Bon Jovi‘s Richie Sambora has opened up about his decision to leave the band after 30 years.

The guitarist quit the New Jersey band led by Jon Bon Jovi in 2013 in order to spend more time with his daughter Ava, now 24, his child from his marriage to actor Heather Locklear.

Speaking in a new interview, Sambora talked about his unpopular decision to walk away from Bon Jovi because he was needed at home to deal with some personal issues.

“It wasn’t a popular decision by any means, obviously, but there was really almost no choice about it,” he told People. “I had a lot of conscious work to do around (my personal life).

“We’ve been through a lot of things together. That was a time of psychological maintenance for the family. You know, I ain’t no angel. But I realised, Ava needed me to be around at that point in time. Family had to come first, and that’s what happened.”

Sambora said he was lucky enough to have a private plane that would fly him back home whenever Ava needed him when he was on the road.

“Luckily I was making enough money to be able to have a private plane…and see my kid even if it was only for one day. If it was Halloween, it was boom, home.”

Speaking in an interview back in September, Jon Bon Jovi talked about the pain he felt after Sambora left the band.

“The departure of Richie, the booze and the drugs and that stuff, it broke my heart” he told The Times. “I got through it with a lot of help, talking to people, reading books, and time. Time heals that kind of disappointment.”

The country music star, 39, surprised the audience at the popular country music festival when she brought the Canadian singer up on stage at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium to sing two songs with her on Friday evening.

In a video from the moment posted up on social media, Lambert, who wore a long-sleeved black shirt and a skirt with bright pink fringe, could be seen walking across the stage to a drum beat while making the introduction.

“I’m out here to make more badass moments happen right now. Will y’all welcome my new bestie, Ms. Avril Lavigne to the stage?” she asked the audience.

The punk rock star, who matched Lambert with a black leather jacket with neon pink and black fringe and matching pink and black pleated skirt, threw up a rocker symbol with her hands as she entered the stage before waving to the crowd.

The pair then began their rendition of Lambert country rock single “Kerosene,” singing a chorus line and verse, before the song transformed into the pop strings of Lavigne’s “Sk8er Boi.”

The crowd cheered at the transition before Lavigne started singing along to her hit single. Lambert joined in on singing the chorus, and the pair rocked along while jumping up and down to the beat.

Several of country music’s biggest and brightest stars are taking part in the four-day event — which is celebrating its 50th anniversary — across different venues in Nashville from June 8-11. The event is hosted by King Dierks Bentley and Wilson this year.

The CMA Fest special, showcasing the festival, is set to air on July 19.

It’s not been up to three days since the couple’s newest addition was born, but the NFL star is already fielding questions about adding to the brood.

Patrick’s newborn daughter said hello to the world six days before he and his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, begin their playoffs journey, but he trusts his supportive wife to take care of things at home while he handles business on the football field.

Patrick Mahomes Is ‘Good With Three’ Kids For Now

After welcoming his third child recently, one of the questions Patrick had to answer was if he and Brittany were planning to have a fourth child.

In response, Patrick said, per E! News, “I’m good with three for right now.”

However, the Chiefs quarterback, who also shares daughter Sterling Skye, 3, and son Patrick “Bronze,” 2, with Brittany, didn’t entirely rule out the possibility of having another child.

He said, “We’ll see down the line, maybe. But my goal was always three. So, we’ve had three. And we’ll stick there for a while and see if we need to come back and get another one later on.”

The 28-year-old athlete opened up about his family’s dynamics since Golden’s birth.

He explained, “It’s cool to welcome another baby girl in our family and see how my other kids react to her. Having baby sissy and stuff like that—it’s been a lot of fun.”

Patrick also discussed how he plans to combine being a father of three with being effective for his team as they begin their NFL playoffs campaign on January 18 against the Houston Texans.

He expressed gratitude to Brittany, who has been hugely supportive and helped him manage being a dad and a great player.

Patrick said, “Brittany’s doing everything, so I’m just trying to be supportive.”

Patrick is set for a busy schedule ahead with the Kansas City Chiefs set for playoffs action. However, he was free from football duties when Golden was born and witnessed it.

The football star enjoyed the experience and was thankful for it.

He said, “It’s a special moment that I know a lot of dads and moms have experienced. And you don’t forget about that stuff.”

The proud dad added, “So, I’m glad I was able to be there and support in the best way I can.”

Patrick And Brittany Welcome Third Child

Patrick and Brittany announced Golden’s birth via a joint Instagram post on Monday.

The couple shared a picture of their hands cradling their newborn daughter’s feet and her name written on a circular platform.

They captioned the post, “Golden Raye Mahomes. 1/12/2025.”

Many of the couple’s friends and fans liked their post and commented with congratulatory messages.

Brittany and Patrick announced they were expecting a third child in July 2024 via an Instagram post featuring Sterling and Bronze. They revealed their baby’s gender a few days later, again helped by their kids.

Brittany’s Love For Motherhood

Although Patrick is good with three children, chances are that his wife wouldn’t mind having a fourth child.

The personal trainer has never hidden her love for children and spoke about it during a March 2024 interview with She Knows.

Brittany told the outlet, “I think I’ve been called to be a mom ever since I was little. Just seeing my kids grow up and the things they’re learning and the things they’re taking from their dad.”

She added, “When we have first experiences with them, taking them somewhere, seeing them happy and lit up and in good spirits when we do stuff, is probably the biggest thing that I enjoy.”

Brittany and Patrick have been together since high school and continue to go strong as a couple. The NFL player has always shared how grateful he is to have his wife by his side.

In a May 2024 appearance on the “Impaulsive” podcast, Patrick called Brittany a “Hall of Fame mom and a Hall of Fame wife” and thanked her for “taking care of the day-to-day stuff” while he focuses on football.
