Novak Djokovic sent clear warning by Jannik Sinner after winning U.S. Open

Jannik Sinner became the first man since Guillermo Vilas in 1977 to win both hard court Grand Slam titles in the same year – and warned he is only going to get better.

Jannik Sinner hailed the ascent of tennis’ “new generation” as he celebrated a landmark year, with both world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz and himself claiming all Grand Slam titles this season – a feat not seen since 1993 for players aged 23 or under.

Sinner, just 23, clinched the hardcourt double with a victory over Taylor Fritz to take home the U.S. Open trophy, adding to his Australian Open triumph.

For the first time in nearly two decades, the Big Three – Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer – went without a major title in what has proved a seismic shift in the world of men’s tennis. “It is a bit different, for sure,” Sinner acknowledged.

“It’s something new. It’s nice for the sport to see some new champions. Nice to see new rivalries. I feel like the new generation we push each other, trying to improve.”

Having conquered every final he strode into this year, Sinner exuded confidence and an eagerness to evolve further under pressure. “I always have players and I will always have players who are going to make me a better player, because there are going to be times where they beat me.”

“Then you have to try to find a way how to win against certain players. I feel it’s good for the sport to have some new champions.”

Sinner’s victory parade commenced in Melbourne and didn’t miss a beat through the season, seeing him crowned the youngest man to snag both hard court major titles within a single season. Even more impressive, he joins an exclusive club alongside Jimmy Connors (1974) and Guillermo Vilas (1977), becoming only the third man in the Open Era to clutch his initial duo of Grand Slam crowns in one calendar swoop.

The Italian tennis star is gearing up for more improvement, noting that despite his recent performance, not everything was at its best. “Today we saw that not everything was perfect,” he remarked, adding that he aims to keep evolving his game.

“I could have served slightly better, but this makes me realise that the work never stops.”

He discussed the constant grind and the importance of maintaining daily routines, stressing, “It’s always a continuous work which, at the end of the day, if you want to be a better player you always have to work, and you have to have these daily routines, accept difficult times on court.”

“The work never stops. How can you play better against certain opponents? How do you work on such shots?

“I was a lot in the gym, because I knew physically I still had to improve and I still have to improve a lot. This is all part of the sacrifices you make for an eventual future. So we will keep working.

“I know that I’m not perfect and I will never be perfect, but we always try to evolve in my game. Then after my career I can say: ‘Okay, I’ve done everything possible to be at 100 per cent.’”.

After securing a victory against Fritz, he opened up about recent challenges during his courtside interview, stating, “The last month has been very difficult because you all know what I went through.”

Jannik Sinner admitted he had “chills” after a special conversation with his coach.

Darren Cahill made a touching statement about the Italian’s parents which stayed with him as he headed into the US Open final.

Sinner is very close with his family – he previously dedicated his Australian Open victory to his mum and dad. And after winning the US Open, he paid tribute to his seriously ill aunt.

The world No. 1 was the overwhelming favourite going into Sunday’s championship match. His opponent, Taylor Fritz, had never made it so far in a Grand Slam and had the pressure of trying to become the first American man to win a Major in 21 years.

Meanwhile, Sinner already had a Slam trophy under his belt and was the top seed. But the 23-year-old still needed a pep talk from his coach ahead of the match and it proved significant. “The best compliment I got was from Darren before the final,” the Italian said.

Relaying Cahill’s heartwarming message, Sinner continued: “He said: ‘Do you know who the two people who are most proud of you are? Your parents.’ That gave me chills. Him being a father, it had a special effect on me because he knows exactly what I’ve been through.”

The top seed took that sentiment into the match, where managed to recover from a wobble in the third set and won the last four games in a row, beating Fritz 6-3 6-4 7-5. Stepping up to address Arthur Ashe Stadium as the newly-crowned champion, Sinner dedicated his triumph to his aunt.

“I love tennis, I practise a lot for this kind of stages but I also realise that off the court there is a life,” he explained. “I would like to dedicate this title to my aunt because she is really not feeling well health-wise, I don’t know how much longer I’ll have her in my life.

“It’s so nice that I can share positive moments still with her. She was a very important person for my life and she still is. So if that would be the biggest wish, I would wish everyone the best health to everyone but unfortunately it’s not possible.”

Appearing on the Today Show the morning after winning his second Major, Sinner elaborated on his relationship with his aunt. “It’s a very difficult moment,” he said.

“She is a very important person in my life because my parents, they used to work all the time, and every time when I came back home after school or whatever and my parents weren’t there, my aunt sometimes arrived.”

It’s not the first time Sinner has credited his family for his Grand Slam success. When he won the Australian Open in January, he told the crowd: “I wish that everyone could have my parents because they always let me choose whatever I wanted to. Even when I was younger, I played also some other sports and then they never put pressure on myself. And I wish that this freedom was possible for as many young kids as possible so thank you so much for my parents.”

Taylor Swift has endorsed Kamala Harris for President only days after her friend Brittany Mahomes – wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes – appeared to support Donald Trump.

Caitlin Clark was among those who liked the bombshell post by Swift – the girlfriend of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce – following Tuesday’s Presidential debate.

Patrick Mahomes and Kelce are close friends and the couples sat together at the men’s US Open singles final on Sunday.

They later headed out for a double date in New York, not long after Brittany had hit the headlines by liking several posts on social media in support of Trump.

More than 2.5million people had liked Swift’s Instagram post in little over half an hour on Tuesday night, when the pop superstar confirmed: ‘I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election.’

Swift added: ‘I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.

‘I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate (Walz), who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades. I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice.’

It’s official – Taylor Swift has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for President!

Moments after the Presidential Debate between Harris and former President Donald Trump on Tuesday night (Sept. 10), the 34-year-old “Cruel Summer” singer took to Instagram to announce that she was be voting for Harris for President in the upcoming election this November.

“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most,” Taylor wrote. “As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.”

Taylor then went on to address the AI photos circulating on social media that falsely suggested that she was would be voting for Trump.

“Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”

Taylor then went to explain why she’s voting for Harris and her VP pick Tim Walz.

“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” Taylor wrote. “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. Taylor concluded her post by referring to herself as a “childless cat lady,” which Trump‘s running mate J.D. Vance previously used as a derogatory term to describe Democratic women who worked in politics.

“I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice,” Taylor wrote. “Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story. With love and hope, Taylor Swift. Childless Cat Lady.”

  • Matthew Lawrence says his crush on Danielle Fishel caused tension with Justin Timberlake: ‘He didn’t like me’

Matthew Lawrence says his crush on Danielle Fishel caused tension with Justin Timberlake: ‘He didn’t like me’

The “Boy Meets World” actor admits he accidentally made a bad impression on the NSYNC singer.

Matthew Lawrence said bye bye bye to his chances of a friendship with Justin Timberlake a long time ago, when the duo first met on the set of Boy Meets World.

While Lawrence has alway been a big fan of the then-NSYNC singer, they unfortunately got off on the wrong foot. Or at least, that’s what the actor was told by Timberlake himself. Lawrence divulged the details of the encounter on the latest episode of the rewatch podcast Pod Meets World, hosted by his former costars Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle.

“I don’t know if you guys — well, of course, you remember this — but when NYSYNC kept coming over to the set? I found out years later, when I bumped into Justin, that he thought I was not very nice,” Lawrence revealed. “He didn’t like me. And he flat out told me to my face.”

Lawrence explained that this revelation came hot on the heels of Timberlake’s debut solo album, Justified, when he approached the pop star to compliment his work.

“I was a huge fan,” he said. “I didn’t have any recollection of this, and he was like, ‘Oh yeah? Yeah? Now you wanna be friends with me? You were so mean on the set.’”

While Friedle, Strong, and Fishel initially reacted with shock, they then admitted that Timberlake’s bad impression was probably due to Lawrence being pretty as a teen.

“I was super shy,” Lawrence agreed, but also pointed to another reason that he may have responded poorly to NSYNC’s constant presence. “I had, you know, kind of a crush on Danielle. And these guys kept rolling up on set, like, trying to hit on her!”

Strong was quick to back him up, adding that the band was “just orbiting around Danielle in a constant circle.”

Fishel only laughed: “I was wondering if you were gonna say it! I was like, ‘I also know why he was probably a little standoffish.’”

Though Lawrence was apparently the only one whose jealousy made an impression on Timberlake, Strong and Friedle commiserated the memory of sharing Fishel’s attention with the massively popular boy band.

“I remember us guys would always be like, ‘These dudes! Oh my god, they come around here.’ And we would watch Danielle, like, completely ignore all of us,” Strong said. “We would, like, lose our sister. We would just lose her, and we’d be like, ‘Oh, god. She totally changes around them. She just totally changes.’”

The former castmates then joked about the fact that Fishel ultimately went on to land Lance Bass, who she dated for about a year in 1999 — six years before he would publicly come out as gay.

Friedle quipped that, despite her “one-in-five chance” of ending up with a member of NSYNC, “she chose poorly.” But Fishel maintained that it was all part of the plan.

“I liked the comfort and security of knowing nothing was gonna happen,” she joked.

Meanwhile, Lawrence lamented that he never got the chance to fully explain himself to Timberlake. But despite his jealousy over the “Cry Me a River” singer, Fishel made no mention of Timberlake ever pursuing her and previously mentioned that he played an instrumental role in kicking off her romance with his bandmate.

Bass joined the Pod Meets World hosts for a 2023 episode of the podcast, where he and Fishel shared details about their nearly foiled meet-cute, when NSYNC played a televised event hosted by Fishel. After Bass failed to get her number, Fishel saw the tour bus depart and assumed they had missed their chance — until someone called her name.

“I stopped, and I turned around, and it was Justin,” Fishel said, sharing that Timberlake asked for her number and said it was for Bass.  “And sure enough, a couple days later, I had a missed call and a voicemail from Lance — and it was Lance but Justin also screaming in the background about how nervous Lance was to be calling me.”

Whoopi Goldberg doesn’t think Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter was ‘snubbed’ by CMA Awards: ‘It wasn’t for them’ (HG)

“The best revenge is success,” Sara Haines added on “The View.”

Whoopi Goldberg has attempted to lasso fan expectations when it comes to Beyoncé’s country music crossover, as The View moderator and Oscar-winning actress said she doesn’t feel the CMA Awards snubbed the former Destiny’s Child superstar when it bestowed her Cowboy Carter album with zero nominations earlier this week.

“A lot of people are surprised — I don’t know why — that it didn’t receive a single CMA Award nomination. Well, this is the question: Are you surprised?” the 68-year-old said on Tuesday’s episode of the talk show, opening the discussion up to her cohosts after she said, “I don’t think she was snubbed, I think they just didn’t… it wasn’t for them.”

Legal expert Sunny Hostin said she expected Beyoncé to score nominations for two tracks from the well-received album, including a contemporary reinterpretation of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” which Parton herself gave her blessing to — enough so that Parton actually appeared on Cowboy Carter to introduce the song.

The View Whoopi Goldberg, Beyoncé Cowboy Carter album cover

“I happen to love Dolly Parton, so I felt that when the Queen of Country sort of passed the baton a little bit for ‘Jolene,’ which was an incredible song on her album, and ‘Texas Hold ‘Em,’ two incredible country songs, I thought she would at least get nominated for those two,” Hostin, 55, said. “But, my mother always told me, ‘Find the audience that’s looking for you.’ This audience isn’t looking for her.”

Conservative panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin jumped in, estimating that the “audience is” in Beyoncé’s corner, despite “industry insiders” in the Country Music Association voting block. “Listeners are with her,” Griffin, 35, stressed, referencing Cowboy Carter’s success on American music rankings. “The Country Billboard charts do not lie.”

Goldberg reminded Griffin that listeners are “not the voters,” before cohost Sara Haines told her colleagues that she felt artists are, most importantly, “making [music] to be consumed, not for it to be judged by people,” and that there are “always some politics involved” in awards-based voting processes.

“She knows who she is,” the 46-year-old finished. “The best revenge is success.”

Upon its release in March, Cowboy Carter hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200, after its lead single, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Still, select country radio stations initially refused to play the song due to Beyoncé’s artistic roots in other popular music genres.

Goldberg’s thoughts on award snubs has remained consistent over the years, including when she addressed claims that the Oscars snubbed Barbie’s Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig in the Best Actress and Best Director categories earlier this year.

“There are no snubs. That’s what you have to keep in mind: Not everybody gets a prize, and it is subjective. Movies are subjective,” Goldberg said on The View in January. “The movies you love may not be loved by the people who are voting.”

Karl-Anthony Towns Proposes A Question Amid ‘Disturbing’ Tyreek Hill Arrest Video

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill recently faced a devastating incident before the Dolphins’ season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The 30-year-old was arrested by Miami-Dade police after a brief argument with the officers. While many fans and players have reacted to the incident, Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Karl-Anthony Towns also shared his thoughts on the NFL star’s arrest.

In a recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Towns, who was recently spotted in Vegas with Paul George, expressed his disappointment with the Miami police. The four-time NBA All-Star mentioned that the incident was disturbing and disgusting and asked the question of what would happen if a normal person had done the same.

“That @cheetah police video is not only disturbing, but disgusting. Like he said, what would’ve happen if he wasn’t who he is?” Towns mentioned in his latest post on X.

The incident took place outside Hard Rock Stadium. Hill was driving his car when the officers stopped him. After opening the window, the Miami-Dade Police asked the 30-year-old to provide his license. They had a brief argument, which escalated to an arrest when the officers pulled Hill out of the car.

Hill’s teammate, Calais Campbell, was also present during the incident and tried to calm the situation. However, the officers arrested him because he tried to defend Hill. Later, Miami-Dade Police Department Director Stephanie V. Daniels mentioned that the officers were under investigation.

Fans Hold Contrasting Opinions on Towns’ Post

While many fans have already shown their anger over the officers’ behavior, several other fans also criticized Hill because of his attitude towards the officers. Many fans started criticizing Hill in the comment section of Towns’ post.

One fan said he had a better question than Towns: “What would’ve happened if he followed the officers’ instructions? Answer: nothing.”

Meanwhile, another fan said, “That shouldn’t play a factor at all. He’s not above the law. Going 105 in a 50? C’mon. If it was any normal person they’d be in jail. He’s lucky to get off like he did. And normal people would’ve just complied.”

Another fan questioned Towns, “Do you really not see that tyreek had an equal part in this situation. Both parties acted like idiots. What you people say about this?be real.”

According to StatMuse, Towns averaged 21.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 62 games in the 2023-24 season. He was selected to play in his fourth All-Star Game. The Timberwolves star’s reaction has garnered the attention of several fans, and it will be fascinating to see if any player or analyst will join the fans in reacting to Towns’ post.

With every new development, the Tyreek Hill situation gets crazier and many other celebrities are seaking out on what they saw.

The day after the Miami Dolphins wide receiver was arrested, NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley was on the Roc and Manuch Show, where they asked about his thoughts.

“I don’t know what happened, I think it clearly escalated quickly. I hate that we’re gonna throw it into media because the guys are gonna quickly go to race, and it bothers me because we don’t know what happened. We got so many fools in the media who love to play the race card,” Barkley said.

Charles Barkley voiced some concerns about the handling of the situation by many in the media and even compared it to the situation involving Scottie Scheffler being arrested before the second round of the PGA Championship.

“I hate that we’re gonna throw it in the media because the guys are going to quickly go to race, and it bothers me because we don’t know what happened. We got so many fools in the media that love to play the race card, I saw wait a minute they just did the same thing to Scottie Scheffler.”

Barkley added that a celebrity can’t pull that card when pulled over, which Tyreek Hill never did, and that everybody should cooperate in that situation.

“I think the one thing you can’t do as a celebrity, you can’t say, ‘Do you know who I am?’” Barkley said. “Like I said I don’t know what happened but that’s the one thing you can’t do. You say, ‘yes sir,’ cooperate 100%.”

He blamed Hill for making the situation escalate after reading the police report.

“I saw on the police report he was uncooperative, but the one thing I hate is when we put stuff in the media, and we let guys who race bait start throwing stuff out there,” Barkley said. “I saw wait a minute the same thing just happened to Scottie Scheffler, who actually got booked, he went down to the big house.”

Despite the pregame turmoil, Tyreek Hill wasn’t the least bit phased as the Dolphins ultimately secured a 20-17 victory over the Jaguars, with Hill playing a key role in the conference win.

He finished the day hauling in seven passes for 130 yards, including an 80-yard reception for a touchdown.

Tyreek Hill said he was “still shell-shocked” and “embarrassed” following a controversial police detainment that occurred just hours before the team’s season opener on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The news dominated headlines as teams around the country were gearing up for the opening of the 2024 season.

In an interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Hill said the traffic stop could have turned tragic were he, not a famous figure, telling her the story could have been, “Tyreek Hill got shot in front of Hard Rock Stadium?”

Hill was ripped by his arms and head from his car during a traffic stop Sunday morning just outside the stadium, hours before the season opened.

Recently released body cam shows cops got angry when Hill closed his car window and didn’t reopen it quickly enough.

“I really wasn’t on that kind of energy. Like, I was chilling. I was following the rules. I wasn’t moving fast because, you know, I got injuries. You feel me? I got things that I go through. I’ve been doing this for a moment now, man. So I’m dealing with some stuff. I’m still kinda shell-shocked from it,” Hill told Collins.

It seems the male cast members of Boy Meets World weren’t particularly in sync with a certain boy band when they visited the set of the beloved ’90s sitcom.

On the most recent episode of rewatch podcast Pod Meets World, Matthew Lawrence joined hosts Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle and Rider Strong to share memories of their time starring in Boy Meets World, including of *NSYNC’s frequent visits to the show’s set.

“I don’t know if you guys — well, of course, you remember this — but when *NYSYNC kept coming over to the set?” Lawrence recalled. “I found out years later when I bumped into Justin [Timberlake] that he thought I was not very nice.”

“He didn’t like me. And he flat out told me to my face,” Lawrence said, recalling an encounter he had with the “Cry Me a River” singer around the time that his debut solo album Justified was released in 2002. “I was a huge fan. I didn’t have any recollection of this, and he was like, ‘Oh, yeah. Yeah, now you wanna be friends with me? You were so mean on the set.’ ”

Lawrence and Strong chalked Timberlake’s take on the actor up to Lawrence’s shyness.

“I was super shy,” Lawrence said, “and also, I had, you know, kind of a crush on Danielle. And these guys kept rolling up on set, like, trying to hit on her!”

“Just orbiting around Danielle in a constant circle,” Strong recalled.

“I was wonder if you were gonna say it,” Fishel said, laughing. “I was like, I also know why he was probably a little sandoffish …”

“I remember us guys would always be like, ‘These dudes! Oh my god, they come around here…’ ” Strong recalled. “And we would watch Danielle, like, completely ignore all of us. We would, like, lose our sister. We would just lose her, and we’d be like, ‘Oh, god. She totally changes around them. She just totally changes.’ ”

Friedle joked that, despite her “one-in-five chance” of finding romance with a member of one of the biggest pop acts in the world at the time, Fishel “chose poorly.”

The actress famously dated Lance Bass for about a year while she was still starring in Boy Meets World, and the singer even escorted Fishel to her high school prom. Bass, of course, came out publicly as gay in 2006. On a 2022 episode of Pod Meets World, the pair said they were working on a film based on their teen romance.

“I liked the comfort and security of knowing nothing was gonna happen!” Fishel joked of her relationship with Bass on this week’s episode of the podcast.

Friedle also remembered a hilarious moment on set with Timberlake involving a baby doll that stood in for newborn Joshua Matthews, younger brother to Friedle and Ben Savage’s characters.

“The thing I remember is you and I, one time, Matt, were hanging out. It must have been season 7. Like, they just had the baby, whenever the baby happened on the show. Because at one point, they gave us the baby the doll,” Friedle said. “I think it was Justin and Joey [Fatone] were there. I forget who it was, but I was just playing with the doll and putting the cigarette in its mouth and then, like, making it cough and, like, Justin just looked at me, like, ‘Are you actually crazy?’ ”

“He’s like, ‘Dude, this is insane,’ ” Friedle recalled. “I’m like, ‘Yeah. This is what we do. This is our day at work.’ ”
