Serena Williams comes to Taylor Swift’s defense as Super Bowl LIX crowd boos pop star

Swift was in a suite watching the game

Taylor Swift heard Philadelphia Eagles fans loud and clear on Sunday during Super Bowl LIX.

A chorus of boos was directed toward the pop star at the Caesars Superdome as the Eagles took on, and eventually defeated, the Kansas City Chiefs. Swift appeared to be stunned by the boos birds, according to multiple social media videos.

Serena Williams at the halftime show

Swift did find a defender during the game – in Serena Williams. The tennis legend directed a post toward Swift.

“I love you @taylorswift13 dont listen to those booo!!” she wrote.

Unfortunately for Swift, she sat and watched the Chiefs get their doors blown off in a 40-22 rout from the Eagles. Her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, had four catches for 39 yards. It was far from enough to stymie the intense Eagles defense that plagued Kansas City all night long.

Williams, at least, was able to make a guest appearance in Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show.

Swift faced more ridicule after the loss from President Donald Trump, who attended the game, becoming the first sitting president to do so.

“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!” Trump wrote.

The Chiefs will have to regroup in the offseason to make another Super Bowl run.

  • Jelly Roll ‘Sobbed in the Parking Lot’ After Finding Note Left on His Truck

Jelly Roll ‘Sobbed in the Parking Lot’ After Finding Note Left on His Truck

Country star Jelly Roll is known for wearing his heart on his sleeve, sometimes moved to tears when fans say he’s inspired them to better their lives. That was the case when the newly-appointed artist-in-residence at “American Idol” discovered a meaningful note left on his truck four years ago, he told John Cena on his new Roku show, “What Drives You,” in late January 2025.

Why Jelly Roll Sobbed Over Anonymous Note Left on His Truck - EntertainmentNow

Pointing out the Post-It note that still sits on the dashboard of his Ram 1500 Laramie, Jelly Roll asked Cena to read the note aloud.

“Your music saved my best friend’s life,” Cena read. “Thank you for being unapologetically you and doing what you do. -A.”

When Cena asked who the note was from, Jelly Roll told him, “You know, the cool thing is I don’t know. They left this note on my window four years ago and I sobbed in the parking lot reading this note.”

Jelly Roll Says He Hopes to Be a Voice for Those Who’ve Never Had Anyone

During his episode of “What Drives You,” Jelly Roll and Cena had a heartfelt discussion about his passions and the sense of purpose he’s gained since transforming his life. Once drowning in a shadow world of drugs and crime, Jelly Roll was in and out of prison from ages 14 to 24, he told CBS Sunday Morning.

Now 40, and with two 2025 Grammy nominations under his belt, Jelly Roll told Cena that messages like the anonymous one he found stuck to his truck in 2020 — the same year his song “Save Me” became his first huge hit — tell him his messages of hope are getting through.

“Knowing that I am able to be a voice for a group of people that have not had a voice for them, probably ever,” he told Cena, “I just want to make sure that I’m giving these people exactly what they need.”

Jelly Roll took Cena on a ride in his “dream truck,” a Father’s Day gift from his daughter Bailee and his wife Alyssa “BunnieXO” DeFord in 2019. When they first met, he told Cena, he had a truck he’d put 200,000 miles on, so it was incredibly meaningful to receive — and for their family to afford — the fully-customized Ram 1500 Laramie.

“So this was my daily driver forever,” he told Cena, recalling how his wife and daughter surprised him at the recording studio with it. “She customized every piece on this, blacked it out, jacked it up. Dude, she made it my dream truck.”

Jelly Roll Says He Doesn’t the Time People Spend Listening to His Songs for Granted

In a clip shared on Roku’s Instagram page, as Jelly Roll and Cena drove around Nashville in his truck, he said that he views his songs as messages that have the potential to reach people at just the right moment.

“Here’s how I look at a song, John,” he said. “I have been blessed to have three minutes with you in what could be the absolute darkest moment of your life. I have been blessed to have three minutes with you in what could be the greatest moment of your life. I could have three minutes with you on just a day you need to not think about nothing.”

“But I get to share those three minutes with you,” Jelly Roll continued, “and I take that job serious, you know what I mean? ‘Cause I know three minutes can change people.”

Moved by Jelly Roll’s words, Cena replied, “Dude, yes. A lot of the stuff you say, I need a second. I need to take a breath. It’s powerful. It is.”

LeSean McCoy argues why Jalen Hurts cemented his elite status with Super Bowl MVP performance | The Herd

With the Philadelphia Eagles winning Super Bowl LIX over the Kansas City Chiefs, the celebration has begun.

Whether it will be at the White House – President Donald Trump has yet to announce a formal invitation – will be a “team decision,” says veteran offensive lineman Lane Johnson.

“I’d be honored to go, regardless of who the president is, but we’ll see,” Johnson said via Sportico’s Eric Jackson. “It’s ultimately a team decision. I’ll do what’s best for the team.”

    Lane Johnson fields questions

Johnson is a team captain with the Eagles, having spent all 12 of his NFL seasons with the franchise.

He was there in 2018 when controversy came back after their Super Bowl victory over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Trump was in office when he rescinded his invitation to the Eagles to celebrate their Super Bowl LII victory, as some players said they would not visit the White House due to Trump’s criticism of those who kneeled or raised their fists during the national anthem to protest racial injustice and police brutality.

Trump released a statement at the time regarding his invitation cancellation, saying “the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better.”

“They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country,” Trump’s statement read seven years ago.

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie was asked before Super Bowl LIX if he would head to the White House if his team won.

“I just want to win Sunday,” he responded, via Front Office Sports.

Josh Sweat, an Eagle with a crucial performance on Sunday with 2.5 sacks on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, added, “It’s a great honor, but I’m looking forward to this parade more than anything.”

  • Stephen A. Smith would divorce Serena Williams for Super Bowl 2025 halftime show appearance

Stephen A. Smith would divorce Serena Williams for Super Bowl 2025 halftime show appearance

Serena Williams’ cameo during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl 2025 halftime show turned heads and raised eyebrows for a number of reasons.

The tennis superstar appeared during Lamar’s performance of “Not Like Us,” displaying her dance moves while Lamar rapped the hit Drake diss track.

Williams’ appearance during this particular song is no coincidence as she dated Drake in 2011, which wound up with the Canadian rapper releasing the song “Too Good” about Williams five years later in which he repeats the lyric, “I’m too good to you.”

Serena Williams performs during the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show.

This raised questions about Williams’ rationale for partaking in the diss track performance and its petty jabs toward her romantic fling from nearly 15 years ago, when she now has a family of her own.

    Enter, Stephen A. Smith.

“If I’m married and my wife is going to join trolling her ex, go back to his ass, ’cause clearly you don’t belong with me,” Smith said Monday on ESPN’s “First Take.”

“What you worried about him for and you’re with me? Bye. Bye.”

“If you were with Serena Williams, you’re going to be a kept man anyways,” co-host Ryan Clark responded. “Don’t start that.”

Shannon Sharpe also came to Ohanian’s defense, noting that he did well enough for himself financially.

Joining Lamar and Williams in the onslaught of trolling was yet another partner from his past: SZA.

Drake raps, “I used to date SZA back in ‘08,” in his feature on, “Mr. Right Now,” by 21 Savage and Metro Boomin. SZA later confirmed this, though added that it was actually 2009.

Stephen A. Smith on ESPN's 'First Take' on Monday, Feb. 10

Stephen A. Smith was no fan of Serena Williams getting in on Kendrick Lamar’s Drake trolling.

While SZA featured mainly in other portions of the performance and did not add any particular trolling, it may have been a tough watch for Drake as Lamar performed the Song of the Year Grammy-winning diss track with two of Drake’s exes at an event he would naturally like to headline himself.

There’s been no public reaction from Drake, though, while onlookers continue to either applaud Williams’ trolling or, like Stephen A. Smith, question if the rapper is staying rent-free in her mind 14 years later.

  • Travis Kelce’s heartbreaking reaction to Taylor Swift being booed at Super Bowl

Travis Kelce’s heartbreaking reaction to Taylor Swift being booed at Super Bowl

Travis Kelce’s heartbreaking reaction to Taylor Swift being booed at Super Bowl

The Super Bowl showed Philadelphia Eagles destroying the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, denying them the chance to win an unprecedented third straight Super Bowl title. For Travis Kelce, the day was far from a good one. Not only his team lost the grand finale but also his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, was booed by fans during the game.

The moment Swift appeared on the jumbotron, the crowd erupted in jeers.

That forced the singer to turn to her friend, Ice Spice, and ask her, “What is going on?”

Being a professional, Swift handled the situation like one, giving the camera a slow side eye. Of course, that didn’t mean the booing hadn’t made her feel uncomfortable.

Chief’s tight end, Kelce, felt the same, according to people close to him.

“Travis was aware of Taylor getting booed and he felt helpless. Seeing the look on her face got to him,” a source said.

“He always protects her and it broke his heart. He was already having a tough night and the fact that the stadium was predominantly Eagles fans didn’t help. Travis knows that this hurt her and anyone can see this.”

They added: “It’s clear to many that the Eagles fans feel she is a traitor of sorts. Being from Pennsylvania and even wearing Eagles gear prior to dating him.”

    X/@SamuelBrownRBT

Allegedly, Kelce also commented on President Trump’s response to Swift being booed at the Super Bowl game.

Trump, who is the first ever sitting president of the country to attend the major sporting event, took to Truth Social to write, “Trump gets massive cheers at the Super Bowl while Taylor Swift gets booed.

    “The world is healing!”

Prior to the game, Kelce commented Trump’s presence at the game. He said he would be honored to play in front of the president, no matter who the president is.

“Travis believes that it was unnecessary for Trump to take a dig at her especially after he voiced that he was honoured for a president to be there,” the source added.

“After Taylor being shut out for a Grammy and Travis losing the biggest game of the year it just hasn’t been a good week for them.

“But he knows that even though this is not a happy ending to the season having her love gives him so much joy.”

She commands a fan base numbering in the tens of millions, has been one of the most famous women on the planet over the past two years, and has a reputation unblemished by scandal or defamation. Yet even Taylor Swift can find herself the subject of an en masse booing, apparently.

During last night’s Super Bowl LIX, featuring the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs, the superstar songstress seemed to be minding her own business when she became a target for the crowd. Swift – at Caesars Superdome, New Orleans to support boyfriend Travis Kelce of the Chiefs – looked to mouth “What is going on?” to friend and fellow artist Ice Spice.

The unexpected booing began when the camera panned to Swift in her box, subsequently beaming her image on the big screen before the 75,000 strong crowd.

Needless to say, Swift was as taken aback as anyone, and the negative reaction has posed the question: just why did it happen in the first place?

Well, as is always the case these days, it wasn’t long before the incident was being debated on social media. Moreover, no sooner had the video of Swift being booed hit the internet, than did fans on X attempt to decipher exactly what was going on.

“Eagles fans are booing her. She’s originally from Philly area but obviously rooting for Travis and chiefs,” one person wrote.

Another added: “The booos are from eagles fans aka the opposite team she supports this is normal.”

It’s the Eagles fans,” a third said.

There were naturally still those who were bemused by the turn of events, with many people taking to X to share their reactions.

Why did she get booed?” one person asked. “I thought she was the sweetheart of America?

Booing taylor swift as if she’s playing on the field against ‘your’ team, even though she’s just sitting there looking pretty, is loser behavior,” said another.

“What I don’t understand is why people booed at Taylor Swift? Like she was doing literally nothing and she’s just there to show support to Travis Kelce and see the game, it’s not like they’re going to make a Gabriella-Troy scene in High School Musical 3,” a third wrote.

One person who wasn’t on the receiving end of any ire was Donald Trump, who reportedly became the first sitting president in US history to attend a Super Bowl.

When the camera panned to the POTUS – who only took his oath of office three weeks ago – cheers rang out around the stadium. “I thought it would be a good thing for the country to have the president at the game,” Trump had said in an interview.

In the game itself, the Eagles emerged triumphant over the Chiefs in a 40-22 victory, stopping the Chiefs from repeating the success they enjoyed last year.

Donald Trump has been in quite the love affair with Brittany Mahomes since last year.

Trump will attend the Super Bowl, becoming the first sitting president to do so.

In a Fox News interview that aired before the Super Bowl on Sunday, Trump said he’s picking the Kansas City Chiefs to beat the Philadelphia Eagles. It is not hard to see why.

    He loves Brittany and Patrick.

Trump told Fox News’ Bret Baier that while he sees positives for both teams, “I have to go with Kansas City.”

He also spoke on the success of quarterback Patrick Mahomes and noting Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, is “a Trump fan, a MAGA fan.”

“She’s a great person,” Trump said of Brittany.

It also should be noted that Trump feuded with the Eagles following their 2018 Super Bowl victory after most of the team declined to celebrate at the White House.

Brittany Mahomes Doesn’t Back Down From Social Media Over Being A Trump Supporter
Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has said he isn’t phased by Donald Trump calling his wife, Brittany, a supporter.

Brittany unintentionally supported him after social media users called her out for liking one of his posts.

Instead of being cornered over her political affiliation, she would not back down.

As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare for their third consecutive Super Bowl appearance, Brittany is making headlines of her own.

The wife of star quarterback Patrick Mahomes took to her Instagram story to address the growing narrative that the Chiefs have rigged games that have been fueled by controversial playoff calls.

Just over a week out from the Super Bowl, Brittany took aim at conspiracy theorists by sharing a message from longtime Chiefs radio host Mitch Holthus on her Instagram story.

The post shared by Brittany Mahomes from Kansas City radio announcer Mitch Holthus said the following:

“We can stay with false narratives or discuss this—Kansas City was 17th in percentage of scoring drives that were aided by a penalty for a first down. On such drives in regular season number one? Wait for it…Buffalo 33% of scoring drives were aided by a penalty for a first down on 86 scoring drives,” he stated.

Brittany, who shares three children with Patrick Mahomes, has never been afraid to speak her mind when it comes to defending herself, her husband, or the team.

Brittany Mahomes Will Be Inside Caesars Superdome To Cheer On The Chiefs
The Chiefs are gearing up for their third straight Super Bowl in New Orleans, where the Philadelphia Eagles will be standing in their way of a historic ‘three-peat’ at Caesars Superdome.

Brittany Mahomes may have had a child last month, but that has not stopped her from attending games.

She was present as the Chiefs took on and defeated the Texans in the Divisional round and saw Kansas City take down the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship round.

You can fully expect her to be inside the Caesars Superdome for Super Bowl 59.

Adam Levine is happy to be back on The Voice Season 27 — but he misses his old chair.

From the outside, the four spinning red chairs of The Voice might look identical, save for the Coaches’ names. But to longtime and now returning Coach Adam Levine, they couldn’t be more different. In the Season 27 premiere, Levine openly pined for his old chair, and had some choice words to describe his new one.

Adam Levine threw playful shade at Blake Shelton via his old Voice chair

Blake Shelton Literally Picked Up Adam Levine During Their Reunion on The Voice | NBC Insider

Adam Levine, one of the original four Coaches on The Voice, stayed through Season 16, which means he spent years sitting on the far right hand side of the lineup, in the seat now occupied by John Legend. Returning for Season 27, he admitted that he started walking over to it from muscle memory before realizing he had to make a detour to the opposite end. He now sits far left, in the space where his friendly rival Blake Shelton sat for season after season.

“I miss Blake,” Levine admitted, before throwing a little shade at his pal, joking, “I’m in his mangy, musty chair.”

Between Acts, Levine even visited his old chair and asked Legend if he could have a moment in the seat. Legend politely declined, and for the rest of the episode, Levine made do with what he had.

Blake Shelton wanted to keep his old chair

If Shelton had it his way, Levine wouldn’t be sitting in that chair right now. Not because he’d ever keep the Maroon 5 crooner off the show, but because Shelton wanted the seat for himself.

“I don’t know if they’re gonna offer that or not. I feel like they owe me a damn chair, though,” Shelton revealed shortly after announcing his departure. “I mean, who else can sit in my chair? It’s like the three bears—I don’t want anybody else sitting in my chair. I’m gonna try to get that away from them. Maybe I’ll have to buy it or something.”

Adam Levine Reveals the One Song You’ll “Never” Hear Him Sing

You won’t catch the Maroon 5 rocker and Voice Season 27 Coach belting out this well-known tune any time soon.

Many famous singers have been asked to sing the national anthem at large-scale events, be it the Super Bowl, a presidential inauguration, or the World Series. Everyone from Whitney Houston to Garth Brooks and Lady Gaga has memorably lent their vocals to “The Star-Spangled Banner”—but one singer who will “never” attempt the song? Maroon 5 frontman and The Voice Season 27 Coach Adam Levine.

Despite having one of the most impressive voices in all of pop music, Levine is hesitant to attempt the national anthem. The revelation came out in a roundtable discussion for The Voice between Levine and his fellow Season 27 Coaches Kelsea Ballerini, John Legend, and Michael Bublé. Read more details, below.

Adam Levine is terrified to sing the national anthem

During the roundtable chat, Bublé mentioned watching performances of the Canadian national anthem as a child made him want to be a professional singer.

“Have you ever now done it in public? The national anthem, Canadian or American?” Levine asked Bublé.

“Yeah,” Bublé said, to which Levine replied, “See? It scares the s–t out of me. That’s the one thing you’ll never see me do. I’ll never do it.”

While we wait for Levine to bless us with a national anthem performance, you can watch him as a Coach on The Voice starting February 3. He was an original Coach from Seasons 1-16 of the show, then took a break for a few years. Now, he’s back.

On why he left the show in 2019, he said in an interview, “I miss [The Voice]. I really do miss it. But I wanted to stop at this point and be with my young family. I’m obsessed with them. I adore them in a way I never thought I could adore another person.”

But Levine’s mastered the art of work-family balance. “I don’t know how you can have a better life. I’m lucky enough to do what I love professionally but also have the greatest personal life and family I could ever ask for,” he told People in 2023. “And having kids and a wonderful wife, and just that life that I cling so much to. I love it so much. It means more than my career. But at the same time, having both is just a gift.”

This George Strait Fact Has Luke Combs Upset: ‘I’m Salty About It’ [Exclusive]

Luke Combs as we all know is on one hell of a redneck roll. With his streak of No. 1 songs, he is well on his way up the country music totem poll of historic figures.

    Jeff Hahne, Jason Kempin/Getty Images

Sitting atop the genre is the King, George Strait. We recently has the chance to talk to Combs about Strait, and he dropped a fact on us that we had no clue about.
The “Hurricane” singer told Taste of Country’s Adison Haager that he has something on his bucket list that is frustrating him, because he is seemingly not able to attain it.

“I would like to run into George Strait, I’ve never met George Strait, ever. I feel like everyone in the world has, and I haven’t.”

Then Combs took it to the next level and admitted, “I’m at the point where I’m salty about it.”

How could someone like Combs, who dominates country music currently, not ever even run into King George?

This George Strait Fact Has Luke Combs Upset: I'm Salty About It

Not that we don’t take his word for it, but we had to Google it and search around, and indeed, these two country music powerhouses have never met in the flesh.

The “Even Though I’m Leaving” singer admitted that if he got to knock that off of his bucket list, “That would be cool, yeah!”

With artists like George Birge, Scotty McCreery and Parker McCollum all recently telling us here at Taste of Country about their experience meeting the “Check Yes or No” legend, we can see why Combs is salty that he hasn’t gotten his turn yet.

Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal in the classic deli scene from 1989’s ‘When Harry Met Sally.’

Super Bowl Sunday is obviously all about the NFL, but of course, college football couldn’t help but creep in with a joke — this one at the expense of Hellmann’s When Harry Met Sally-inspired ad for the 2025 Super Bowl.

In the Super Bowl spot, Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan are sitting down at the famous Katz’s Deli, as USA TODAY’s Ad Meter noted, recreating the iconic scene from their 1989 romantic comedy where Sally (Ryan) proves to Harry (Crystal) that women fake orgasms by, well, faking one.

In the movie, the scene ends with director Rob Reiner’s mother, Estelle Reiner, saying the famous line: “I’ll have what she’s having.”

For the 2025 Super Bowl ad, Crystal and Ryan are in their same places, and Ryan has the same reaction as in the movie after taking a bite of a sandwich with the advertiser’s brand of mayo.
Unsurprisingly, the Twitter account for the Duke’s Mayo Bowl — a beloved bowl among college football fans — had something to say about that, cracking a joke about Ryan faking it.
