Clark knocked to floor in third quarter on Friday, lay there for several moments

Caitlin Clark didn’t get the foul calls she was looking for during the Indiana Fevers’ 99-88 loss to the Minnesota Linx on Friday.

After the game, Clark referred to instances in which she was hit by opposing players but refs didn’t blow the whistle. Clark said those moments had an emotional impact on her that she hopes to control better.

“I thought I got fouled a couple times there in the second half on mid-range jump shots,” Clark said. “It happens. Sometimes they get calls, sometimes they don’t. It is what it is. I think I settled a little bit too much for mid-ranee jump shots, but I thought I got bumped a little bit, and I was honestly trying to shot-fake them to get them to foul me.

“I mean, I think I could have done a little bit better of a job controlling my own emotions.”

But Clark added that she doesn’t believe her emotions need to change.

“I think there’s a line and sometimes your passion, your emotion can get to you,” Clark said. “But that’s never something I would ever change or anybody on our team would change.”

At one point in the game during the third quarter, Clark got knocked to the floor by Minnesota’s Napheesa Collier. Collier’s arms appeared to hit Clark in the upper head and shoulder area when Clark tried to score in the paint.

The officials did not call a foul on Collier, and Clark lay on the floor with her arms spread out to her sides.

Clark didn’t have any urgency in getting back up, and the Lynx made it down the court on a fast break and scored. That score put the Fever in a 10-point hole that they never dug out of.

Clark’s coach, Christie Sides, addressed the incident after the game, too.

“When she’s upset or mad — that’s what we’ve been working on, trying to figure out how to get past those moments,” Sides said. “She’s got to learn that, in those moments, I need my point guard to have a cool head, get us in whatever we need to be in offensively, and if it’s not a foul call that you thought, you have to get back.”

“There’s a reaction to all of our actions, and we have to make sure we don’t put ourselves in a worse spot with those kind of moments.”

Clark has had to manage her emotions quickly since coming to the WNBA with regard to hard fouls.

Last week, Chicago Sky player Diamond DeShields sent Clark flying across the floor for a foul that was later upgraded to flagrant-1. After the game, DeShields posted a screenshot of her notifications list on Instagram, which included a string of hate comments from a user.

Clark took an infamous illegal hip check from Chicago Sky forward Chennedy Carter on June 1. Carter refused to answer questions about the incident at the postgame press conference but used her social media to repeatedly criticize Clark.

Former NBA All-Star Joakim Noah believes the Fever should look to address the issue by signing a player who can dish the punishment back against opponents who are too physical with Clark.

“If I was the owner of the Indiana Fever, I would get a real enforcer in there to protect her,” Noah told Fox News Digital during an interview at “NBA Night” in the Emirates Suite at the U.S. Open in New York on Wednesday.

Noah acknowledged that Clark may be getting hit by opposing players because they are aware of the talent she brings as a difference-maker on the court.

“Sometimes I feel like she is getting hit because she is a very talented person,” he said. “But at the end of the day, we’re in the business of winning games, so if I’m the owner [of the Indiana Fever], I’m getting a real enforcer in there.”

However, Noah believes that the physical treatment Clark has received has been great for the WNBA.

“I think it’s great,” Noah said when specifically asked about the fouls that have occurred against Chicago. “I think it’s all entertainment.”

ESPN broadcaster Holly Rowe issued a similar sentiment to Noah’s in an interview with Fox News Digital last month.

“I think it’s good for the game,” Rowe said. “I kind of love it because it is supposed to be salty, that’s why it’s competitive, that’s why it’s sports.”

Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley spoke out against the players who have undermined the positive attention Clark’s rookie season has brought to the WNBA this year during an appearance on the “Bill Simmons Podcast” on Wednesday.

“These ladies, and I’m a WNBA fan, they could not have f—ed this Caitlin Clark thing up even worse if they tried,” Barkley said on the show. “This girl is incredible,” Barkley said. “The number of attention, eyeballs, she’s brought to college and the pros, and for these women to have this petty jealousness, and you’re saying to yourself, ‘Damn, what is going on here?’”

The spotlight on Caitlin Clark during her rookie season may be brighter than ever on a WNBA player.

The former Iowa Hawkeyes superstar is finding out the hard way that things are not going to come easy for her in her rookie campaign in the WNBA. On Friday night, she was reminded of that as the Indiana Fever took on the defending champion Las Vegas Aces.

Early in the second quarter, Aces star Alysha Clark became enraged after she was called for a foul following Clark’s attempt to drive to the basket and score.

Clark took a huge hit to her face and got two free throws because of it.

It’s challenging for Caitlin Clark to lead the typical life she formerly knew because she is constantly harassed by fans and the media.

“Honestly, I feel like I talk to the media more than I get to talk to my own family … which is really kind of sad, in a way,” Clark said during a press conference earlier this week. “It’s a lot for somebody that’s 22 years old. It can be tough at times.”

The Hollywood stars are parents to two boys

essica Biel brought her nine-year-old son, Silas, as her date to the US Open on Thursday.

The Candy actress — who also shares Phineas, four, with her husband, Justin Timberlake — walked hand-in-hand with the little boy as they entered the stadium together.

Mother and son looked smart with Jessica donning a cream-colored suit and Silas wearing a striped polo shirt, long pants and sneakers.

Once inside, they sat alongside each other in the stands and watched the tennis together.

It’s an ultra-rare appearance for Silas, as Jessica and Justin have kept their boys out of the spotlight over the years.

The family moved to Montana for a quieter life away from the limelight of Hollywood and have only given fans a sneak peek at their kids on social media, often obscuring their faces.

“I try to be conscious of making sure we can live a life where we’re not weirdly private,” Justin said during an appearance on Armchair Expert podcast in 2021.

“But we’re conscious of making sure they can be kids for as long as possible and not have the weight of somebody else treating them differently because of something that their parents do.”

Please no,’” she said on Armchair Expert. “But then, I look at these kids and I’m like, ‘Oh (expletive), they’re probably going to be musical.’ What are we going to do? Like, not let them play the piano? Or not let them take a voice lesson if that’s their passion?”

She then said: “I don’t want to be that parent to stifle a dream, but, man, if my kid would just be like, ‘Let’s go learn about corn in Iowa,’ (I’d be like), ‘Great.’ I would so much rather them be an engineer or something.”

The host noted that she’s “here for a redemption arc, not a rehabilitation arc.”

The ladies of The View aren’t too pleased with con artist Anna Delvey being cast in the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars.

The Inventing Anna subject, born Anna Sorokin, was convicted of grand larceny and other financial crimes in 2019 after she pretended to pose as a fake German heiress. Delvey served almost four years in prison and has remained on house arrest since her release in 2022.

In order to compete on Dancing With the Stars, Delvey told Entertainment Weekly that she had to “get permission from ICE to be able to travel out of state” in advance. Her pro partner, newcomer Ezra Sosa, also noted that he plans to bejewel Delvey’s ankle monitor for the show.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, however, isn’t so easily swindled. “I’m here for a redemption arc, not a rehabilitation arc, and the difference is this: somebody who has owned and taken responsibility for what they did wrong,” she explained. “Martha Stewart, she did jail time. I am here to see Martha Stewart thrive. Even Gypsy Rose [Blanchard], I put her into that category because she did the time and acknowledged wrongdoing for what she did. I’m not convinced that this person [Delvey] has.”

Griffin continued, “[Delvey] still owes people money and con artists tend to remain con artists, so I would just say if you’re around her there, I would be wary of the schemes she might be working.”

Swift is at the men’s final along with Travis Kelce on Sunday, four days after watching her boyfriend’s Kansas City Chiefs open their NFL season with a victory.

The singing superstar was wearing a red-and-white checkered dress when she arrived for the match between American Taylor Fritz and Jannik Sinner of Italy. Kelce was dressed in a white shirt and sweater, looking dressed more appropriately for Wimbledon.

The couple sat in a box at Arthur Ashe Stadium along with Patrick Mahomes, Kelce’s teammate with the Super Bowl champion Chiefs, and his wife, Brittany.

Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce’s merch is reaching new heights in the United Kingdom, and the Chiefs tight end was quick to thank his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, for the assist.

While discussing the spike in sales during the Dec. 13 episode of their New Heights podcast, Jason asked his brother, “A lot of Swifties over there in the U.K.?”

“There’s gotta be,” Travis replied. “Only reasonable solution to all of this.”

Since Taylor and Travis began dating, many Swifties have taken a newfound interest in the NFL, and the Kansas City star in particular, likely leading to an increase in sales.

As for Jason, who plays for the Eagles, he thinks there may be a glitch over his shirt purchases—humbly suggesting on the podcast that people may be snagging his jersey because they think he’s dating Taylor instead of his brother.

“No, they’re all Kylie Kelce fans,” Travis quipped back. “Shoutout to Kylie, shoutout to Taylor. Thank you guys.”

Travis has certainly been the lucky one since his whirlwind relationship with Taylor went public in September, but the “Karma” singer also seems stuck in a lavender haze.

“We’re just proud of each other,” the singer told TIME magazine in her Person of the Year profile published on Dec. 6. “When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care.”

Most recently, Taylor was by Travis’ side when he struck out and was crawling home after his loss against the Buffalo Bills on Dec. 10. Later that evening, the couple was spotted packing on the PDA at a Christmas party in Missouri.

And although she’s currently on a break from her tour, the NFL player did travel to support Taylor during the Argentina leg of the Eras Tour. He was only able to see one show due to inclement weather, but the guy on the Chiefs had a great time beside Scott Swift in the V.I.P tent on Nov. 12.

Long before Taylor Swift’s attendance at Kansas City Chief’s Sept. 25 game became one of the definitive pop culture moments of the year, Travis Kelce was an admirer of the Grammy winner.

The star tight end’s interest in Taylor was first revealed by one of his teammates in a TikTok video posted by the Chiefs in August.

Before Travis could answer the prompt of who his celebrity crush was when he was growing up, wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling spilled, “Taylor Swift!”

Travis smiled at the camera before holding his finger up to his moustache, saying, “Alright now!”

No. 2: He’s Not Her Usual Type (on Paper)

While he does have that daydream look in his eyes (especially when he sees Taylor on the big-screen at one of his games), Travis stands out a bit when you look back at Taylor’s dating history.

She is typically attracted to creative types, including actors (Joe Alwyn, Jake Gyllenhaal, Taylor Lautner and Tom Hiddleston) and musicians (Calvin Harris, John Mayer, Harry Styles, and, most recently, Matt Healey).

But perhaps that’s why her romance with the lighthearted and cheeky athlete—who signed a four-year deal worth $57 million in 2020—feels like such a refreshing option for Taylor after her six-year uber-private relationship with Joe came to an end this past April.

No. 3: He Publicly Pursued Her

Looks like the 8-time Pro Bowler’s wishes came true after he all but manifested his rumored romance with the superstar through sheer will, determination and declarations of infatuation.

As it turns out, he had a special gift for her: He made her a friendship bracelet bearing his “number” that he hoped to give Taylor. (He wouldn’t definitely say if it was his jersey number or phone number.)

Alas, the NFL’s best tight end couldn’t get past the line of scrimmage that is Taylor’s pre-show rituals.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Travis shared on the July 26 episode of his New Heights podcast. “So I was a little butt-hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”

Despite his claim that he failed to reach the end-zone, many fans speculated that the two had been talking, something Travis more or less confirmed during a Sept. 22 appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

“I threw it out there, I threw the ball in her court,” he explained. “I told her, ‘I’ve seen you rock the stage at Arrowhead. You might have to come see me rock the stage at Arrowhead and see which one’s a little more lit.’ We’ll see what happens in the near future.”

No. 4: She Isn’t In Hiding

Since her breakup with Joe, Taylor has been seen out and about much more frequently, including outings with friends in New York City and jubilant appearances at award shows, like the 2023 MTV VMAs.

But her most talked-about appearance? Sitting in Travis’ suite at the Kansas City Chief’s Sept. 24 home game against the Chicago Bears.

Rather than shy away from the attention, Taylor cheered, screamed “Let’s f–king go!” when Travis scored a touchdown and enjoyed beverages and a chicken tender with as one fan called it “ketchup and seemingly ranch.”

Like the public, even Travis admitted he was caught off-guard by Taylor accepting his invite.

“Shoutout to Taylor for pulling up, that was pretty ballsy,” Travis said during the Sept. 27 episode of the New Heights podcast. “I just thought it was awesome how everyone in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her, the friends and family.”

“She looked amazing,” he added. ” It was definitely a game I will remember, that’s for damn sure.”

After the game, Travis and Taylor were spotted leaving the stadium together in his convertible.

“We just slid off in the getaway car at the end,” said Travis, notably referencing Taylor’s hit song.”Shoutout to Taylor for coming through and seeing me rock the stage.”

No. 5: He Knows When to Pull Back

While Travis isn’t afraid to spill some tea on his podcast about his interactions with Taylor, he still expressed his boundaries about addressing his personal life moving forward.

“I know I brought all this attention to me,” he explained. “I did the whole friendship bracelet thing and told everyone how butthurt I was that I didn’t get to meet Taylor.” However, he continued, he didn’t plan to give a full play-by-play of their relationship.

“What’s real is that it is my personal life and I want to respect both of our lives,” he explained. “I’m enjoying life and I sure as hell enjoyed this weekend. So everything moving forward, I think me talking about sports and saying ‘alright nah’ will have to be where I keep it.”

But that doesn’t mean he wasn’t willing to respectfully call out the NFL for not exactly being delicate with their coverage of Taylor’s recent interest in, ahem, football.

“They’re overdoing it a little bit for sure—especially my situation,” he said during the Oct. 4 episode of New Heights. “But I think they’re just trying to have fun with it.”

No. 6: He’s Family-Oriented

Like Taylor, who is close with her parents, particularly her mother Andrea, Travis hails from a tight-knit fam, including his parents Ed and Donna Kelce.

Donna became a beloved public figure when she became the first mother to have two sons playing against each other in a Super Bowl, when Travis faced off against his older brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce in the big game this past February.

“For all the stars to align and for them to get through high school and college and the pros. And for them to both play in the Pro Bowl and to play in the Super Bowl, and then for this to happen,” Donna told ET at the time. “This is just like a dream come true. I can’t express enough how special this is for the family and it’s just crazy.”

For the big game, Donna, who was married to Ed for 25 years before they divorced, supported both of her sons by wearing a half-black, half-red Eagles and Chiefs jacket.

After the Super Bowl, which saw the Chiefs best the Eagles, Travis and Jason got emotional while reflecting on sharing the experience with Donna.

“The moment I saw mom is when I got really emotional,” Jason said on the brothers’ New Heights podcast. “It was so awesome…She was on top of the world for a week.”

“She was the heavyweight champ man,” Travis added. “She was on top of it, and she shined the whole time.”

No. 7: He’s Super-Close With His Brother

Like Taylor and her younger brother Austin, Travis has a special bond with his older brother Jason, who inspired him to play football.

In addition to their impressive careers as NFL players, Travis and Jason launched their podcast New Heights in September 2022, a project that has only strengthened their relationship.

“What this did was gave us a scheduled 2-3 hour window where we have to talk to each other and we have to talk about what we’re going through, throughout the week and throughout the games,” Travis told NBC Sports in February. “It’s almost been like therapy, man.”

No. 8: They Have a Mutual Friend

Sure, the pair technically never met until this year, but there have been a few invisible strings tying them together.
