Justin Timberlake knows his support for the Memphis Grizzlies is genuine.

JT might be a music superstar, but he has always been passionate about his love for Memphis sports.

Justin Timberlake has become accustomed to the spotlight due to his career in music and Hollywood. However, he was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, meaning he has roots in the city. His relationship with the city also led to him supporting Memphis-based teams, including the Memphis Grizzlies.

The former NSNYC member has been a Grizzlies fan since the franchise’s move to Memphis in the early 2000s. Since he was a passionate supporter, he took a stake in the team as he and his wife, Jessica Biel, are minority owners. A title that some people do not know, which has led to him clapping back at some users on social media when he’s talking about the Grizzlies.

“I’m from Memphis, and I’m an owner. Anyone else?” Timberlake said on Twitter when some accused him of being a bandwagon fan.

Timberlake always has ties in Memphis

JT was raised in the Shelby Forest neighborhood and studied at E.E. Jeter Elementary School in Millington. At 11, Timberlake won a talent show in Nashville and its $16,000 prize, which made him famous across the state due to his presence in the newspaper.

Through the years, he became one of the most famous people in the world with his music. NSYNC was his first big break, but he eventually became a solo artist. He earned enough money as a popular figure to help him accrue enough money to support the Grizzlies as a minority owner.

He further strengthened his ties with Memphis when he bought a stake in the team. However, that is only scratching the surface of what he has done in his hometown because he purchased the Mirimichi golf course and club in Millington, launched the 901 Silver Tequila in honor of the Memphis area code, and earned a place as the youngest-ever inductee into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame.

Timberlake will always love Memphis

Even if he progresses in his career, Justin knows Memphis will always hold a special place in his heart. He will continue to support the Grizzlies through his investment and praise the city as much as possible.

“Memphis is the global capital of soul. And that soul is not just in the music; it’s in the people. I only hope. I can continue to return the favor for as long as I live and breathe,” JT said during his Memphis Music Hall of Fame induction speech.
