Exclusive: Caitlin Clark Opens Up To Kelce Brothers About Fame At A Young Age For The First Time

Caitlin Clark is getting real about the ups and downs of being a basketball star at a young age on the latest episode of New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce.

Women’s Health can exclusively reveal that Caitlin will guest on the January 2 episode of the show, hosted by NFL stars and brothers Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce. In a first-look clip from the episode, which you can watch above, the Indiana Fever guard opens up about getting her first recruitment letters from colleges as early as seventh grade.

Travis refers to that as “insane,” and Caitlin agrees that the college recruitment process has gotten out of hand. She credits her parents, Brent and Anne, for keeping her grounded.

“I feel very fortunate,” Caitlin says, explaining that her parents would ask her brother to pick up the mail so that she wasn’t bothered by recruitment letters. “They wanted me to be in seventh grade and enjoy middle school and hang out with [my] friends. Like, you shouldn’t be worrying about where you’re going to college.”

The five-star recruit didn’t take any college visits until after her freshman year, and didn’t decide she would attend the University of Iowa until her senior year. “I was never in a rush,” she says. “My parents did a really good job of making sure I have a good circle around me. It wasn’t always about college recruitment.”

Even as a kid, Caitlin’s talent was undeniable: As a middle schooler, she was playing with high schoolers. “I didn’t really think anything of it,” she says. “I was just going out there and hooping and having fun and it’s kind of just what came with it.” In the years to follow, she’d become the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer and the WNBA Rookie of the Year, breaking both the assists record and rookie scoring record.

Back in April at the WNBA Draft, Caitlin told WH she found therapy and working with sports psychologists “super helpful” as she rose to fame at Iowa. “It’s such a stressful period of your life,” she said. “You’re 18 to 22 years old and trying to figure out which way your life’s going to go while so many eyeballs are on you, and it can be difficult at times.”

She maintained then that her family and friends helped her stay focused on what’s truly important, and she planned to keep it that way as she entered the pros. “I’ve never changed who I am,” she said. “I’m still Caitlin Clark from West Des Moines, Iowa, and that will never change.” As evidenced by her appearance on New Heights, she’s still sticking to that.

    new heights

Caitlin is now the second female to guest on New Heights who isn’t related to the Kelce brothers (the first being Travis’ Grotesquerie co-star Niecy Nash-Betts on October 30). She’s also a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, for which Travis plays tight end. Fans have long speculated that Caitlin would appear on the podcast, since she was spotted chatting with Travis back in November at his girlfriend Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Indianapolis.

The full episode of New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce featuring Caitlin Clark will be available on Thursday, January 2 on Wondery+, YouTube, Amazon Music, and everywhere you get your podcasts. Ad-free listening is available on Wondery+.

Heartbreaking News: Boston Celtics’ power forward Sam Hauser Suspended for Two Years…

The Boston Celtics have announced that power forward Sam Hauser has been suspended for two years, effective immediately. The decision, which comes as a shock to fans and the NBA community, follows an internal investigation by the Celtics organization.

Details surrounding the suspension remain unclear, as both the team and Hauser have yet to release official statements. Speculation is rife about potential violations of team policies or league regulations, but no confirmation has been provided at this time.

Hauser, 26, has been a valuable contributor to the Celtics since joining the team in 2021. Known for his sharp shooting and ability to stretch the floor, Hauser played a key role in the team’s success last season, averaging solid minutes off the bench and providing crucial scoring depth.

Celtics General Manager Brad Stevens briefly addressed the situation during a press conference, stating, “This was a difficult decision for the organization, but it was necessary to uphold our standards. We will support Sam during this time and continue to focus on our goals for the upcoming seasons.”

The suspension leaves the Celtics with a gap in their frontcourt rotation as they continue their push for a championship. The team is expected to explore short-term options to fill the void left by Hauser.

Fans and analysts are now awaiting further details regarding the incident that led to the suspension, as the Celtics and Hauser work toward resolving the matter.

Bill Russell: The First NBA Player to Have His Number Retired Forever – A Legacy That Shattered Boundaries

“Bill Russell: The First NBA Player to Have His Number Retired Forever – A Legacy That Shattered Boundaries”

In the history of sports, few figures have left an impact as profound as Bill Russell. Known as a towering figure both on and off the court, Russell’s legacy as an 11-time NBA champion and a pioneering civil rights activist will now be immortalized in a remarkable way. The NBA has announced that Russell’s iconic number 6 jersey will be retired across the league—marking the first time in NBA history that a player’s number has been universally honored.

The decision to retire Russell’s number reflects the extraordinary breadth of his contributions. As a player, his dominance with the Boston Celtics was unmatched, leading the team to 11 championships in 13 seasons. But Russell’s influence extended far beyond basketball. He was a leader in the fight for racial equality during the Civil Rights Movement, using his platform as a global sports icon to champion justice and equality in a deeply divided America.

    A Symbol of Excellence

Bill Russell’s number 6 has long symbolized excellence. On the court, he redefined the role of a center, excelling not just as a scorer but as an unparalleled defender and rebounder. His battles against legendary players like Wilt Chamberlain became the stuff of basketball folklore, but what set Russell apart was his ability to elevate his teammates. He was the ultimate winner—a player who sacrificed personal accolades to ensure team success.

Yet, Russell’s career wasn’t just about the numbers or trophies. He became the first Black head coach in NBA history when he took over as player-coach for the Celtics in 1966. This groundbreaking achievement underscored his role as a trailblazer, breaking barriers in a league that had only recently integrated.

Retiring his number is more than a tribute to his unparalleled basketball achievements; it is an acknowledgment of what he stood for. The number 6 now becomes a universal symbol of leadership, resilience, and the power of using sports as a platform for social change.

    Honoring His Legacy

The retirement of Russell’s number coincides with additional tributes during the 2022-23 NBA season. All players will wear a commemorative patch on their jerseys, while every court will feature a clover-shaped logo with the No. 6 near the scorer’s table. These gestures ensure that Russell’s presence is felt in every game, serving as a reminder of his contributions to both basketball and society.

Adam Silver, the NBA Commissioner, emphasized that Russell’s legacy transcends the game. “Bill Russell’s unparalleled success on the court and his pioneering civil rights activism deserve to be honored in a unique and historic way,” Silver stated. “Permanently retiring his number ensures that his influence will continue to inspire generations of players and fans.”

For the Boston Celtics, the team where Russell spent his entire career, the tribute carries special weight. While Russell’s number had already been retired by the franchise, this league-wide recognition underscores his importance not only to Boston but to basketball as a whole.

    A Lifelong Fight for Justice

What makes Bill Russell’s legacy so unique is the way he seamlessly blended sports with activism. At a time when athletes were often expected to stay silent on social issues, Russell used his platform fearlessly. He marched alongside Martin Luther King Jr., supported Muhammad Ali’s refusal to fight in the Vietnam War, and stood against racism even when it came at a personal cost.

Russell’s activism wasn’t just symbolic; it was personal. He faced racism in his own backyard, even in Boston, where he delivered championships year after year. Despite his unparalleled contributions to the city, he encountered hostility and prejudice. Yet, Russell never let the hate deter him. Instead, he channeled his energy into fighting for equality, becoming a role model not just for athletes but for anyone striving to make a difference.

His courage and conviction laid the groundwork for future generations of athletes to use their platforms for social good. Players like LeBron James and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar have often cited Russell as a source of inspiration for their activism, showing how his impact continues to ripple through the league and beyond.

    A Legacy That Lives On

With the retirement of his number, Bill Russell’s story will be told to new generations of basketball fans. His name will be invoked not just in discussions about the greatest players but also in conversations about leadership, integrity, and the power of standing up for what’s right.

The NBA’s decision to retire Russell’s number is a poignant reminder that his contributions go far beyond the hardwood. While his 11 championships, five MVP awards, and countless other accolades speak to his greatness as an athlete, his legacy as a human being is what truly sets him apart.

For fans watching an NBA game this season, the sight of the No. 6 on every court and the commemorative patches on every jersey will serve as a subtle but powerful tribute to a man who changed the game—and the world.

Bill Russell’s life was a testament to the idea that sports can be more than just a game. Through his unmatched career and unwavering activism, he proved that basketball could be a force for unity, progress, and change. As his number is retired across the league, Russell’s message remains clear: greatness is not just about winning but about lifting others up along the way.

In honoring Russell, the NBA reminds us all that the true measure of a legacy isn’t just the trophies won but the lives touched. For Bill Russell, that legacy is eternal.

Larry Bird: The Legend Who Played Chess on a Basketball Court

Larry Bird: The Legend Who Played Chess on a Basketball Court

Larry Bird’s career is more than a collection of statistics or championship banners—it’s a tapestry woven with moments that defy belief and showcase unparalleled basketball genius. From his iconic trash talk to his fearless performances in clutch moments, Bird didn’t just play the game; he elevated it to an art form.

Bird’s legendary status is rooted in his competitive nature and unshakable confidence. He wasn’t just another player who could score; he was a master of psychological warfare. One of the most famous stories about Bird involves a timeout late in a close game. The Celtics were strategizing for the final possession when Bird interrupted the coach’s play-calling and declared, “Just give me the ball and tell everyone else to get out of the way.” He didn’t just say it—he followed through. As he walked onto the court, Bird told his defender exactly where he would take the shot and how he’d make it. Moments later, he sank the shot, leaving mere seconds on the clock. His nonchalant explanation? “I didn’t mean to leave two seconds on the clock.”

That wasn’t arrogance; it was certainty. Bird’s confidence came from preparation and an almost supernatural understanding of the game. He saw basketball as a chessboard, always thinking several moves ahead. His opponents weren’t just guarding him; they were trying to keep up with his mind. Bird didn’t have the athleticism of Michael Jordan or the size of Shaquille O’Neal, but he possessed an unrivaled basketball IQ that allowed him to dominate even the most athletic defenders.

Trash-talking was a hallmark of Bird’s game, but it wasn’t empty bravado. He backed up every word with his play. Whether telling an opponent he’d score the next shot in their face or declaring to the locker room that he’d play an entire game left-handed just for the challenge, Bird delivered. In one particularly memorable game against the Portland Trail Blazers, Bird casually told reporters he’d shoot left-handed for most of the night—and then proceeded to drop 27 points that way.

Larry Bird wasn’t just a scorer; he was a closer. Time and again, when the Celtics needed him most, he delivered. Whether it was hitting improbable game-winners, leading fourth-quarter comebacks, or dismantling defenses with his pinpoint passing, Bird thrived in the clutch. During one game against the Washington Bullets, Bird sank what would have been the game-winning shot, only for the play to be called back due to a timeout. Undeterred, Bird walked to the huddle and calmly told his teammates he’d hit the same shot again—and he did.

Bird’s rivalry with Magic Johnson defined an era of basketball, but it was rooted in mutual respect. Together, they saved the NBA from irrelevance, transforming it into the global phenomenon it is today. Magic brought Showtime flair; Bird brought blue-collar grit. Their duels in the NBA Finals remain some of the greatest moments in sports history. Yet off the court, their shared love for the game created a bond that transcended their rivalry.

Even in moments of celebration, Bird’s greatness shone through. The first-ever three-point contest during All-Star Weekend became a showcase for Bird’s bravado. As he entered the locker room, he looked around at his competition and said, “I’m just looking to see who’s going to finish second.” Bird won the contest, sinking the final shot with his signature cocky flair and leaving the court with a single hand raised in triumph.

Bird’s genius wasn’t confined to scoring. He was a master passer, a tenacious rebounder, and a fierce defender. His ability to see plays develop before anyone else made him a nightmare for opponents. The iconic “Bird steals the ball!” moment against the Detroit Pistons in the 1987 Eastern Conference Finals exemplified his instincts. In the closing seconds of a crucial game, Bird intercepted an inbound pass and assisted Dennis Johnson for the game-winning layup, leaving the Pistons stunned.

For those who played against him, Bird wasn’t just an opponent; he was an experience. Charles Barkley once said that guarding Bird gave him sleepless nights—not because of Bird’s athleticism, but because of his intelligence. Players knew Bird would do something extraordinary; they just didn’t know what or when.

Larry Bird’s career was a series of jaw-dropping moments that cemented his legacy as one of the greatest to ever play the game. He wasn’t just a basketball player; he was a showman, a tactician, and an artist. Bird didn’t just win games; he created memories that will endure for generations.

When reflecting on his career, it’s not the numbers that stand out—it’s the stories. The shots called and delivered. The defenders humiliated. The games turned on their heads. Larry Bird wasn’t just great because he could score; he was great because he made you believe anything was possible on the basketball court.

In the storied history of the NBA, many players have left indelible marks through remarkable achievements. Jrue Holiday has now etched his name into the annals of basketball greatness with an accomplishment no one else can claim: winning a championship in his first season with two separate franchises while playing a minimum of 30 minutes per game in the playoffs.

Holiday’s first crowning moment came during the 2020-21 season with the Milwaukee Bucks. Joining a team led by two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, Holiday instantly became the missing piece that elevated the Bucks to championship status. Known for his elite defense, unselfish playmaking, and timely scoring, he provided Milwaukee with the balance they needed on both ends of the floor.

Throughout the playoffs, Holiday averaged over 39 minutes per game, delivering consistent performances against some of the league’s toughest competition. His defensive mastery against players like Chris Paul in the Finals became the stuff of legend, while his iconic steal-and-assist sequence to Giannis in Game 5 is one of the most memorable plays in NBA history. The Bucks ultimately defeated the Phoenix Suns in six games, securing Milwaukee’s first championship in 50 years and cementing Holiday’s reputation as a proven winner.

Fast forward to the 2023-24 season, and Holiday found himself in a new city with a new team: the Boston Celtics. Traded to Boston during the offseason, he joined a roster loaded with talent, including Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porziņģis. The Celtics, a team haunted by recent playoff shortcomings, were searching for the final piece to their championship puzzle.

    Image

Holiday wasted no time making his presence felt in Boston. His leadership, both on and off the court, became a stabilizing force for the team. On defense, he took on the toughest assignments, guarding the league’s best guards and wings with his trademark tenacity. On offense, he provided steady playmaking and clutch moments, complementing Tatum and Brown perfectly.

As the playoffs began, Holiday once again stepped up under the brightest lights. Averaging over 36 minutes per game, he was a key factor in Boston’s dominance throughout the postseason. Whether it was shutting down opponents on defense or hitting critical shots, Holiday delivered in every aspect of the game.

In the 2024 NBA Finals, the Celtics faced off against the defending champion Denver Nuggets and their superstar center, Nikola Jokić. Holiday’s experience and composure proved invaluable as he led Boston’s defensive efforts to slow down Denver’s potent offense. In Game 6, with the Celtics holding a slim lead in the closing moments, Holiday delivered a dagger three-pointer that all but sealed Boston’s 18th championship—the most in NBA history.

Holiday’s unique achievement—winning championships in his first season with two franchises—is a testament to his adaptability, unselfishness, and unwavering commitment to team success. Few players possess the ability to step into new environments and make an immediate impact, especially under the immense pressure of championship aspirations.

Jrue Holiday makes history with latest championship

Beyond the numbers and accolades, what makes Jrue Holiday special is his demeanor. He is widely regarded as one of the most respected and humble players in the league, a leader who inspires teammates with his work ethic and character. His ability to thrive in high-pressure situations while maintaining his composure is what sets him apart as a true champion.

As the 2024 offseason unfolds, Holiday’s legacy is secure. He is not just a two-time champion but also a symbol of what it means to be a consummate professional and a selfless teammate. His historic feat will serve as a benchmark for future players and a reminder of how impactful one player can be in transforming a team’s fortunes.

For Jrue Holiday, the journey isn’t over. With the Celtics’ core intact and the hunger for more success burning brighter than ever, he has the opportunity to add even more chapters to his already remarkable story. But for now, the basketball world can pause and celebrate a player whose contributions have redefined what it means to be a championship catalyst.

The country music industry is bringing Alan Jackson his roses in a big way in 2022. He was announced Thursday as this year’s recipient of the Country Music Association’s top lifetime honor, officially dubbed the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award, with a tribute performance set to take place on Nov. 9’s CMA Awards telecast.

The announcement comes on the heels of Jackson having just been given the Artist of a Lifetime Award by CMT on that network’s “CMT Artists of the Year” special Oct. 14.

The tribute performance for Jackson on the CMAs will feature Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, Jon Pardi and Lainey Wilson, the association announced Thursday.

After the award was given to Willie Nelson by the CMA in 2012, it was rebranded as the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award and subsequently given to Kenny Rogers (in 2013), Johnny Cash (2015), Dolly Parton (2016), Kris Kristofferson (2019), Charley Pride (2020) and Loretta Lynn (2021).

The musical salute to Jackson will be one of at least two such homages in the broadcast, as the CMAs already revealed that the show will open with a tribute to Lynn, who died earlier this month.

Jackson has already received what is generally considered country music’s highest honor, a spot in the Country Music Hall of Fame, into which he was inducted back in 2017.

ment. “A three-time CMA Entertainer of the Year, he is responsible for so many iconic moments in CMA Awards history. Just as Alan has been influenced by many country legends throughout his career, he too has inspired a generation of artists to stay true to the authenticity of country music. We are so excited to bring Dierks, Jon, Carrie and Lainey together on the CMA Awards stage for what will surely be an incredible and touching tribute to an artist they each deeply admire. Having had the great fortune of working with Alan over the years, I am delighted we are honoring him with this milestone award next month.”

Jackson is widely revered throughout the country world as one of the so-called new traditionalists who brought familiar country sounds and styles back into the mainstream in the early 1990s and has maintained a focus on those core elements ever since.

Underwood and Wilson had already been announced by the CMAs as getting their own spots elsewhere in the Nov. 9 show. Others revealed as part of an initial rollout of performers this week included Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini, Morgan Wallen, Carly Pearce, the Zac Brown Band, Jimmie Allen, Kelly Clarkson, Hardy and the broadcast’s co-host, Luke Bryan.
The 56th annual edition of the telecast airs on ABC at 8 p.m. ET/PT Nov. 9 from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, with football great Peyton Manning previously announced to emcee the show alongside Bryan.

The new arrival will be the pair’s first child together.

Per Vibe, Leray and Redd briefly dated in 2019. Following their breakup, the “Type Beat” performer appeared to address their relationship in his song “Leray,” with lyrics that include: “When you got with me, you were a genius/ Now without me you have to live life as an idiot.”

In 2020, Leray discussed the track on No Jumper, calling the song “bulls—.”

“At first, no, I didn’t like it. It was very like, what the f—, because I always thought we really had something outside of the music,” she said. “So I’m just like, damn. If you got something to say, let’s get together and you say that s— to my face….”

The pair appeared to rekindle their romance in August 2024 when Leray posted a video call between her and Redd on X (formerly Twitter). “Sleeping on FaceTime, waking up on FaceTime,” she wrote in one post.

According to Vibe, she also shared a now-deleted screengrab of a video call with Redd, revealing their love of Minions.

Redd later confirmed to TMZ in September 2024 that he and Leray were dating again and he slid into her DMs in hopes of giving their romance a second chance.
