Justin Timberlake clashed with ‘mean’ Matthew Lawrence over Danielle Fishel on ‘Boy Meets World’ set

    May the best man win.

Justin Timberlake and Matthew Lawrence were at odds over their affection for Danielle Fishel on the set of “Boy Meets World” in the early 2000s.

Lawrence, 44, recalled his beef with the “SexyBack” singer, 43, on Monday’s episode of the “Pod Meets World” podcast hosted by Fishel, 43, and her former co-stars Will Friedle and Rider Strong.

“I don’t know if you guys — well, of course, you remember this — but when *NSYNC kept coming over to the set? I found out years later, when I bumped into Justin, that he thought I was not very nice,” Lawrence told his fellow “Boy Meets World” alums.
“He didn’t like me. And he flat out told me to my face,” Lawrence added.

The actor, who played Jack Hunter on the coming-of-age sitcom, said that at the time he was “a huge fan” of Timberlake, whose debut album, 2002’s “Justified,” had just come out.

However, the tension between the pair was evident to Lawrence once he approached Timberlake.

“I didn’t have any recollection of this, and he was like, ‘Oh yeah? Yeah? Now you wanna be friends with me? You were so mean on the set,” Lawrence recalled. “And then I sort of remember.”

The “Mrs. Doubtfire” star admitted that he “was super shy” then, before confessing another reason why Timberlake didn’t like him.

“I had, you know, kind of a crush on Danielle. And these guys kept rolling up on set, like, trying to hit on her!” he revealed.

Strong, 44, confirmed that the members of *NSYNC — Timberlake, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, Chris Kirpatrick and JC Chasez — were “just orbiting around Danielle in a constant circle.”

“I was wondering if you were gonna say it!” Fishel said in response to Lawrence admitting the crush he had on her. “I was like, ‘I also know why he was probably a little standoffish.’”

Strong further explained how the boy band fawned over Fishel on the set of the show.

“I remember us guys would always be like, ‘These dudes! Oh my god, they come around here.’ And we would watch Danielle, like, completely ignore all of us,” Strong recalled. “We would, like, lose our sister. We would just lose her, and we’d be like, ‘Oh, god. She totally changes around them. She just totally changes.’”

Friedle, 48, noted that Fishel “had a one-in-five chance” at the group, and poked fun at how she ultimately chose Bass, 45. The pair dated years before Bass came out as gay.

“I liked the comfort and security of knowing nothing was gonna happen,” Fishel joked about her relationship with Bass.

Turning back to the Timberlake-Lawrence beef, Lawrence said he “didn’t get a chance to explain” to Timberlake that he had a crush on Fishel, which provoked their beef.

Seven years after “Boy Meets World” ended, Lawrence started dating “Dancing With the Stars” pro Cheryl Burke. They got married in 2019 but Burke, 40, filed for divorce in 2022. The divorce was finalized later that year.

Lawrence is now dating Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas from the girl group TLC.

Timberlake, meanwhile, has been married to Jessica Biel since 2012 and they have two kids together. Biel, 42, has stood by Timberlake through cheating allegations and his recent DWI charge.

And Fishel is married to producer Jensen Karp, with whom she shares two children. The actress announced on her podcast last month that she was diagnosed with an early stage of breast cancer.

  • Why Is Chelsea Clinton On ‘The View’?(HG)

Why Is Chelsea Clinton On ‘The View’?(HG)

The View kicked off this morning with a slightly different looking Hot Topics table. While we’re used to seeing Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin around the table most days, Thursday kicked off with a familiar face who has often visited The View: Chelsea Clinton.

Of course, for Clinton to be there one of the hosts had to be gone. This time, it was Hostin who was missing from the table.

When the ladies walked out to their new theme song, it was Clinton who filed out after Griffin. As they all settled into their seats, Goldberg explained why the panel looked a little unfamiliar this morning.

“Hello everyone and welcome to The View! Sunny is out, but here today with us is the fabulous Chelsea Clinton,” Goldberg told the audience as they cheered for the daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton, who was seated in Hostin’s usual spot at the Hot Topics table.

Where is Sunny Hostin on The View? Why isn’t Sunny Hostin on The View? And why is Chelsea Clinton on The View?

Lucky for you, we’ve got answers. Keep reading for more information.

Where is Sunny Hostin on The View?

Hostin is not on The View this morning. The co-host was around for yesterday’s episode to recap the debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, but she was nowhere to be found on Thursday’s show.

Why is Chelsea Clinton on The View?

With Hostin off, Clinton was pulled in to co-host. The former first daughter has been on the show plenty of times in the past, often to talk politics. Most recently, she told The View panel that she thinks President Joe Biden deserves more credit for his administration’s accomplishments.

When will Sunny Hostin be back on The View?

Goldberg did not reveal when Hostin will be back on the show, but we’ve got our fingers crossed she’ll be at the Hot Topics table when we tune in tomorrow morning.

    How to watch The View:

To tune in to The View, you’ll need access to ABC, the show’s network home. The View airs at 11/10c every weekday. You can watch ABC through a traditional cable subscription via the ABC website, or stream through platforms like Fubo, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV and Sling TV.

The singer and actor Justin Timberlake, who faced drunken-driving charges after an erratic drive in the Hamptons led to his arrest, is expected to plead guilty to a lesser offense, according to the Suffolk County district attorney’s office.

A spokeswoman for the office said that Mr. Timberlake, 43, is expected to enter the plea when he appears in person at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on Long Island on Friday. She did not say what the lesser charge would be.

Mr. Timberlake’s lawyer declined to comment on the plea deal.

The singer was arrested in mid-June when police officers saw a gray 2025 BMW move out of one lane and drive through a stop sign, according to an arrest report. After being pulled over on a residential street lined with upscale mansions and cozy cottages, Mr. Timberlake was found with “bloodshot and glassy” eyes and a strong stench of alcohol on his breath, the report said.

He was put through several sobriety tests, such as standing on one leg and walking in a straight line, which he performed “poorly,” the report said. He told the officers that he had one martini and was following his friends home, the report added.

Justin Timberlake Scores Plea Deal in DWI Case...

Mr. Timberlake was then arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.

The singer inspired a bit of a frenzy in the small beach town at a court date in August. Paparazzi, cameras and fans flocked to the Main Street court trying to catch a glimpse of him, but Mr. Timberlake made a somber appearance on video from Europe.

Mr. Timberlake, who was in the midst of a world concert tour, initially pleaded not guilty and faced a fine of up to $1,000 or jail time. His lawyer tried to have the case thrown out, objecting to how the initial paperwork was filed. But prosecutors simply refiled the documents and arraigned him again.

‘The View’: Whoopi Apologizes for Telling JD Vance to ‘Shut Up’ About Taylor Swift | Video (HG)

“I’m sorry, that was very rude,” the ABC host says

    The View

Whoopi Goldberg offered an apology to vice presidential hopeful JD Vance on Thursday morning, just seconds after telling him bluntly to “shut up.” But that doesn’t mean the host took back the overall sentiment.

The moment came as the ABC hosts discussed the impact of Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz on Tuesday night. Despite the fact that she drove more than 300,000 people to vote.gov in less than 24 hours, Donald Trump’s running mate doesn’t think Swift will have very much influence on the election.

Whoopi Goldberg apologizes for telling J.D. Vance to shut up on Taylor Swift

Vance told Fox News that the singer-songwriter “is fundamentally disconnected from the interests and the problems of most Americans” and that, because she’s a billionaire, she’s not affected by the issues that middle class voters care about.

“You don’t know what affects her, you don’t know about her money. What are you talking about? Shut up, JD,” Whoopi snapped as the clip ended. But, she immediately corrected herself: “I’m sorry, that was very rude … Stop talking, JD.”

From there, Whoopi sent “The View” to a commercial break and when they returned, she made it clear that the apology was genuine — but only for the specific wording.

“I apologized because I hate when people tell me, pundits tell me to shut up,” Whoopi explained. “It’s not a nice thing to say. So I do take it back, but the implication is, ‘hushhh.’”

‘And that includes Ethan Hawke and Josh Charfles who were amazing that includes my amazing cinematographer who goes out of his way to work with a female director. And he’s a genius and I can’t believe I got to work with him as well as my amazing production designer. I worked with on the eras tour. Post Malone who we all love so much.’

‘It that’s all you guys for doing that in voting for this award, so thank you mtv, for giving me this opportunity. To thank the fans, so thank you.’

Taylor and the 29-year-old rapper earned the major win for their music video for hit single Fortnight.

As the award show landed on the 23rd anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Taylor did not forget to recognize that dark day when she began her acceptance speech

She said:  ‘You guys, I wanted to say waking up this morning in New York on September 11th, I’ve been thinking about what happened 23 years ago.

‘Everyone who lost a loved one, everyone that we lost, and that’s the most important thing about today. And everything that happens tonight.’

Taylor went on to thank her collaboration partner as she praised him for his professionalism and kind heartedness.

She explained: ‘But it’s so amazing to have the opportunity to thank and honor the people who work so hard with me on this video. There is a very clear reason why post Malone is everyone in music’s favorite person to collaborate with.

‘And it is because you are so ridiculously talented, you are so versatile, and you are the most down-to-earth person. It honestly, so unfailingly polite, it has taken me forever to get him to stop calling me ma’am. Do you want to say something?’

Post then took over as he continued: ‘Absolutely lost for words, one of the most kind and talented people I have ever had the honor of knowing. Just the amount of work and care and love she puts into everything she does for the music video — I watched her tied up to like the operating table thing in the music video and she was just directing the music video from there.

Fortnight also earned Best Direction, Best Editing, and Song of Summer as Taylor herself earned Artist of the Year and Best Pop bringing her evening total to seven.

Meanwhile, Sabrina Carpenter had the biggest upset of the night as she defeated her mentor Taylor.

The 25-year-old hitmaker earned the coveted Song Of The Year Moon Person over the pop megastar for her smash hit Espresso.

Sabrina was taken aback as she began her speech saying: ‘Oh! Well, well, well, hi! I’ve literally never won one of these, this is really special. The first people who won are the fans.

‘If you clap after everything I say, they’re going to call me off the stage so once I can but I just want to say, you guys are the reason I get to do what I love. But also the reason we could have so much fun and share music with each other. I just feel so grateful, you’re the best of all of us, it’s so cheesy, but I love you.’

The artist – who performed her three hit songs earlier in the evening – finished off her speech by addressing her gratitude.

She concluded: ‘Thank you, thank you to my managers, thank you to my family, my cats and dogs at home watching, and thank you to the people who made Espresso with me. I love making music with you and I can’t wait to share more music with you. And thank you.’

Taylor was nominated for her song Fortnight which was a collaboration with Post Malone. Beyonce ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’, Jack Harlow ‘Lovin On Me’, Kendrick Lamar ‘Not Like Us’, and Teddy Swims ‘Lose Control’ were also nominated.

Another one of the biggest awards of the night came with this year’s recipient of the legendary Video Vanguard Award in Katy Perry.

The 39-year-old singer – born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson – was presented the honor by fiance Orlando Bloom as she planted a massive kiss on him.

She began her acceptance speech by saying: ‘Thank you so much to MTV for believing in my weirdness from day one, and for being such a pivotal teacher to so many generations that an artist’s there are so many things that have to align to have a long and successful career as an artist. There are no decades-long accidents.’

Katy went on to acknowledge her team including record label Capitol Records and her management team.

She continued: ‘Trust me, it takes a village of strong people, a lot of healthy discourse, and a lot of group chats. My parents and my family, who are an endless source of support and the deepest roots I know. We don’t always agree, but what a lesson that those disagreements can still be full of love.

‘Thank you to MySpace, Warped Tour, and all the bygone places where I found a voice identity, and community so early on. Thank you to my friends who go when my Jetta was repossessed, my Katycats who do, too, and my LGBTQ community, who I recognize I would not be here without, who showed me that you can be both kind and snatched.’

She then went on to reference her latest racy interview which made waves last week as she thanked her longtime partner.

Justin Timberlake Reaches Plea Deal in DWI Case Three Months After His Hamptons Arrest

The singer has reportedly agreed to plead guilty to a less serious offense

Justin Timberlake has reached a plea deal in his DWI case, nearly three months after he was arrested in Sag Harbor, N.Y., PEOPLE confirms.

The singer, 43, is due in court for a hearing in New York on Friday, Sept. 13. TMZ and the Associated Press report that the Timberlake has agreed to plead guilty to a less serious offense after initially being charged with driving while intoxicated.

Timberlake’s attorney and a rep for the Suffolk County District Attorney did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Though the star’s lawyer Edward Burke Jr. has maintained that Timberlake was “not intoxicated” when he was arrested on June 18, the “Selfish” singer was booked on one count of DWI and two citations — one for running a stop sign and one for failure to keep in lane.

Timberlake told his arresting officer that he’d “had one martini and I followed my friends home,” according to his arrest report, which was obtained by PEOPLE.

The report said that while on routine patrol, an officer allegedly saw Timberlake’s 2025 BMW drive through a stop sign, and “fail to keep on the right side of the roadway.” The officer initiated a traffic stop, and noted that Timberlake’s “eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”

The star refused a breathalyzer after being taken to police headquarters — and because of that, had his license suspended for a year in the state of New York during a hearing in August, something Burke said was “standard with every DUI.”

Burke put forth a motion to dismiss the case in July but withdrew the motion at the aforementioned August hearing, during which Timberlake also pleaded not guilty while appearing virtually in court from Antwerp, Belgium.

During that same hearing, Sag Harbor Village Justice Carl Irace warned Burke against continuing to speak to the press, as he said Burke’s statements “come off as an attempt to poison the case before it even begins.” Irace also threatened to implement a gag order on the case and require Timberlake to appear in court in person.

A second hearing in August revealed there was a subpoena out to the American Hotel, where Timberlake was hanging out before his arrest. The hotel was said to be “complying” with the case.

Joy Behar tells Chris Christie to ‘shut up’ for failing to explicitly say he’ll vote for Harris (HG)

The former New Jersey governor told the co-hosts that he would not be voting for Trump

“The View” co-host Joy Behar told former Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to “shut up” after he did not explicitly say he wanted to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris following the debate between her and former President Trump.

“You think you’re going to vote for her now?” co-host Sunny Hostin asked as Christie responded, “I’m still an undecided voter.”

Behar quickly shouted, “Oh shut up,” and “stop it,” before booing him. Christie joined the hosts of “The View” on Wednesday to discuss the debate between Harris and Trump, which he argued was a win for the vice president and would help sway undecided voters.

“I know you all want me to make some sort of big announcement but what I will say to you is Donald Trump is not who I’m voting for,” Christie, a vocal critic of the former president, said.

The hosts have unleashed on Christie in the past for refusing to endorse President Biden when he was still in the race.

Christie said on July 19 that he wasn’t planning on voting for Trump or Biden. Biden dropped out at the end of July following a disastrous debate performance against the former president.

“But you have to vote!” Behar told Christie during the July exchange.

“No, I’m gonna vote down ticket. I don’t have to vote [for president], no!” Christie said, standing his ground, as one of co-hosts could be heard telling him, “Yes, you do.”

“You cannot throw away your vote! I asked you the last time you were on, Chris, and you’re gonna sit this one out?” Hostin said at the time, speaking over him.

Christie told the co-hosts on Wednesday that Harris looked well-prepared and Trump did not.

While he advised that Harris stop pushing for a second debate, suggesting that it would give Trump a chance to do better, he said that Harris could do a couple different things that might help her.

“The American people are forgiving people and they’re understanding people, so there were some mistakes made in the Biden administration. She should admit to them and say she’s going to do better,” he said, pointing to the pullout of Afghanistan.

“She could become more credible with people by saying, ‘Look, that was a mistake, and I learned from it, and I’m going to do better when I’m president,’” he added. “When you talk about changing positions on certain issues, the way I would hope she would address it would be to say, ‘You know what? I will change some of my positions if that helps me bring the country together. If it helps me bring people together.’”

Goldberg demonstrated Harris walking out to the debate stage on “The View” set as she said Trump’s strategy “was to double-down on the crazy.”

Whoopi Goldberg was so excited by Kamala Harris’ performance against Donald Trump during Tuesday night’s debate that the energy lifted her up out of her seat at The View table the following morning.

Hours after Harris gave Trump a “booty whooping,” Goldberg said at the top of the show, the 68-year-old actress and View moderator kicked off the show by praising the VP for making her feel “quite relieved” over Harris’ resilience across the nearly two-hour debate.

“Last night was the fist and possibly last presidential debate between Vice President Harris and You-Know-Who. Clearly, Vice President Harris kicked some butt. She did. She called You-Know-Who out for kissing up to dictators, killing the immigration bill, having no healthcare plan, and spewing lies about post-birth abortion, which to be clear, is illegal everywhere,” Goldberg recapped, adding that Trump’s “strategy was to double-down on the crazy” during the live event.

Joy Behar, 81, likened the debate to “watching elder abuse,” taking a jab at Trump’s fitness for office at the age of 78.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, the show’s conservative panelist who previously worked under Trump at the White House, also praised Harris’ attempts to lay “traps” that Trump “flopped right into” amid the debate.

“The best of all, he was asked if he has a healthcare plan after being president for four years, and out of office for four years. He said, ‘I have concepts of a plan.’ That’s what you say when you have nothing prepared,” Griffin, 35, said while laughing. “I think the mask started to slip even with MAGA supporters. If you can’t get through a 90-minute debate, how can you get through four years of being president?”

Legal expert and former prosecutor Sunny Hostin, 55, likened Harris’ tactics to “prosecuting a case,” and echoed Griffin’s assessment that “she baited him” into what she later described as an “unhinged” showing on the debate stage.

Goldberg then praised Harris for walking out, looking Trump in the eye, and shaking his hand in the opening moments of the debate broadcast — a move 46-year-old panelist Sara Haines called “such a bold way to start the whole thing.” Goldberg was so enthused by the moment that she left her own seat at The View table to demonstrate Harris’ swag in the moment.

“Now this may not be what was coming out of her mouth, but this is what her body was saying,” Goldberg said as she strutted across the studio. “And then she said her name correctly, and if you notice, he didn’t say it at all, because he knew, she said to him, ‘You want to say something to me? Say it to my face,’ and she put her face right there, and he couldn’t do it.”

The ladies of The View weren’t the only ones impressed by Harris during the debate, as pop superstar Taylor Swift quickly offered her support for Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, in a social media post shared in the moments after the debate ended.

Joy Behar snaps at Chris Christie to ‘shut up,’ audience groans as he refuses to endorse Kamala Harris on The View (HG)

“The View” audience audibly reacted to Christie’s refusal to endorse Harris following Tuesday night’s debate.

Joy Behar’s blossoming friendship with her one-time enemy Chris Christie reached a new milestone of tension on live TV, when The View cohost reacted to the former governor of New Jersey’s refusal to endorse Kamala Harris following Tuesday night’s presidential debate.

The moment came as the group discussed undecided voters heading into the November election, with Behar, 81, asking Christie, 62, if Harris’ performance was “going to move the needle” or not for Americans who, before the debate, hadn’t yet backed either Harris or Donald Trump.

“You think you’re going to vote for her now? You were an undecided voter,” Sunny Hostin, 55, asked.

Christie confirmed that he’s “still an undecided voter,” and Behar snapped at the reply.

“Oh, shut up!” Behar said. “Oh, stop it! Boo!”

The show’s in-studio audience also jeered at Christie’s response, prompting moderator Whoopi Goldberg to address the crowd. “Hold up, hold up, hold up,” Goldberg said, opening her arms and turning toward the audience to calm them down.

“I understand you all want me to make some big announcement, but what I will say to you is Donald Trump is not who i’m voting for, you can take that to the bank,” Christie added, while Behar smiled and attempted to hold a side conversation with him as Goldberg attempted to throw the show to a commercial break.

“Joy, hold up!” Goldberg said to Behar, cutting off their chat so she could send the segment off. “Our thanks to Chris Christie. We’ll be right back!”

Since he and Behar put their past feud behind them, Christie has been a regular guest on The View, with his appearances often making headlines for the group’s spirited discussions with the politician.

On a January episode of the show, Christie scolded 35-year-old cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin at the table for “insulting” his supporters with one of her political projections, while Behar later said on the show’s companion podcast Behind the Table that she ultimately forgave her “brutal” feud with Christie because he’s now an enemy of Trump.
