Since his debut in the 2013–14 season, Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has been a cornerstone of the Bucks. Last year, he secured his future with a contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2027–28 season. Despite his strong ties with the Bucks, speculation about his future continues to swirl.

Sam Amick of The Athletic recently stirred up media buzz by linking Antetokounmpo to the Golden State Warriors. On a recent episode of “The TK Show” podcast, Amick mentioned that the Warriors have long been interested in acquiring the star player.

“One that I think is just always gonna be monitored around the NBA is if the wheels fall off the Bucks. We know that Joe Lacob has had dreams of Giannis coming the Warriors’ way for a very long time. Again, unlikely, but Khris Middleton is gonna be a free agent next summer. I think Giannis is worth monitoring,” Amick said.

The Warriors lost veteran star Klay Thompson in the offseason, who joined the Dallas Mavericks. Despite adding Kyle Anderson and Buddy Hield to their roster, they are still looking to bring in additional talent to support Stephen Curry. There are rumors that the Warriors can target Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler in 2025 free agency.

Giannis Antetokounmpo had an outstanding season, becoming the first player in NBA history to average over 30 points per game while shooting 60% from the field. Despite this remarkable achievement, Antetokounmpo was notably absent from Patrick Beverley’s list of the top five power forwards in the league.

Beverley’s list included Karl-Anthony Towns, Zion Williamson, Jaren Jackson Jr., Lauri Markkanen, and Draymond Green. When asked about Antetokounmpo’s omission, Beverley explained that he doesn’t consider the “Greek Freak” a true power forward.

“Greek Freak is not a four. He’s a three. I put the Greek Freak in the same position that I put Wemby, Greek, Bron, KD. Positionless basketball,” Beverly said.

Giannis Antetokounmpo & Co. will head into the 2024-25 season with a game against the Detroit Pistons.
