” Do you get what I’m saying, kid?“The words lingered in her thoughts, stirring up a wave of memories from that unforgettable day.”

Evelyn took a seat, her tea left untouched, as she gently opened the envelope with care. Inside, there was just a single sheet of paper, the ink a bit faded yet still readable. James’s handwriting was just as she recalled—distinctive and easily recognizable.

    Dear Evelyn,

I’m not sure if my message will bring you joy, but I’ve been meaning to reach out. Not a single day passes without you crossing my mind. On our wedding day, your father made threats towards me, and I was just a young person feeling frightened. I knew I shouldn’t have listened, but I did anyway, and I ended up running away. I arrived in California with just the clothes I was wearing.

I haven’t married or had kids. You were everything to me, and I desired nothing more. I hope you’re doing well as you read this letter. Here’s my phone number and address in case you’d like to reach out to me. I’m not really familiar with Facebook or all that technology everyone seems to be using these days, but I’d love to hear from you.

    Sincerely, James.

Evelyn felt her eyes fill with tears as she read and reread the letter. She felt a whirlwind of emotions—relief, sorrow, hope, and a profound sense of closure. For decades, she had shouldered the weight of unanswered questions, and now, at last, she held the answers in her hands.

With a sense of resolve, Evelyn stood up from her chair and headed inside. She pulled out her stationery from a drawer, her hands shaking a bit as she started to write her letter. Words came easily, connecting the long years of quiet and hurt.

    Dear James,

Getting your letter after all this time has stirred up a storm of feelings. For so many years, I found myself lost in thoughts about why you walked away, constantly questioning if what we had was ever truly real. Your absence created a space in my heart that never quite mended.

Life continued on, and situations guided me toward a direction I never planned to take. I married Daniel, welcomed a beautiful daughter into our lives, and created a life that appeared perfect from the outside. Still, there was an ever-present feeling that something was absent—a part of me that only you could complete.

I sometimes think about whether you found happiness and if you ever reflect on what might have been. Your letter has provided me with the closure I truly needed. I can see how much fear and pressure you must have experienced because of my father. I really wish things could have turned out differently, that life had given us the chance to be together.

Thank you for getting in touch. It’s always a good time to reconnect, and I would truly love to hear about your life and share my own with you.

    With all my love, Evelyn.

She gently folded the letter and slipped it into an envelope, writing down the contact details James had given her. Sending it was like unlocking a door that had been shut for ages, revealing memories from her past.

The weeks that came after were filled with both excitement and nervousness. Evelyn juggled her duties as a grandmother while holding onto the hope that James would get back to her. She frequently caught herself lost in thoughts about what it might be like to reconnect, to truly grasp each other’s paths, and maybe even discover comfort in the shared history that had always tied them together.

On a brisk autumn afternoon, Evelyn found another letter waiting for her. Her heart raced as she ripped it open, uncovering James’s sincere reply.

    Dear Evelyn,

I really appreciate your lovely letter. It holds a significance that goes beyond what I can say. My time in California was tough, but it allowed me the opportunity to heal and think about my life without you. I’ve always felt a deep sense of regret for running away and leaving you behind on our wedding day. I’ve carried the burden of that decision with me each day since it was made.

I never intended to hurt you or bring you any pain. Your marriage and your family gave you the stability and happiness that I was unable to offer. Watching Lily grow and flourish has been a poignant reminder of what we might have shared together.

I really want to reconnect and catch up on all the years we’ve missed. I would love to come to Detroit and see you and Lily again, if you’re open to it. I’d love to hear if that’s something you’re interested in.

With heartfelt apologies and warm wishes, James.

Evelyn was overwhelmed with feelings as she read what James had written. A piece of her long-lost love seemed to have returned to her, as if drawn back by some unseen force. After thinking it over, she chose to accept his invitation. Thinking about seeing him again after all these years filled me with excitement and anxiety.

A couple of months down the line, James made his way to Detroit. Though the city had transformed while he was away, the Rosedale Park Historic District still held the same elegance and charm that Evelyn recalled. As she opened the door, a warm smile spread across her face, her heart filled with a blend of happiness and fond memories.

“James,” she murmured, wrapping him in a warm, sincere hug.

“Evelyn,” he said, his voice heavy with feeling. “I’m really glad to see you!”

Their time together was rich with talks about their lives, reminiscing about old memories, and rekindling a bond that had always lingered beneath the surface. James had created a simple yet rewarding life in California, where he worked as an art teacher, pouring his heart into guiding troubled youth to discover their paths through the world of art. He had never tied the knot, still holding onto the hope of one day finding his way back to Evelyn.

Evelyn, however, had discovered a deep well of strength and resilience in her journey of raising Lily. Her marriage to Daniel had been filled with ups and downs, and after he passed away, she dedicated herself to her daughter and grandchildren, pouring her heart into building a warm and loving home. Still, the door to her past love stood ajar, patiently awaiting James’s return.

As autumn transitioned into winter, their connection grew stronger. They would spend their evenings looking back on their time together, exchanging tales of victories and challenges. James looked up to Evelyn for her strength and grace, and she felt comforted by his constant support and understanding.

On a snowy evening, while they were nestled by the fireplace in Evelyn’s warm living room, James gently took her hand.

“I’ve really missed you, Evelyn.” “Each day without you seems so unfinished.”

Evelyn held his hand tightly, her eyes beginning to fill with tears. “I’ve missed you as well, James.” Part of me always wondered if we would ever find our way back to one another.

James moved in a bit, speaking in a gentle tone. “I want to set things straight.” <text”I would love to be a part of your life again, if you’re open to it.”

Evelyn nodded, tears streaming down her face. “Absolutely, James.” I would really appreciate that.

Evelyn found a fresh sense of purpose and joy in her life through their rekindled relationship. She couldn’t help but smile more often, sensing the burdens of the past fade away as she welcomed the present. James became a beloved member of the family, relishing the time spent with Lily and her grandchildren, who loved him for his kind heart and imaginative soul.

Life has a knack for putting our resilience to the test, and just when Evelyn and James were starting to find their happiness, unexpected challenges came their way. Harold Thompson, Evelyn’s father, had died several years back, yet the shadow of his disapproval still hung over the hearts of those who had known him. Some of his old friends still looked at James with caution, seeing him through the filter of Harold’s tough criticism.

One day, Evelyn got a surprising phone call from a man who said he was an old friend of her father’s. Victor Lawson had heard that James was back in Detroit. Victor had always held Harold’s choices in high regard and felt a strong obligation to honor his legacy.

“I hate to bring this up, Mrs. Thompson,” Victor started, his tone feeling a bit stiff and removed. “I really need to talk about some unresolved issues concerning James Whitaker.”

Evelyn could feel a tight knot twisting in her stomach. “Which matters are you talking about, Victor?””

Victor paused for a moment, gathering his thoughts before he spoke. “It’s about the community.” After James left, there were certain… issues that remain unresolved. Harold thought that James was engaged in actions that might damage the church’s reputation. I want to make sure that everything is set up properly.

Evelyn was overwhelmed by a wave of frustration. “James isn’t part of anything like that.” He walked away due to the pressure and threats coming from my father. He hasn’t harmed the church or anyone for that matter.

Victor let out a deep sigh, the creases on his face becoming more pronounced. “I see where you’re coming from, but Harold had some concerns that I think are still valid.” It’s important for us to make sure that James’s return doesn’t introduce any negativity to the church or our community.

James moved ahead, his face steady yet resolute. “Victor, I promise you, I’ve really changed.” My work in California really stands out on its own. My focus is solely on supporting young people through the power of art. I don’t want to hurt anyone at all.

Victor took a moment to observe James before giving a hesitant nod. “Alright then.” However, I need to caution you, James, that straying from what’s anticipated might result in outcomes that neither of you desire.

With that, Victor wrapped up the call, leaving Evelyn and James to take in what had just happened. Harold’s shadow was still very much present, and moving past it would take more than simply making peace with oneself.

Evelyn and James were resolute in their decision to not let past prejudices shape their future, so they took proactive steps forward. Community events were held at St. Augustine’s, highlighting James’s art programs and the positive influence he has on the youth. Gradually, the community started to recognize the real nature of James’s character, clearing away the misunderstandings that had lingered since Harold’s time.

In the meantime, Evelyn kept building her bond with James, drawing strength from their shared moments and the support they offered each other. Their love story, which had once been clouded by fear and misunderstanding, grew into a beautiful example of strength and lasting love.

With each passing year, their connection deepened even more. Evelyn felt a swell of pride as she observed Lily blossoming into a confident and compassionate woman, embodying the legacy of love and kindness that her parents had nurtured in her. The grandchildren absolutely loved James, reveling in his imaginative projects and the warmth he added to their lives.

On a lovely spring morning, with blossoms starting to bloom in Rosedale Park, Evelyn and James found themselves on the porch, enjoying the sight of their grandchildren at play. The sun bathed the park in a warm, golden light, while the air was alive with the delightful fragrance of blooming flowers.

Have you ever pondered what might have happened instead?“Evelyn whispered gently, resting her head against James’s shoulder.”

James smiled, his eyes shining with the love and understanding they had built together over the years. “Constantly.” I’m really thankful for where we find ourselves today. We’ve created something truly beautiful together, against all odds.

Evelyn nodded, a warm feeling of satisfaction washing over her. “I never thought I’d be able to feel joy again after everything that unfolded that day at the altar.” You’ve truly filled my life with so much happiness.

James grasped her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. “I’m really happy we decided to give ourselves another shot.”

Their journey served as a beacon of hope for those nearby, showing that love can withstand even the toughest challenges. Evelyn and James showed us that it’s always possible to ask for forgiveness, mend relationships, and welcome the love that was always destined for them.

As the sun dipped below the horizon on that beautiful spring day, Evelyn found herself pondering the path that had brought her back to James. Their journey took them from the hurt of being left behind to the comfort of coming back together, with their love enduring life’s challenges and growing deeper and more resilient along the way.

As the years rolled into decades, Evelyn and James stayed side by side, their love shining brightly as a symbol of hope and strength. They observed the world transforming around them, but their connection stayed strong, untouched by the passage of time or the challenges they faced.

On a crisp autumn evening, with leaves transforming the scenery into a tapestry of red and gold, Evelyn and James found themselves on their porch, hand in hand, reflecting on the journey they had taken together.

“Do you recall the first time we crossed paths at the park?”“Evelyn asked, her voice tinged with a sense of longing.”

James let out a quiet laugh. “How could I possibly forget?” <text”I couldn’t help but admire your patience and kindness as you tried to teach Lily how to ride her bike.”

Evelyn smiled, her eyes glimmering with cherished memories. “Back then, it felt like anything could happen.” “Even in the face of uncertainty about the future, we always had one another.”

James gazed into her eyes, his own brimming with steadfast affection. “And we always will, Evelyn.” “Whatever challenges we encounter, we’ll tackle them side by side.”

As the evening sky deepened into darkness and the first stars started to shimmer, Evelyn experienced a deep sense of tranquility. Her journey was long and filled with heartache, but it eventually brought her to a place of healing and lasting love. She discovered that forgiveness, understanding, and the bravery to accept the past were essential for opening the door to a future brimming with joy and satisfaction.

Ultimately, Evelyn came to understand that the letter from James was not merely a connection to her past; it was a vital lifeline that had rescued her from the depths of regret and resentment. Their journey was a powerful reminder of love’s strength and the resilience we all carry within us, showing that even after long periods of distance and heartache, genuine love can always find its way back.

    Summarized:

Evelyn Matthews, a young woman, experienced a passionate love story with James Whitaker, someone she had met during her college years. They met in college and shared a deep connection, but their engagement didn’t last long. As the minutes passed, a sense of unease crept over Evelyn, who had always trusted in James’s strength to conquer any challenge.

Harold Thompson, her father, warned James that he would leave the church right then and there, never to come back. James was adamant that he wouldn’t leave Evelyn on their wedding day, but Harold’s disdain for his unpredictable artist and perceived lack of drive led him to threaten to turn James’s life into a nightmare. James held his position, yet the heaviness of Harold’s words overwhelmed him.

Evelyn’s father didn’t approve of James, which resulted in years of marriages, including one with Daniel Collins, all while her father kept a close watch. Their marriage was more about convenience and what society expected than about love, and they had a daughter, Lily, who brought a spark of joy into their otherwise rocky relationship. Even though Evelyn seemed happy on the outside, she couldn’t shake off thoughts of James. The unanswered questions and unresolved feelings hung over her, forming an invisible wall between her and the life she had created.

Fifty years later, Evelyn is now 75, enjoying a peaceful life in the Rosedale Park Historic District of Detroit. Her days are filled with nurturing her garden, cherishing moments with her three grandchildren, and pondering the journey of her life. One day, as she relaxed on her porch, she heard the familiar sound of the mail slot snapping open. A bright young man named Ben walks over, holding a neatly folded envelope. He hands Evelyn a letter from James, and she recognizes it immediately.

Evelyn receives a letter expressing that she has been reflecting on James every single day since their wedding, realizing now that she should have heeded his words. She relocated to California with just the clothes on her back, having never married or had kids. James was everything to her, and she desired nothing more. She wishes for this letter to reach Evelyn in good spirits and includes her phone number and address, inviting her to respond if she feels inclined.

    Best regards, James.

Evelyn, a grandmother, found a letter from her long-lost love, James, pouring out her grief and seeking the closure she desperately needed. For decades, she had shouldered the weight of unanswered questions, and now, at last, she held the answers in her hands. James wrote the letter, leaving a void in her heart that had never quite healed. She married Daniel, had a lovely daughter, and created what seemed like a perfect life, yet there was always a nagging feeling that something was amiss.

Evelyn was caught in a whirlwind of emotions, juggling her duties as a grandmother while holding onto the hope that James would finally reach out. She frequently found herself lost in thoughts of reconnecting, exploring their individual journeys, and maybe even discovering comfort in the shared history that had always tied them together.

On a chilly autumn afternoon, Evelyn opened yet another letter from James, uncovering his sincere feelings. He felt a deep sense of regret for leaving him behind on their wedding day, and the heaviness of that choice lingered with him each day. He hoped to reconnect and catch up on the years that had slipped away, and if James was open to it, he would love to visit Detroit and see Evelyn and Lily once more.

Evelyn felt a rush of feelings as she read James’s invitation and decided to accept it. Meeting him again after all these years filled me with a mix of excitement and anxiety. A few months later, James made his way to Detroit, and they filled their days with laughter and nostalgia, reminiscing about their lives, sharing cherished memories, and rekindling a bond that had always lingered beneath the surface.

As autumn turned into winter, their connection grew stronger. They spent their evenings looking back on their shared experiences, exchanging stories of both victories and challenges. James looked up to Evelyn for her strength and grace, and she felt comforted by his constant support and understanding.

On a snowy evening, James contacted Evelyn, expressing how much he missed her and how each day without her felt like something was missing. He leaned in, his voice gentle, and proposed to make amends by reentering Evelyn’s life, if she would have him back. Evelyn nodded in agreement, tears streaming down her face.

Evelyn’s rekindled relationship filled her life with a fresh sense of purpose and joy. She noticed herself smiling more often, as the burdens of the past began to fade away, allowing her to fully embrace the present. James became a beloved member of the family, relishing the time spent with Lily and her grandchildren, who adored him for his kind heart and imaginative soul.

Evelyn and James Whitaker, two friends with a complicated history shaped by Harold Thompson’s disapproval, were discovering joy in their bond. He worried that James could introduce some negativity to the church or the community, but James promised him that he had transformed and was committed to supporting young people through art.

Victor cautioned James that straying from the plan could result in outcomes neither of them desired. They chose to take proactive measures to make sure that James’s return wouldn’t bring any negativity to the church or the community. James smiled, a warm expression that captured the love and understanding they had built together through the years. She had never thought she would find happiness again after that day at the altar.

Their journey served as a beacon of hope for everyone nearby, showing that love can withstand even the toughest challenges. They showed that it’s never too late to ask for forgiveness, mend relationships, and welcome the love that was always destined to be. As the sun dipped below the horizon on that beautiful spring evening, Evelyn found herself pondering the path that had brought her back to James, a journey marked by the hurt of being left behind and the comfort of coming together again. As the years rolled into decades, their connection stayed strong, untouched by the passage of time or the challenges life threw their way.

Travis Kelce is feeling proud ahead of his debut as a film producer.

Fresh off of a disappointing loss for the Chiefs in the 2025 Super Bowl, Kelce, 35, is looking ahead to the release of My Dead Friend Zoe, the first feature film on which he serves as an executive producer.

“Being part of My Dead Friend Zoe as an executive producer has been an incredible experience,” Kelce said in a statement shared with PEOPLE on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

The film “tells a compelling story and shines a light on the challenges our veterans face,” the tight end continued. “My hope is to continue working on meaningful projects like this — stories that entertain, inspire and make a real impact,” Kelce said in the statement, noting that he’s “proud to be a part of” the film, about an Army vet (Sonequa Martin-Green) dealing with PTSD after her friend, a fellow soldier (Natalie Morales), dies.

Kelce went on to describe My Dead Friend Zoe as a film “that tells a powerful story and puts two strong female characters at the forefront,” of the movie. “Sonequa and Natalie bring depth and authenticity to their performances, highlighting the strength, resilience and leadership of women in the military,” he said in the statement.

The film’s director, Kyle Hausmann-Stokes, tells PEOPLE that it was “incredible” having Kelce as an executive producer. “While our schedules didn’t align for him to visit set or meet the cast, it was clear from the outset that Travis signed on because of his support for the military and veterans,” Hausmann-Stokes shares.

“Everyone on this film — from the leads, to our 90% real veteran cast, to the crew, producers and army of investors that made the film possible — was doing it for social impact and greater causes. It was an honor to have Travis among our ranks for those same reasons.”

In a previous interview with Screen Rant Plus, the director said it was “surreal” when Kelce signed on as a producer. “He’s really brought so much additional attention and ultimately, selfishly, I want people to enjoy this film…I think what Travis did for us was just this tidal wave of energy and exposure.”

Kelce also partnered with My Dead Friend Zoe producing partners, Ray Maiello and Mike Field, for an upcoming documentary about artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, PEOPLE confirmed in March 2024.

According to ArtNews, the project is called King Pleasure and the production team has been given access to Basquiat’s archives from the late artist’s estate. The film will utilize “never-before-seen home movies, notebooks, photographs, animation, and interviews” through the access from the artist’s estate, according to a report from Deadline.

My Dead Friend Zoe premieres in theaters on Feb. 28.

Once upon a time, Angel Reese was described as a bully entering the WNBA.

Reese taunting Caitlin Clark during the 2023 NCAA women’s basketball championship sparked a wave that would change her life for the better.

She was known back then, but her celebrity status reached another level because of the alleged ‘beef.’

Since then, Angel Reese has been a breaking force as the newest WNBA player.

Her skills on the court are undeniable, but she has also been able to utilize her brand outside of the WNBA.

Over the past year, Angel Reese has created Reese Pieces-inspired clothing and items and became the first college athlete to collaborate with huge name brands such as Dick Sporting Goods and Reebok.

Her most recent collaboration was a McDonald’s deal, which made her the first female basketball player to lend her name to a signature McDonald’s meal deal.

In the locker room area, Hansel Enmanuel — the Governors’ junior guard and one of college basketball’s most inspirational players — met eyes with a shy high school freshman basketball player who attended the game with his family and had hoped to meet Enmanuel.

Enmanuel has captured the imagination of fans, opposing players and celebrities across the country with his high-flying dunks and uplifting play as he competes at the Division I level despite having one arm. His left arm was amputated just below the shoulder after an accident when he was 6.

He became a social media sensation as a teenager growing up in the Dominican Republic as videos of the amazing things he could do on the basketball court went viral. He has 1.5 million followers on Instagram and 2.8 million on TikTok, and everywhere he goes, somebody wants to meet him, take a picture with him or simply be in his presence. Austin Peay provides security for him for every road game.

But on this evening in Richmond, Kentucky, the high school freshman — who has a prosthetic limb — froze as Enmanuel approached him.

“We get those requests before every game, and I always ask Hansel because one of our promises to him when he came to Austin Peay was that it wasn’t going to be a dog and pony show,” said Governors coach Corey Gipson, who recruited Enmanuel to Northwestern State, where he played for one year before following Gipson to Austin Peay in 2023.

“We’ve told Hansel that he can say no if it gets to be too much, but he never does.”

Enmanuel smiled warmly as the young player tried to muster a few words, and his mom said, “Baby, don’t you want to say something?” As Gipson looked around, he could see tears welling up in the eyes of some of the Eastern Kentucky officials who were there.

Finally, Enmanuel offered an easy laugh and hugged the freshman as tears streamed down his face.

“Hey, it’s OK. Listen to me,” Enmanuel softly told him. “I know you’ve got something to say, but I want to tell you this: You can be anything you want to be if you’re willing to work for it. Everything I’ve gotten, I’ve worked for. I’ve never worried about what anybody thought about me. I’ve been willing to sacrifice and pay the price to put myself in this position. You’ve got to do the same thing, and you can be right where I am.”

By then, the boy’s mom was also crying.

“I’m not sure there was anybody there that wasn’t crying,” Gipson said.

For Enmanuel, 21, it has never been about what was taken from him at such a young age but what he has been able to give to so many people.

It never has been about what he doesn’t have but what he does have.

Never about what he can’t do but what he can do.

And never about him, period, but about others.

“I think he understands that the torch he carries is a very heavy one, and it burns hot,” said Austin Peay senior guard Isaac Haney, who was with Enmanuel at Northwestern State and has known him longer than any of his other teammates. “He pushes through every single day because he knows people are looking at him. I’m always amazed at how he attacks basketball and life in a way that people with fully functioning bodies don’t.

“So many of us are chasing the wrong thing. Every day, I feel like he wakes up and chases the right thing.”

Enmanuel, whose full name is Hansel Enmanuel Donato, understands the impact he has had on others, and not only in the sports world, although he acknowledged that he probably doesn’t grasp the full scope of it.

“I just feel like that I’m doing my job the way that God wants me to do it,” Enmanuel said. “I want to get better every day. That’s why I have the mentality that I do, to do better for myself, to keep chasing my dream of making it to the NBA and never letting anything get in my way, and maybe that helps other people.

“Nothing can stop me. Never. I could have a million things in my way. I’m never going to stop.”

ENMANUEL’S EXAMPLE HAS changed the lives of countless kids looking for hope while dealing with illness or a physical limitation, but probably none more so than 16-year-old Josh Sexton of Buford, Georgia.

Having endured 39 surgeries and multiple cancer diagnoses, Sexton made his 11th grade junior varsity basketball team this season and will play AAU ball in the spring — all without a right arm. Sexton was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) and had his right arm amputated when he was 8. He doesn’t have a clavicle or a shoulder blade on the right side, just ribs. Doctors said the tumor in his arm was the size of a brick.

“Hansel gave me a reason to play,” said Sexton, who first saw Enmanuel on one of his TikTok videos when he was still in high school. “I mean, if it wasn’t for Hansel, I don’t know if I’d have ever started playing basketball because the mental state that I was in with all the surgeries, all the cancer, all the injuries … I didn’t really know if I was ever going to do anything physical.”

Josh Sexton and Enmanuel at a summer basketball camp. “Hansel gave me a reason to play,” Sexton said. Courtesy Sexton family
Sexton has attended Gipson’s basketball camp at Austin Peay each of the past two summers. At the first camp, he hadn’t been out of a wheelchair for long and was just learning to walk and run again after doctors found a cancerous spot under his right knee. They were able to save Sexton’s leg but had to remove the growth plate underneath his knee and 4 or 5 inches of his tibia and replace it with bone from a cadaver, which required a year of treatment.

Sexton was undaunted. He met Enmanuel for the first time and even played a couple of games of one-on-one against him the second time he attended the camp.

“It didn’t go very well,” Sexton’s mom, Alishia, said with a laugh. “Josh actually played pretty good defense on him the first game, but he fell going for the ball in the second game, and Hansel went in and dunked.”

Gipson has remained in touch with the family, and Sexton attended Austin Peay’s game against Murray State last season and spent some time with Enmanuel in the locker room.

Sexton is grateful that Enmanuel hasn’t taken it easy on him at camp. They were doing a perimeter passing drill last summer, and Sexton was having a hard time getting open. Though Enmanuel has a short nub just below his shoulder and can brace the ball on it, Sexton has to brace the ball on his chest before passing or shooting.

“I was getting pressed up on by people guarding me, and I really didn’t know what to do,” Sexton said. “I wasn’t a physical player at all. I can still remember what Hansel told me, and he almost got mad at me. He said, ‘You’ve got to push off with your one arm to create separation, or you’re not going to get the ball.’ That was big for me, him giving me real advice and treating me like any other player.”

Enmanuel will never be mistaken for just any other player. Sure, he’s averaging just 2.1 points and about 12 minutes and has been working his way back after having surgery in November to repair a torn meniscus in his knee. But his impact has been immeasurable across platforms that transcend sports.

Just last week, he was invited for a presentation at the White House. He has lucrative NIL deals with big-brand companies such as Oakley, Gatorade, Adidas, T-Mobile and Banreservas, one of the largest financial institutions in the Dominican Republic. He was featured in a national Gatorade commercial in 2022 as part of the company’s “Fuel Tomorrow” campaign.

Enmanuel also has a deal with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s ZOA Energy drink. All told, Enmanuel’s NIL deals add up to about $1.5 million and are all through companies that want to partner with him, as opposed to a collective tied to Austin Peay.

Gipson said the team recently was on a bus getting ready to head to a game, and Enmanuel was texting with Johnson about his new movie.

“Later on, we’re sitting at my house watching the movie, and Hansel hits up The Rock and says, ‘Hey, I’m watching with Coach Gip, and it’s a great movie,’” Gipson said. “Again, we’re talking about The Rock. But it’s like that with a lot of people, and it’s not just that they’re rooting for Hansel.

    “They really admire him.”

Enmanuel grew up in one of the poorest communities (Los Mina) in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. His father, Salvador Donato, played professional basketball in the Dominican, and Enmanuel was raised by his grandmother, Bibelis Donato.

With his NIL income, Enmanuel has taken care of his family. He bought his grandparents on his mother’s side a church in the Dominican Republic to help with their ministry. He bought his mother, Katy Dominguez, a house in Pennsylvania. Next on his list is getting his other grandmother, Bibelis, to an Austin Peay game.

“I got her a passport, and working on a visa next,” Enmanuel said. “She knows basketball because of my dad. She texts me a lot. She’s my purpose. My family is my purpose, everybody around me. That’s the type of heart that I’ve got.

“My heart is pure, and I love to serve. It’s just who I am.”

And he takes care of people beyond his blood relatives.

When Enmanuel was at Northwestern State, he supplied the team with sneakers thanks to his deal with Adidas.

Austin Peay’s baseball team won the Atlantic Sun Conference championship last season, and as a reward, Enmanuel saw to it that the players and staff all received Oakley sunglasses.

“Hansel is the poster child for what NIL is supposed to be,” Austin Peay athletic director Gerald Harrison said. “It’s not pay-for-play. It’s truly name, image and likeness that he’s capitalizing on, and the most impressive thing is that he’s sharing it with people. He doesn’t have to. He wants to.”

ENMANUEL WAS ONE of 13 new players on Austin Peay’s roster a year ago, Gipson’s first season as head coach at his alma mater, and the Governors made it to the championship game of the Atlantic Sun tournament. They’re 12-15 this season but have won three straight and are hoping to make another run in the conference tournament.

Enmanuel has never been very comfortable talking about himself and what he has been able to overcome. He’d rather talk about his teammates and his part in helping the team as opposed to the role model he has become off the court and in pop culture. After all, rapper J. Cole once highlighted Enmanuel in a video.

“I don’t want to be a victim. I’m not a victim,” Enmanuel said.

And good luck to anyone who treats him as such on the court because that’s when Enmanuel is most likely to go airborne and pin an opposing shot attempt on the backboard or go around his back with a dribble and soar in for a dunk.

“You can see it in his eyes if he thinks somebody might be going easy on him,” Haney said, “and I can promise you nobody here does.”

Robert Harris, Austin Peay’s head strength coach, said Enmanuel has forced him to be creative and in turn has made him a better coach.

“The challenge with Hansel is making sure he’s not overworking that right side because he’s always wanting to do more, always wanting to do extra work,” Harris said. “We’ve found ways for him to do squats with a safety bar and he holds it with his right hand, or to hook up a band and use manual resistance to work all three phases of the shoulder on the left side.

“We talk through things, but he’s going to make sure he’s doing everything everybody else is. Even when he’s doing pushups, the only thing he needs is for somebody to brace him. He’s woke up a lot of people, in life in general, about always finding a way.”

Jake Olson can relate to Enmanuel’s experiences. He became the first blind player to compete in an NCAA football game in 2017 as a long-snapper for USC. He’s also a 10-handicap golfer and regularly plays in tournaments.

Much like Enmanuel, Olson was a youngster when he faced an extreme challenge. Born with a rare cancer of the retina, Olson lost his left eye when he was 1, then had a second procedure when he was 12 that saved his life but cost him his right eye. Before losing his sight, he was invited to watch his favorite team, the USC Trojans, as then-coach Pete Carroll invited him to be a guest at practice. A few years later, Olson joined the team as a player and was able to snap in some games.

“It’s kind of a double-edged sword, because on one hand, this is bigger than the sport, right?” Olson said. “I mean, partially why you’re doing this is to prove to yourself and others that you can do this despite not having your eyes or your arm. Of course, that’s going to draw inspiration for others who are similarly in your shoes. But the ultimate respect comes from the people you’re competing with or against, and whether it’s gamesmanship with players clapping and trying to throw me off or whatever, it’s what you want. You want people to come at you like they would anybody else.

“At the end of the day, you want to be known for being good at your craft.”

Enmanuel doesn’t allow his mind to wander back to the day when, as a 6-year-old, he was trapped under a concrete wall for hours after it collapsed on him while playing. He was rushed to the emergency room, where doctors were unable to save his arm.

“I don’t go back. I go day by day and take care of what I’ve got to take care of,” Enmanuel said.

Olson, who is writing a book and traveling the country for speaking engagements, said there were times that talking about his plight when he was at USC became a distraction. He wanted to be a role model for others but also wanted to be the best long-snapper he could be.

“It’s emotional, man,” Olson said. “You see someone going through what you’ve gone through or you’re going through, kids coming up to me who were losing their eyesight, and that really puts you back in that moment of when you were also in their shoes. I’m sure Hansel would agree. It’s hard, those horrible memories of losing his arm and what that meant in the first couple weeks and months and years afterward, the frustration of learning how to tie a shoe or put on your clothes.

“There’s an emotional state that comes with it that’s difficult to describe, and because of that, it takes your focus away from what you’re doing, whether it’s making a free throw or a long snap. I guess part of it is protecting your heart from going down a rabbit hole of sympathy and memories you’ve tried to lock away. But you also know it’s bigger than just your journey.”

Enmanuel’s humility is a big part of what has endeared him to his teammates, but he also has his fun. Haney remembers some chatter in the locker room one day about Instagram followers.

Enmanuel chirped: “I had more than all of you before I was out of high school.”

    Gipson calls Enmanuel, “Ten Bags.”

“I’ve never seen a person carry so much,” he said, explaining the nickname. “I think he does it on purpose sometimes just to sort of show off.”

Enmanuel shares a special bond with Gipson, who has been a mentor. Enmanuel spoke very little, if any, English when he left high school at Life Christian Academy in Florida and signed with Northwestern State under Gipson, who has gone to great lengths to help Enmanuel cross the language barrier.

Enmanuel said Gipson has followed through on everything he promised during his recruitment. Memphis, among other schools, also offered Enmanuel, but he was sold on Gipson’s vision.

“I wanted to show it with my loyalty, when I was in high school and since I’ve been with Coach Gip in college,” Enmanuel said. “It’s not just with words but with action that you show loyalty. I’m really enjoying this process and can’t wait to see where it goes. I know I can get a lot better, and so can our team.”

Enmanuel isn’t a big talker, and as recently as last season, was still doing some of his interviews in Spanish. One of his most underappreciated qualities, according to Gipson, is how aware he is of everything going on around him.

“He knows who he is,” Gipson said. “Sometimes you don’t know who you are. Hansel knows exactly who he is. He’s very astute. He’s well observed, and he has a great feel for life.”

Where life will take him is not something Enmanuel worries about. He knows he wants to play professional basketball. He knows he will never quit chasing that dream, and he knows every mountain can be climbed.

“I don’t really plan anything,” Enmanuel said. “That’s just the type of person I am, because God’s got my plan.”

Dubbed “The Coolest Thing To Happen In Aberdeen Ever,” The Led Zeppelin Legend Wowed Pubgoers With An Impromptu Performance, Transforming A Casual Evening Into An Unforgettable Rock-and-roll Moment

Robert Plant left his fans gobsmacked when he dropped into a pub after his gig in Aberdeen to put on a surprise performance at an open-mic night.

The Led Zeppelin singer, 74, visited the Scottish city on Thursday evening to perform with his new band Saving Grace at the Tivoli theatre.

However, he unexpectedly visited local venue Under the Hammer after his gig to take to the stage again for the open-mic night, much to the delight of pubgoers.

One photograph taken at the popular bar showed the legendary rock star posing with a group of very excited Led Zeppelin fans.

People were quick to take to Twitter to share their amazement at his unexpected appearance, with one gushing that it was the ‘coolest thing’ ever to happen in Aberdeen.

One tweeted, ‘When open mic night goes from tolerable to awesome,’ while another added: ‘Basically the coolest thing to happen in Aberdeen for, well, ever…’

A third said: ‘Extraordinary! Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin fame dropped in to Aberdeen bar Under The Hammer after his gig in town last night and PLAYED THE OPEN MIC.’

‘Unbelievable but true,’ a fourth fan commented.

The bar’s owners also said they were ‘honoured’ that Robert and Saving Grace dropped into their venue to perform an encore.

Taking to Facebook, they wrote: ‘It doesn’t happen very often that we get a visit from Rock ‘n’ Roll hall of famer and CBE but last night we were honoured by a presence of Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant!

‘Robert and his new band mates joined us after their ‘Saving Grace’ gig at Tivoli and got involved in on our open mic session, delivering their ‘I bid you goodnight’ song. WHAT A NIGHT!’

Open mic host Jamie Rodden told the BBC: ‘He came in about an hour before the end, and he didn’t just come along and just make it all about him, he actually certainly listened to the people that were playing as well.’

Robert formed his band Saving Grace along with music veteran Tony Kelsey, guitarist Matt Worley, singer Suzi Dian and newcomer percussionist Oli Jefferson.

He teamed up with Suzi back in 2019 to form the band and they made their debut performance back in January of that year.

But Robert first rose to fame as part of rock band Led Zeppelin in 1968 and they created hits including Stairway to Heaven until 1980, when the band broke up following the tragic death of drummer John Bonham.

The band also featured Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones became one of the biggest bands of the 1970s with their mammoth sound cited as one of the progenitors of heavy metal.

At the height of Led Zeppelin’s fame, the band epitomised the hard-living rock and roll lifestyle, becoming one of the first bands to popularise such tropes as groupies and trashed hotel rooms.

Speaking about their hey-day back in 2018, Robert revealed he finds the state of modern rock and roll ‘dull‘.

Appearing on The Project, the legendary star bemoaned the state of modern music, saying it was too sanitised.

‘All of that stuff came from what happens when there’s no real control, you know?,’ Robert told guest interviewer Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald.

He added: ‘The organisation that follows an artist these days is almost, it’s so dull.’

Robert went on to admit that he didn’t have too many wild stories of the road to recount as he was unsure which tales belonged to him.

‘I can’t tell you anything really because, not because I’ve got a book coming out, but because i don’t know whether I’m remembering what happened to me or what happened to somebody else – we just talked about it so much.’

When pressed on if he was writing a tell-all, Robert was adamant pen would not be touching paper as what happened on tour needed to stay on tour.

“Shocking Trade Rumor: Could the Kansas City Chiefs Steal a Dallas Cowboys Superstar This Offseason?”

Dallas Cowboys legend and All-Pro guard Zack Martin is a pending free agent, and one NFL writer thinks he’ll take his talents to the Midwest.

The 34-year-old Zack Martin has spent his entire playing career with the Cowboys since being taken 16th overall in 2014. The surefire Hall of Famer has been named to nine Pro Bowls with seven First-team All-Pro selections under his belt.

The cap-strapped Chiefs could be in the market for a new guard with superstar Trey Smith slated to enter free agency. Many analysts project that he’ll land around $100 million in free agency, a price that would be too rich for Kansas City.

ESPN’s Matt Bowen listed the top 50 pending free agents of 2025, along with the best possible landing spots for each. Bowen ranked Martin 20th and made the case for the Chiefs to sign him if they lose Smith:

“We have Trey Smith fitting with the Bears, leaving an open spot on the interior of the Kansas City front. Martin still brings the blend of size (6-4, 315 pounds) and mobility that coaches want at the guard position.

Last season, Martin played in 10 games due to a right ankle injury, but his pass block win rate of 93.7% ranked 15th among guards. He could help keep that Chiefs interior strong (though the OT position also needs a lengthy look this offseason).”

Zack Martin missed seven games in 2024 but has otherwise been remarkably durable in his career, playing at least 15 games in eight of his 11 NFL seasons. As he enters his age-35 season, the future Canton member hasn’t shown any signs of a significant decline.

After the Tampa Bay Buccaneers destroyed the Chiefs’ o-line in Super Bowl 55, GM Brett Veach traded for Orlando Brown Jr., signed Joe Thuney and drafted Smith and Creed Humphrey.

The KC offensive line was no match for the Philadelphia Eagles’ front seven in Super Bowl 59, so expect several changes to that unit this offseason.

Chiefs Are The Ideal Landing Spot For Zack Martin

If Martin leaves the Cowboys, there’s no better fit for him than Kansas City.

He’d immediately fill the void left by Smith, and Kansas City easily gives him the best chance to win a Super Bowl before he hangs up the cleats. Martin is among the greatest offensive linemen ever, and it would be a shame if he retired without a Super Bowl to fulfill his legendary career.

Millie Bobby Brown & Jake Bongiovi: The Fairytale Romance Straight Out of a Love Song!

Millie Bobby Brown & Jake Bongiovi: The Fairytale Romance Straight Out of a Love Song!

Millie Bobby Brown played it cool when she finally met future husband Jake Bongiovi after they bonded over Instagram—but it wasn’t long before both knew they had to hold on to what they got.

Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi may have met in the most Gen Z of ways, but their courtship quickly took a turn for the old-fashioned.

After connecting on Instagram in 2021, “we were friends for a bit,” Millie shared in a November 2022 Wired interview. “And then, what can I say?”

Well, now their fans know that DMing led to FaceTiming, which led to finally meeting in person, with Jake extending the ancient chivalrous gesture of picking the Stranger Things star up from the airport.

,” Jake captioned a June 3, 2021, photo of the pair, quite possibly having just left an arrival terminal.

And now they’re married and share a farm in Georgia!

The couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony last May, then threw an elegant bash in Tuscany in September that involved four outfit changes for the bride. Millie walked down the aisle in custom couture by Galia Lahav, swapped it for vintage Valentino (circa 1993) for more photos, then slipped into an an Oscar de la Renta gown for cake-cutting and a Vivienne Westwood minidress for dancing.

“As soon as we spoke I knew he was going to be a huge part of my life,” Millie recalled to The Times of London in August 2023. “I ran to my mum and said, ‘I really, really like him!’ After we met we knew we never wanted to leave each other’s side.”

Who says you can’t just know?

Millie Bobby Brown, Jake BongioviMillie Bobby Brown/Instagram

“You can’t pinpoint why,” said the Damsel star, who’s turning 21 on Feb. 19. “It’s just the feeling of knowing that that’s the person you want to spend the rest of your time with. I think so much of life is overthinking. The one thing that made clear sense to me was him.”

Not that she showed up wearing her heart on her sleeve, mind you.

“You were playing it cool, like, ‘whatever,’” Jake, 22, reminisced about their first meeting as he did Millie’s makeup in a September 2023 video for her beauty line Florence by Mills, the pair dissolving into giggles as he attempted various feats of application.

At the airport, he recalled being “taken aback” initially. Having only had screen time with her before, Jake explained, “You don’t have a gauge for the physical person because you’re only talking to this.” He framed his face with his hands. “So, you were just a floating head for awhile.”

But soon enough, she meant the world to him, their initial meet-up turning into a full-on rom-com’s worth of sweet moments, from having coffee on a brisk November day in New York to checking out the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center to—it was only a matter of time—kicking off 2022 spending time in Millie’s native England (though she was born in Spain, where her father was working at the time).

The couple made their red carpet debut at the 2022 BAFTA Film Awards that March. Two months later Jake accompanied Millie to the Stranger Things season four premiere, captioning a pic from the evening, “Congratulations babe u deserve the world love you.”

And in April 2023, Millie flashed her dazzling engagement ring for the first time, captioning her post with Taylor Swift‘s “Lover” lyrics: “I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ’em all.”

Meanwhile, they were busy combining their respective worlds, meeting each other’s friends and families, not concerned that it was too much too soon—or, too early.

“My parents adore him,” Millie told The Times. “[We] both come from parents that have stayed together for a really long time. My parents were young when they got together, so I always had amazing role models for relationships.”

And Jake’s dad Jon and mom Dorothea Hurley were high school sweethearts who celebrated 35 years of marriage on April 29, 2024.

“Millie is wonderful,” Jon said last May, telling Andy Cohen, “Her whole family is great, really great. Jake is very, very happy.”

Asked if he thought the couple were a little young to get engaged, Jon said he didn’t think age was what truly mattered.

“If you find the right partner and you grow together,” the Bon Jovi frontman said, “I think that would be my advice, really: Growing together is wise. Growing together. I think that all of my kids have found the people that they think they can grow together with and we like ’em all.”

At the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year gala in early February, Jon reiterated that the couple were still on the right track.

“They’re madly in love and we love them both for that,” he told E! News’ Keltie Knight. “It’s an exciting adventure.”

Both Jake and Millie are the third of four siblings—”His family are wonderful people who welcomed me with open arms,” Millie told The Times—and Jake’s brother Jesse, 30, went ahead and proposed to his girlfriend of four years, Jesse Light, in July 2022. (They tied the knot May 7, 2024,  at the same Las Vegas chapel where the groom’s parents said “I do” in 1989.)

And it’s not as if the couple got carried away by vibes.

“If we’re not fully invested, then what’s the point?” Millie told Vanity Fair in an interview published Feb. 12. “We have to be, and we always have been.”

Before saying “I do,” she continued, “We talked about our political views, what kind of family we want to build, the kind of home we want to live in, the kind of relationship we’re looking for, the kind of careers we want.”

Getting married “is such an important decision,” Millie added, “and we wanted to make sure we were making the right one. I knew I was. It always felt right with him.”

And her parents approved, Jake having planned his proposal with a key assist from a ring provided by his future mother-in-law.

“I’ve always loved that ring,” Millie told The Times of the gleaming diamond. “It’s always stuck out to me, so she gave it to Jake. They were in cahoots about the whole proposal. I love that I can always keep a piece of my mum with me.”

In their makeup tutorial, Jake quipped that there were “many different factors” that went into him popping the question “that were actually life-threatening, that if they went awry, it could have been detrimental to your life. But luckily for you, it was amazing.” (They did seem to be on the beach, and nature can always have other plans.)

The couple didn’t say when exactly they’d join hands and vow to make it, they swear, but they were more than halfway there.

“happy valentines to the most handsome husband that’s ever lived,” Millie wrote on Instagram Feb. 14, sharing another wedding photo. “I love you more than anything.” To which Jake added, “Happy valentines day my beautiful wife. I love you so much.”

He captioned a video of them on a yacht, each releasing a snowy white dove into the air, the bird a symbol of love, peace, happiness and prosperity. Which sounds about right for these two.

Does he give love a bad name?

Singer and songwriter Jon Bon Jovi said his inner circle was quite surprised when he eloped with his wife, Dorothea Hurley, three decades ago.

“It shocked a lot of people — shocked about everybody: the band, management, agents, lawyers, parents, you name it,’” he recently recalled to People magazine. “It’s a shame because it should have been a beautiful moment, but after we did it, people were trying to take it away, until I stood up and went, ‘Wait a minute, why are we living our life for anyone else?’ And 35 years later, we’re still married.”

The 62-year-old, born John Francis Bongiovi Jr., made the last-minute decision to marry his then-fiancée while he was on tour at the time.

“We were in Los Angeles, California, the band was on the road on the ‘New Jersey’ tour, and if you opened up the curtains of my hotel room, there’s a big billboard of the five of us [Bon Jovi band members] staring into my window,” Bon Jovi went on. “My girlfriend, who was my fiancée at the time, we had a night off, and I said, ‘I need a higher high — I got an idea. Let’s go to Vegas now.’ And she said, ‘Now?’ I said, ‘Now.’”

The “Living on a Prayer” singer first met his wife while they were students at Sayreville War Memorial High School in New Jersey. The pair dated until 1985 when they broke up for five months before getting back together.

The pair got married at the Graceland Chapel in Las Vegas in 1989 and have four children together: daughter Stephanie, 30, and sons Jesse, 29, Jake, 21, and Romeo, 20.

While speaking with the Mirror, the rock star said, “It was like Harry Styles or Justin Timberlake getting married.

“I was that to the young girls in my time. When I came back from Vegas my manager was furious. He was like, ‘America’s boy is now married … that’s not a good career move.’ The record company was also despondent.”

In a recent interview, Bon Jovi told the Independent that he “hasn’t been a saint” during their 35-year marriage.

“These are all the wonderful clichés of rock stardom. It’s about never lying about having been a saint, but not being a fool enough to f–k up the home life, either,” he said.

Rumors and allegations about the rock star having an affair started circulating in 1993. Bon Jovi addressed those rumors in the hit single “Bed of Roses.”

In the song, he sings: “Now as you close your eyes/ Know I’ll be thinking about you/ While my mistress she calls me/ To stand in her spotlight again/ Tonight I won’t be alone / But you know that don’t mean I’m not lonely/ I’ve got nothing to prove/ For it’s you that I’d die to defend.”

The musician told the Independent that his marriage has lasted so long thanks to “a mutual admiration society, and being lucky enough to have grown up together.” He also credited his wife’s tolerance.

“Somehow it works. I think because we grow at the same rate. We grew equally and not in opposite directions,” Dorothea told People in November 2016.

The Grammy winner said that he and his wife “got it right the first time” while reminiscing on their love story.

The duo launched JBJ Soul Foundation in 2006, a nonprofit that specializes in creating affordable housing and provides meals to those in need.

Dorothea has been by his side through the ups and downs over the years. In 2022, Bon Jovi underwent vocal cord surgery after suffering from an atrophied vocal.

“The thing that gave me so much pleasure had been taken away,” he told People. “Joy is something you got to work at, right? Happiness is what you make it. It’s not about seizing the day anymore. I think it’s about embracing the day. I don’t have to punch it in the face anymore, now I just give it a hug, and that’s a good place to be.”

In early February, the singer went onstage for the first time since the surgery after being named the MusiCares Person of the Year.

“Although I’m well on the road to recovery and was able to take my time and do a song a day when I made the record,” the “Wanted Dead or Alive” crooner told Mix 104.1 Boston in March, “my need, want, desire is to be able to do two-and-a-half hours a night, four nights a week for months on end.”

Bon Jovi’s latest work, a docuseries called “Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story,” will be released on Hulu on Friday, April 26.

The four-part series will highlight “the epic past and uncertain future of one of the most recognizable bands in the world and it’s front-man Jon Bon Jovi.”

Battle of the Divas: Mariah Carey vs. Mary J. Blige – The Untold Bon Jovi Drama That Will Leave You Speechless!

The Battle of Divas: Mariah Carey vs. Mary J. Blige – The Untold Drama That Will Leave You Speechless!

In a world where musical legends dominate the airwaves, there are a few names that instantly evoke a sense of admiration and respect: Mariah Carey and Mary J. Blige. Both have shaped the soundtracks of generations, but behind their glamorous careers lies a rivalry that fans simply can’t ignore.

The drama between these two powerhouse singers has been simmering for years, with both claiming the title of “Queen of R&B” in their own right. But what caused the tension? What do we *really* know about the Mariah Carey vs. Mary J. Blige feud? Let’s dive into the juicy details that have remained shrouded in mystery.

    ### The Early Days: Friends or Foes?

Both Mariah and Mary started their careers in the early 90s, creating music that still echoes today. While Mariah was establishing herself as the world’s vocal prodigy with her range and unforgettable ballads, Mary J. was making waves with her soulful, raw, and emotional R&B hits. For years, fans saw them as two distinct entities, but behind closed doors, things were far from friendly.

Some claim the rivalry began when both singers found themselves in the same musical circles, often competing for the same accolades and fans. A few controversial interviews and passive-aggressive comments sparked whispers of a feud. Was it a clash of egos or a battle for dominance in the R&B scene? It’s still unclear, but one thing is certain – the drama was only beginning.

The 2000s: Tensions on Full Display

Fast forward to the early 2000s, when both Mariah and Mary were hitting their prime. Mariah’s infamous “Glitter” era seemed to overshadow Mary’s releases, and Mary wasn’t shy about her feelings. Rumors circulated that Mary felt slighted by Mariah’s attitude towards their interactions, with some suggesting that Mariah was dismissive or condescending.

But Mary wasn’t one to sit quietly. She fired back with her own fierce attitude, telling the world that no one, not even Mariah, could take her crown. Her raw, unapologetic style was something Mariah couldn’t replicate, and Mary was more than ready to remind everyone of that.

    ### The Real Battle: Who’s The Queen of R&B?

In 2025, as Mariah Carey continues to reign over the holiday season with her iconic “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and Mary J. Blige releases powerful new music, fans are still debating who truly deserves the title of “Queen of R&B.”

Mariah’s divine vocal control, glamorous persona, and chart-topping hits have made her a legend. But Mary’s deep connection to the struggles of life, her soul-stirring voice, and ability to inspire millions have made her a queen in her own right. So, who’s the ultimate queen? You decide.

But here’s the question you *really* want to know: will they ever reconcile, or is the rivalry destined to burn for eternity?

    ### What’s Next?

Both women have had their fair share of public drama, but their legacies remain untouchable. Will there be a collaboration? Will we ever see the two icons share a stage? Fans are dying to know, and the tension is palpable.

**But here’s the twist**: With Mariah Carey’s upcoming documentary shedding light on her personal life and career struggles, and Mary J. Blige’s recent explosive interviews revealing raw emotions about her journey, it’s clear that the war of words may just be heating up again.

So what do you think? Is it time for these divas to bury the hatchet, or will their rivalry continue to captivate us for years to come? Leave your thoughts below and let the debate rage on! The question of who reigns supreme is far from over.
