Elon Musk’s support of Donald Trump took a radical turn over the weekend when the tech billionaire’s mother seemingly encouraged her followers to commit voter fraud after her son reminded his audience on X to register to vote.

“Super important to get all your friends and family to register to vote,” the Tesla CEO’s post read. “Georgia’s registration deadline is Monday!!”

His mother, Maye Musk, then responded to her son by suggesting Trump supporters should violate voting laws.
“The Democrats have given us another option. You don’t have to register to vote,” she wrote on the app Saturday. “On Election Day, have 10 fake names, go to 10 polling booths and vote 10 times. That’s 100 votes, and it’s not illegal. Maybe we should work the system too.”

Her comments echoed suggestions made by Trump in 2020, when he told voters to illegally vote more than once, urging North Carolina residents to cast a ballot once by mail and once in person.
Maye’s post, which garnered more than 3.7 million views, received massive backlash, with X users tagging the FBI and the Federal Election Commission.
“This woman is inciting people to break election laws. DO SOMETHING,” one response read.

The post was ultimately flagged with a community note explaining “This is, in fact, illegal.” along with a link to the US penal code.

Hours after Maye’s questionable social media remarks, Musk appeared at the former president’s Pennsylvania campaign rally where he claimed to be part of an alt-right conspiracy movement called “Dark MAGA.”

The controversial billionaire’s mother eventually backtracked on her wild voting claims following her son’s campaign event debut. Writing on X: “In Butler, Pennsylvania, we just heard that the Republicans will make sure no illegals vote. Ignore my previous post.”

Ahead of the 2024 election, the GOP has pushed false claims about non-citizens voting illegally for Democrats to justify purging voter rolls. Right-wing efforts to raise doubt about election integrity rose to prominence in 2020 when Trump allies began peddling untrue narratives about “widespread voter fraud” in the election won by President Joe Biden.
Noncitizen voting in US elections is extremely rare, with even the Heritage Foundation’s database listing fewer than 100 cases from 2002 to 2022, out of more than 1 billion lawfully cast ballots.

  • Why Elon’s mother Maye Musk might hold the key to her son’s ‘dark Maga’ views

Why Elon’s mother Maye Musk might hold the key to her son’s ‘dark Maga’ views

Why Elon’s mother Maye Musk might hold the key to her son’s ‘dark Maga’ views

On the surface, Maye Musk is a glamorous super-ager, a model who loves nothing more than to lunch with other smart women. But dig a little deeper and you’ll find traces of a sinister family history that involves the promotion of apartheid and the end of democracy, writes Polly Dunbar

It’s been a busy week for Maye Musk, the 76-year-old model, dietitian, author, and mother of the world’s richest man.

Last Friday, she sashayed down the catwalk in a shimmering gown and fluffy white fur coat to close Chinese label Juzui’s New York Fashion Week show, with the brand describing her in its show notes as “a true embodiment of timeless elegance”. Then, over the weekend, she enjoyed lunch in sunny Miami with two other women associated with immensely powerful, right-wing men: Ivanka Trump, daughter of the president, and Wendi Deng, the former wife of Rupert Murdoch.

“Fun lunch with two smart women,” Maye captioned her photograph on Instagram.

Of course, as a successful model who graced the cover of Sports Illustrated at the age of 74 in 2022 in her swimwear – not to mention the mother of a man who’s been making headlines at almost the same rate as money for years – her high profile is nothing new.

She revels in her role as a “silver influencer”, admired by younger women as an aspirational example of graceful ageing – particularly in China, where she spends a lot of time and where she claims her 2019 book, A Woman Makes a Plan, has been a bestseller.

Yet since her son became Trump’s “first buddy”, Maye has embraced the spotlight in a different way altogether. A self-described former Democrat until she decided that Biden’s government was, in her words, “dishonest and malicious”, she is now, just like Elon, an ardent Trump supporter, using her son’s social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to cheerlead for him.

However, for all her claims to have previously been a long-term Democrat, it’s impossible to delve into her family history without finding a blueprint for the increasingly far-right path that Elon, the Tesla billionaire and now head of the unofficial US Department of Government Efficiency, is taking.

You don’t have to climb too far up Elon’s family tree before you find Maye’s father, Joshua Haldeman, who held white supremacist and conspiracy theory views that he espoused openly. Although he died when his grandson Elon was just a toddler, chilling echoes of his beliefs can be found in a number of Elon’s recent activities.

These range from warring with Jewish institutions (he threatened to sue the Jewish Anti-Defamation League over its complaints about antisemitism on X) to talking about “multiculturalism that dilutes everything” at a far-right rally in Germany last month, endorsing X posts about the racist “great replacement” theory, and expressing a deep-rooted conviction that technocrats, not elected politicians, should be running the world.

So is it Maye, along with her lineage, who holds the key to her son’s embrace of “dark Maga”, as he terms it?

Maye’s father was raised on a farm in Canada and worked as a cowboy, rodeo performer and chiropractor before becoming chair of the Social Credit Party’s national council. The first leader of the conservative populist movement was an antisemite who spoke of a “perversion of cultural ideals” due to there being a “disproportionate number of Jews” in power.

Haldeman also headed the Canadian branch of the Technocracy movement, which was based on the antidemocratic doctrine that governments should be run by unelected technocrats rather than politicians. Its members wore identical grey uniforms and saluted one another in a similar manner to European fascists, but when it was outlawed in Canada, Haldeman took out a newspaper advert supporting it.

Maye and her twin sister Kaye were born in 1948, two of Haldeman’s four children with Winnifred, a dance teacher. The family enjoyed a comfortable lifestyle thanks to Haldeman’s thriving chiropractic practice, with their own small aircraft and a 20-room home, but Haldeman was dissatisfied with Canada’s liberalism. The family motto was “Live dangerously, carefully”, and in 1950, they relocated to South Africa, which was in the process of establishing white apartheid – something Elon’s grandfather actively sought out.

In an article in The Atlantic, Joshua Benton, director of Harvard University’s Nieman Lab, recently revealed Haldeman’s belief that apartheid South Africa was destined to lead “white Christian civilisation” in its fight against the “international conspiracy” of Jewish bankers and the “hordes of colored people” they controlled.

“Instead of the government’s attitude keeping me out of South Africa, it had precisely the opposite effect – it encouraged me to come and settle here,” Haldeman told a South African newspaper after his arrival. On another occasion, he said that Black Africans were “very primitive and must not be taken seriously”.

Haldeman self-published several books, including one called The International Conspiracy in Health, in which he railed against vaccines and the use of fluoride in water (part of the “brain-washing programme of the conspiracy” – a phrase more than a little reminiscent of the “woke mind virus” Elon claims is behind his estranged daughter Vivian’s choice to transition).

Growing up in this atmosphere, Maye began her modelling career at 15 and was a finalist in the 1969 Miss South Africa contest. In 1970, she married Errol Musk, a South African engineer she met in high school, and the pair had three children: Elon, his brother Kimbal, now a restaurateur, and a daughter, Tosca, a filmmaker who runs a steamy romance streaming service called Passionflix.

Errol and Maye’s marriage broke down and they were divorced in 1979. As a single mother, Maye eventually moved back to Canada when Elon was nine, and not before his formative years had been spent at the top of a racial hierarchy during a period in South Africa when the schools taught Christian nationalist versions of the country’s history, and in an atmosphere that became increasingly repressive, with the neo-Nazi Afrikaner Resistance Movement marching to protest against any weakening of apartheid.

Living in Canada, Maye earned degrees in nutrition and dietetics and began a private practice. She has said she was hands-off as a mother, as her own parents had been, giving her children independence. The children all helped with the business that she ran from home, which afforded them training as budding entrepreneurs.

Mother and son are exceptionally close, with Elon paying an emotional tribute to Maye last October, saying: “She’s been my biggest supporter from day one, no matter how crazy my ideas sounded.”

For Maye’s part, she has claimed she first realised her son was a genius when he was three “and his reasoning was sensible”. She finds it “degrading” when people call him “wealthy”, insisting instead: “I think he’s the genius of the world, and people are loving him for that!”

In her late sixties, with her hair a natural striking silver, Maye suddenly found herself feted as a model. Today, as a fashion lover, Maye is delighted that Melania Trump is “bringing elegance to the White House again” – and wherever Elon goes, Maye is usually invited, too. She was an attendee at the Trumps’ Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve parties at Mar-a-Lago, chatting about interplanetary colonisation with their son Barron at the former (Mars is apparently the “best place to start a new civilisation”, she learnt).

At the age of 76, she’s seeing her son become exactly what her father wanted to see: an unelected “expert” at the heart of government, making decisions that will affect millions of lives. In her son, her father’s anti-democratic vision for the way the world should be run is becoming reality. Maye’s prominent profile in China, where her son is also popular, is significant too. She has been described as his secret weapon there – a well-placed figure bringing goodwill to his business and political ambitions.

Although Maye has said that Trump “can completely trust” Elon, who “doesn’t have any alternative [sic] motives”, some commentators wonder if that’s entirely true. Tesla has its biggest factory in Shanghai, and there has been speculation that Elon may be serving two masters. Some say his campaign to cut government waste, including slashing foreign aid, will benefit China and put the US at a disadvantage.

Former US ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul has warned that many of the Trump administration’s early actions – most of which have been spearheaded by Elon – are “directly damaging the United States’ ability to compete with its top geopolitical rival”. He added: “Chinese president Xi Jinping is not shutting down his country’s foreign assistance; he is offering aid, trade, and investment instead.”

Elon’s father Errol has denied the influence of Maye’s family on his son’s political views, pointing out that Elon grew up helping with election campaigns when Errol stood as a candidate for an anti-apartheid party.

However, anti-apartheid campaigning is the polar opposite of what sprang to mind when Elon performed what appeared to many to be something akin to a Nazi salute on the day of Trump’s inauguration – an event Maye also attended, resplendent in a red dress for one celebratory ball, and posing with Trump’s health secretary nominee, the anti-abortion, anti-vax Robert F Kennedy Jr at another.

Maye has since had hundreds of “hateful” comments on X every day from people accusing her of being a Nazi, and has urged her son to file lawsuits against news outlets who reported on his salute. In fact, the revelation that Elon’s mother faced vitriol from the public came from a post written by her Jewish manager, Anna Sherman.

Of course, neither Elon nor Maye is responsible for Haldeman’s views – but as their own veer further to the right, the echoes from Maye’s childhood reverberate ever more loudly.

Rachel Maddow slams MSNBC’s ‘indefensible’ and ‘unnerving’ decision to drop Joy Reid

Rachel Maddow slams MSNBC’s ‘indefensible’ and ‘unnerving’ decision to drop Joy Reid

MSNBC star Rachel Maddow lambasted her own network for parting ways with longtime host Joy Reid and canceling a number of shows anchored by women of color, calling the decision “indefensible” and a “bad mistake.”

Following a series of reports over the weekend that Reid was out at MSNBC amid a programming overhaul, new network president Rebecca Kutler made it official Monday. Besides Reid losing not only her weeknight show but also her job, the liberal cable news channel also dropped programs hosted by Alex Wagner, Katie Phang, and others while rearranging much of the network’s lineup.

Though the new schedule won’t take effect until April, Reid is leaving MSNBC immediately.

At the same time, she was given the opportunity on Monday night to broadcast a farewell episode, which featured Maddow, Nicolle Wallace and Lawrence O’Donnell. In paying tribute to her departing colleague, Maddow told Reid that she loved her and was “bereft that The ReidOut is ending,” while Wallace described it as “losing a limb.”

Roughly 90 minutes later, Maddow took a “point of personal privilege” during her show to address the “changes that have been announced at MSNBC over the last couple of days.” Noting that she would go back to just hosting on Monday nights after Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office is complete, adding that this was always the original plan, Maddow pointed out that Wagner would not be returning to anchor the 9 p.m. ET slot on Tuesday-Friday. Instead, former White House press secretary Jen Psaki – who had been hosting on Monday nights and Sunday afternoons – would take over that role.

“So that’s a big change,” Maddow told viewers. “An even bigger programming change is at 7 p.m. Eastern, where Joy Reid’s show The Reidout ended tonight. And Joy is not taking a different job in the network. She is leaving the network altogether, and that is very, very, very hard to take.”

Stating that there has been “no colleague for whom I have had more affection and more respect than Joy Reid,” Maddow then directed her ire at MSNBC’s leadership for canceling Reid’s weeknight show.

“I love everything about her. I have learned so much from her,” she declared. “I have so much more to learn from her. I do not want to lose her as a colleague here at MSNBC, and personally, I think it is a bad mistake to let her walk out the door. It is not my call, and I understand that. But that’s what I think.”

Maddow also took aim at the network for discontinuing several shows that were hosted by minorities, specifically in primetime. While Wagner is being replaced by Psaki, who is white, the new panel program that will take over Reid’s time slot is hosted by Symone Sanders Townsend, Michael Steele and Alicia Menendez – all people of color.

“I will tell you. It is also unnerving to see that on a network where we’ve got two – count them – two nonwhite hosts in primetime, both of our nonwhite hosts in primetime are losing their shows, as is Katie Phang on the weekend,” she said. “And that feels worse than bad, no matter who replaces them. That feels indefensible. And I do not defend it.”

While Reid is leaving the network, both Phang and Wagner will remain at MSNBC as the network’s legal correspondent and senior political analyst, respectively. Also, Phang’s show was largely impacted by the network’s decision to no longer broadcast from Miami, where her program was based. On top of that, sources tell The Independent that MSNBC is in discussions with Politico’s Eugene Daniels to host a program, suggesting the network will continue to feature a diverse lineup across its programming schedule.

At the same time. Maddow had nothing but compliments for those who are taking on new on-air roles at the network, saying “everybody who’s going to be in anchor chairs from here on out are great colleagues and great at what they do.” Still, she was highly critical of the way the production staff was “being put through the wringer” by management.

“Dozens of producers and staffers – including some who are among the most experienced and most talented and most specialist producers in the building – are facing being laid off,” she proclaimed. “They’re being invited to reapply for new jobs. That has never happened at this scale in this way before when it comes to programming changes, presumably because it’s not the right way to treat people. And it’s inefficient and it’s unnecessary, and it kind of drops the bottom out of whether or not people feel like this is a good place to work.”

A network source familiar with the situation, however, told The Independent that the layoffs aren’t widespread and they are just attempting to reallocate personnel needed to support new programs. Additionally, the source noted that there’s nearly a one-to-one ratio of jobs impacted to new opportunities to reapply for and that these jobs will not be posted externally until all internal employees have had a chance to apply. The source also stressed that even more job opportunities will be opened in the coming months.

This is far from the first time that Maddow has chastised her employer on air for decisions she disagrees with. When NBC News briefly hired former Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel as a political analyst, Maddow called the hiring “inexplicable” and akin to a district attorney hiring a “mobster.”

The network eventually reversed course and dropped McDaniel amid the on-air revolt.

Maddow also called out the network last March for airing Trump’s victory speech after his Super Tuesday primary victory, claiming it was “irresponsible to broadcast” the future president’s remarks since it was “allowing somebody to knowingly lie on your air.”

The son of 1994 World Figure Skating pairs champions Evgenia “Zhenya” Shishkova and Vadim Naumov broke down in tears as he honored his parents, who died in the American Airlines tragedy, while performing at the Legacy on Ice event.

On Sunday, March 2, Maxim Naumov, 23, was among many members of the skating community to take to the ice to pay tribute to the 28 members of the figure skating community who were onboard American Airlines flight 5342, which collided with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 29.

Multiple skaters, along with Maxim’s parents, had been heading back to D.C. after attending the U.S. Figure Skating National Development Camp in Wichita, Kansas. Maxim had also been in Wichita and finished fourth in the senior men’s competition at the U.S. National Championships on Jan. 26, just days before his parents’ death.

The bodies of all 67 victims have since been recovered following the crash over the Potomac River, authorities have confirmed.

Sunday’s Legacy on Ice event at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. raised funds for the families of the victims, as well as the first responders who were responded to the crash. Proceeds will benefit them through the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation’s Legacy on Ice program.

At the event, Maxim skated a solo to “Ave Maria,” which he dedicated to his parents, before he sank to the ice crying and wiped away tears at the end of his emotional performance. In a clip shared on X, Maxim skated onto the ice holding two white roses before placing them on a table filled with more white roses and candles at the side of the rink.

Another clip shared on X by the Team USA account showed Maxim holding up a candle while leaving the ice alongside some of his fellow skaters as the crowd clapped in solidarity.

Three-time U.S. champion Johnny Weir was among those getting emotional at the event, telling PEOPLE following his solo skate to “Memory,” “I think that when you’re an athlete, you’re taught to have ice in your veins and to push through anything that affects your community. And ours is so small that even if you don’t know everybody, you know them all. They’re all family in some way.”

Eleven of the victims were young skaters from five different clubs, according to a tribute video previously shared to the U.S. Figure Skating Instagram page.

Weir, 40, tells PEOPLE, “There are so many little skaters out there, so I want to show them that it’s okay to continue and to dream and to sparkle for the people that we’ve lost. Losing these skaters, we lost a generation of dreamers.”

“You never know what’s going to happen in sports. You can never predict it. We lost beautiful coaches, parents of skaters. We lost a generation of people that only make our little world stronger, and it’s heartbreaking,” he adds.

Among Sunday’s appearances by some of the biggest names in the skating community, there was a group performance to Beyoncé’s “Halo” by the skaters who had trained at the Development Camp for Team USA, as well as a performance by Sofia Bezkorovainaya, who skated a solo to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Bezkorovainaya, 14, was close friends with crash victim Everly Livingston, 14, who died alongside her sister Alydia Livingston, 11, on Jan. 29.

Retired figure skater Scott Hamilton — who won a gold medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics — also spoke to PEOPLE about the tragedy at Sunday’s event. “What happened was so unspeakable, unthinkable and just so tragic and devastating that I was smothered, I mean, really literally, in sadness — I couldn’t get over it,” he says.

“I just it felt so heavy on me that just I couldn’t shake it. And then I just figured there’s probably a lot of people like me that don’t know what to do with this,” the 66-year-old adds while speaking about turning to prayer following the incident.

2024 world champion, Ilia Malinin adds of paying tribute to the victims, “We’re all here to remember them and to keep them in our hearts, keep them in our heads, to just keep them in our hearts when we skate, and just skate for them.”

“Today was very emotional and very hard for all of us. It’s really an experience for us to go through, and we’re just glad that we’re all here as the figure skating family and community, just to support everyone and support each each other,” the 20-year-old continues, adding that it was “traumatic” to have known a lot of the people who were lost on the flight.

Có thể là hình ảnh về 3 người, mọi người đang chơi bóng rổ, áo bóng rổ và văn bản cho biết 'Ami Amica LTICS JOSTO 人 CELTIC 4 8'

In a shocking turn of events, the Boston Celtics have assembled a formidable trio that has fans buzzing and opponents quaking in their sneakers. With the addition of Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to the already dynamic roster featuring Jaylen Brown, the Celtics are poised to make a serious run for the championship. This powerhouse combination is not just about talent; it’s about the potential chemistry and the sheer impact these players can have on the court.

    ## Jaylen Brown: The Rising Star

Jaylen Brown has been a cornerstone of the Celtics since he was drafted in 2016. Known for his explosive athleticism, defensive prowess, and ability to score from anywhere on the court, Brown has consistently elevated his game each season. Coming off a career year, where he averaged over 26 points per game, Brown is not just a scorer; he’s a leader who can rally his teammates and inspire confidence.

His work ethic and dedication to improvement have made him a fan favorite in Boston. With the addition of Holiday and Porzingis, Brown’s role will evolve, allowing him to focus on what he does best—attacking the rim and creating opportunities for others. The synergy between these three players could redefine the Celtics’ offensive strategy, making them a nightmare for opposing defenses.

    ## Jrue Holiday: The Veteran Presence

Jrue Holiday’s acquisition was a game-changer for the Celtics. As a seasoned veteran with championship experience, Holiday brings not only skill but also invaluable leadership to the locker room. Known for his defensive tenacity, Holiday is capable of guarding multiple positions, making him an essential asset on both ends of the floor.

His ability to facilitate the offense and create plays will complement Brown’s scoring ability perfectly. Holiday’s experience in high-pressure situations, including his pivotal role in the Milwaukee Bucks’ championship run, will provide the Celtics with the poise they need in crucial moments. Expect Holiday to be the glue that holds this trio together, ensuring that they maximize their potential.

    ## Kristaps Porzingis: The Game-Changer

Kristaps Porzingis, often referred to as the “Unicorn” for his unique skill set, adds an entirely new dimension to the Celtics’ game plan. Standing at 7’3″, Porzingis is not only a dominant force in the paint but also possesses the shooting range of a guard. His ability to stretch the floor and knock down three-pointers will create more space for Brown and Holiday to operate, making the Celtics’ offense even more lethal.

Injuries have plagued Porzingis throughout his career, but when healthy, he is a matchup nightmare for defenders. His shot-blocking ability and rebounding skills will significantly bolster the Celtics’ defense, allowing them to play a more aggressive style. The combination of Porzingis’ size and skill will force opposing teams to rethink their defensive strategies.

    ## The Impact on the Celtics’ Championship Aspirations

With Brown, Holiday, and Porzingis leading the charge, the Celtics are not just contenders; they are legitimate championship hopefuls. The Eastern Conference is stacked with talent, but this trio has the potential to elevate Boston above the competition. Their diverse skill sets and complementary playing styles create a dynamic that could be unstoppable.

The chemistry between these players will be crucial. If they can develop a strong on-court rapport quickly, the Celtics could find themselves dominating not just in the regular season but also in the playoffs. Fans are eager to see how head coach Joe Mazzulla will integrate these players into the existing system, but the excitement is palpable.

    ## Conclusion: A New Era for the Celtics

The arrival of Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis alongside Jaylen Brown marks the dawn of a new era for the Boston Celtics. This trio has the potential to redefine the franchise’s identity and restore its status as a perennial contender in the NBA. With their combined talent, experience, and determination, the Celtics are ready to make waves in the league.

As the season approaches, all eyes will be on Boston to see how this shocking new lineup unfolds. Will they rise to the occasion and bring home the championship? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure: the Celtics are back, and they mean business.

But Wyatt’s affection for Taylor goes beyond the music; it’s about the special connection they share. Taylor’s presence in Wyatt’s life has made her feel valued and adored, creating a bond that radiates warmth and joy. Whether they are singing together or sharing secrets during snack time, their relationship is a beautiful example of love and support.

As Wyatt navigates her early childhood, she is already displaying a vibrant personality filled with confidence and sass. Recently, she even teased her family about having a crush at preschool, showcasing her playful spirit. Taylor, who has her own love story with Travis Kelce, finds joy in Wyatt’s innocent secrets, reminiscing about her own experiences growing up.

The Kelsey family, known for their strong and loving dynamic, serves as a perfect backdrop for Wyatt’s upbringing. Jason and Kylie Kelsey exemplify a supportive relationship that inspires Taylor and Travis, who hope to create a similar environment for their future family. With such role models, Wyatt is destined to grow up strong, independent, and self-assured.

Taylor Swift’s influence on Wyatt is profound. Not only does she shower her niece with thoughtful gifts, but she also makes every moment special, ensuring that Wyatt feels like the most important person in the room. From stylish outfits to heartfelt hugs, Taylor’s presence is a constant source of joy and inspiration.

As Wyatt continues to grow, she will undoubtedly carry the lessons learned from her aunt. Taylor’s music, filled with themes of self-worth, love, and independence, will serve as a guiding light for Wyatt as she navigates her own journey. The values of kindness, strength, and authenticity that Taylor embodies are the very lessons that Jason and Kylie wish to instill in their daughters.

In a world where celebrity culture often overshadows genuine connections, the bond between Wyatt Kelsey and Taylor Swift stands out as a beacon of love and inspiration. As Wyatt grows up with such a powerful role model, there’s no doubt she will shine just as brightly, embodying the confidence and fearlessness that Taylor represents.

As we watch this beautiful relationship unfold, one can’t help but wonder: How will Taylor’s influence shape Wyatt’s future? Will she follow in her aunt’s footsteps, or will she carve her own unique path? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain—Wyatt Kelsey is destined for greatness, with Taylor Swift cheering her on every step of the way.

Oscars 2025: The Worst Moments That Shocked the World!

The 2025 Oscars opened with top performances, emotional moments and confusing incidents. There were many notable highlights in this year’s awards ceremony.

    Memorable moments

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s opening performance brought a spectacular start to the 2025 Oscars. Grande appeared in a bright red dress, singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow , followed immediately by Erivo with Home . When the two held hands and sang the classic high notes of Defying Gravity , the audience almost exploded.

Despite not being nominated, Adam Sandler still stole the spotlight at the awards ceremony. Appearing in the crowd in a hoodie and sports shorts, Sandler immediately became a “victim” of host Conan O’Brien: “You look like you’re playing poker at 2 o’clock.” Adam Sandler pretended to be angry and left the audience, but not before inviting everyone to go out to play basketball.

Kieran Culkin, who won Best Supporting Actor for A Real Pain , did not forget to thank his wife, Jazz Charton. But what made the audience laugh was the story he revealed on stage: “Last year, I said if I won an Emmy, my wife would give me a third child. She agreed because she thought I wouldn’t win. Then I said I wanted four children, and she said, ‘You can only have a fourth child if you win an Oscar.’” And now that the golden statuette is in his hands, Culkin did not miss the opportunity to repeat his promise.

After the formal honors for the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), Conan O’Brien invited them on stage… to tell a joke! One of the most memorable jokes: “Our condolences to everyone who lost their homes – I mean the producers of Joker 2.” This meaningful and humorous tribute had the entire audience laughing.

    Controversial moment

While millions of people around the world watched the Oscars, some viewers in the US were unable to watch due to a system error on Hulu. According to DownDetector, more than 30,000 people were affected. The fact that a major streaming platform like Hulu “crashed” on Hollywood’s most important night was a huge shock to many.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the 60th anniversary tribute to James Bond featuring Lisa (Blackpink), Doja Cat, and Raye left the audience confused. Although the video summarizing the history of 007 was quite reasonable, it was immediately followed by Margaret Qualley suddenly dancing on stage, Lisa flying down from the ceiling, and then Doja Cat and Raye singing the Bond theme song one after another.

It’s worth noting that this year’s show cut back on performances from the Best Original Song nominees, leaving many wondering, “Why spend time on this instead of the nominated songs?”

Andy Reid Breaks Silence on Taylor Swift Getting Booed at Super Bowl—His Message Says It All!

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid recently shared his admiration for Taylor Swift, commending her for the way she has handled public scrutiny.

Swift, who has been a strong supporter of her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, faced some backlash from fans during the 2025 Super Bowl.

Earlier this month, Swift was in attendance at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, cheering on the Chiefs as they aimed for a historic three-peat. However, their hopes were dashed when the Philadelphia Eagles delivered a dominant performance to claim the championship.

As Swift appeared on the stadium’s big screen, some members of the crowd voiced their disapproval with loud boos.

Despite the mixed reception, Reid had nothing but praise for the pop superstar. Speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, he described Swift as a “good girl” and credited her for managing the attention with the right attitude.

“She’s a good girl,” Reid told Pro Football Talk. “She handles that whole thing the right way. That’s a tough deal. She does a great job of handling it.”

Reid also took a moment to commend Kelce for navigating the heightened media attention surrounding his relationship with Swift. “Kelce, I think, does a great job with handling it,” the coach added.

Acknowledging that scrutiny of players’ loved ones is nothing new in professional sports, Reid emphasized that Swift is just as much a part of the Chiefs’ extended family as other significant others.

“She’s part of the team and, like the other girlfriends and wives, they’re part of it. And that’s all part of the process,” Reid explained.

Super Bowl Fallout and Kelce’s Uncertain Future

The boos directed at Swift weren’t the only jeers heard at the Super Bowl—Chiefs players also encountered a less-than-welcoming reception from what appeared to be a pro-Eagles crowd when they emerged from the tunnel.

Since the Super Bowl loss, Swift and Kelce have largely kept a low profile. On February 18, the New Heights podcast, hosted by Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce, announced a brief break in their regular episode schedule.

“No new episode this week, but WE’LL BE BACK with offseason episodes with amazing guests soon,” the podcast’s official account shared on social media.

Meanwhile, speculation has grown over whether Kelce will return for another NFL season. The 34-year-old tight end, who turns 36 in October, has openly discussed retirement considerations. On a recent New Heights episode, Kelce admitted he is still weighing his options, saying he’s “kicking every can I can down the road.”

Reid revealed that he has advised Kelce to take some time away from football before making any decisions about his future.

“I told him, ‘Get away. Don’t think about all that. Just relax, man. Chill down, and then we got time for that,’” Reid said at the combine. “I know it’s out there that there is a deadline, but he and I talk all the time. So, I’ll figure it out from him.”
