Whoopi Goldberg was noticeably absent on this morning’s episode of The View.

The co-hosts strutted out to the show’s catchy theme song as Joy Behar settled into Goldberg’s chair, kicking off the episode by explaining the EGOT recipient’s whereabouts.

“So, as you might notice, Whoopi is not here because she’s with the Pope at the Vatican,” Behar said, joking, “Is she gonna get canonized? Please don’t tell me we have to call her St. Whoopi.”

The comedian asked, “What’s going on with her and the Pope?” to which Sunny Hostin replied, “They have a relationship. They like each other.”

Behar noted that this “is not the first time” Goldberg has traveled to the Vatican to meet Pope Francis.

Goldberg previously missed a few episodes of The View to visit Vatican City in October 2023. When she returned to the talk show, she described her trip to Rome as the “most exquisite experience,” telling the audience that she had been trying to meet the Pope for 11 years.

“This is something I’ve tried to do … and the next thing I knew I was in Rome, talking to him,” she said. “He was quite amazing. He is exactly what I hoped he would be, which is a Pope for all people, regardless of religion, which I really appreciated.”

She continued, “I wanted to thank him, for all of my gay friends and for all of my divorced friends, because he basically has said, ‘Listen, God loves you no matter what. Come back to the church.’ … I thought, I’m gonna walk into this building and I’m going to burst into flames. But as it turns out, I did not.”

Goldberg also revealed that the Pope is a big fan of Sister Act. The star said she brought him memorabilia from the hit film because “he asked for it.”

Amid his DWI scandal, the singer, 43, and the actress, 42, made a joint post with a video of themselves doing seated pull-ups in what appeared to be their home gym.

At the beginning of the Instagram reel, Biel covered up her obviously toned figure with a long-sleeved top and leggings but showed off her muscles as she did a number of pull-ups with ease.

She completed her set of pull-ups before leaning over in exhaustion and throwing her head back.

The longtime couple captioned the clip: ‘Ok now ladies…’

He wore a black T-shirt and colorful basketball shorts as well as a weighted vest too.

The reshared clip was not only filmed prior to him kicking off his ongoing The Forget Tomorrow World Tour but also before his June DWI arrest.

Two months before he shared their couple’s workout routine clip, he was pulled over under the suspicion of drunk driving in Long Island.

On June 18, it was reported that he failed a series of sobriety tests at the time, according to a police report exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com.

Recently, Timberlake was also suspended from driving as he’s re-arraigned, which he appeared to be shrugging off with his lighthearted social media update.

Judge suspends Justin Timberlake’s licence over drink-drive arrest in New York

But police documents obtained by DailyMail.com lay bare new details of the now-infamous traffic stop, which saw the pop star fail a series of sobriety tests, refuse a chemical test and, ultimately, arrested in the affluent summer resort town.

There, the officer who arrested him took inventory of Timberlake’s property, which included a Rolex watch, a black vape pen, a gold ring, a wallet which contained three $100 bills, one $5 bill, and one single.

The new details of the report come after Timberlake was re-arraigned on the DWI charge in a virtual court appearance earlier this month.

During the hearing, Judge Carl Irace suspended his driving privileges in New York, citing his refusal to take a breath test during his arrest.

Appearing via video link from Antwerp, Belgium — where he performed at the beginning of August — Timberlake again pleaded not guilty to one charge of driving while intoxicated.

Indiana Fever rookie star Caitlin Clark has caused a hysterical stir on social media after delivering a controversial take on hot dogs.

The Fever posted a video of Caitlin Clark and several of her teammates being asked to name “the most questionable food combo.” Katie Lou Samuelson said macaroni and cheese with ketchup before Clark stated, “Mayo on hot dogs, you know who you are.”

As you would expect, Clark’s interesting take on this popular food combination led to plenty of hilarious responses from fans:

Several fans pointed out that Caitlin Clark’s “You know who you are” comment was a reference to her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery. Apparently, mayonnaise on hot dogs is one of his favorite food combos.

Clark and the Fever are in the third week of their mid-season Olympic break. They lost their last game to Dallas on July 17 by a final score of 101-93, dropping Indiana to 11-15 on the season.

The Fever haven’t qualified for the postseason since 2016, and they haven’t finished above .500 since 2015. But Clark has Indiana (currently the No. 7 seed) in a good spot to finally end the postseason drought this year, as they’re three games clear on the ninth-seeded Atlanta Dream.

Indiana’s playoff hopes looked doomed early when they lost eight of their first nine games, but a surge in the month of June launched them right back into the playoff race. Barring a brutal late-season collapse, Fever fans will finally get to enjoy the return of playoff basketball.

Caitlin Clark Is Having A Historic Rookie Season

The first overall pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft has certainly come as advertised, averaging 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game. At this time, it’s safe to say that Clark will run away with WNBA Rookie of the Year honors.

Clark has been everything the Fever could have dreamed of, not to mention how much of a role she has played in increasing television ratings and ticket and merchandise sales.

The WNBA is set to resume this week after pausing for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games, with several stars returning home with gold.

Clark was shockingly left off the team, so she got to enjoy some downtime. The way Sides sees it, she will be a greater threat to defenses around the league now that she’s rested.

The Fever will play the Phoenix Mercury on Friday in a matchup pitting Clark against Diana Taurasi. And, speaking ahead of the fixture, Sides pointed out that the point guard hadn’t taken a real break from the court since she started her senior season with Iowa in 2023, although she had to make sure the All-Star rookie was staying off the court.

“The break for Caitlin… We gave them some great opportunities to get enough rest,” she told ‘Locked On Women’s Basketball.’

“Now, she’s also a worker. I was always having to check in and make sure she was getting the rest that she needed. That’s just her mentality, which is why she is who she is… She needed to just get a break. A mental break, a physical break.”

Christie Sides added that Caitlin Clark would be a different player coming out of the break as she needed mental and physical withdrawal from the game, something which should give her an edge for the remainder of the season.

“A month of rest for Caitlin Clark is exactly what she needed, and I think you’ll see a difference when we come out on Friday,” she remarked.

Clark’s rookie season has been far from perfect, but she’s still been amazing, averaging 17.1 points and 8.2 assists a game while inching toward the Rookie of the Year Award.

Should Sides be correct in her assessment, the WNBA might not be ready for a rested Caitlin Clark.

With NBA 2K25 set to be released on Sep. 6, we finally got our first look at WNBA stars Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese in a video game.

Many on social media have gone to comment sections to discuss and make a few jokes about the two making their way to 2K for the first time.

The WNBA was first added to the video game franchise in 2K20 and has been included in every year since. “We’re excited to roll out this new feature in NBA 2K20 because we know how important the WNBA is to the world of basketball,” said Jeff Thomas, SVP of Development, Visual Concepts, when first announcing the feature.

Adding the WNBA has always been a controversial move from 2K, as many believe that the game should only be focused on the NBA. However, there’s no denying that Clark and Reese made some real noise to the WNBA this year.

The Indiana Fever, anchored by back-to-back No. 1 overall picks Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, are the biggest draw in the WNBA, selling out arenas and shattering TV viewership records.

In the 25-year history of the WNBA All-Star game, Indianapolis is one of four cities with a WNBA franchise that has never hosted All-Star weekend, joining Atlanta, Dallas, and Los Angeles.

Certainly, in my four years at the league, it’s amazing.”

The Fever had three All-Stars this season (Clark, Boston and Kelsey Mitchell) and sit in seventh place in the WNBA standings, hoping to snap a 7-year playoff drought.

At the mid-season break, the Fever were the league’s most-viewed team with 10 broadcasts that broke viewership records. The Fever saw a 264.6% increase in ticket sales (year over year). Indiana is the top WNBA team in total home and away attendance.

The WNBA All-Star game is yet another major sporting event for the city’s downtown, following the NBA All-Star game and U.S. Olympic swim trials. Add it to the Big Ten Championship game staying through 2028, Big Ten men’s and women’s basketball tournaments returning and future men’s (2026) and women’s (2028) Final Fours.

The 2024 NBA All-Star Game generated $290 million in economic revenue and $112 million in media exposure for Indianapolis and Central Indiana, according to a report released by Pacers Sports & Entertainment.

Taylor Swift has issued an important message to fans planning on attending her London shows.

Officials at London’s Wembley Stadium have requested that Taylor Swift fans without tickets refrain from gathering outside the venue during her upcoming Eras Tour performances.

The practice, known as Tay Gating on social media, involves fans listening to concerts from outside the venue.

However, Wembley Stadium, located in a residential area, has discouraged this behavior for Swift’s five upcoming shows starting Thursday, Aug. 15.

A statement on the stadium’s website reads: “We kindly ask that only those with tickets or those visiting our merchandise megastore turn up to the stadium to avoid disruption to the local residents and businesses.”

The venue added that those without tickets “will be moved on.”

This announcement follows an incident in Munich last month where approximately 50,000 fans gathered on hills behind the Olympiastadion to listen to Swift’s performances.

Swift acknowledged these fans on Instagram, writing: “I’ve been watching so many videos of the crowds out there fully participating in the show from afar, all that joy… I’m feeling really grateful for the unexpected memories this tour has created.”

The London shows come after Swift’s Vienna concerts were canceled due to an alleged terror threat.

However, the Metropolitan Police stated to PEOPLE that “There’s nothing to indicate that the matters being investigated by the Austrian authorities will have an impact on upcoming events here in London.”

Wembley Stadium has emphasized that “everyone will be checked before entry” and “no weapons of any kind” are permitted.

Swift’s London performances, featuring support acts including Paramore, Griff, and Suki Waterhouse, are scheduled to run until Aug. 20.
