The Boston Celtics have gotten the early jump on the Orlando Magic in their first-round playoff series. The Celtics overcame an ordinary performance in the first half and dominated in the second. Tatum was driving to the hoop when he collided with Orlando’s Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and went down hard on his right wrist. Tatum appeared to be in a lot of pain after taking the hit. The play was reviewed by the officials and Caldwell-Pope was hit with Flagrant 1 foul.

Tatum missed the two free throws that followed but he did manage to stay in the game. He did not think that the hit caused a serious injury.

“I just landed on it. It was throbbing for a second,” Tatum said, per the Associated Press. “It kind of went away.”

Nevertheless, Tatum’s mother was concerned. She saw her son walk into the Boston locker room after the game and she asked him if he wanted her to go into the Magic locker room. Tatum has clearly shown he can fight his own battles and he did not respond to his mother’s inquiry.

Boston went into the locker room trailing by one point at halftime. The Magic had rallied from an early deficit to get that 49-48 advantage, and that got the Celtics’ attention.

Boston turned up its defensive pressure in the third quarter and regained control of the game. The Celtics outscored the Magic 30-18 in the third quarter and never looked back.

Derrick White led the way for the Celtics with 30 points. He was especially effective with his outside shooting as he made 7 of 12 attempts from beyond the arc. Jayson Tatum had a team-high 14 rebounds, while Jaylen Brown scored 16 points.

Paolo Banchero had a brilliant game for the Magic with 36 points and he also added 11 rebounds.

Game 2 of the series will be played Wednesday night at TD Garden.

Caldwell-Pope’s heavy contact resulted in a flagrant 1 foul. The collision sent Tatum to the ground, causing him to awkwardly land on his right wrist. This is the second year in a row that the St. Louis native was the recipient of a hard foul in the fourth quarter of a Game 1 victory, as former Heat forward Caleb Martin upended Tatum last year while they were going up for a rebound.

“It’s alright,” Tatum replied in his postgame press conference when asked about his wrist. “I just landed on it and it was throbbing for a second. It kind of went away.”

Tatum, perhaps spurred on by “MVP” chants from the home crowd, recovered from his fall and didn’t leave the game until there was just 1:26 remaining. He finished with 17 points on a rough shooting performance, missing 14 of his 22 attempts from the field. Yet, he still managed to grab a game-high 14 rebounds and have the highest plus-minus rating (plus-23) of any player.

“Probably didn’t play the efficient offensive game that he [would’ve] liked, but I thought by his poise, you couldn’t tell that,” Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla said of Tatum’s performance in Game 1. “That never got in the way of his defense and his physicality and his rebounding. That’s the most important thing.”

Boston needed that resilient approach from Tatum because it let a double-digit lead slip away in the first half and couldn’t afford to have its star be distracted by an inefficient outing. The Celtics trailed the seventh-seeded Magic 49-48 at halftime before unleashing their championship experience in the final 24 minutes of the contest.

After failing to record a single point or assist in the first half, Celtics guard Jrue Holiday contributed nine points and five assists in the last two quarters. Boston outscored Orlando 55-37 in the second half and used its opponent’s eight turnovers during that stretch as offensive fuel. From the Magic’s miscues, the Celtics were able to get out in transition and garner 26 fastbreak points to the Magic’s four. Boston’s work on the run outscored Orlando’s bench, which put up a mere 17 points on 18 shots altogether.

As for the Celtics’ bench, point guard Payton Pritchard notched a playoff career-high 19 points in his 25 minutes off the pine. Given these numbers, it’s no surprise the fifth-year Celtic was officially named a finalist for Sixth Man of the Year.

“The best gift that we’ve got as a team is our flexibility and versatility,” Mazzulla commented. “We’re going to use our entire roster and the versatility of that and do what gives us the best chance to win.”

The Magic simply don’t have enough firepower to keep up with the reigning NBA champions.

Joe Mazzulla says the Celtics fed off of Jrue Holiday’s physicality and emotion in their Game 1 win over the Magic.

BOSTON — The Celtics’ stars weren’t at their best in Game 1 of their first-round series against the Orlando Magic. It didn’t matter.

Boston cruised to a 103-86 victory with a huge boost from its supporting cast. With Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown combining for 32 points (14-36 FG), the reigning NBA champions were led by Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, and Payton Pritchard.

White erupted for a team-high 30 points on 7-of-12 shooting from 3-point range. Holiday was rock-solid on both ends of the court with nine points (3-4 3-PT), five assists, three rebounds, and three steals. Pritchard, an NBA Sixth Man of the Year finalist, tallied a playoff career-high 19 points (4-6 3-PT) off the bench.

The trio combined to shoot 14-for-22 from beyond the arc. The rest of the team was 2-for-15.

The Magic had all the momentum at the half after turning a 12-point deficit into a one-point lead. Their surge was short-lived as the C’s responded with a 15-4 run to start the third quarter.

Holiday’s 3-pointer to put Boston up 10 with 7:30 left in the frame was the turning point. The typically mild-mannered veteran guard’s rare display of emotion fired up his teammates, and the C’s didn’t trail the rest of the way.

“Yeah, I mean, he’s an innate competitor and sometimes he takes a backseat because of the type of guys that we have,” Mazzulla said of Holiday.

“I thought he put the team on his back from that passion and emotion standpoint, and that’s why Jrue Holiday is Jrue Holiday. We’re lucky to have him. We’re gonna need that every single night. But, you know, we do feed off of his physicality and his presence.”

White’s postgame praise of Holiday backed up Mazzulla’s statement.

“It was fun to see,” White said of Holiday’s emotion. “He was just kind of that emotional leader we had there, and it was big-time, especially at that moment. I mean, whether he’s yelling or not yelling, we know what to expect from Jrue. He’s always just that constant for us that’s gonna just kind of do all the little things, make every little play that we need him to do, and like I said, it’s it’s great to have him.”

While Holiday lifted his team emotionally, White carried them offensively. His 30 points marked the third-highest total in his playoff career.

Pritchard raved about “The Stock Exchange” after the win.

“Jrue set the tone to start the second half,” Pritchard told NBC Sports Boston’s Abby Chin. “His ball pressure, hit two 3s, the transition, his energy. He just makes winning plays.

“And then obviously, D-White had a tremendous game today, carried us, got us to a W.”

The C’s backcourt showed why the No. 7 seed Magic, despite having one of the league’s best defenses, entered the series as such heavy underdogs. If Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner have an off night, Orlando’s role players aren’t capable of keeping pace with Boston’s balanced offensive attack. Pritchard outscored the Magic bench on his own, 19-17.

Banchero and Wagner combined for 59 of the Magic’s 86 points in their Game 1 defeat. None of their teammates scored more than seven.

The Magic shot a solid 10-of-27 from 3-point range, but that success is unlikely to last. They finished the regular season with the league’s worst 3-point percentage (31.8). It will be near impossible to defeat the C’s in a seven-game series with such a glaring lack of depth and 3-point shooting.

The Celtics will look to take a 2-0 series lead when they host the Orlando Magic for Game 2 on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Boston.

Excluding Banchero and Wagner, the team shot 10-of-30 from the field, attributing to Boston’s tough defense on their supporting cast.

Orlando did put pressure on the Celtics early on, winning 31-22 in the second quarter as they led by one point at halftime. Despite their efforts, Boston bounced back by making solid plays on both sides of the ball. Brown, Derrick White and Jrue Holiday among others were active in the second half to propel their squad to victory.

‘The head gardener went to complain to the Queen and she told her off because she obviously didn’t like people being rude to staff,’ Mr Vickers told The Sun.

Meghan has developed a reputation in the workplace for being difficult to work with.

In September 2024, an unnamed source told the Sunday Times that they witnessed ‘people being chewed up in person and over the phone and made to feel like s***’.

Another source claimed that Meghan ‘screamed’ at a florist down the phone for half an hour after they failed to mention in a post online that the Duchess of Sussex was working with them on a bouquet.

Bon Jovi has announced a rare live appearance in Nashville, Tennessee, scheduled for a three-day event in June. The event, organized by Runaway Tours, has revealed ticket packages with prices starting at $1,750.

The cheapest single ticket, priced at $1,750 and excluding accommodation, grants access to an “intimate private performance” with Bon Jovi and a “Bon Jovi Forever Party” at Jon Bon Jovi’s JBJ’s venue in Nashville. The package also includes a signed photo from Jon Bon Jovi, a laminate and lanyard commemorating the trip, and a special gift.

Other ticket options include packages with hotel accommodations, with prices reaching up to $2,295 per person for a single occupancy room. Tickets are “extremely limited” and went on sale today, Monday, April 14, via www.runawaytours.com. No filming of the show is permitted.

Bon Jovi has been largely unable to tour since Jon Bon Jovi underwent vocal surgery in 2022. His vocal issues came to a head during the band’s 2022 tour. He had a surgical procedure called medialization to address atrophied vocal cords.

Last year, in an interview with Mix 104.1 Boston, the singer stated: “I don’t know about a tour. It is my desire to do a tour next year, but I’m just still recovering from a major surgery”.

He elaborated: “Although I’m well on the road to recovery and was able to take my time and do a song a day when I made the record, my need, want, desire is to be able to do two-and-a-half hours a night four nights a week for months on end”.
