The View was not impressed by what they saw at last night’s debate — with respect to former president Donald Trump‘s performance, that is. After anticipating the showdown between Trump and Kamala Harris on yesterday’s show, the ladies reconvened today to share their thoughts, with Alyssa Farah Griffin victoriously noting her prediction about her former employer came true.
Griffin said that, without a doubt, Harris “won the night” with her debate performance. Trump? Not so much.
“As I predicted, he melted down within the first few minutes,” Griffin said, referring to her comments yesterday about Trump likely faltering after the first 15 minutes of the debate.
“She laid traps for him and he flopped right into them. On the issue he should have been strongest on, border security, he ended up talking about his rallies and how they’re actually great and nobody leaves,” Griffin said. “I want to say this: if this was a traditional presidential cycle — you have Mitt Romney against Kamala Harris — I’d be saying, ‘Listen, she should have talked more about why she was for Defund the Police and isn’t now, why she was for Medicare for all and isn’t now,’ but nothing about this is traditional.”
After listing off a few of the ridiculous things Trump said during the debate, Griffin said his most egregious remark came when he was asked about his health care plan.
“After being president for four years, out of office for four, he said, ‘I have concepts of a plan,’” Griffin said with a laugh. “That’s what you say when you have nothing prepared! I think the mask started to slip even with MAGA supporters. If you can’t get through a 90-minute debate, how can you get through four years of being president?”
When it was Sunny Hostin‘s turn to speak, she said the debate looked like “Kamala Harris prosecuting a case.”
While recapping some of Harris’ most brutal blows to Trump, Hostin noted that the Vice President claimed people leave Trump’s rallies early “out of exhaustion and boredom.”
Hostin gleefully exclaimed, “It killed him! It took him out.”
