The youngest players in the WNBA are some of the league’s biggest draws. But their popularity doesn’t match their paychecks.

In an appearance on the “Richer Lives by SoFi” podcast, Los Angeles Sparks star Cameron Brink says she’s heard the criticisms of WNBA salaries, including complaints that ”$70,000 is nothing.” The 22-year-old took issue with that framing of her paycheck.

“My mom was the first to go to college in her family. My grandma worked three jobs as a single mom. I do not take that money for granted,” Brink said. “That is good money. That is a salary that we work very hard for.”

While she noted that it “would be nice” to see WNBA paychecks get bigger, she added that she doesn’t expect to be making as much as her NBA counterparts any time soon.

Last season’s top drafted rookies like Brink, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese earned a little over $70,000 each. They’ll be paid a few thousand more in their second season. By comparison Victor Wembanyama, the NBA’s reigning Rookie of the Year, made $12.1 million his first year in the league.

The WNBA’s highest paid players earn just over $250,000, while the NBA’s biggest earners make more than $50 million per season.

“Realistically, we’re never probably going to get where the NBA is,” Brink said. “Maybe in 20 years, 30, 35 years. As women, we have to work so hard for the money we do make. I do think that we could get to the same level, but it’s going to take a while.”

Growing up, Brink said she would hear from friends and classmates who warned her about how much she’d make as a pro athlete, suggesting that she pursue a career in modeling instead.

“I can tell you right now, I’ve modeled, I will not make more money modeling,” she said on the podcast.

Instead, Brink is realistic about her WNBA pay, understanding that her partnerships and endorsement deals are how she’ll build her wealth.

As a college student she signed an endorsement deal with New Balance to become the brand’s first female basketball player and has quickly seen her star rise since graduating. Her 1.3 million Instagram followers make her one of the most-followed players in the league.

“I jumped right in. I signed with an agent the day after [NIL was legal],” she said. “I was like, ‘Why not capitalize? Why not profit off what I’m doing?’”

She’s careful about her spending, telling CNBC Make It last year that she saved 90% of her WNBA income. In her conversation with SoFi, Brink credited her dad with imparting the importance of saving.

“I would love to spend more, but I definitely know the importance of saving and putting away that nest egg for me later in life,” she said. “You only play basketball for so long. I’m definitely trying to capitalize on the money I’m making now.”

While Brink doesn’t have the ability to negotiate her WNBA contracts, she is trying to maximize her earnings while she can.

“You really have to learn how to advocate for yourself and not be afraid to step on toes. At the end of the day, it’s a business and people are gonna lowball you,” Brink said of the world of endorsements. “If you think you’re worth more, speak up.”

The fact that adult writers are spending their time dissecting my face, my body, my choices, it’s disturbing,” Brown shared. “The fact that some of these articles are written by women? Even worse. We always talk about supporting and uplifting young women, but when the time comes, it seems easier to tear them down for clicks. Disillusioned people can’t handle seeing a girl become a woman on her terms, not theirs.”

The Enola Holmes star went on, “I refuse to apologize for growing up. I refuse to make myself smaller to fit the unrealistic expectations of people who can’t handle seeing a girl become a woman. I will not be shamed for how I look, how I dress, or how I present myself. We have become a society where it’s so much easier to criticize than it is to pay a compliment. Why is the knee-jerk reaction to say something horrible rather than to say something nice? If you have a problem with that, I have to wonder—what is it that actually makes you so uncomfortable?”

“Let’s do better. Not just for me, but for every young girl who deserves to grow up without fear of being torn apart for simply existing,” Brown concluded her post.

This isn’t the first time Brown has hit back at criticism of her appearance.

In January, the actress clapped back at internet trolls who claimed she looked older than her age via Instagram. “Women grow!!” she wrote in a since expired Instagram Story, per Page Six. “Not sorry about it :).”

Last week, Brown subtly responded to social media posts that claimed she looked older than she is via her Instagram Story. Brown reshared a British Vogue article headlined, “No One Cares How Old You Think Millie Bobby Brown Looks,” and wrote, “Thank you.”

Kylie Kelce is revealing how she and husband Jason Kelce are handling their current baby name search — and the rom-com that’s giving them some inspiration.

“Not gonna lie, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is one of my favorite movies of all-time, but absolutely my favorite rom-com,” Kylie, 32, confessed to Kate Hudson in a teaser for the Thursday, March 6, episode of her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast. “We’ve even considered Andie as a name for our fourth girl.”

Kylie and Jason, 37, announced in November 2024 that they are expecting another baby. The married couple are already parents to daughters Wyatt, 5, Ellie, 3, and Bennett, 2. Now, as they prepare to expand their brood for a fourth time, Jason and Kylie have been on the search for another neutral name for their next little girl.

Hudson, 45, famously played journalist Andie Anderson in 2003’s How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. At one point, her love interest Ben Berry (Matthew McConaughey) takes her home to meet his family, who proclaims that she’s a “female Andy” — spelled with an “ie” instead of a traditional “y.”

“Our first is Wyatt, our second is Elliotte and our third is Bennett and we were like, ‘Andie would fit in there and it would be so cool,’” Kylie recalled to Hudson. “It’s funny, I actually met someone at a pool and we were talking about girl names and they said that they named their daughter Anderson as in ‘Andie Anderson’ and call her Andie.”

Hudson was over the moon about the idea, proclaiming that both Andie and Anderson were “the cutest” names for a baby girl.

“It’s so bad—,” Kylie quipped.

Since launching her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast in late 2024, Kylie has been candid about her and Jason’s struggles to decide on a moniker for the newborn.

“Even if I did have a name picked out, I’d probably keep that one in the family,” she said on a December 2024 episode. “What I will say: We don’t have a name picked out, so you’re not missing out on anything.”

The following month, Kylie told podcast guest Alex Morgan that she and Jason were leaning toward another “gender-neutral” name.

“I feel like we have to lean a little bit towards those gender-neutral names for our fourth because we have Wyatt, Elliotte and Bennett,” she explained. “If we do a full-commit to a girly name at this point, it would not sit well with the other three eventually.”

While fans likely won’t learn which baby name Jason and Kylie picked until their eventual announcement, Andie Kelce does have a sweet ring to it, if you ask Us.
