Steve Jones has revealed that a story he was assigned about pop star Justin Bieber was the “breaking point” that led to him quitting showbiz in Los Angeles.

The Welsh TV presenter was the guest star on the latest episode of Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver’s hit podcast, Miss Me? while Oliver was away on holiday.

During the conversation, he and Allen compared thoughts on the appeal of LA versus New York, with the pop singer branding LA “vacuous, soulless and horrible” and adding that she was “haunted” by her past behaviour in the city.

Jones, 47, agreed with her verdict but said there was a part of him that would rather be around “fake happy people” than “genuinely miserable people”.

He lived in the Californian city between 2011 and 2012 while serving as host of the first series of The X Factor USA, but decided to call it a day after a stint reporting for Entertainment Tonight.

“There was a story where I was covering the fact that Justin Bieber had just bought a new mattress,” he recalled, “and I thought, ‘I am probably going to kill myself, I cannot do this.’”

Shortly after, Jones said he asked his then-girlfriend if she would move back with him to the UK: “And here we are, 13 years later, about to celebrate our 10th anniversary next month.”

He called meeting his wife, US-born food writer and blogger Phylicia Jackson-Jones, the “one fantastic thing that came out of The X Factor USA”.

“I met her when I was filming, just in a bar in LA,” he said. “She was there, we started talking and she moved in with me about six months later.”

Jones announced that he had been dropped as presenter of The X Factor USA in January 2012. He returned to the BBC the following month to host Let’s Dance for Sport Relief.

He has continued to front programmes including Channel 4’s Sex Box and This Morning alongside Josie Gibson, as well as appearing on the panel show Would I Lie to You? .

Elsewhere during his conversation with Allen, he opened up about his wife’s struggles with endometriosis, a long-term condition where tissue grows in places such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes, and its devastating impact on their attempts to have children.

He also urged Allen to release new music, prompting her to reveal that “there is something happening in the near future”.

“I’m basically putting something out there,” she said. “But it’s not an album. I hope people like it.”

Fans Suspect Taylor Swift Just Subtly Addressed Donald Trump’s AI Image Scandal in New Statement

As the singer broke her silence on her canceled Eras Tour concerts, fans think she responded to the fake imagery, too.

Taylor Swift fans think she may have sneakily spoken out about Donald Trump’s use of AI images to fake her endorsement in her latest social media post.

After concluding the European leg of the Eras Tour earlier this week, the singer finally broke her silence on the “devastating” cancellation of her three scheduled concerts in Vienna, Austria, as a result of a planned terror attack, offering fans a glimpse into the steps her team took to protect everybody for the rest of the tour and explaining why she waited more than two weeks to speak out — an explanation that may also serve to address a collection of fake images generated by artificial intelligence that the former president posted on his Truth Social platform earlier this week.

The images showed young women wearing “Swifties for Trump” tees, as well as a satire article headlined “Swifties Turning to Trump After ISIS Foiled Taylor Swift Concert,” and an image of Swift dressed as Uncle Sam holding a sign that said, “Taylor Swift Wants You To Vote For Donald Trump.”

“I accept!” Trump wrote alongside them as though he were accepting the singer’s endorsement for a second term.

Many fans condemned the clearly fake news, as Swift has spoken out against Trump previously and endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ campaign in 2020, and encouraged her to take legal action against the former reality star.

Swift has not directly addressed the images, but some fans think that she was hinting towards them, too, when she wrote of Vienna, “Let me be very clear: I am not going to speak about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke those who would want to harm the fans who come to my shows.”

She continued, “In cases like this one, ‘silence’ is actually showing restraint, and waiting to express yourself at a time when it’s right to. My priority was finishing our European tour safely, and it is with great relief that I can say we did that.”

One fan, named Katie, shared a screenshot of the statement on X, writing, “I feel like this statement is also a subtle mention of the AI posts, btw.”

It’s not entirely clear what course of action Swift may have, as laws surrounding AI images are murky. For example, when the singer was the victim of a rash of deepfake, sexually explicit content that spread like wildfire earlier this year, there weren’t—and still aren’t—any federal laws in place to protect people from AI abuse. According to ABC News, the No AI FRAUD Act was introduced as a result, which would give people the right to control the use of their own identifying characteristics, such as their likeness and voice, though it has yet to move forward.

In Trump’s case, Pace University Law Professor Leslie Garfield Tenzer told Forbes that Swift may have recourse under the Lanah Act, which “protects celebrity ‘brands’ and gives celebrities a cause of action against people or corps that try to use the celebrity’s likeness to mislead consumers.” While consumers and voters are not synonymous, Garfield Tenzer believes the “analogy could be made.” He also believes she could sue for “misappropriation of likeness.”

It’s unlikely Swift will ever speak out publicly if she’s planning to take the situation to court, as she has typically remained mum throughout previous copyright lawsuits, but it’s clear that if she does choose to, it won’t be until the time is right.

Whoopi Goldberg was incensed by Senate Republicans voting to block a bill in early June that would have made contraception a federal right.

On this morning’s episode of The View, the panel discussed the vote on the Right to Contraception Act, which Republicans said wasn’t needed because birth control is currently protected under the Supreme Court, per NBC News.

Goldberg is often vocal about women’s healthcare and the right to choose what someone does with their own body on the show. Back in March 2023, she argued with co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin about birth control after Calif. Gov. Gavin Newsom stopped business with Walgreens after the company chose not to sell abortion medication in certain states.

She also often defends pregnant people’s right to abortion on The View. In an April episode earlier this year, Goldberg reiterated that nobody has to have an abortion, but those who do undergo the procedure have her full support.

“No one is obligated to have an abortion. So you never have to have one. According to reports, the officers initiated the stop because the ten-time Grammy award winner ran past a stop sign and swerved in and out of his lane.

During the traffic stop, Timberlake performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety and was then charged with a  DWI misdemeanor and cited for veering out of his lane.

On Aug. 7, the three scheduled shows at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium were canceled after the Vienna Federal Ministry of the Interior officials confirmed arrests were made in relation to “planned attacks at major events.” These were the first shows to be canceled on the tour, which launched in March 2023.

It’s been over two months since Justin Timberlake‘s DWI arrest in Sag Harbor, New York, and he’s been laying low on the European leg of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour. Staying out of trouble and healing his marriage to Jessica Biel might be his top priorities because his wife was reportedly quite upset about the very public incident.

“Part of Justin’s mea culpa to Jessica was to admit that he’d gotten into some bad habits and that he needs to dial everything way back,” an insider told In Touch Weekly. In addition to his alleged offense of drinking while intoxicated, the 43-year-old singer was also “busted with a vape pen.” Biel wasn’t too pleased by that discovery, so “he’s now agreed to totally ditch that for good, and he’s gone pretty much cold turkey on the booze, too,” according to the source.

Timberlake is “committed to a very clean life” after his driver’s license was suspended by the judge in his recent court hearing where he pleaded not guilty to the DWI charges. Biel, who was in Manhattan filming The Better Sister series for Amazon Prime when the arrest happened, was reportedly “colossally disappointed and embarrassed” by the incident. There’s going to be a lot of questions asked of Justin moving forward, without a doubt,” a source told The U.S. Sun in June.

The couple has already weathered his Janet Jackson and Britney Spears apologies along with his alleged cheating scandal with his Palmer co-star, Alisha Wainwright, in 2019. “Jessica has shown the patience of a saint forgiving his various misdeeds over the past few years, but this is really testing her patience and then some,” the source added. Now, it’s up to Timberlake to make things up to his wife and his two sons, Silas, 9, and Phineas, 4.

But, if we rewind five years, it seems like his close pals keep saying the same thing over and over to the press, though. “Justin has spent a lot of time apologizing and acknowledging Jessica’s feelings,” a source shared with E! News in 2019. “He feels terrible and wishes he could take back the public humiliation and embarrassment he caused. He loves Jessica and being married to her. He will learn from what happened and not let it happen again.”
