“As much as Roger Federer is a great champion, he is also not a good man” – When Novak Djokovic’s father claimed that the Swiss “attacked” his son

Novak Djokovic’s father, Srdjan Djokovic, once claimed that Roger Federer “attacked” his son when he was a teenager.

Novak Djokovic’s father said that Roger Federer was not a good man

Srdjan told Serbia’s K1 TV in 2021 that Federer knew someone better than him was coming. He also said that while the Swiss was a great champion, he was not a good man.

“15 years ago he attacked my son when he was still young at 18-19 years old, he knew that someone better than him was coming. I said then that he was a great champion, the best at that time, but as much as he is a great champion, he is also not a good man,” Novak Djokovic’s father said.

The incident in question occurred during the 2006 Davis Cup, when Switzerland faced Serbia and Montenegro in the World Group play-off. At the time, Federer accused Djokovic of faking injuries during a match against Stan Wawrinka, calling him “a joke.”

“You know I don’t trust his injuries. I mean I’m serious, and I think that he’s a joke when he comes down to these injuries,” the Swiss said.

Federer faced Djokovic in that tie and won 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 as Switzerland went on to beat Serbia and Montenegro 4-1 to qualify for the World Group. However, they were eliminated in the first round by eventual semifinalists Australia.

Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer faced each other in five Grand Slam finals, with the Serb winning four of those. The only time Federer beat Djokovic in a Major final was at the 2007 US Open, when he won 7-6(2), 7-6(4), 6-4.

At the 2014 Wimbledon Championships, the Serb edged the Swiss 6-7(7), 6-4, 7-6(5), 5-7, 6-4. The two locked horns in the title clash of the grasscourt Major again in 2015, with Djokovic winning 7-6(1), 6-7(10), 6-4, 6-3.

That same year they also met in the US Open, and the Serb triumphed 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 to win his second title at Flushing Meadows.

The last meeting between Federer and Djokovic in a Grand Slam final came at the 2019 Wimbledon Championships, where the Serb won a thriller 7-6(5), 1-6, 7-6(4), 4-6, 13-12.

Overall, the two faced each other on 50 occasions, with Djokovic leading 27-23 in the head-to-head.

“Novak Djokovic is gonna lose US Open in 1R, the press will call him finished that will motivate him” – Fans react to Serb partying in a nightclub

Novak Djokovic carrying his celebrations on in a cub after winning the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics has sparked polarizing views from tennis fans. While many feel the Serb might be ousted in the initial rounds his title defence at theUS Open, others feel that he will be careful with the Olympic gold monkey off his shoulders and will be a huge threat at Flushing Meadows.

The 37-year-old won the Olympic gold in Paris a few weeks back, when he defeated Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(3), 7-6(2) in the final. He thus became only the fifth player in history to complete the career Golden Slam and joined Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, and Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams.

Following this, the Serb withdrew from the Masters 1000 events in Montreal and Cincinnati.

A recent clip of Djokovic was posted on X (formerly Twitter) where he can be seen partying in a club. The user who posted the clip expressed his concern for the US Open due to Serb continuing his celebrations.

Fans reacted to this concern with different views. One of the fans said the Serb would lose in the opening round and will be mocked by the tennis fraternity which reignite the spark inside him to win again.

“He is gonna lose us open in the first rounds. The press and twitter will troll him and call him finished that will motivate him to win again lol.”

Another fan said that the defending US Open champion is capable of stepping it up like he did at the Olympics.

“Dont worry. If he wants he will level up his game again. But just if he wants like he did in the Olympics.”

Here are some other reactions from the fans:

“With the Olympic gold and the subsequent celebrations, the residuum of his PTSD syndromes are being released and healed. Novak will do better for the rest of the year and in 2025. Be a fearless warrior (like Novak), not a fearful worrier, my friend!” a fan opined.

“He will be as high as a kite at the US Open,” a fan said.

“He’ll either lose in R1 or plays so carefree that he kicks everyone’s a**,” another fan opined.

“He sacrificed the best years of his life and he achieved everything. He can now don’t give a c**p on any tournament and be in clubs and celebrate what’s important for him. He earned it,” a fan said.

While speaking to the media after his win, Novak Djokovic mentioned how the semifinals impeded him from his gold of winning and Olympic gold.

“The fact that I win the bronze in the first Olympic games and ever since then failed to win the medal and played three out of four Olympic games in semifinals and couldn’t overcome that obstacle.”

He then said how at the age of 37 against an in-form Carlos Alcaraz, who according to the Serb is probably the best player in the world, and taking everything else into account, this was likely the biggest sporting achievement of his career.

“Now at age 37 with 21-year-old (Alcaraz) that is probably the best player in the world right now winning Roland Garros and Wimbledon back-to-back and playing incredible tennis, just when I take everything in consideration, this probably is the biggest sporting success I’ve ever had in my career.”

After losing 1000 ranking points in Cincinnati, Novak Djokovic is slated to play at the US Open next where he will kick off his run for a record 25th Grand Slam title.

  • “If Novak Djokovic smashed a racket like that, he’d be crucified” – Fans slam ‘leniency’ for Carlos Alcaraz’s display of anger in Cincinnati Open loss

“If Novak Djokovic smashed a racket like that, he’d be crucified” – Fans slam ‘leniency’ for Carlos Alcaraz’s display of anger in Cincinnati Open loss

Carlos Alcaraz smashed his racket to pieces in a rare show of frustration during his second-round clash against Gael Monfils at the 2024 Cincinnati Open, drawing strong reactions from tennis fans. The Spaniard, who narrowly lost to Novak Djokovic in a thrilling final last year, failed to advance past his opening match at the ATP Masters 1000 event on his return.

Competing in his only warm-up tournament before the US Open, Alcaraz was aiming for a deep run in Cincinnati to gain momentum on hardcourts after his recent silver medal win on clay at the Paris Olympics. Following a first-round bye, the Spaniard squared off against Gael Monfils in his tournament opener.

After clinching the opening set 6-4, the 21-year-old locked in a tense second-set tiebreak with Monfils when rain played spoilsport and postponed the remainder of the encounter to the next day. The Frenchman took control of the match after the resumption of play, clinching the second set and eventually securing a 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-4 victory in two hours and 30 minutes.

Carlos Alcaraz, meanwhile, was left frustrated over his struggle to challenge the 37-year-old in the contest. Failing to break Monfils’ serve while trailing 1-2 in the deciding set, the Spaniard vented his anger by repeatedly smashing his racket into the ground until it was destroyed.

A few fans empathized with Alcaraz, showing grace to the four-time Grand Slam champion for his uncharacteristic outburst.

“It’s a part of life. You win some, you lose some. And sometimes we let anger get the best of us. No need for everyone to freak out,” one fan commented.

However, the majority of fans condemned the perceived “leniency” shown towards the 21-year-old, arguing that Novak Djokovic had been labeled unsportsmanlike for similar displays of anger.

“Had Novak smashed the racket I’m sure the tweet wouldn’t be this lenient,” one fan posted.

“If Djokovic smashed a racket like that, he’d be publicly crucified,” a fan argued.

“When Alcaraz does, “he desperately wants to win the match” when Novak does, “he doesn’t have sportsmanship” 😭😭👍🏻,” another fan wrote.

“When Alcaraz smashes a racket: “he wants to win so badly!” When Djokovic smashes a racket: “disgusting violent thug, unsportsmanlike behaviour, ban him from the tour,”” said another.

Fans continued to discredit Carlos Alcaraz’s gracious and classy on-court perception, contending that the likes of Serena Williams and Djokovic were met with much harsher judgment.

“But, but, but the haters assured me that only Djokovic breaks racquets? That Alcaraz is always smiling? I’m soooo confused,” one fan sarcastically remarked.

“I was always told that Alcaraz is very gracious and classy on court? This must be a mistake cause this surely can’t be him? Not a good look in that case on top of excessive grunting, constant fist pumping, vamosing, coach-convos, and now racquet smashing,” another fan chimed in.

“Lol I don’t want to be that person but when a guy does it “he wants to win”. When Serena did it “she needs to control herself,”” said yet another.

Carlos Alcaraz and defending champion Novak Djokovic will both be back in action at the 2024 US Open, with the main draw matches scheduled to commence on August 26.

Having played just one match during the North American hardcourt swing before the New York Major, the Spaniard might find himself underprepared for the tournament. Djokovic will be similarly short on match practice at the final Grand Slam of the season, having chosen to skip all warm-up tournaments after his gold medal win at the Paris Olympics.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion triumphed at the US Open last year, claiming a dominant win over Daniil Medvedev in the final. Carlos Alcaraz, meanwhile, is defending a run to the semifinals, having fallen short against Medvedev while attempting to defend his 2022 triumph in New York.

“When I do it I’ve got mental issue,” Corentin Moutet takes a cheeky dig at Carlos Alcaraz’s aggressive racket abuse at the Cincinnati Open

Both Corentin Moutet and Carlos Alcaraz couldn’t win a match in the main draw of the Cincinnati Open this year.

“When I do it I’ve got mental issue,” Corentin Moutet takes a cheeky dig at Carlos Alcaraz’s aggressive racket abuse at the Cincinnati Open

Eleventh seed Corentin Moutet took a hilarious dig at Carlos Alcaraz for his racket smash in Cincinnati on Friday (August 16). It is worth noting that both players are now out of the Masters 1000 event.

Moutet lost to unseeded Fabian Marozsan 6-4, 7-5 in the Round of 64 on Wednesday. Two days later, Alcaraz lost a rain-delayed encounter with Gael Monfils in the Round of 32.

    Corentin Moutet tweeted on X

Both Alcaraz and Moutet competed at the Paris Olympics earlier this month. The Frenchman lost in the third round to Tommy Paul, while Alcaraz lost the gold medal match to Novak Djokovic. However, both players now head to the US Open with shaky form. This was Alcaraz’s first match on hard courts since the Miami Masters in late March.

How will Carlos Alcaraz fare at the US Open?

Until the Olympic gold medal match this year, Carlos Alcaraz was considered the best player on the planet. The Spaniard had captured his first Roland Garros title and successfully defended his Wimbledon title.

Carlos AlcarazCarlos Alcaraz (Image vis US Open)
However, things have taken a dip since then. He lost the Olympic gold medal match to Novak Djokovic and was defeated by Gael Monfils in his opening round at the Cincinnati Open. While much can be said about Alcaraz’s extended summer schedule and the rain delay in Cincinnati, the Spaniard did not look sharp at all. Things came to a head when he smashed his racket earlier in the third set.

Alcaraz remains one of the favorites to win the US Open, but Djokovic could be considered the man to beat in New York despite not playing since winning the gold medal. The Serbian is the defending champion at this year’s US Open.

Emma Raducanu will feature in the Hong Kong Open, a WTA 250 event scheduled to start in October this year. The Hong Kong Open confirmed the same. It will be one of the tournaments she will play before the start of the 2025 Australian Open.

Raducanu recently skipped the 2024 Paris Olympics to play at the Citi Open instead. However, she was eliminated in the quarterfinals by eventual winner Paula Badosa, who defeated the Brit in three sets.
As she was not given the wild card to feature in the Canadian Open and the Cincinnati Open, she decided to skip the tournaments, as advancing to the main draw would require her to play the Qualifiers.

Before the Citi Open, Raducanu played three grass-court events, including the Wimbledon Championships, and made it to the fourth round, where New Zealand’s Lulu Sun stopped her from advancing to her first-ever quarterfinals at the SW19.

The World No. 71 has not yet won a title this season and is searching for her second title since winning the 2021 US Open. Raducanu also has an 18/11 win-loss record this year.

When Emma Raducanu was not handed the wild card for the French Open, she decided to skip the major event. Though her decision proved helpful later on, for she played decently on the grass-court season, her skipping the qualifying rounds of the two hard-court events in Montreal and Cincinnati was questioned by Monica Puig, a former WTA player.

The former player from Puerto Rico, who won the gold medal in singles at the 2016 Rio Olympics, urged the 2021 US Open champion to not miss the tournaments before the US Open. Puig believes playing at the Qualifiers will help the 21-year-old get the momentum she needs before the event in New York.

Because let’s call it like it is, practice is practice, but playing in a match situation is something that can’t be replicated in practice and can only be done while competing. Not really sure what the play was here but hopefully she can find her form heading into the US Open.

    Monica Puig told Tennis Channel

The main draw of the US Open starts on 26th August and Raducanu will be bidding to win her second title there. In the 2021 US Open, the Brit defeated Leylah Fernandez to become the first qualifier to win a Grand Slam title.

Olympic gold medalist Qinwen Zheng claims her father almost sold their house to realize her tennis dream

Chinese tennis star Qinwen Zheng brought glory to her nation by beating Donna Vekic in the gold medal match at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She became the first-ever Asian athlete to do it. Earlier, she beat World No. 1 Iga Swiatek in straight sets in the semifinals.

This Olympic medal win came before any major title for the Chinese ace. Zheng was doing great in the last few months, making it to the Australian Open final, followed by quarterfinal qualification in Dubai and Rome.

She won the title in Palermo right before she came to Paris to take part in the Summer Games. Although Zheng was playing incredibly well, she was not among the favorites to win the gold medal. With her getting pitted to face four-time French Open champion Swiatek in the semis, it seemed even more difficult.
However, against all the odds, the 21-year-old won the gold medal at the Summer Games, the first for China since tennis returned to the Olympics in 1988. This win was hard-earned for Zheng, whose family made sacrifices to support her career. For instance, Zheng’s father almost sold their house to support her in realizing her dreams.

After her Olympic gold medal win, Qinwen Zheng revealed that her father almost sold their house when she was 15 to support her in her quest to become a world-class tennis player.

    (B) Ray J claims Kris Jenner wanted three s3x tapes from him and Kim

Ray J is threatening to sue Kris Jenner in connection with her daughter Kim Kardashian’s 2002 s.e.x tape and is making fresh claims about the momager’s involvement.

The Celebrity Big Brother star, 41, uploaded several Instagram posts on Saturday, in which he threatened to take both women to court for defamation. He told the mother and daughter in no uncertain terms: “You have f***ed with the wrong person.”

It comes after Kris took a lie detector test on The Late Late Show With James Cordon on Thursday, and responded “No” to the question, “Did you help Kim release her s.e.x .tape?” Ultimately, the polygrapher confirmed she was telling the truth.

In one of Ray’s posts, which was 44 minutes long, he claims there were three different tapes as opposed to just one. He goes on to claim that 66-year-old Kris handpicked the one in which her daughter Kim looked best.

“[Kim’s] momma made me go and shoot [the other two videos] for safety,” he said. “She watched it motherf***er and said ‘We’re gonna go with the first one cause it’s better, it gives my daughter a better look than the second one I made y’all go and do.’”

In the lengthy video, the actor and producer proceeds to show the contract with Vivid Entertainment, the company that released the x-rated tape. Three tapes are listed in the contract and Kim apparently filled out the section describing said tapes. Ray claims the SKIMS founder wrote the section by hand in order to speed up the process.

He claims both he and Kim, whom he dated between 2002 and 2006, reached a deal with Vivid for $400,000 each and 12.5% of the profits for each of the tapes. He also slammed John Grogan – who carried out the lie detector test on show – for being a “fraud”.

Ray, who was born William Ray Norwood Jr, also shared messages he sent Kim in April after an episode of The Kardashians aired, centering around the s..e.x. tape. At the time, Kim denied that a second s.e.x tape existed.

Ray wrote: “You know what we did! Your mom controlled this whole s.e.x. tape deal with Joe Francis and [Vivid CEO] Steve Hirsch – it was her idea to put out the tape with Vivid. All I did was agree.

“Now you want to make it seem like I’m doing it again without your control. All those fake tears. Your fans trusting you to be honest and sincere but it’s all fake for the cameras. I was playing my part until you started doing all of this!

“What are you trying to ruin me when you know I was just a player in this! You have to stop believing you own lies! I have to let the world know the real [because] you’ve taken it too far now. Somebody needs to explain the play you are doing to me ASAP or I will have no choice but to protect my brand and family and expose real.”

One message by Kim, featured in the video, read: “It was upsetting to have to deal with and I am sure can understand how that feels. My ‘burn them to the ground’ comment was a generalization to anyone threatening to hold this over my head 20 years later.

“We are both parents now with young kids and careers and I’m sure you want to move on from this just like I do. But your manager is the person who brought this all up out of nowhere and I have a right to share how it affected me.”

She continued: “Next week’s episode airs where Kanye brings me the computer and he says he got back from you, which shows you in a positive light for giving that to him. Thank you for doing that.

“Just spoke with my team. We will get something out tomorrow morning to clarify that this was a joke and that you would never gave done something like this. Hope this helps and I’m sorry [too].”

Ray then doubled down on his claim that he did not leak the infamous tape.

He wrote: “Why are you such a liar? I would think you would slow it down after you lied your way to fame. I’m watching you cry about something you put out – and it’s not even real tears.

“How can you cry about something you put out? Joe Francis and [your] mo are the real players in this! You’ve defamed my name and tried to kill my career but God didn’t allow you to. Now you trying to do it again. I’m ashamed of myself for letting you do this to me for so long. You can never deny what you did.”

Taylor Swift had Kanye West ‘kicked out of the Super Bowl’, according to ex-NFL star

In a sensational turn of events at the Super Bowl, former NFL star Brandon Marshall has claimed that Taylor Swift allegedly orchestrated Kanye West’s removal from the prestigious event after a heated incident between the two stars.

According to Marshall, Swift, 34, purportedly made a call to have West, 46, removed from the stadium after he strategically positioned himself in seats that were in front of hers, possibly to photobomb her during the game’s broadcast.

The former wide receiver suggested that West’s actions were an attempt to leverage Swift’s celebrity, which reportedly angered the ‘Anti-Hero’ singer.

“[Kanye] was trying to leverage her celebrity,” Marshall claimed on the I AM ATHLETE podcast. “So Taylor Swift gets p****d off. She boom boom makes a call or two. Everybody’s involved. He gets kicked out the stadium.”

While Marshall’s allegations have stirred controversy, there is no concrete evidence to support his claims.

Despite the lack of confirmation on Marshall’s claims, the Super Bowl drama, if true, marks a significant victory for Swift in her ongoing conflict with the controversial rapper.

In addition to the stadium commotion, West’s presence at the Super Bowl alongside his wife, Bianca Censori, raised eyebrows. The rapper was spotted donning a distinctive full-face covering with a white crucifix, while Censori sported an uncharacteristically covered-up ensemble.

The pair’s attendance at the event comes during a turbulent period in West’s public life, including his highly publicized divorce from ex-wife Kim Kardashian.

The ensuing fallout, coupled with the public release of a partial recording of a phone call between Swift and West, intensified the feud, leading to Swift’s withdrawal from the public eye and a period of personal turmoil.

Despite the ongoing drama, Swift had much to celebrate at the Super Bowl, where she joined her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, in commemorating the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory.

The couple, surrounded by friends and family, enjoyed a celebratory night out, with Swift even taking the stage to sing along to her own hits as the Chiefs paid tribute to her.

As the spectacle unfolded, Swift and Kelce’s romantic connection was on full display, culminating in a heartwarming moment captured on video where the couple shared a kiss during the festivities.

Swift’s presence at the Super Bowl not only highlighted her support for Kelce but also showcased her resilience amid ongoing controversies and personal challenges.

Rihanna has hit back after a fan criticized her choice of words when describing her son after revealing his face in a Vogue photoshoot.

The singer, 34, is currently pregnant with her second child, having revealed the happy news during her Super Bowl Halftime Show performance.

The ‘Diamonds’ star performed with a troupe of dancers in white puffer jackets while she wore red and caressed her growing bump.

Following the performance, her representative confirmed fans’ speculation that she was indeed pregnant with her second child with A$AP Rocky.

While fans are still being left waiting for new music, Rih did drop another little surprise for them by revealing the first photos of her nine-month-old son in a photoshoot with British Vogue.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky posed with their son – whose name is yet to be revealed – in a series of stunning snaps, including a cover shot of the singer confidently striding down a beach while her boyfriend plants a sweet kiss on their son’s head.

One commented: “riri ik u did not just say “fine” ..”, to which the singer doubled down and confirmed: “af”.

    You tell ’em, Rih!

Rihanna and A$AP welcomed their son in May 2022, and the Fenty founder revealed that the pregnancy came as a surprise.

She told Vogue in April 2022: “I wouldn’t say [we were] planning [to start a family], but certainly not planning against it. I don’t know when I ovulate or any of that type of s**t. We just had fun. And then it was just there on the test.”

The couple confirmed their relationship in 2021 when the rapper described Rihanna as the “love of [his] life” in an interview, but are believed to have been dating for a long time beforehand.

A source told UsWeekly at the time: “They’re not necessarily hiding the fact that they’re dating — they more so just don’t want people in their business. They’re two chill people that don’t want that kind of attention, so they show up randomly to a spot and nobody really knows until afterward.”
