World No.1 Jannik Sinner has avoided a doping ban after the ITIA accepted that he was exposed to a banned anabolic steroid during a massage.

“I will now put this challenging and deeply unfortunate period behind me,” said Sinner. “I will continue to do everything I can to ensure I continue to comply with the ITIA’s anti-doping programme and I have a team around me that are meticulous in their own compliance.”

In some instances, unintentional anti-doping violations can lead to a ban of up to two years. Although Sinner has been stripped of the 400 ranking points and £250,000 prize money he earned for reaching the semifinals at Indian Wells, he is allowed to resume playing immediately, starting with the U.S. Open next week.

Despite the loss of ranking points, Sinner’s position at the top of the men’s world rankings remains unaffected, where he maintains a significant lead over his closest competitor, Novak Djokovic. Sinner’s attorney Jamie Singer, weighed in on the ITIA’s decision stating: “Anti-doping rules have to be very strict to be effective. Sadly the unfortunate consequence is that, occasionally, entirely innocent athletes get caught up in them.

“There is no question that Jannik is innocent in this case. The ITIA did not challenge that key principle. However, under strict liability rules Jannik is responsible for whatever is in his system, even when entirely unaware of it, as in this exceptional case.”

After clinching a victory at the Cincinnati Masters, an elated Sinner is gearing up for the year’s final Grand Slam at Flushing Meadows with newfound confidence. Despite dealing with a hip injury, the Italian powerhouse ousted Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev, then triumphed over Frances Tiafoe in straight sets to win the final.

“Now, for sure, it’s important to recover, to be ready for New York,” Sinner said. “This is our main goal here for this U.S. swing.”

Boston sports fan and Ringer CEO Bill Simmons speculated on his podcast that the Celtics could be worth an astronomical $6 billion evaluation, with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos potentially interested in acquiring the reigning NBA champions.

Wyc Grousbeck and Steve Pagliuca own the Celtics through their investment group, Boston Basketball Partners LLC, and have experienced success since their purchase in 2002, including NBA titles in 2008 and last season. While Pagliuca is expected to remain part of the new ownership structure after the sale, he will be joined by unfamiliar new investors.

Simmons hinted at having insider knowledge about the impending sale, implying that the Boston owners plan to open up bidding to the public. The Ringer owner also revealed that the NBA is looking to establish a higher-than-normal valuation for the reigning champions, partially to set the bar for future expansion teams as Seattle, Las Vegas, and Mexico City remain rumored to get a team.

“I happen to have a bunch of information on this as this is [a] huge, huge topic right now in the circles of people that would want to buy a team. There’s a bunch of stuff going on. The league wants $6 billion for that team,” Simmons said on his podcast.

“$6 billion and they don’t own the arena. It’s a crazy price, but they’re probably going to get it. They’re doing that because they want expansion teams in Seattle, Vegas, and Mexico City is looming – but they want $6 billion each for the two teams for expansion, which would mean a check for $400 million to every NBA owner.”

Simmons further speculated about Bezos’ potential interest in the Celtics, stating: “In the last few days there’s been legitimate buzz about Jeff Bezos buying the Celtics, and I think it’s real; he’s going to be one of the suitors.”

Bezos is estimated to be worth over $195 billion, allowing no issues with maintaining a title-contending roster, the purchase price, or luxury tax costs. The Celtics owners had bittersweet timing to announce their plans to sell on the same day that franchise cornerstone Jayson Tatum signed a supermax contract extension worth approximately $318 million. Key player Derrick White committed to Boston for the next four seasons with a $125.9 million extension on the same day.

The sale process is anticipated to be split into two parts, with 51 percent of the team being sold “soon” and the remaining 49 percent in 2028. Grousbeck has indicated that he will stay with the organization throughout the transition period, ensuring continuity during the sale process.

Any potential sale of an NBA franchise would require approval from the NBA Board of Governors, including representatives from each league’s teams. The last NBA team sale occurred in 2023 when Michael Jordan sold his majority stake, and the Charlotte Hornets were sold for $3 billion.

The NBA Board of Governors approved that sale, with New York Knicks owner James Dolan being outed as the only owner to cast the only contrary vote. NBA fans online joked about Dolan’s history of being a contrarian, playfully labeling him as the NBA’s biggest hater.

While an official reason wasn’t warranted, speculation indicated that Dolan had concerns about how the Hornets’ sale price could set a new bar for team sales. NBA fans laughed online that Dolan didn’t want Jordan to leave because he would then be viewed as the league’s worst owner.

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy continued his online campaign against Steve Kerr after the Golden State Warriors coach was announced as a speaker on Monday at the Democratic National Convention.

Portnoy is a vocal Boston sports fan and has repeatedly criticized Kerr, who coached the Team USA men’s basketball squad at the Summer Olympics, for offering limited playing time to Celtics star and defending NBA champion Jayson Tatum.

“[He] finds time to do this but can’t find minutes for Tatum?” Portnoy wrote on X about Kerr’s appearance at the DNC. “Nice priorities loser.” The convention is held over four days at Chicago’s United Center, where Kerr won four NBA Championships during a lengthy playing career.

Kerr has an extensive history with the American international setup, winning the FIBA World Championship in 1986 and also securing the gold medal in Tokyo three years ago as an assistant coach.

The Warriors boss led the Americans into the 2023 FIBA World Cup but finished fourth with a roster that included Tyrese Haliburton, Anthony Edwards and Brandon Ingram, among other NBA stars.

Team USA attracted one of the most talented Olympic rosters of all time this summer in Paris, headlined by LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, with Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and former President Barack Obama visiting the team during training camp. Harris was born and raised in the Bay Area, naturally becoming a devoted Warriors fan, and Kerr reciprocated the support of the sitting vice president.

“[It’s] a very interesting time for our country for sure and the fact that President Biden gave that endorsement and Vice President Harris is trying to bring her energy to this campaign,” Kerr said in July.

“And hopefully, if she’s on the ticket, winning the election. It’s a big deal to say the least. She represents the Bay Area. She’s been a big supporter of us and so I want to give that energy right back to her.” Kerr added that Harris “is a great candidate and I will support her.”

“It feels surreal,” Caitlin Clark expressed when her partnership with Amer’s got her a signature ball collection. And now, when Clark has come so far in the WNBA, breaking rookie assists record, she has been gifted with another collaboration with a $8.1 billion company that might just give us hints about the NBA legend Michael Jordan‘s successor.

Though not many details of it are out, Clark hooting on seeing her exquisite line of products has left the fans curious.

Amer’s child company, Wilson, dropped a new hype-up showing Clark on her way to inaugurate another Wilson product on Monday. Clark, in the video, dropped by Wilson on their social media networking site Instagram’s official channel, can be seen wearing a white top with black pants and going to a stage to get a glimpse of what could potentially be her latest ball.

A lot of fans feel that this might be the end of the Jordan-Wilson era since Clark is the only balling athlete apart from the 61-year-old to have her line of products with Wilson. Even when signing the multi-year deal with Wilson in May, Clark had expressed her happiness since it was a full circle moment for her. During her childhood, Clark used to play with Wilson basketball in her driveway, trying to develop her threes which later on went on to become her signature shot.

After inking the agreement, Clark recollected how she would fight with her brothers to get a hold of the Wilson ball. She revealed that the designs were so “cool” that budding athletes who will have their hands on the ball will love to take it with them to practices or play in their driveway as Clark used to. And with her latest move, it looks like Jordan’s deal with Wilson was a thing of the past when it was decades ago in 1984 shortly after he emerged into the league. The former NCAA Queen had also released her basketball collection in July.

There is a special note on Wilson’s logo that Clark wrote as a child- “Get a basketball scholarship. Play in the WNBA.” This subtly gives away a hint to the young generation of hoopers to fulfill their dream much like how Clark has done.

Clark who closely followed up with the design process was extremely happy seeing the product in different designs and colors. Apart from stating that the moment was surreal and probably pinching her into reality, Clark also enunciated that she “hope(s) it inspires the next generation of boys and girls to pick up a ball and play.”

Steve Kerr was sure to bring out ‘the Steph Curry reference’ at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, which began on Monday. As the country gears up for the Presidential race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, the bigwigs of the Democratic Party are expected to speak on the opening night of the DNC. But before that, we have the Warriors‘ mastermind with an important public message to America.

Speaking at the convention, the 9x NBA Champion had a rousing oration addressing the Democrats. Before ending his speech, Steve Kerr channelized his inner Steph Curry and brought out the ‘Night Night’ celebration on the stage, after saying, “After the results are tallied that night, we can, in the words of the great Steph Curry, we can tell Donald Trump “Night, Night.”  

This isn’t the first time Steve Kerr joined hands with Kamala Harris. A few months ago, the Warrior got on a call with students alongside the Democrats’ Presidential candidate and spoke about gun violence and also warned them about the possible dangers of re-electing Donald Trump, on his second term, as per The Hill. 

Moreover, it’s not just Steve Kerr’s individual support to Kamala Harris, but a collective cheer from the Warriors family. Notably, ahead of the Paris Olympics, Stephen Curry addressed the press and declared the Dubs’ unwavering support to Harris.

The Baby-faced Assassin said, “Very interesting time for our country, for sure. The fact that President Biden gave that endorsement, Vice President Harris, is trying to bring her energy to this campaign. And hopefully, if she’s on the ticket winning the election, it’s a big deal, to say the least.”

What’s Steph Curry and the Warriors’ stand on Donald Trump?

Golden State Warriors have made it clear for a long time. If not for the entire team, Steph Curry, individually has clarified it to the world. Moreover, he was the important factor behind the Dubs’ refusal to meet the then-president after winning the NBA championship in 2017 and 2018. After the 2017 Finals, LeBron James took to his X handle and dropped a post, sharing Curry’s stance on visiting the White House after winning the Championship. Bron wrote, “U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain’t going! So therefore ain’t no invite. Going to the White House was a great honor until you showed up!”

In the following year, Steph Curry picked up the mic again ahead of the 2018 Finals, reiterated his stance, and decided not to visit the White House again until Donald Trump left the office. “I would like to have my own group.” It has been a long-time desire of the Hall-of-Famer to own an NBA team. Although Shaquille O’Neal has got few stakes in the Sacramento Kings, he wants to step up as the primary owner of an NBA team. Well, the legend’s dream could take flight as there have been talks about NBA expansion and Shaq is on his toes.

“I know Vegas hasn’t been awarded an NBA team yet, but if they ever get to a point where they are awarded a team, I would like to be a part of that,” said O’Neal earlier in an interview. However, he hasn’t been the only one in this ownership race; enter LeBron James and Jeff Bezos.

According to a discussion in The Bill Simmons Podcast, the buzz about Jeff Bezos making an investment in the NBA is real. “And in the last few days, there’s been some, I think, legitimate buzz about Jeff Bezos buying the Celtics. And I think it’s real. I think he’s going to be one of the suitors,” said Bill Simmons on his podcast. The NBA franchise that clinched the championship last season is estimated to be worth around $6 billion. With his substantial resources, Jeff Bezos would easily have the capital needed to make such a purchase.

Talking about the reason behind potential investment from Bezos, Simmons said, “…Jeff Bezos, when he’s looking at the Celtics, what is he seeing? What does he want? I think the only way it makes sense, I mean, granted, he has a gazillion dollars – but it’s one of the crown-jewel franchises, right?” 

Simmons opines that the league would be eager for Celtic’s sale as it will facilitate them in their mission of expanding the league with new teams. With the Amazon founder’s over $200 billion net worth and a reportedly failed attempt at securing the NFL team, Washington Commanders, it is likely for Bezos to enter the race here and for the owners to not turn him down.

The defending NBA champions are currently owned by the Grousbeck family, but the owners recently announced their intention to sell the team. “The expectation is to sell the time in two parts with 51 percent going fairly soon, 49 percent then closing in second closing. That’s the expectation in 2028,” Grousbeck told CNBC last month.

Earlier there was another group that also considered making a bid for the Boston Celtics, but after Bezos’ entering the scene, they might shift their focus; a possible hindrance in Shaq’s owner ship deal.

When the Grousbeck announced about Celtic’s sale, it was reported that Fenway Sports Group was also interested in bidding for the Boston Celtics. If they had gone through with the purchase, LeBron James would have ended up as a part-owner of the Celtics, thanks to his ownership stakes in Fenway Sports Group. Well, now there is a very little possibility of that because there is already someone in the race who can pay a big amount to Celtic owners.

This might turn LeBron James’ head to his earlier target. “It’s wonderful. It’s the best fanbase in the world and I would love to bring a team here (Las Vegas) at some point. That’ll be amazing,” said the Los Angeles Lakers star back in 2022. After withdrawing from Celtic’s race, James might once again prefer going for the Aces, a target which is also chased by the Hall-of-Famer.

While Las Vegas has long been seen as the top contender for landing an NBA franchise, securing a team in Vegas isn’t going to be easy as there were reports indicating that the sale could turn out to be the most expensive and fiercely contested sports acquisition in U.S. history. Nevertheless, James and O’Neal both have been active business investors. And it would be interesting to see which way the Aces ownership will fall.

Now the 18-time champions’ magnetism has attracted one of the biggest fishes – Jeff Bezos.

According to Bill Simmons, Bezos’ name has reverberated along the NBA walls when mentioning the Celtics’ ownership. There is a belief he is truly interested in acquiring the reigning champions. With Amazon having a new media rights deal with the NBA, Bezos owning the Celtics would multiply his already heavy league portfolio.

Many believed it was an early sign of his interest in owning the Celtics, valued at close to $6 billion. Viewing them as “one of the crown jewel franchises,” Bezos plans to not only build a new stadium for the franchise but also clean his image using the ownership status. Additionally, with the help of his net worth (surplus of $200 billion), the Celtics can manage to retain their championship core for years to come.

It included trusting in both Joe Mazzulla and Brad Stevens’ methods and paying the exorbitant luxury tax required to keep the roster intact. Lastly, and some good news for Bezos, is he didn’t want FSG to take ownership.

Apart from his plea, other Celtics fans were busy celebrating the arrival of Bezos. The Amazon CEO’s deep pockets ensure the Boston Celtics can accommodate lucrative contracts like those of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. In that reference, one fan wrote, “We signing everyone to a max deal now”

Among the wildest of suggestions is the fact that Jeff Bezos might be looking to relocate the Celtics to Seattle. According to one fan, “Seattle Sonics are coming back one way or another!“.

While it’s unlikely for a prestigious organization like the Celtics to ever relocate, some reasons make it seem like a possibility. Firstly, Amazon’s headquarters reside in Seattle. Furthermore, Bezos is also looking into buying the Seattle Seahawks after the death of the franchise’s previous owner, Paul Allen.

There was also some opposition regarding Bezos’ potential takeover of the Shamrocks. Some NBA fans were evidently upset about the cashflow advantage the franchise would receive. But the more pressing matter was his already locked media rights deal with the NBA. “This should be rejected. Bezos would own a portion of the NBA with Amazon Prime and own a team” a fan wrote.

As part of the new media rights deal, Amazon Prime got the smallest package of NBA games for the coming season. Hence, while not directly attached, Bezos’ position with the league might pose challenges. Time will tell whether Adam Silver sees any issues. The Chiefs tight end is back in Kansas City ahead the return of the new NFL season, which kicks off with the Super Bowl champions against the Baltimore Ravens on September 5.

The 34-year-old has spent much of the past few months, however, following Swift on her Eras Tour. He travelled to cities including London and Dublin to catch her shows.

According to The Athletic, the pop star has returned the favor by occasionally training alongside Kelce as he prepares for his 12th season in the NFL.

But it’s said one of his most enjoyable moments of the offseason came in Amsterdam back in July, shortly before he returned to training camp.

Kelce and Swift went out for a date with Mahomes and his wife Brittany. The Mahomes had joined Kelce in a private suite for Swift’s show in the Netherlands on July 6.

‘We were just having fun and enjoying a dinner just like anyone else would. That’s what makes it so great,’ Mahomes said recently.

‘We don’t make it more than what it is; it’s just friendship, fellowship and enjoying everyone’s success.’

On his teammate, the quarterback added: ‘Honestly, to me, he’s the same guy.

‘It’s a huge platform and everyone in the world can see it, deservedly so because of how great Taylor is, but it’s still Travis. I think that’s what makes it so cool, even though it’s such a big thing for the world.’
