Justin Timberlake’s recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon is proving polarizing among fans and viewers.

The “Selfish” hitmaker participated in an interview which aired Monday, September 16. During the interview, Timberlake announced nine additional shows for his ongoing Forget Tomorrow tour this fall. The tour kicked off this past April, and is set to conclude next June.

Viewers noticed that during the interview, Timberlake, 43, did not address his arrest for DWI in the Hamptons, which occurred back in June. Once the interview was uploaded to YouTube, viewers expressed their disappointment in the lack of acknowledgement in the comments.

“Wow no mention of his recent DUI at all?? Couldn’t get a bigger elephant in the room if you tried,” said one commenter.

“Sad he had a chance to address it but refused to remind a national audience to not drink & drive but did not,” said another.

Another commenter simply suggested that the interview was a PR puff, formulated to get Timberlake back in good graces with the public again.

“It’s awkward at first because Jimmy knows Justin’s reputation has tanked,” said one commenter. “I would respect this more if Justin just addressed the elephant in the room.”

Upon Timberlake’s arrest back in June, it was reported that the officer arresting him had no idea who he was. Timberlake also reportedly said that his arrest is “going to ruin the tour,” to which the officer reportedly responded “What tour?” Timberlake was then reported to have said “the world tour.”

On Friday, September 13, Timberlake announced that he had accepted a plea deal for driving while alcohol impaired (DWAI), which is a lesser charge than the DWI charge he faced. Timberlake’s deal entails a $500 fine, $260 surcharge, and 25 hours of community service. Timberlake’s driver’s license has also been suspended for 90 days.
