Novak Djokovic has raised fresh concerns over his fitness by limping into Doha Airport. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has struggled with injuries over the past year and crashed out of the Qatar Open in the first round earlier this week.

Djokovic insisted that he had fully recovered from a hamstring tear which forced him to retire from his Australian Open semi-final against Alexander Zverev last month. However, he was dumped out of the Qatar tournament by former Wimbledon final opponent Matteo Berrettini.

The Italian won 7-6 6-2 in the opening round to knock Djokovic out of the singles. His doubles campaign with Fernando Verdasco ended in a second-round loss against Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara.

And it seems the Serb may have been playing down his injury woes. In a video shared on social media by Spanish publication AS, Djokovic is seen limping into Doha Airport.

It remains to be seen whether Djokovic is fit to play at Indian Wells next month. He also plans to feature in the Miami Open but his participation could be placed into doubt if there is a fresh injury.

In a sad admission ahead of the Qatar Open, the 37-year-old revealed that it is no longer easy to maintain top physical health.

“I am trying to improve my game, as everybody else. But my game is not going to change now drastically,” Djokovic explained.

“I’m not going to play serve and volley, maybe every once in a while, but my game is what it is, the core is going to be the same. I’m going to try to adjust depending on the surface that I play on and so forth.

“There are more injuries. Things are not the same as 10 years ago, 15 years ago. I still try to take care of my body on a daily basis, and it’s more challenging now, no doubt. I still try to do my very best, given the circumstances.”

Djokovic is the last of his generation of tennis icons to still be playing full-time on the ATP Tour. Rafael Nadal retired last year. It has been nearly three years since Roger Federer called time on his career.

Andy Murray finally stepped away from the tennis court after injuries plagued his final six years on the circuit. The Scot, whose last appearance came in the Olympics, has since been appointed as Djokovic’s coach and oversaw his run to the Australian Open semi-finals.

Karolina Muchova has spoken out after a ‘stalker’ was removed during her match against Emma Raducanu in Dubai.

Raducanu suddenly burst into tears and approached the umpire while trailing 2-0 in their second-round match.

It later emerged that a man who had shown “fixated behaviour” the previous day was removed from the stands.

There was concern when Raducanu became distressed early in her contest with Muchova. The Czech star came over to console her opponent. After the spectator in question was removed, the match resumed.
The Brit showed courage to continue playing, and she erased a 4-0 deficit. But Muchova still took the opening set in a tiebreak and went on to win 7-6(6) 6-4.

The world No. 17 has now addressed the incident for the first time, admitting she didn’t realise what was happening at first.

“Yeah, it was strange situation,” Muchova said after beating McCartney Kessler in the round of 16.

“I honestly went for my serving. I didn’t even know something was happening. Then I saw she’s not on the other side. So I went to check with the referee what is happening. She told me what is happening.

“Yeah, obviously you don’t want to see these things to be happening to anyone, to any woman, any girl. So I was just trying to be there, maybe calm her down a little bit.

“I’m happy they solved it pretty fast. I think she was fine after a while. Then we just kept going with the match.”

The former French Open finalist also said she had never encountered anything similar herself.

She added: “I’m lucky around me it’s nice fans usually. Yeah, I wasn’t in the situation. Again, I felt sorry for her and for anyone who has to go through this.

“Obviously there are people texting us after matches all the time. Sometimes not the nicest messages. But never it happened to me that someone would like actually approach me live. Yeah, I guess I’m lucky it didn’t happen to me.”

Raducanu has since returned home and she took to Instagram to thank Muchova for being a good sport.

“Thank you for the messages of support. Difficult experience yesterday (Tuesday) but I’ll be okay and proud of how I came back and competed despite what happened at the start of the match,” the Brit wrote.

“Thank you to Karolina for being a great sport and best of luck to her for the rest of the tournament.”

The WTA confirmed that a man exhibiting “fixated behaviour” had approached Raducanu on Monday and was identified in the stands of her match against Muchova.

“On Monday, February 17, Emma Raducanu was approached in a public area by a man who exhibited fixated behaviour,” the women’s tennis tour said in a statement.

“This same individual was identified in the first few rows during Emma’s match on Tuesday at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and subsequently ejected. He will be banned from all WTA events pending a threat assessment.”

Peyton Stearns has revealed that she collapsed in the corridor after beating Qinwen Zheng in Dubai.

The world No. 46 upset the Olympic champion in the second round of the Dubai Tennis Championships.

Stearns had to come back out for another match a few hours later and suffered a heavy defeat to Mirra Andreeva.

Rain wreaked havoc on the schedule in Dubai earlier this week, with play suspended for hours on Tuesday. It meant Stearns’ match against world No. 8 Zheng was pushed back by a day.

The Olympic gold medallist came out firing on Wednesday morning and took the first set. But Stearns forced a decider and broke immediately in the final set.

Zheng started to struggle, calling the physio. She later revealed she had been cramping in her fingers. Stearns sealed the biggest victory of her career, winning 3-6 6-4 6-4.

But she didn’t have much time to enjoy it, returning to face Andreeva in the round of 16. Andreeva needed just 73 minutes to beat her 6-1 6-1.

Stearns has now revealed that she was battling an illness and collapsed in the corridor after playing two matches in one day. The 23-year-old shared a photo of herself on the floor, being attended to by medics.

“Highly don’t recommend having a GI illness & playing 2 matches in a day… not a good combo,” she wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Stearns also poked fun on Instagram, writing: “Let the bodies hit the floor.”

Andreeva also played two matches in one day, beating former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova earlier on Wednesday.

After defeating Stearns, she said: “ Yeah, it was tough to play two matches in one day. The rain decided that, so we had no choice.

“Yeah, just tried to stay active after my first match. I’m really happy with my win today.”

Stearns will be hoping to recover in time to play her home tournaments in America. The 23-year-old is set to compete in the ATX Open in Austin next week.

There was confusion at the Qatar Open on Thursday as Daniil Medvedev suddenly retired in the middle of his quarter-final match.

Felix Auger-Aliassime took the first set 6-3 and headed to his bench for the changeover while Medvedev approached the chair umpire.

The official then announced that Medvedev had retired, and the No. 4 seed walked off court without shaking his opponent’s hand. Auger-Aliassime and the commentators were baffled by the Russian’s sudden decision.

Medvedev later released a statement confirming he was suffering from food poisoning.

Medvedev has been having a disappointing season so far – he went 1-1 at the Australian Open and 1-1 again in Rotterdam. But he started to turn things around in Doha, winning back-to-back matches for the first time in 2025.

The world No. 6 beat reigning champion Karen Khachanov in his opening match and, on Wednesday, destroyed Nuno Borges for the loss of just three games.

But there was a disappointing end to his Qatar Open campaign on Thursday, as the former champion retired suddenly. Auger-Aliassime reeled off four games in a row to take the opening set 6-3 and Medvedev suddenly threw the towel in.

There were no huge signs that Medvedev was struggling and the Canadian was unaware that his opponent was about to retire. He sat on his bench as usual for the end-of-set changeover.

But Medvedev didn’t go to his bench. He marched straight up to umpire Mohamed Lahyani and could be seen in conversation with the official.

Auger-Aliassime appeared confused before turning to his box and struggling. Medvedev then turned away and packed his bags as Lahyani announced his retirement.

“Ladies and gentlemen, due to illness, Mr. Medvedev cannot continue. Auger-Aliassime wins by 6-3, retirement,” the chair umpire said.

“I didn’t notice anything,” commentator Arvind Palmer remarked, while Lee Goodall said his retirement had “taken us all by surprise.”

Palmer added: “I don’t think they even shook hands, did they?” And Goodall replied: “Scratching my head here. Did not see that coming. Like you say, I don’t think there was even a handshake, was there? Just put the racket away and off he went.”

It’s the second time this week that Auger-Aliassime has benefitted from a retirement. The world No. 23 got a walkover into the quarter-final when Hamad Medjedovic pulled out of the tournament after injuring himself during his opening win against Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Auger-Aliassime will now face fifth seed Andrey Rublev for a spot in the final. The world No. 23 later addressed Medvedev’s retirement, explaining that the Russian didn’t want to shake hands at risk of spreading his illness.

“I didn’t notice. I didn’t know. I guess he was hiding it well because it was impossible for me to know that he was not feeling great,” he said.

“I think it was something to do with illness, which, you know, that’s why I think he didn’t, well he said on the court he didn’t want to shake my hand or the umpire’s hand in case of a virus, so I understand that.”

In a statement, Medvedev confirmed he had food poisoning. “Unfortunately I had food poisoning. Very disappointed to end my run here in Doha like this as I feel like I was playing well. I look forward to coming back next year,” he said.

  • Lee Brice Unpacks The Powerful Meaning Behind ‘Cry,’ Teases His ‘Best Record’ Yet [Exclusive]

Lee Brice Unpacks The Powerful Meaning Behind ‘Cry,’ Teases His ‘Best Record’ Yet [Exclusive]

Brice is currently on his You, Me & My Guitar Tour.

Lee Brice is sending a powerful message with his new single, “Cry,” as he reminds everyone—particularly men—that it’s not only okay to show your emotions, but it’s oftentimes necessary.

When it comes to breakup anthems and love songs, Brice has proved his ability to sing from all the different perspectives of those in relationships. In doing so, he gives listeners an outlet to express what they’re feeling and help put their thoughts into words.

He explained to Country Now that while he initially saw many of his heartfelt songs like “Hard to Love” and “I Don’t Dance,” as being “for the girls,” he quickly discovered that many guys have also connected with them. Now, with “Cry,” he’s leaning into the sentiment that guys also need emotive anthems to navigate their tough moments in life, especially breakups.

“That’s obviously an important message to be able to show you feelings because [if] you keep ’em all held in, you never know,” Brice shared. “I’ve always loved both sides of the equation. ‘Hard To Love’ or ‘I Don’t Dance’ or something like that, I’ve always looked at it like this was for the girls, but it’s also for the dudes. So I’ll be singing ‘I Don’t Dance’ and the girls will be going, ‘oh my God, it’s my wedding song’ or whatever. And the guy’s like, ‘yeah, it’s my wedding song, man.’ They’re the ones out there really digging it.”

He continued, “And sometimes songs are just one or the other. My biggest things in my life, in my career, have been the ones that really walk the line. Like, there’s sensitive songs that a guy might not know how to say, and I hopefully give ’em a vehicle for how they can say it and they’re like, ‘yes, thank you. That was perfect, man.’”

    Brice Instantly Connected With “Cry”

    Lee Brice; Cry

    Lee Brice; Cry

“Cry” was penned by Ben Hayslip, David Garcia and Dallas Davidson, who also happens to be a close friend of Brice’s. The South Carolina native recalls inviting Davidson over to the studio to help him decipher which songs to include on his next record out of the 25-30 tunes he had already recorded. The conversation eventually turned into Davidson discussing a new song he had written that was potentially going to be recorded by the GRAMMY nominated artist, Teddy Swims. Brice instantly fell in love with the track and offered up the idea to record it as a duet with Swims.

Although the collaboration didn’t work out due to scheduling conflicts, Brice got to bring the tune to life on his own.

“[There was] just really something about it. I loved the simple twist of it says cry, you’re thinking you’re going to hear some sad thing, and it is just not. It’s so Dallas, it’s so us guys that aren’t afraid to, in a real thing, aren’t afraid to show some emotion. We might be tough old rednecks, but we got hearts,” he pointed out.
The multi-Platinum Curb Records recording artist felt so drawn to the ‘50s doo wop sound that Davidson had created on the demo that he decided to keep that same vibe while adding a modern twist. This nostalgic spirit of the tune combined with the upbeat tempo allows listeners of any generation to feel captivated by Brice’s gritty vocals.

“I wanted to get it just right. Sometimes it’s hard to walk a line between going to do something classic like a ‘50s doo wop, but you still got to put your own kind of spin on it and then also just something for the kids to listen to where they still like it,” he explained.

    Watch The Brand-New Music Video

That groovy retro sound is further elevated in the “Cry” music video. Directed by Chase Lauer, the footage finds Brice taking on the responsibility of helping a heartbroken guy mend his relationship with the girl who still had a tight grip on his heart.

“It was so much fun, honestly. I usually love to get in and either come up with the idea, the treatment for the video or lean on Chase or Ryan and let them kind of come up with something and then [I] kind of get in it with ’em and we all finish it together and then shoot the video. But this time, man, Chase came to me with this whole idea for this video and I was like, I would’ve never dreamed of something like that. I mean, I just wouldn’t, that’s just not where my brain goes,” Brice said, praising Lauer’s work.

He put his trust in the director, and it paid off because the video takes the story and brings it to life in a way that isn’t too cheesy or far from being authentic to a real-life breakup experience. It captures the compelling nature of the narrative, but in a more lighthearted nature.

“I went with it, and we went and had, first of all, had a blast, and then second of all, the video, I just feel like it was so cool. I mean, I think you like the song when you hear it, [but] I think you like the song even better when you see the video. It’s just so kind of quirky and fun,” he admitted.

In the opening scene, Brice sits with a heartbroken man who, after experiencing a tough breakup, enlists the country star to express his emotions through song. From there, Brice follows the girl around, performing his new single at her work, at her home, anywhere she was, just trying and get her to listen. Finally, the message of the song sinks in, leading her to give her heartbroken ex a call.

“I’ve been cryin’ in my beer, cryin’ in my bed/ Cryin’ on the pillow where you used to lay your head/ I’ma cry myself to sleep tonight/ Who says a man don’t cry?” Brice delivers on the impactful chorus.

New Album And More Collaborations On The Horizon

Even though Teddy Swims did not end up on the initial recording of “Cry,” Lee Brice hinted that both artists are “still open” to a future collaborative version. If this duet comes to fruition, it will mark one of several that could appear on Brice’s forthcoming album, which he explained has been two years in the making.

“My goal is every time is to hopefully top what I did the last time before. I’m always wanting to improve and get better at writing and better at making records and better just all of it. And that’s what I was really a little unsure [about]. I was like, God, how am I going to beat this last record? And then even just song quality…it just kept coming together. Now I’m sitting here, honestly today and this week, I’ll be hopefully turning in everything and [putting] masters on. So I’m finally done with it, basically. And I am just over the moon about it.”

Getting In The Studio With Diamond Rio

Much like his past projects, fans can expect to see a variety of different musical influences and a broad range of sounds, from rocking country anthems to deep ballads. Plus, he teased an “extremely special” collaboration with the beloved country band, Diamond Rio.

“I grew up hearing Diamond Rio, so we have them on it. It’s a really special song to me in the first place and so it just needed something specific and something special on it. And we were struggling to try to find this sort of, we couldn’t really put our finger on what it was. We said, you know what? It needs like that old Diamond Rio guitar sound, just the guitar sound and his name is Jimmy [Olander], who played all that guitar on those records. And we called and he said, ‘yeah, glad to.’ And I was like, ‘dude, why don’t we just ask the whole band?’ I’m like a humongous fan of all of them. So we got Diamond Rio, the whole deal, on the song and it’s really special. It’s called “Heart Pine (The Ballad of Mr. Bill).”

“I feel like it’ll be the best record I’ve ever made for sure,” he added.

You, Me & My Guitar Tour Is Officially Underway

Lee Brice is fresh off the launch of his highly anticipated intimate acoustic tour, dubbed the You, Me & My Guitar Tour. The trek kicked off January 30 in Wilkes-Barre, PA and will find the country star bringing the stories behind his songs to life on stages throughout March, including a must-see performance at Nashville’s iconic Ryman Auditorium on February 18th.

Brice admitted he was nervous to get back in front of a crowd and perform all by himself for two hours, but upon his first show back, his hesitancy was replaced by pure excitement.

“It was awesome. We had three shows and they were all really good. I feel like I kind got every little thing kind of ironed out as much as it’s going to be ironed out by the last show this weekend. So we’re looking forward to keep doing it…It’s really special. And it’s been one of my favorite things. It’s really even rejuvenated me with just music in general and being a musician and being on the road and all the things. It really brought back a lot of energy and joy. Sometimes you can get a little blurred and get a little just stagnant if you just keep doing the same thing over and over. And this was a really cool thing and [it’s] been magic for me.”

“Quite selfish of Venus Williams to ask for a wildcard” “This is ridiculous!” – Fans react to American receiving Indian Wells wildcard

Serena Williams’ elder sister and fellow American tennis great Venus Williams has received a wildcard entry for next month’s BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. The 44-year-old’s return after a lengthy absence sparked a wave of reactions from tennis fans.

Venus Williams has been out of action for almost a year, causing her ranking to drop to 974th. Her last WTA Tour-level appearance was at the 2024 Miami Open, where she fell in the first round. Following an injury-ridden 30th season on the WTA Tour in 2023, she received wildcard entries for the 2024 BNP Paribas Open and Miami Open.

Apart from the seven-time Major champion, the tournament granted a wildcard entry to Petra Kvitová. The two-time Wimbledon champion announced earlier this month that she would return to tennis after giving birth to her first child in July.

Several fans reacted to the news of Venus Williams’ return, with one fan criticizing the decision, writing:

“It’s actually quite selfish of her to ask for a wildcard,” they wrote.

“She should let younger people play..this is ridiculous!,” another said.

In response to Venus Williams’ comeback, a fan suggested granting wildcard entries to tennis legends Chris Evert and Martina Hingis as well.

“maybe they should bring back Chrissy and Martina…”great news for tennis”???” They said.

Another fan playfully compared Williams’ comeback to boxing legend Mike Tyson’s return to the ring, sharing a GIF.

    “Venus Williams in 2025”

Here are a few more reactions from the fans:

“Love to see Venus win it all and shut all these comments up!” A fan commented.

“First round exit,” another chimed in.

Venus Williams shares a notable history with the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. She and her sister, Serena, boycotted the tournament for nearly 15 years following a controversial incident in 2001. Just before their scheduled semifinal match, Venus withdrew due to a knee injury.

The seven-time Major champion watched from the stands alongside her father, Richard Williams, as her sister faced Kim Clijsters in the final. However, Venus was met with jeers from the crowd and faced a similar reception during Serena Williams’ victory celebration.

The hostile reception led the sisters to boycott the tournament for years. While Serena returned in 2015, Venus did so in 2016, ending a 15-year absence.

Venus, a four-time semifinalist at the WTA 1000 event in Indian Wells, will aim for a similar run in the 2025 edition.

Jackson, also a talented rapper, was candid about feeling ‘heavy’ due to a large burden of expectations and judgment. However, she is hell-bent on breaking barriers of opinions and moving forward at her own pace by having a monopoly over her decisions.

Ohanian is often seen supporting female athletes and is also a staunch believer in providing women in sports more visibility than they are given. Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian have always looked for ways to better the condition of women in sports. As an act in that direction, Ohanian last year donated to UVA in their women’s basketball program so that more women could be involved in the sport without thinking about the monetary constraints.

“You see today’s women’s athletes are hungry, they’re motivated. People are realizing why women’s sports are so compelling and worth investment. It makes business sense,” he said (via ESPN).

The tech mogul and Serena Williams have also invested in the NWSL team Angel City FC, which became the tournament’s most valuable franchise earlier this year. He also started his passion project, Athlos, the first-of-its-kind all-women’s track and field meet.

The event saw immense success due to the largest prize purse offered in the sport. The couple always look for ways to make the world a better place for their daughters, Olympia and Adira.

Iga Swiatek has spoken out after a spectator was ejected from Emma Raducanu’s second-round match in Dubai on Tuesday night.

The world No. 2 revealed that she avoided her own “scary” fan incident, and said she already takes measures to ensure her safety.

It comes after the WTA confirmed that a man who exhibited “fixated behaviour” with Raducanu was removed from the match and banned from future WTA tournaments.

Raducanu suddenly became distressed after playing two games of her second-round match against Karolina Muchova and approached the umpire while crying.

The WTA later confirmed that a man who was “fixated” on Raducanu was seen in the first few rows of the stands and had to be removed.

“On Monday, February 17, Emma Raducanu was approached in a public area by a man who exhibited fixated behaviour,” a statement from the women’s tour read.

“This same individual was identified in the first few rows during Emma’s match on Tuesday at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and subsequently ejected. He will be banned from all WTA events pending a threat assessment.”

Express Sport understands Raducanu is ok. And Swiatek has now commented on the incident, admitting she once avoided a potentially threatening encounter.

“We were able to avoid one, like, incident that might have been scary back in the day when I was hosting my own event in Poland,” the five-time Major winner said after reaching the quarter-final in Dubai.

“Yeah, there are fans that are kind of, I don’t know, everywhere. But I’m pretty sure that they don’t have any bad intentions.

“Obviously, you know, we are public persons, so we should always keep our eyes open and ready to react if we feel uncomfortable. I’m sure it must have been tough for Emma.”

While she didn’t see the incident or the match on Tuesday, Swiatek said she supported the measures taken by the WTA. She added: “I know the WTA banned this person from going on-site anywhere on any tournament. So I guess the reaction was pretty solid.

“I like that because it’s WTA’s kind of responsibility to keep us safe, for that environment to be safe for us. I guess with their help it’s fine. But, yeah, it’s hard probably to avoid these situations before.”

The world No. 2 has also been taking measures to protect herself on social media – refraining from posting her location in real-time. “I try for my Instagram feed to be up to date and everything,” she said.

“But yeah, sometimes we are posting one day after I left someplace or just after, I don’t know, the event and everything.

“On the other hand it’s kind of natural anyway because then you have photos to post. I guess it’s all about the timing and also if I stay in a nice hotel and I know that I’m going to be there for a longer time, it’s also nice for this hotel to be ready to accommodate us in a way that it’s safe, getting some, I don’t know, different entrance, yeah.

“But it all depends on the situation, I guess. Usually people are helpful with that because they understand that I’m in a situation where I’m kind of exposed.”

Djokovic was last seen competing in the Dubai Tennis Championships, where he lost to Matteo Berrettini in the first round. Despite a resilient effort against the Italian, he was eliminated in straight sets, 7-6(4), 6-2.

The 37-year-old put his recent loss behind him and shared a cool throwback picture with Nikola Jokic. He wished Jokic a happy birthday and referred to him as the second ‘Djoker’ on his Instagram account.

“From one Djoker to another, screcan rodendan (Serbian phrase that means happy birthday),” Novak Djokovic said

“He’s huge. He’s one of the best athletes we’ve ever had in the history of Serbian sport. Novak Djokovic entered the Qatar Open on the back of a semifinal exit at the Australian Open. After solid wins over Jiri Lehecka and Carlos Alcaraz, he was forced to retire against Alexander Zverev due to a knee injury.

Making his fifth appearance in Doha, the former champion was outdone in one hour and 33 minutes by Matteo Berrettini. He complimented the Italian for his impeccable all around game and dismissed any major fitness problems as a reason for his loss.

“I didn’t have any pain or discomfort in that sense. I was outplayed by just a better player today. Yes, I wasn’t at my desired level, and it could be that I’m still not moving the way I want to move, but, I mean, I played without pain, so there is no excuse in that,” said Djokovic during a press conference on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old lost to the Italian for the first time in their five meetings on tour. He felt Berrettini deserved the win on Tuesday.

“He was just the better player. I think he played a master class match, to be honest, tactically, and served very well, so just a very deserved win from his side,” Djokovic added

While Djokovic is yet to confirm his participation, he could return to action at the Dubai Tennis Championships. The ATP 500 event will begin on February 24, 2025.

Emma Raducanu has broken her silence after being targeted by a man showing “fixated behaviour” at the Dubai Tennis Championships.

Raducanu was seen visibly distressed and in tears during her second-round match against Karolina Muchova before approaching the chair umpire.

The WTA later confirmed that a man had approached Raducanu the day before and was spotted in the stands of Raducanu’s match.

Reports have claimed Raducanu was handed a letter at her hotel in Dubai on Monday, but it isn’t believed to be the same person who was given a five-year restraining order for stalking her in 2022.

Posting on Instagram, the Brit said: “Thank you for the messages of support. Difficult experience yesterday (Tuesday) but I’ll be okay and proud of how I came back and competed despite what happened at the start of the match.

“Thank you to Karolina [Muchova] for being a great sport and best of luck to her for the rest of the tournament.”

The statement was accompanied by a photo of what appears to be a coffee with love-heart latte art and a paper journal with “Emma” on the cover.

Raducanu lost 6-7 (6-8), 4-6 to Muchova but certainly gave as good as she got in the tight defeat.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the WTA read: “On Monday, February 17, Emma Raducanu was approached in a public area by a man who exhibited fixated behaviour.

“This same individual was identified in the first few rows during Emma’s match on Tuesday at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and subsequently ejected. He will be banned from all WTA events pending a threat assessment.

“Player safety is our top priority, and tournaments are advised on security best practices for international sporting events.

“The WTA is actively working with Emma and her team to ensure her well-being and provide any necessary support.

“We remain committed to collaborating with tournaments and their security teams worldwide to maintain a safe environment for all players.”

The Lawn Tennis Association were quick to show their support for Raducanu, insisting she has the full support of the organisation.

In a statement given to Sky Sports, they said: “This incident once again highlights issues around safety that all players, but female players in particular, can face.

“We have support available for British players and have been in contact with Emma and her team following the events in Dubai. We have extensive security arrangements at our events in Britain and keep these under constant review.

“The tours have strong processes in place already and we will continue to work together along with police and security providers to deal with situations like this robustly.”
