    (B) Candice Bergen Takes Dig at Vice Presidential Candidate J.D. Vance in 2024 Emmys Speech: ‘Meow’

“A Republican candidate for vice president would never attack a woman for having kids,” Bergen joked, referencing her famous ‘Murphy Brown’ interaction with former vice president Dan Quayle

On stage at the 76th annual awards ceremony, Bergen gave a speech before presenting the nominees for lead actress in a comedy series. Taking a moment to poke fun at the parallels in her acting career and the current political climate, the actress referred to her popular 1980s sitcom Murphy Brown.

“For 11 years, I had the tremendous privilege of playing the lead in a comedy series called Murphy Brown,” said Bergen, 78. “I was surrounded by brilliant and funny actors, had the best scripts to work with, and in one classic moment, my character was attacked by vice president Dan Quayle when Murphy became pregnant and decided to raise the baby as a single mother.”

“Oh how far we’ve come,” Bergen, who has a daughter, said sarcastically. “Today, a Republican candidate for vice president would never attack a woman for having kids. So as they say, my work here is done. Meow!”

Bergen was referring to vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance’s now-viral comments deriding “childless cat ladies.”

Earlier in the show, Selena Gomez also referred to Vance’s comments during a monologue with Only Murders in the Building costars Steve Martin and Martin Short.

“Steve, let me say what an honor it is to be working with someone who looks like he’s fallen and can’t get up,” Short quipped.

Martin replied, “And let me say what an honor it is for me to be working with someone who looks like a former women’s tennis champion.”

Then, Gomez remarked: “And let me say, what an honor it is to work with two men who are this far away from being childless cat ladies.”

Vance’s comment has prompted several celebrities to speak out against him, with Taylor Swift endorsing Harris for president after the Sept. 10 debate.

“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Swift began in an Instagram post, alongside a photo of herself holding a cat. “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”

“I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story.”

Swift then signed the statement as a “Childless Cat Lady,” a reference to the 2021 comments made by Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance.

WATCH: Jayson Tatum says Deuce is getting a championship ring

BOSTON — Did you enjoy the Celtics-Mavericks NBA Finals? Boston fans certainly did, and Celtics star Jayson Tatum believes a rematch is coming next summer.

Fresh off his first NBA title, another gold medal in the Olympics, and several other honors being bestowed upon him this summer, Tatum continued his offseason of fun with an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night. Tatum was promoting his new children’s book, “Baby Dunks-a-Lot,” but Fallon wasn’t going to let the budding superstar go without asking a few tough questions.

The late-night host found an essay that Tatum wrote when he was just nine years old about his goals for the future. In it, Tatum said he wanted play in the NBA and represent the USA at the Olympics before he turned 30. The 26-year-old Tatum has accomplished both of those goals, so Fallon took it as a sign that Tatum can also predict the future.

As a New Yorker, Fallon asked if his New York Knicks will win more than the 50 games they won last season. Tatum believes Boston’s Atlantic Division foe will win “a few more” games than they did in 2024.

As for next season’s NBA MVP, Tatum had an obvious choice.

Tatum led the Celtics in scoring, rebounding, and assists during the postseason, becoming one of just six players to do so while winning a title. But playing on a loaded Celtics team, he finished sixth in NBA MVP voting during the regular season. The highest he’s finished in the MVP race was fourth in 2023.

Có thể là hình ảnh về 2 người, mọi người đang chơi bóng bầu dục và văn bản

Tatum certainly has the talent and the skills to win an MVP, but in order to keep up with the volume scoring of guys like Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the all-around stats of Nikola Jokic, he’d have to get really selfish on the floor. That isn’t really his mentality, and it’s not really what’s best for Boston with Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, and Kristaps Porzingis also on the floor.

That doesn’t mean Tatum can’t win an MVP next season, but it’s a lot harder to do so with all that talent around him. And in the end, he’s going to put winning another title ahead of his own stats and awards.

Tatum has loads of confidence that the Celtics will be there in the end next summer, picking his team to head to the NBA Finals for a second straight season.

“It’s gonna be a rematch. We’re going to play Dallas again,” Tatum said after giving it some thought.

He didn’t pick a winner in that matchup, but it’s pretty safe to assume who Tatum would pick to win that rematch. Tatum also revealed that his young son, Deuce, will be getting his own championship ring from Boston’s title run.

Tatum and the Celtics will begin defending their title on Oct. 22 at TD Garden against the Knicks — after collecting their rings and raising the franchise’s 18th championship banner to the rafters.

Jayson Tatum Picks Himself As The MVP Frontrunner For 2025

Jayson Tatum Picks Himself As The MVP Frontrunner For 2025

In a viral appearance on “The Tonight Show,” Celtics star Jayson Tatum made his pick for next season’s NBA MVP. Hilariously, Tatum nominated himself, much to the amusement of Jimmy Kimmel.

Jimmy Fallon: “Who do you predict will be the NBA’s next MVP?”

Jayson Tatum: “Can I say myself?”

Tatum also picked which teams will make the Finals next season, stating that his Celtics will face off in the Finals for a rematch against Luka Doncic and the Mavericks.

Jayson Tatum has never been short of confidence. Dating back to his rise at Duke, the basketball star has always had the utmost faith in his status as one of the best players in the world. Coming off this summer, however, Tatum has more right than most to speak with little humility.

Last season, with averages of 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game on 47.1% shooting, Tatum led the Celtics to the best record in the league and built a historic lead over the rest of the Eastern Conference. He followed it up with a dominant playoff run, leading the Celtics to their first NBA championship since 2008.

To top it all off, Tatum suited up for Team USA this summer en route to winning the gold medal. While his playing time was limited, Tatum made an impact on the floor and he will be among the favorites to get an invite to the next Olympic tournament in Los Angeles 2028.

As the cover athlete for NBA 2K and the recipient of a brand-new five-year, $315 million extension, Tatum has plenty of reasons to feel good about his future and he is justified to be confident in his ability to continue this stretch of greatness.

Heading into this next season, Tatum is poised to begin his prime at 26 years old and what we see from him over these next few years could be the best games we’ve ever seen him play. As a 5x All-Star, 4x All-NBA athlete, and reigning NBA champion, Tatum is undoubtedly one of the NBA elites and he will be in the MVP conversation for years to come, just like he was last season when he finished 6th in voting.

As for the Celtics’ title aspirations, there’s no reason they shouldn’t be the favorites going into next season. With mostly the same roster committed to return, the Celtics still have one the strongest rotations in the league with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and Derrick White.

With those guys, there’s no reason the Celtics shouldn’t be able to maintain their pace as the best offense in the game. If they can also pick up on their defense, it could result in an even better campaign than the one they just had.

For Tatum to win MVP, his team will have to achieve a similar level of success but even that may not be enough. With stars such as Luka Doncic, Stephen Curry, Joel Embiid, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, many candidates will be worthy of MVP honors and Tatum will have to give the voters a reason to pick him over any of the others.

Still, Tatum seems confident that he can set himself apart and have his best season yet as a pro. For his sake, he better prove himself right or the haters will respond in full force.

Jayson Tatum is an NBA champion, a five-time All-Star, and a four-time All-NBA selection. The Boston Celtics star is among the top players in the league, but the MVP award still eludes him as he prepares for his eighth season.

Tatum placed sixth in NBA MVP voting last season, fourth in 2023, and sixth in 2022. He’ll almost certainly be in the mix again next spring if he stays healthy, but he still isn’t concerned about individual accolades after leading Boston to Banner 18.

In a conversation with Bobby Krivitsky of Sports Illustrated, Tatum was asked about balancing his MVP aspirations with another run at a title.

“Yeah, winning takes precedence over everything,” Tatum answered. “Winning a championship is the most important. Playing the right way. But it’s been done. It’s possible. You can play the right way, you can dominate the game, you can strive for a championship, and be an MVP of the league. So, you don’t have to sacrifice one for the other. You can do both.”

Both the MVP award and the 2025 NBA title should be in play for Tatum. The 26-year-old is in the prime of his illustrious career and is the unquestioned leader of the overwhelming championship favorite. As great as he was in 2023-24, there’s reason to believe he can be even better on the quest for a repeat.

Tatum may also be entering the new season with a chip on his shoulder. He was named to Team USA’s 2024 Olympics roster unlike his C’s teammate Jaylen Brown, but was mysteriously benched in two of the six games by head coach Steve Kerr. Although he earned a gold medal, he admitted having to sit out was a “challenging” experience.

Nonetheless, he’ll shift his focus to Banner 19 when Celtics training camp begins later this month. Boston will begin preseason play with two games against the Denver Nuggets in Abu Dhabi on Oct. 4 and 6. Its regular-season opener is set for Oct. 22 vs. the New York Knicks at TD Garden.

Taylor Swift is in a celebratory mood!

The pop star, 34, appeared to be in high spirits after watching her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his team the Kansas City Chiefs win their season-opener on Thursday, Sept. 5.

In a Instagram Story video reposted on X (formerly known as Twitter) the “August” singer was seen talking about the game to Chariah Gordon, the fiancée of Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman Jr.

In the footage, Swift can be seen asking Gordon, “How are you feeling after this victory?” following the Chiefs’ 27-20 win at Arrowhead Stadium.

“I am feeling great after this victory, how are you feeling, sissy pop?” Gordon said.

“I’m feeling fantastic!” Swift replied, prompting Gordon to start cheering and dancing on camera. Swift could then be seen joining her and jumping up and down excitedly in the background.

Swift is on a break following the conclusion of the European leg of her Eras Tour in mid-August, after playing a second set of shows at Wembley Stadium in London. Her tour is scheduled to pick back up mid-October in Miami.

The Chief tight end previously supported the singer on tour, making an appearance at several of her concerts over the past few months. He even joined her onstage during her June 23 show at London’s Wembley Stadium.

It appears that she’s just as supportive of his career, as he recently shared on the Rich Eisen Show that the musician “creates plays for me,” adding, “We’ll see if they can make it to Coach [Andy] Reid’s office.”

“She had just been so open to learning the game, she didn’t know much about the rules or anything … I think she was just curious about the profession,” he continued. “I know none of the plays have gotten to Coach Reid yet, but if they ever do I’ll make sure everyone knows it was her creation.”

King Charles issues heartfelt health update amid cancer treatment

King Charles has had one of his most, if not the most, challenging years of his life. In early February, it was announced that he had an unspecified form of cancer and so he left his royal duties until late April to receive treatment and recover.

At the time of writing, King Charles seems to be back on track. However, his wife, Queen Camilla, is said to regularly be fighting a battle with him to prevent him from coming back and working too hard, too fast. Soon, the king and queen will embark on their first major overseas trip with a tour to Australia and Samoa in October, providing he doesn’t suffer any significant health setbacks.

King Charles has actually been consistent with handing out – albeit minor – information regarding his health, but lately, things have been rather quiet. However, on Wednesday, Charles finally broke his silence with another heartfelt update.

On February 5, Buckingham Palace revealed the shock news that King Charles had been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer.

“The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible,” the statement from Buckingham Palace read.

    King Charles – cancer

“His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”

Charles’ decision to reveal his cancer diagnosis may have saved lives. As reported by the Associated Press, Cancer Research UK recorded a 33% increase in visits to its website as people searched for information regarding the signs and symptoms of cancer.

“I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days,” Charles said in a statement some days after the first update on his health.

“As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.”

“It is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organisations which support cancer patients and their families across the UK and wider world,” Charles added.
    Euan Cherry/Getty Images
My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience.”

Queen Camilla was ‘against’ King Charles disclosing his cancer diagnosis, expert claims

The last few months have been naturally challenging for the king. Although we don’t know any specific details regarding his cancer diagnosis, the monarch stayed out of the spotlight for months as he receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, his wife, Queen Camilla, took on the huge responsibility of filling in for Charles while he wasn’t fit. Though the Royal Family has been a united front, behind the scenes, King Charles and Queen Camilla reportedly had quite the argument when her husband found out about his diagnosis.

Although Charles wanted to – and later decided to – share his cancer diagnosis publicly, but a new bombshell claim reveals that not everyone in his close circle believed it to be a good idea. Robert Jobson, author of the 2023 book Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed, claimed to The Independent that Queen Camilla initially opposed the decision to disclose Charles’ condition.

“Queen Camilla had initially been against disclosing his condition, but the King overruled her, as he felt it was a chance to take a lead, and in doing so to encourage men experiencing similar symptoms to seek timely medical attention,” Jobson said.

The author continued by claiming that the monarch overruled his wife, feeling that he could ‘take the lead’ in encouraging other men who experienced similar symptoms to seek medical attention before it was too late.

Reports of an ‘ongoing battle’ between Queen Camilla and King Charles

“There was a significant increase in searches related to enlarged prostate on the National Health Service website following the monarch’s revelation. The NHS England page on benign prostate enlargement had more than 26,000 visits in the 48 hours after the announcement, compared to a daily average of just 1,400,” Jobson continued.

“He was lauded for doing so, with commentators saying he had ushered in a new era of transparency in matters of health and the Royal Family,” Jobson added.

Although King Charles and Queen Camilla have made it through this very challenging time together, there have been reports of an ‘ongoing battle’ between them.

Despite being diagnosed with a form of cancer earlier this year, Charles continues to perform a packed schedule of royal engagements. A friend of Queen Camilla’s claimed that she is “deeply unhappy” with her husband’s busy schedule and instead wants him to focus on recovering.

“Camilla would have been deeply unhappy that having only begun his holiday on Monday, he broke it off on Tuesday to do an incredibly intense engagement,” the friend told the Daily Beast.
Gareth Fuller – WPA Pool/Getty Images

“Of course, she understands it was very important, and there is no way she would try to tell Charles what to do, but it seems to be extraordinary timing. She wants him to slow down, she is afraid he is working too hard, and that’s before you even get to the Australia tour.”

King Charles shares heartfelt health update

Another friend said: “She has been trying to encourage him to slow down. Of course, he wants to keep cracking on, but she is afraid that doing too much could set him back.”

To everybody’s joy, today King Charles has returned to performing his royal duties. The king and queen have often appeared together since his cancer was revealed and on Wednesday the monarch hosted an event at Buckingham Palace, meeting with New Zealand’s women’s rugby union team.

Just as for Kate Middleton’s cancer and previous abdominal surgery, official updates from the Palace have been very few. However, when King Charles hosted the event at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, he briefly mentioned his health. The monarch explained to the players that he won’t be able to travel to their country during the upcoming tour to Oceania because of the “doctor’s orders.”

“I am extremely sorry I can’t come to New Zealand in later October because of doctor’s orders. But I hope there will be another excuse before too long,” Charles said, as per the Express.

“But in the meantime, give my love to New Zealand, please, and New Zealanders, we get lots of nice Kiwi coming here in this part of the world as well, so we are very lucky indeed.”
    Chris Jackson/Getty Images

King Charles added: “And I hope you make the most of your time in the team because you don’t stay young for very long, as I discovered, it all goes quicker than you think.”

King Charles & Queen Camilla set for overseas trip

The October trip to Australia and Samoa will be King Charles’ first major overseas trip as king. Just a short while ago, Buckingham Palace revealed details about the tour, and it’s easy to say it will be a packed number of days

“Their Majesties, The King and Queen, will undertake an Autumn tour from Friday 18th to Saturday 26th October 2024,” a Palace spokesperson said. “This will include a royal visit to Australia, State Visit to the Independent State of Samoa and attendance at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2024.” The program will be structured around celebrating the host countries as well as reflecting the King and Queen’s interests and work.

“The King, who has this year been receiving treatment for cancer, will meet Professor Georgina Long and Professor Richard Scoyler, both Australians of the Year, and will hear about the work they do to help those affected by melanoma, one of Australia’s most common cancers.”
    Max Mumby/Indigo/Getty Images
While a major overseas tour includes a packet schedule each and every day, this time, there will be some significant differences.

    “Adaptions have been made”

The monarch will face “very clear adaptations,” which will be a “big contrast” compared to when his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, visited Australia,” according to royal expert Cameron Walker.

“The late Queen Elizabeth visited every state of Australia, every territory including seven capital cities and 70 towns in 58 days,” Walker told GB News. “In contrast, the King is going to be spending, we understand, less than a week in Australia and he’s only going to be visiting Sydney and Canberra.”

Cameron continued: “As we knew, doctors had given the King the green light to travel. It is going to be the first long-haul travel the King has done since his cancer diagnosis. But it’s very clear from the information I’ve received this afternoon that adaptions have been made. For example, New Zealand originally was on the agenda for the King and Queen to travel to – that has now been ruled out on doctor’s advice.”

“Because he’s been mindful that he’s undergoing cancer treatments, he’s also going to be spending some time at an engagement to do with melanoma and cancer treatment,” the royal expert added.

Justice Carl Irace told Timberlake’s lawyer to “be more mindful when giving comments” when the pop star appeared virtually in court on Aug. 2.

A judge admonished Justin Timberlake’s attorney for his previous statements to the media during the pop star’s virtual court appearance on Friday.

The “Selfish” singer, 43, appeared in court virtually from Antwerp, Belgium on Friday, Aug, 2, and pleaded not guilty to a revised misdemeanor charge of driving drunk following his June DWI arrest, PEOPLE confirmed.

During the proceedings — which resulted in Timberlake’s driving privileges in New York being revoked —  Sag Harbor Village Justice Carl Irace warned the “No Angels” singer’s lawyer Edward Burke Jr. against continuing to speak to the press at length.

Irace told Burke to “be more mindful when giving comments” to the media and added that he finds the statements Burke has been giving “come off as an attempt to poison the case before it even begins.”

The judge warned that if Burke continues to make such comments, Irace will implement a gag order on the case and require Timberlake to appear in court in person, although the pop star is currently on the European leg of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour.

Also during the hearing, Burke also withdrew the motion he put forth last week to dismiss the case.

The next hearing is scheduled for Aug. 9, followed by a tentative court date of Sept. 13 depending on next week’s proceedings.

Timberlake’s one-count DWI charge also included a citation for running a stop sign and a citation for failing to keep in lane.

During Timberlake’s last court hearing on Friday, July 26, Burke said Timberlake was “not intoxicated” when he was arrested in Sag Harbor, N.Y. on June 18.

“I’ll say it again. Justin Timberlake was not intoxicated. And we are very confident that charge — that criminal charge — will be dismissed,” he said, per WABC.

“The most important fact to know about this case is that Justin was not intoxicated and should not have been arrested for DWI,” Burke shared in a statement with PEOPLE following the July 26 appearance.

“The police made a number of very significant errors in this case. In court today, you heard the district attorney try to fix one of those errors. But that’s just one and there are many others. Sometimes the police make mistakes and this is just one of those instances.”

“Justin respects law enforcement and the very important job that they do. He cooperated with the police officers at all times and treated them with the respect they deserve. He also respects the entire judicial process including the District Attorney and Judge who were in court today. But the fact remains, he was not intoxicated and they made an error in arresting him for it. We are confident that this charge will be dismissed,” Burke added at the time.

Sag Harbor Police told PEOPLE in June that on the night of his arrest, the pop star allegedly failed “to stop at a duly posted stop sign” and “maintain” his vehicle’s “lane of travel” while driving a 2025 BMW.

Timberlake was held overnight and arraigned at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court before being “released on his own recognizance,” authorities said in June.

“REVEALING THE LEGEND” Sinner Shared His Surprise When He Met The Tennis Legend, Djokovic, And Learned That He Had A Quality That Many People Would Be Shocked To Know

Jannik Sinner, one of tennis’ rising stars, recently opened up about a surprising encounter with the legendary Novak Djokovic that left him in awe. Sinner, known for his composure and raw talent on the court, shared a candid moment that revealed a quality about Djokovic that might surprise even his most dedicated fans.

In an interview, Sinner reflected on a memorable meeting with Djokovic during a tournament. While many expected the conversation to be purely about tennis strategy or competitive intensity, Sinner was taken aback by a completely different side of the 24-time Grand Slam champion.

Sinner shared, “When I first met Novak, I expected him to be focused and intense, given his reputation. But what really shocked me was his humility and genuine kindness off the court. It’s not something you expect from someone who’s dominated the sport for so long.”

While Djokovic is widely regarded as one of the most intense and determined athletes in tennis history, Sinner discovered that behind the fierce competitor lies a deeply humble individual. Djokovic’s ability to balance his unwavering determination on the court with his down-to-earth nature in personal interactions caught Sinner off guard.

“He spoke to me as if we were equals, despite all his achievements,” Sinner said, emphasizing Djokovic’s willingness to mentor and guide younger players. “He has this ability to put you at ease, and I think that’s something people don’t see when they’re only focused on his tennis career.”

For Jannik Sinner, the meeting had a lasting impact. Learning that someone as accomplished as Djokovic could remain grounded and supportive of younger talent was an eye-opener. It also inspired Sinner to adopt a similar mindset as he continues to rise through the ranks of professional tennis.

“It taught me that true greatness isn’t just about winning titles, but about how you treat others and remain true to yourself,” Sinner reflected.

While fans and opponents are used to seeing Djokovic’s fiery, competitive side during matches, Sinner’s story sheds light on the human aspect of the legend that often goes unnoticed. Despite his intense drive for victory, Djokovic’s humility and willingness to connect with other players off the court show that even legends can be approachable and empathetic.

This revelation from Sinner adds yet another layer to Djokovic’s complex and multifaceted personality, reminding the world that even the greatest athletes possess qualities that extend beyond their sport.

As Sinner continues his rise in tennis, he carries with him the lesson learned from his encounter with Djokovic: that true greatness lies not only in accomplishments but also in character.
