JBJ caught up with Pollstar ahead of the coпfereпce to discuss philaпthropy, Boп Jovi’s big aппiversary aпd his keyпote Q&A.
Pollstar: Coпgrats oп beiпg пamed the MusiCares Persoп of the Year. What do you attribute to your heart for giviпg back? Is it religioп or your family’s values?
Joп Boп Jovi: I thiпk that some of it is iпstilled by your pareпts aпd your upbriпgiпg, but the rest of the jourпey has beeп orgaпic. Wheп I started the [Joп Boп Jovi Soul] Fouпdatioп it wasп’t my first foray iпto philaпthropy, but it was the first time that I had aп eпtity. Aпd пow 20 years later, we’re able to be focused iп our approach to both issues [of huпger aпd homelessпess]. If there were a bumper sticker to explaiп why I chose homelessпess aпd huпger issues my belief is that the bumper sticker would read: “I doп’t пeed a scieпtist to fiпd the Cure. It’s withiп us.”
You kпow, every little bit helps – whether it’s oпe of our four restauraпts or duriпg COVID wheп we both fiпaпced aпd were oпe of the haпdful of employers of the food baпk, which fed seveп paпtries, which theп iп turп fed thousaпds of people oп Loпg Islaпd. We kпew that we could have our owп little kiпd of ripple effect by beiпg iп the treпches aпd doiпg what it is that we do.

I told [Ray Waddell, presideпt of Oak View Group’s Media & Coпfereпces Divisioп] aпd Tim [Leiweke, CEO aпd co-fouпder of Oak View Group, pareпt compaпy to Pollstar] I’m opeп to aпythiпg. There’s пothiпg that’s off [the table] or aпythiпg I have to hide. Aпd we caп talk about everythiпg that’s happeпed. I thiпk it will be great to sit dowп with aп old frieпd who kпows the history of the baпd iп aп opeп coпversatioп with пo limits.
You’re also goiпg to be hoпored with the Milestoпe Award. What are your biggest takeaways after 40 Years of Boп Jovi?
First of all, we’re still happy to be here (laughs), but I thiпk that the biggest takeaway I’m realiziпg пow is that the jourпey is filled with peaks aпd valleys aпd yet, if you stay true to who you are, you have a chaпce to be arouпd for four decades aпd couпtiпg – aпd пot to be oп a пostalgia tour. We’re curreпtly gettiпg ready to release a пew record aпd all kiпds of other thiпgs that are comiпg to celebrate this 40th. … It’s about uпderstaпdiпg that пo career is a straight liпe from A to 40 (laughs) but rather it’s the peaks aпd valleys aпd that’s what makes you stroпger.
Could a tour be iп the works followiпg the album?
There’s пo details but that’s certaiпly the hope. We’re very excited about the пew record. There’s goiпg to be a documeпtary comiпg. There’s a whole lot of thiпgs iп the pipeliпe. I thiпk yesterday was techпically the birthdate of the baпd – the 40th birthdate of the baпd. I oпly kпew that because I saw it oпliпe (laughs).
Aп aппouпcemeпt from your team said that self-reliaпce optimism aпd commuпity are key coпcepts that defiпe Boп Jovi’s music aпd charitable efforts. Do you coпsider yourself aп optimist? Aпd what’s the key to sustaiпiпg that attitude?
I’ve always absolutely beeп a glass-half-full kiпd of a guy. I thiпk it was the blue-collar, middle-class upbriпgiпg, beiпg borп at the time that I was aпd we were as a baпd. That kiпd of optimism was prevaleпt iп America iп 1962 wheп JFK was iп the White House aпd talkiпg about goiпg to the mooп aпd your mom aпd dad sayiпg, “Aпythiпg you waпt to be, you caп be.” There was a seпse of awe about what was to come. Aпd I carried that with me as loпg as I could. These days it gets harder aпd harder but theп you meet some youпg kid who blows you away aпd you thiпk, “Oh, that’s the future.” Or you see some пew iппovatioп that’s there for the good of maпkiпd aпd you say “OK, we caп save ourselves from ourselves at this poiпt.” (laughs). I still remaiп optimistic that it’s пot yet too late to right ourselves.
What advice would you give to someoпe who either waпted to get iпto music or waпted to get iпvolved with giviпg back to others?
I thiпk that’s a really simple questioп. Aпd the hoпest aпswer is to be true to who you are. Aпd iп the music busiпess, it’s by beiпg true to who you are aпd пot jumpiпg oп fads aпd fashioп because you thiпk that’s goiпg to briпg more success.
Aпd with regard to philaпthropy, everybody has the opportuпity to give back iп their owп way. Aпd if you were ever to get iпvolved oп a graпder scale, i.e. a fouпdatioп, just make sure that it’s somethiпg you really kпow about, care about aпd are williпg to roll up your sleeves aпd get your haпds dirty.

Il est un peu moins de 23 heures, et Arnaud, comme sonné après un match de boxe, s’assoit. La musique vient de s’arrêter. Justin Timberlake a disparu de la scène depuis quelques secondes. « Je l’adore, je l’ai déjà vu au Stade de France avec un son de fou au milieu de la fosse, mais jamais je n’aurai pu imaginer voir un show comme ce soir, confie le fan de la star américaine, la trentaine, venu avec deux amis. Je n’avais jamais vu cela de ma vie. Cette scénographie est une immense claque que je viens de me prendre. »

Il est 21 heures pile quand Justin Timberlake fait son entrée sur scène.
Le « petit prince de la pop » est à l’heure et il était particulièrement attendu par ses fans dans le chaudron de la LDLC Arena pleine à craquer.
Les billets se sont arrachés en cinq minutes
Le concert de la salle de Décines-Charpieu, dans la métropole de Lyon, à côté du stade de l’OL affichait complet vendredi 6 septembre 2024, 16 000 spectateurs sont là. Le tourneur Live Nation a même dû rajouter une deuxième date en février dernier devant le succès des ventes. Les billets se sont arrachés… en cinq minutes.
Le chanteur américain de 43 ans aux 54 millions d’albums vendus dans le monde entier passe seulement par Lyon pour les deux dates françaises de sa tournée mondiale « The Forget Tomorrow ». Justin Timberlake ne passera pas par Paris, les salles étant encore occupées par les sites des Jeux Olympiques.
Le chanteur a offert à ses fans deux heures de show parfaitement réalisé avec des enchaînements entre tubes hyperénergiques connus de tous et ambiance plus intime. L’Américain marié avec l’actrice Jessica Biel s’est entouré d’un orchestre live de haute volée, mêlant clavier, bassiste, guitariste et session de cuivre permettant d’ajouter de jolies notes jazzies.
Celui qui s’était effacé de la scène ces dernières années – son dernier album « Everything I Thought It Was » n’a pas fait sensation – n’a rien perdu de sa voix, de sa justesse et monte régulièrement dans les aiguës. Le début du show est toutefois assez poussif et on regarde un peu sa montre. Les chansons sont plus récentes et moins connues comme No Angels (2024), Technicolor (2024) ou encore Infinity Sex (2024).
Une déception cependant : la danse de Justin Timberlake est en service minimum et les danseurs qui l’accompagnant sont transparents.
Ecrans, cube géant… Une scénographie incroyable
Mais ce qui a mis tout le monde d’accord c’est l’époustouflante scénographie avec un écran géant déployé à l’arrière de la scène et un immense cube d’écrans mobile capable de voler au-dessus du public et de se renverser. D
eux moments sont bluffants : quand il chante Cry Me A River, le tube qu’il a écrit en 2022 après sa rupture avec Britney Spears, où les écrans se remplissent d’un effet aquatique et la conclusion du concert.
C’est en effet son titre Mirrors (2003) qui permet à Justin Timberlake de sortir de scène sous un tonnerre d’applaudissements.
Harnaché avec des élastiques et perché au-dessus du cube lumineux, le prince de la pop s’envole au-dessus du public et bascule quasi à la verticale en lévitation au niveau de la fosse. Le résultat est bluffant.
En communion avec son public
Justin Timberlake a en tout cas joué le jeu avec son public. Il a fait une partie de « pierre, feuille, ciseaux » avec des spectatrices, souhaité l’anniversaire d’un certain Christiano dans la fosse et offert un quasi mini-concert sur une scène arrondie en bout de salle où quelques privilégiés ont pu l’approcher.
Vers 22h30, il lance en effet : « C’est ma partie préférée du show car je suis plus près de vous et je peux regarder vos magnifiques visages (…) Je m’y sens chez moi car je peux ressentir tout votre amour. Jouer dans une salle comme ce soir à Lyon, c’est ce que je rêvais quand j’étais gamin. Et vous avez permis à un petit mec du Tennessee de réaliser son rêve », dit-il guitare en bandoulière.
Le chanteur remet ça ce samedi soir devant une salle encore complète avant de reprendre la route de sa tournée avec sa vingtaine de camions. Il s’envolera pour les Etats-Unis, le Canada et l’Amérique du Sud où il doit encore donner une trentaine de dates.

Whoopi Goldberg said on “The View” Thursday that Anna Delvey shouldn’t be allowed on “Dancing With the Stars,” in part because she “stills owes people money.” ABC
Anna Delvey has demanded an apology from ABC’s “The View,” claiming co-host Whoopi Goldberg got a key fact about her case wrong.
On Thursday, the hosts of the long-running talk show laid into Delvey and their own network for casting the convicted con artist — who posed as an heiress to bilk businesses and individuals out of more than $250,000 — on reality contest “Dancing With the Stars.”
Amid the lambasting, Goldberg said, “She still owes people money. I don’t understand why she gets to stay [in the US]!”
Delvey tells Page Six that Goldberg is wrong, and that she paid back what she owes “three plus years ago.” AP
But Delvey addressed the hosts in a statement to Page Six Friday, writing:
“While you are entitled to your own opinions, you should at least get your facts straight. I served my time and paid everyone back in full three-plus years ago. Looking forward to your on-air correction. Stay nasty ladies, but don’t forget to vote Sept. 17!”
(That’s the date when fans can vote for her first performance on the ballroom competition show.)

As Page Six first reported, Delvey — who was released from prison in February 2021 but remains under house arrest at the behest of ICE while she waits to find out if she can stay in the US — has been given special permission by a judge to travel to LA to compete on the show.

Taylor Swift did not sit with Brittany Mahomes as the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens 27-20 in the NFL’s season opener on Thursday night.
It comes after the singer’s legion of fans begged her to snub the wife of star Chiefs quarterback Patrick because she appeared to endorse Donald Trump in the upcoming US election.
As they took their seats on the NFL’s opening night that saw the Chiefs play the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium, both appeared to be in different suites. It is a marked difference from last season when they were inseparable at games.
Swift took her her usual spot in Kelce’s luxury suite alongside the tight end’s family and friends. She was captured sitting next to both of Kelce’s parents – Ed and Donna – in the first half.
Mahomes, meanwhile, was sat with her adorable daughter Sterling Skye in a different suite as she cheered on her husband.

Bothwatched on at Arrowhead Stadium as their lovers got their season off to the perfect start with a victory over their fierce AFC rivals that could have playoff implications already.
The Ravens thought they had tied the game up at 27-27 with zero seconds left on the clock but tight end Isaiah Likely’s toe was deemed to be out of bounds after he caught Lamar Jackson’s pass.
It was also the perfect NFL debut for Chiefs rookie Xavier Worthy, who showed off his blistering speed to score two touchdowns.
While they will both be celebrating a Chiefs victory tonight, Swift and Mahomes’ friendship could be at risk of their opposing political views.
Swift has previously endorsed Trump‘s rivals, while also accusing him of ‘stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism’, ‘feigning moral superiority’ and ‘threatening violence’.
But Brittany appears to be in favor of the Republican candidate with the former President taking to Truth Social to thank the WAG for her support earlier this week.
‘I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country,’ he said.

Taylor however has previously accused Trump of ‘gaslighting the American public,’ and treating the US ‘like an autocracy’.
Endorsing Biden and Harris in 2020, she wrote: ‘The change we need most is to elect a president who recognizes that people of color deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included,’.

The song features lines including: ‘American glory faded before me, now I’m feeling hopeless/ My team is losing, battered and bruising. I see the high fives between the bad guys’.
Later Swift sings: ‘I’m feeling helpless, the damsels are depressed. Boys will be boys then, where are the wise men? Darling, I’m scared,’.
Another song, Only the Young, which also features in the documentary, describes a figure – believed to be Trump – as ‘the big bad man and his big bad clan’.
Despite their apparent political differences, sources recently revealed to DailyMail.com that Taylor and Brittany specifically implemented measures to protect their friendship even as fans predicted a huge fallout after her support of Trump became public.
‘Taylor is not going to be written into this anti-Brittany narrative because they have made a pact to not discuss politics,’ sources said, adding that the pair would ‘respect that they have different views.’
The source claimed ‘Brittany knew better than to discuss politics’ at a recent party Taylor threw for Blake Lively at her Rhode Island mansion as she didn’t want to ‘risk confrontation over opposing views.’
Kelce and Mahomes are friends off the field and hang out with the partners regularly as a four
‘It was an unspoken rule for everyone to avoid politics at Taylor’s home in Rhode Island,’ they said. ‘The topic was off limits.
‘It is not only Taylor who has not spoken out in strong support for either candidate, but Travis as well. They know how much influence they have.’
According to the insider, Taylor’s Eras Tour opened her eyes to the fact that she has millions of fans who don’t all share the same views, and she has learned to respect that.
‘She loves her fans and has sold out stadiums in Republican states as well as Democrat, and has performed in countries where communism is rampant,’ they continued.
‘They are brought together by their love of her music. If, and when, Taylor is ready to endorse a candidate she will. Right now is not the time for her to do so.’
Another source added: ‘Taylor deals with so many people in her career and life that are so different that she leads with love, if you are a good person, most likely you’ll get her respect.
‘Her and Brittany talk about other things and never politics, so Taylor isn’t going to let this be a deal breaker for a friendship.’
The two couples spent time together over the weekend with Swift back in the United States after four months of touring in Europe.

In an interview in 2019 with The Guardian, Swift said she supported Hilary Clinton over Trump in the 2016 election and accused Trump of treating the presidency like ‘an autocracy’.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick has never revealed which party he supports and told TIME magazine he does not plan to get involved in politics.
‘I don’t want to pressure anyone to vote for a certain president,’ he said.
‘I want people to use their voice, whoever they believe in. I want them to do the research.’
The Chiefs have been invited to the White House by President Biden the past two years to commemorate their Super Bowl victories in 2023 and 2024.
Mahomes and his teammates had been invited to the White House by Trump following their Super Bowl LIV but did not attend due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite their political differences, Brittany has well cemented herself into Taylor’s girl gang and has been seen hanging out with Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Sophie Turner and also Hugh Jackman.
A source told TMZ last year that Brittany ‘hit it off’ with the Karma singer during the post-game party after the Chiefs vs. Bears game in Kansas City.
After the Chiefs beat the Bears, Brittany joined team members for a special dinner in celebration.
Last week, Brittany revealed how husband Patrick taught her to ignore social media trolls amid controversy over her public support of Donald Trump.
In an interview on the WHOOP podcast, Brittany has credited Patrick with helping her block out any criticism she receives online amid her growing fame.
‘He is very good at blocking people out so having him beside has helped,’ she said.
‘The main thing he always told me is to stop caring what people think – especially the people that don’t even know you.

Brittany admits that she had to learn this from Patrick, who benefitted from being the son of a professional athlete in retired Minnesota Twins and New York Mets reliever Pat Mahomes Sr.
‘He is a lot better at it than I am, maybe because his dad played professional sports,’ she said. ‘I think he was around it and he understood it a lot more than I did.
‘So having him to help me get through it has helped a lot because he’s very good at managing those things.’
On Wednesday, Brittany liked comments on her latest Instagram post calling for Trump to win the election and supporting her for airing her views publicly.
Earlier this month, Taylor hinted that she will remain silent on subjects she believes might ‘provoke’ after her three shows in Vienna were abruptly cancelled due to a foiled terror attack.
‘Let me be very clear: I am not going to speak about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke those who would want to harm the fans who come to my shows,’ she wrote on Instagram.
‘In cases like this one, ”silence” is actually showing restraint, and waiting to express yourself at a time when it’s right to. My priority was finishing our European tour safely, and it is with great relief that I can say we did that.’

Yet as Patrick eyes an unprecedented three-peat with the Kansas City Chiefs this season, a victory which would thrust him further into the GOAT conversation right alongside Tom Brady, his childhood sweetheart finds herself batting away the critics once again.
Brittany, who married Chiefs icon Patrick two years ago after first meeting in college, sparked political controversy last week when fans spotted she had liked one of Donald Trump‘s posts on Instagram mapping out his various policies.
Ahead of the Presidential election later this year, the like appeared to confirm which way she leans politically, leading to a fierce backlash from liberals and her best friend Taylor Swift‘s die-hard followers.

The first came when she was accused of rudeness prior to the Chiefs’ AFC Championship win over the Baltimore Ravens in January, after a video surfaced online of her interaction with a member of staff at M&T Bank Stadium.
Brittany could be seen on camera asking the employee ‘where do we go from here?’ before spinning her finger in a circular motion.
Although there was no clear indication that she offended the Ravens staffer, the clip did not go down well with some viewers on TikTok.
‘Mahomes wife needs to get up off her high horse,’ wrote one user.
Another posted: ‘It’s the where do we go from here with the finger twirl for me.’
While one commented: ‘She is too much.. So extra’.
And to paint her friendship with Swift in a completely different light, DailyMail.com revealed in April that some insiders are questioning how genuine it is.
A source said that Brittany is only ‘acting like Taylor’s BFF’ because she ‘is desperate to be known’ and wants to be seen as more than ‘a trophy wife to an NFL star.’

As the new NFL season approaches, Mahomes now finds herself wrapped up in controversy and battling the naysayers once more after her like on Trump’s post was unearthed.
Some predicted her right-wing stance would bring her friendship with Swift – whether it is authentic or just for show – crashing down given the singer is a renowned liberal who has expressed her disdain for Trump in the past.
But just over a week out from Kansas City’s opener against Baltimore, Brittany and Taylor were spotted on vacation in Rhode Island together to quell fears of any potential rift between them.
It remains to be seen how their relationship stands up to the election in November, however, as Trump’s battle with Kamala Harris for the White House intensifies.

Swift strolled into Arrowhead Stadium around 40 minutes after Kelce and wore a Versace denim co-ord and thigh-high red Giuseppe Zanotti boots while clutching a Louis Vuitton bag.
Once she had made her way inside, Swift took her usual seat in Kelce’s luxury suite alongside his father Ed and mother Donna for a gripping NFL game.
The Chiefs eventually won 27-20 but the Ravens thought they’d tied the game in the last second, only for replays to show Isaiah Likely’s toe had gone out of bounds before taking a catch for a touchdown.
Her appearance at the highly-anticipated season opener comes after Kelce’s representatives were forced to deny that the A-list couple have plans to split later this month.

Rumors of a shock separation came to light earlier this week when a document written on the headed paper of Kelce’s American PR company was spread online.
The paperwork, which appeared to have been created by Los Angeles-based firm Full Scope, revealed a pre-planned strategy to announce an amicable split on September 28.
She also did not sit with Brittany Mahomes, despite the two watching numerous games together last season. It comes after the wife of the Chiefs’ star quarterback Patrick appeared to support Donald Trump in the upcoming election.
Swift has previously endorsed Trump‘s rivals, while also accusing him of ‘stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism’, ‘feigning moral superiority’ and ‘threatening violence’.
But Brittany appears to be in favor of the Republican candidate with the former President taking to Truth Social to thank the WAG for her support earlier this week.
‘I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country,’ he said.
Earlier this week, Kelce’s team called in lawyers after the fake contract stating that his and Swift’s romance is a sham began circulating online.
It outlined a supposed plan to release an official statement at the end of this month – three days ‘post-break up’ to ‘allow the initial media frenzy to settle and ensure clarity’.

‘They are both committed to their careers and personal growth. They remain friends and wish each other the best.’
The paperwork also stated that the announcement would focus on Mr Kelce’s ‘personal growth’ by framing the breakup as a ‘natural part of life.’ It also will highlight his commitment to his career and his ongoing achievements in the sports industry.’
However, on Wednesday night a spokesman for Full Scope insisted the supposed contract is ‘entirely false and fabricated and were not created, issued or authorized by this agency’.

The representative also said they have called in lawyers – though they are not expected to find the culprit.
‘We have engaged our legal team to initiate proceedings against the individuals or entities responsible for the unlawful and injurious forgery of documents,’ they said.
Swift has become a regular presence at Kelce’s NFL games ever since she watched her first in September 2023. She has regularly watched alongside Kelce’s parents – Ed and Donna – as well as his brother Jason and his wife Kylie.
Swift was on the field when the Chiefs beat the Ravens in last season’s AFC Championship game before she was front and center again when Kelce and his teammates won the Super Bowl in Las Vegas in February.
The 14-time Grammy Award winner attended 13 Chiefs games last season, with the team holding a 10-3 record in those contests.
Swift attended all four Chiefs playoff victories last season in different cities. She sported a No. 87 bomber jacket designed by fellow NFL WAG Kristin Juszczyk during the Wild Card game against Miami.

The three-time Super Bowl champion and co-host of the ‘New Heights’ podcast also appeared as a backup dancer during one of Swift’s shows at Wembley Stadium in London.
Plenty of pressure is on Kelce and the Chiefs, who are looking to become the NFL’s first team to win three straight league championships in the Super Bowl era.
