Justin Timberlake can’t stop the wheeling.

The “Mirrors” singer took part in a “bike bus” with Sam Balto, the co-founder of Bike Bus and other bikers in Portland, Ore. for a ride on a rainy day.

“BIKE BUS! Thank you @coachbalto for letting me and @thetnkids join your morning ride yesterday,” the Instagram Reel from Monday, Jan. 13 read. “You’re bringing joy to a lot of people out here 🫶🏻 @bikebusworld”

Timberlake, 43, was joined by his tour family for the ride, which had dozens of children and adults participating. In the clip, Balto mentioned that the Bike Bus takes place “rain or shine.”

Balto, in turn, thanked Timberlake for participating in the eco-friendly initiative. “Thank you @justintimberlake & @thetnkids for joining the #BikeBus in Portland!!! The bike bus movement is on a mission to get more children & families biking to school! Learn more at BikeBusWorld.org @bikebusworld.”

A TikTok Balto posted gave another look at the Portland Bike Bus, where “Can’t Stop The Feeling” played while participants biked and the community lined the streets in support. In the caption, he shouted out those who packed the “absolutely incredible day with so much joy & excitement.”

Timberlake was initially invited to participate in a Bike Bus event in October and was able to join on Sunday, Jan. 12, as per Portland’s CBS affiliate station KOIN.

He spoke about his Bike Bus experience during his Jan. 13 Portland concert, saying he had the “privilege” to join Balto and his team.

“What you’re doing here in your local community [is] inspiring people, doing good things, inspiring young minds,” he told the Forget Tomorrow World Tour crowd, before adding: “Let’s do it again.”

Bike Bus is “on a mission to transform the wellbeing of children, communities, and our climate, through biking together to school,” as per their website.

“Our organization helps communities launch their own Bike Buses to school. We do this by providing organizers with the tools and guidance to create bike buses, helping them advocate for active transportation infrastructure and policy, as well as securing funding both locally and nationally.”

Balto told PEOPLE in 2024 about Bike Bus, explaining that he started it on Earth Day in 2022. “It was a way to get my students active, reduce car trips of students being driven to the school and have fun on bikes.”

As his social media accounts dedicated to the eco-friendly rides, so did the participants. “The numbers vary between 50 to 150 students with tons of parents also joining,” he added.

“he more people who bike together the safer it becomes, there is a wonderful safety in numbers.”

Justin Timberlake just announced some news that may tear up some hearts.

The 43-year-old said he is canceling another show on his Forget Tomorrow World Tour due to an injury.

“I’m so sorry Oklahoma City…I have to cancel the show on 12/2,” Timberlake wrote on his Instagram Stories Nov. 30. “I hurt my back in NOLA and my doctors have instructed me to rest a little bit longer.”

The “Cry Me a River” singer, who is on a weeklong hiatus from his tour after last performing Nov. 25 in New Orleans, added, “Thank you for your support—ya’ll know I hate doing this.”

Timberlake began his tour in April and has so far canceled one other concert—that was originally scheduled to take place in Columbia, S.C. in June—and postponed several dates.

One of them, a Newark, New Jersey show, was pushed back a week in October due to what he described as “an injury that is preventing me from performing,” while a few more from the fall were later moved to February after Timberlake contracted bronchitis and laryngitis.

Justin Timberlake Shares Update Days After Suffering Injury and Canceling Show

Timberlake’s tour did not, however, appear to be affected by his highly publicized arrest this past June. The singer was detained on suspicion of driving while intoxicated on Long Island, New York while he was on a previous weeklong break from performing and returned to the stage, in Chicago, days after he was released from policy custody.

“We’ve been together through ups and downs and lefts and rights, and it’s been a tough week,” Timberlake told the crowd at United Center June 21, “but you’re here, and I’m here, and nothing can change this moment right now.”

The Grammy winner continued, “I know sometimes I’m hard to love, but you keep on loving me and I love you right back. Thank you so much.”

The “Suit & Tie” singer later pleaded guilty to a non-criminal traffic violation after reaching a plea deal and agreed to pay a minimal fine and complete 25 to 40 hours of community service.

During his tour, which is set to continue through July 2025, Timberlake’s family, wife Jessica Biel and their sons Silas, 9, and Phineas, 4, have cheered him on at several shows.

“It’s also a very special evening for me,” the “Can’t Stop This Feeling” singer told the crowd at the Bell Centre in Montreal as the 7th Heaven alum watched him from near the stage. “My wife is here tonight. And tonight is our 12-year anniversary.”

After blowing her a kiss, Timberlake continued, “So be nice to her, Montreal, because she’s sharing me with all of you guys tonight.”

He later put his hand on his heart and told his wife, “I love you, baby.”

 Green Day, Justin Timberlake and Noah Kahan have been announced to headline the popular North Bay music festival, BottleRock.

Other heavy hitters include Ice Cube, Flo Rida, Benson Boone, Cage The Elephant and Vallejo’s own E-40. Bands and artists, such as Beach Bunny, Public Enemy, 4 Non Blondes and Remy Wolf, will also hit the stage.

The festival is scheduled at the Napa Valley Expo from May 23 to May 25.

The festival offers experiences for everyone. For foodies, BottleRock will have a Williams Sonoma Culinary Stage that features chefs and celebrities for culinary showcasing and a “culinary garden” with diverse food trucks.

Singing on the Porter Wagoner Show might have been the first “official” big break of Dolly Parton’s career, but the groundwork for her decades-long tenure as one of the world’s most beloved and recognized country stars of all time was being laid years before she ever stepped foot on Wagoner’s sound stage. Indeed, before there was Porter—and Dolly—there was Avie Lee.

Avie Lee Owens raised Parton and her ten siblings (one sibling tragically died in infancy) in a one-room cabin in the Appalachian mountains of east Tennessee. In that cramped abode, Owens engaged in a daily habit that instilled in her children a love of music that spanned centuries and entire oceans.

Dolly Parton’s Career Started With Sad Songs In Childhood

When it comes to sad songs about death, lost love, violent crimes, and nature, it doesn’t get much better than traditional Appalachian folk songs. These ballads and odes made their way to the eastern U.S. mountain range from Northern England and Scotland when settlers first arrived in the area in the 17th and 18th centuries. Fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and guitar have all been popular accompanying instruments in this musical tradition. However, the purest way to perform these songs is a capella.

This was the preferred delivery of Dolly Parton’s mother, Avie Lee Owens, who often sang various Appalachian folk tunes to her children. “My mama knew all the old songs brought over from the Old World,” the country star recalled in a 2025 Southern Living cover story.

“She would cry, and we would love it. We’d say, “Mama, tell us again about that girl who loved that boy.’” Notable songs in Owens’ repertoire included “Knoxville Girl,” “Down in the Willow Garden,” and “Bury Me Under the Weeping Willow Tree.” The first two songs are about a narrator killing his one true love. The third is about a woman whose unrequited love compels her to commit suicide.

These songs are hardly what one would consider upbeat musical fare, but for Parton and her many siblings, it was the soundtrack to their childhood in the best way. “Mama was a good singer,” Parton remembered in a 2020 interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. “She would just sing a capella all the time, and so many of those songs were sad. As I say, some of them just plumb pitiful. We used to cry when we’d sing them. Mama would cry, we’d cry. Those old songs were just amazing.”

A Sincere Songwriter Since Childhood

While it’s hard to imagine Dolly Parton anywhere but center stage, she didn’t move to Nashville to become a star. Her main focus was songwriting, and that pursuit came above all else, her own ego included. During her 2020 appearance on The Late Show, she recalled a time when Emmylou Harris implored Parton to give her a song the “Jolene” singer had originally intended to record. Parton eventually agreed and allowed Harris to record it, creating a massive riff between Parton and her then-colleague Porter Wagoner. “That’s when I really knew for sure that I was sincere as a songwriter and that it meant more to me to have someone sing a song that I had written than it was for me to have a record out on that song,” Parton said.

Throughout her prolific career, Parton estimates she’s written upwards of 3,000 songs. She began honing her songwriting chops as a little girl in East Tennessee. “When I was 5 or 6, I wrote a song about a corncob doll,” Parton told Southern Living in January 2025. “Mama wrote it down. She had a trunk full of them. It’s all sacred to me.” The deep connection Parton had to her mother both emotionally and musically makes this touching performance of Parton and her family on the Dolly variety show all the more touching.

The couple’s love began to blossom after meeting through mutual friends in Nashville. In 2023, they made their red carpet debut at the ACM Awards, letting the world know that Lainey Wilson is officially off the market.

At the start of their relationship, Hodges, who now works in real estate, was a player for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the “4x4xU” singer was just starting to see her career take off. “We met at a time where he was still playing with them, but then it all changed,” Wilson recalled in a previous interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1. “So it was weird. It was like his life was changing as my life was changing and we were going different directions….”

The radio host pointed out that this must have been “a great test” for the couple’s relationship.

“Yeah, it was wild,” Wilson replied. “You would think that somebody couldn’t handle that.”

The Louisiana native admitted that trying to balance a love life with her fast-paced lifestyle has had its challenges, but somehow feels “easy” at the same time. She also credited Hodges’ unwavering support throughout her “Whirlwind” of a career for playing a big role in their ability to maintain a happy and healthy relationship.

“I finally found a guy that gives me a run for my money,” she explained. “And he’s my biggest cheerleader. He’s just a good person. And he knows how important chasing down a dream is because even when he was a little boy, football was his life.”

“I mean, it’s not normal,” she added. “We don’t get to see each other as often as some couples do, but we also know that have is very special.”
