Recently, Patrick Beverley shook things up by sharing his list of the top five NBA power forwards. Many fans heavily criticized Beverley for leaving out the two former MVPs from his list despite even playing with one of them.

In a recent podcast, NBA veteran Beverley shared his top 5 power forwards in the league. His selections include Karl-Anthony Towns, Zion Williamson, Jaren Jackson Jr., Lauri Markkanen, and Draymond Green. However, he left out two former MVPs: Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Patrick Beverley explained that Durant and Antetokounmpo are “positionless” players and don’t fit the traditional power-forward role when Beverley’s co-host said that he was missing Giannis Antetokounmpo, who he played with last season on the Milwaukee Bucks.

“Greek Freak not a four. He’s a three. I put Greek in the same position that I put Wemby, Greek, Bron, and KD. Positionless basketball. Can’t say you’re a four and you playing the point. Just because he’s 7-feet, does that make him a four?”, Beverley said.

After clarifying his position on player roles, the 36-year-old guard updated his list to still include Karl-Anthony Towns, Zion Williamson, Jaren Jackson Jr., Lauri Markkanen, and Draymond Green, insisting the Warriors’ veteran is “definitely still in there.”

Kevin Durant, a two-time NBA champ and Finals MVP, has been a major power forward for years. Indeed, his skill and scoring ability make him a versatile player. Fans on social media questioned why Durant isn’t on Beverley’s list. Check out some of the fans’ reactions:

One fan humorously wrote, “Didn’t know Kevin Durant died.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo, the current NBA MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, has also been a key power forward for the Bucks and is loved by his fans. They also questioned Patrick Beverley’s list, with one fan writing, “Did Giannis retire or something???”

Another fan wrote, “wait so giannis doesnt exist?”

Another fan commented, “Giannis?”

Fans overall didn’t seem to be on the same page as Patrick Bevelry as one of them wrote, “Hahahaha seriously Lauri in top 5. Ruined the credibility of the list”

Not including many great players in his list, like Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo, is not the only reason Patrick Beverley is getting so much hate. Another reason is the fact that despite playing with Giannis, he doesn’t acknowledge him as a 4. One fan wrote, “This man PLAYED with Giannis and still doesn’t know he’s a 4”

Another one commented, “As soon as I saw Draymond, I knew his list was doomed”

The criticism continues, and it remains unclear whether Patrick Beverley’s choices will influence the ranking of the league’s top power forwards. What’s certain is that his picks have sparked a lot of hate against him.
