Brian Teta, the executive producer of The View, had to put his foot in his mouth when Whoopi Goldberg scolded him for saying he was “attracted” to Beyoncé.

During a Hot Topics segment on this morning’s episode of the hit daytime talk show, the panel discussed one TikTok user’s belief that Saturday Night Live has never hired any “hot female cast members,” prompting comedian Joy Behar to chime in with her thoughts.

“First of all, it’s a comedy show, not a beauty pageant,” she said. “It’s not for men to ogle the women who are trying to get a laugh.”

Behar pointed out that there aren’t many “hot men” on the show either.

“[John] Belushi and Chris Farley were not my exactly ideal dates,” she said. “So the men are not that hot — hot meaning sexy, I think that’s what they mean. Because the women are attractive, obviously.”

She continued, “You don’t have to be a dog to be funny. But if you’re hugely model-level, no one’s gonna laugh. That’s why Gisele Bündchen is not funny.”

The group then noticed that more women seem to be attracted to funny men (Pete Davidson, for example), while men aren’t as turned on by funny women. They eventually came to the conclusion that you “have to be a confident man to be with a funny woman.”

With that, they decided to test their theory on The View’s resident man.

“Brian, are you attracted to funny women?” Sunny Hostin asked, to which Teta replied, “Absolutely. My wife is hysterical.”

Behar went on to praise him as “mature,” though she may have spoken too soon.

“I’m also attracted to Beyoncé,” he clarified, forcing Goldberg to correct his statement. The moderater turned to him and sternly said, “You really meant to say, ‘I’m also attracted to Beyoncé like I’m attracted to my wife.’”

Teta joked that the two women are “so similar in so many ways,” while Behar quipped, “Just keep digging your grave.”
