Giannis Antetokounmpo Shines with Triple-Double as Bucks Defeat Kings 130-115!

Just two nights after suffering their worst loss of the season, the Milwaukee Bucks bounced back with a 130-115 win against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night at Fiserv Forum.

Milwaukee began with an impressive performance, racking up 47 points in the first quarter—a season high for any quarter—and reached 75 points by halftime, nearly matching their best for the season. The Bucks seized control of the game with a dominant 21-2 run in the opening quarter.

  • “I’m putting him ahead of Jordan, ahead of LeBron” – Dan Le Batard thinks he can make an argument for Nikola Jokic as the GOAT

“I’m putting him ahead of Jordan, ahead of LeBron” – Dan Le Batard thinks he can make an argument for Nikola Jokic as the GOAT

Every now and then in the NBA, someone emerges who can rightfully challenge widely recognized Michael Jordan’s GOAT status. Whether it’s the unmatched work ethic and resemblance to MJ that Kobe Bryant brought, the quiet dominance in every facet of the game by Tim Duncan, or, as has been increasingly mentioned recently, the longevity and ability to stay on top of the Association’s food chain that LeBron James has demonstrated.

    michael-jordan-lebron-james-and-nikola-jokic

It’s also important to mention the legends before Jordan as potential contenders for the title of the greatest of all time. However, one name we definitely haven’t heard in this always fiery debate is that of Nikola Jokic.

Well, that is until now, when a well-known American sports journalist and media personality, Dan Le Batard, placed him at the top of his list.

“I believe that I can summon the argument and not get too much argument for either one of you that Jokic is the best basketball player that has ever been. I’m putting him ahead of Jordan, ahead of LeBron,” the renowned sports writer claimed in his appearance on the OGs podcast. “Just because the numerical efficiencies he is doing are unseen in the history of the game. I Understand he moves like a giant loaf of bread, I understand that we underestimate the things that he might do, because athletically he doesn’t seem like he is that gifted…”

Why Dan Le Batard believes Nikola Jokic is the GOAT - Basketball Network - Your daily dose of basketball

    From zero to hero

As we already know, “The Joker” was the 11th pick of the second round (41st overall), and during his selection, a Taco Bell commercial was aired. However, despite the fact that he wasn’t a highly touted prospect and that his physical fitness often doesn’t stand out in a league of hyper-athletic all-around players, Nikola became a three-time MVP and led his Denver Nuggets to their first franchise NBA Championship in 2023.

And considering that the league today, whether we want to admit it or not, often focuses on statistics and all kinds of metrics that show how good a player really is, Jokic, by Player Efficiency Rating, clears everyone in the history of the game.

PER is a basketball metric developed by former Memphis Grizzlies Vice President of Basketball Operations John Hollinger in the 1990s. It aims to measure a player’s productivity and overall impact on the game in one number. Over the last decade, it has become widely used in advanced basketball analytics and has earned the nickname “the godfather stat.”

'Completely unstoppable' - Stunning Nikola Jokic stat proves Nuggets star is most impactful player in NBA history - above MJ | talkSPORT

Metrics go in favor of Jokic

If we take a quick glance at the NBA/ABA PER leaders, the Serbian native sits at the top with 28.33. Behind him are the two players whom many consider 1A and 1B when it comes to the GOAT debate, Mike and Bron, with 27.91 and 26.97, respectively. Although numbers aren’t everything in this case, they paint a good picture of how dominant “The Joker” really is, despite his unassuming looks and nonchalant attitude.

Additionally, the Nuggets center is aiming for his 4th MVP title in just a five-year span, averaging a career-high in points per game (31.2) and posting the second-best averages in rebounds (13.2) and assists (9.8). We’ve grown accustomed to Jokic flirting with triple-double averages every campaign, but this elite efficiency is what truly sets him apart from his peers.

While many will criticize Le Batard’s take, in this case, patience is a virtue, and we’ll have to wait to see how the rest of the 6’11” center’s career unfolds before we can throw GOAT labels at his name.

  • NBA commissioner Adam Silver vows to fix 3-point shooting issue: ‘We are on it’

NBA commissioner Adam Silver vows to fix 3-point shooting issue: ‘We are on it’

The leve of talent in the NBA is as high as its ever been, but questions have emerged this season on how to make the game more aesthetically pleasing in the wake of ratings leaving much to be desired when compared to other American sports.

Adam Silver says NBA examining increase in 3-point shooting

Could one of those changes be an adjustment to the 3-point line in an effort to bring down scoring?

NBA commissioner Adam Silver appeared on Wednesday’s edition of “The Herd,” explaining the league’s position on potentially moving the 3-point line.

“I recognize that to the extent that offenses start to look very similar, we lose [distinct team identities],” Silver told host Colin Cowherd. “At the same time, the league is going through a transformation. Players like Victor Wembanyama, players like [Nikola] Jokic are doing things big men never did historically. It wasn’t that long ago that the conversations you had with [former commissioner] David Stern, we would bemoan the lack of skill among some players, that there was a sense there was too much physicality around the game.

“I don’t want to sort of knee-jerk move the 3-point line. We’re sort of going through a process now, seeing how these players are adapting to the new rules and figuring out whatever changes we should make.”

NBA commissioner Adam Silver vows to fix 3-point shooting issue: ‘We are on it’

“I think the fact that now we’re selling competition in every market and from a television standpoint, too, whether it’s Oklahoma City, whether it’s San Antonio, whether it’s Salt Lake City, that those teams are in a position, when well managed, to compete in the same way the large markets can.”

The Celtics, Nuggets, Warriors, Bucks, Lakers and Toronto Raptors make up the previous six NBA champions. That six-year run comes at the end of the Warriors winning four championships in eight seasons and the teams that James played on winning four titles in nine seasons (Miami Heat twice, and Cavaliers and Lakers once).

Adam Silver has heard concerns about the volume of three-pointers NBA players are taking and he plans to make change.

During a Wednesday appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, the host asked Silver about the phenomenon and the commissioner claimed changes are coming to address it.

“As stewards of the game, Joe Dumars leads our competition committee here, we will tweak it, we will correct those issues,” Silver said.

He continued, “What do we do to change it? I agree to the extent that you start to see very similar offenses around the league. Teams have brands, teams have identities, Joe Dumars is a colleague now at the league office, the Bad Boys, etc… the Showtime Lakers. So, I recognize that to the extent that offenses start to look very similar, we lose that.”

He did add that the NBA can’t go too far and overcorrect, which could lead to plodding paint-focused basketball.

As an example, this season the Boston Celtics are taking a league-high 49.4 three-pointers a game and making only 36.2% of them. They are averaging 90.8 field goals per game, meaning 54.4% of their shots are coming from beyond the arc.

  • Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo makes NBA history with triple-double over Kings

Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo makes NBA history with triple-double over Kings

The Milwaukee Bucks have been desperately searching for some sort of consistency; the Bucks have been playing .500 basketball ever since winning the 2024 NBA Cup, and this is not the level they want to play at considering their lofty championship ambitions.

On Tuesday night, the Bucks played host to a surging team in the Sacramento Kings, and this game easily could have gone sideways for a Milwaukee team that’s still searching for answers. But thanks in large part to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s dominance, the Bucks went ahead and took a 130-115 victory that wasn’t as close as the final score would suggest.

Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo makes NBA history with triple-double over Kings

The Kings simply had no answers for Antetokounmpo; the Bucks star feasted on Sacramento’s soft interior defense and put them to the sword, and in the process, he recorded his fifth triple-double of the season. tallying 33 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists. And in so doing, Antetokounmpo made his way into an exclusive club that only 12 players in NBA history are a part of.

According to the official NBA account on X (formerly Twitter), the Bucks star became just the 12th player in NBA history to record 50 or more triple-doubles in their career.

Among active players, Antetokounmpo ranks seventh in total career triple-doubles with his 50th coming against the Kings on Tuesday night. He is behind the likes of Russell Westbrook (202), Nikola Jokic (145), LeBron James (120), Luka Doncic (80), James Harden (78), and Domantas Sabonis (63), although the Bucks star has a long way to go before he catches up to any of them considering that those players are not yet done stuffing stat sheets.

Antetokounmpo gets 50th career triple-double as Bucks win 130-115 to end Kings' 7-game win streak

Antetokounmpo is one of the most dominant forces the league has ever seen, and this just goes to show how far his game has come beyond his excellence in the field of running and dunking. The Bucks better capitalize on his brilliance before it’s too late.

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s MVP-caliber season is getting lost in the shuffle of the Bucks’ middling 2024-25 campaign

    © Benny Sieu-Imagn Images

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been playing at an MVP-level for the Bucks all season long; after his dominance against the Kings on Tuesday night, he is now averaging 31.5 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per contest this season — numbers that should put him in contention for an MVP award.

Alas, the Bucks have not played good enough basketball as a team for Antetokounmpo to warrant such consideration in this regard. If anything, Antetokounmpo will be overshadowed by the likes of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander or Nikola Jokic since their respective teams are actually performing better than the Bucks have been.

Topping the Billboard charts with hit singles like “Can’t Even Get the Blues,” “I’m a Survivor,” and “I Don’t Wanna Be a One Night Stand,” Reba McEntire invites Carrie Underwood to the stage to sing her prominent song “Does He Love You” at the Grand Ole Opry on September 22, 2017. This is to celebrate McEntire’s 40th Opry debut anniversary and her humble beginnings with her self-titled debut album released on August 15, 1977.

Written by Sandy Knox and Billy Stritch, the song was originally sung by Reba McEntire with Linda Davis as the first track to McEntire’s Greatest Hits Volume 2 compilation album in 1993.

Sam Amick of The Athletic reports that Jimmy Butler’s representatives have not informed the Milwaukee Bucks that he does not want to play there:

NBA insider Chris Haynes originally reported on Jan. 7 that multiple teams had been told that Butler “has no interest in being traded there” amid his standoff with the Heat. Haynes cited the Memphis Grizzlies specifically, with Yahoo Sports’ Kevin O’Connor adding the Bucks to the group.

Intentionally limiting his pool of teams was a counterproductive approach from Butler, who told Heat president Pat Riley again last week he wants out, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The six-time All-Star’s trade value simply isn’t that high for a player of his caliber, and moving him becomes even more difficult from Miami’s perspective with fewer franchises incentivized to negotiate.

The Magical Moment Bob Dylan and George Harrison Played “If Not for You” Together

How Bob Dylan made George Harrison respect Rap music : r/bobdylan

Bob Dylan’s surprise appearance at The Concert for Bangladesh on August 1, 1971, has become a cherished chapter in rock and roll history. Organized by George Harrison and Ravi Shankar, the concert featured two performances at Madison Square Garden—one in the afternoon at 2:30 p.m. and another in the evening at 8:00 p.m. The event also showcased musical legends like Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, and Leon Russell.

The concert aimed to raise awareness and funds for victims of the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, which displaced millions. The crisis was compounded by devastating floods in the region. The video below captures a magical moment from the final rehearsal and soundcheck on the eve of the performances. Up until that point, Harrison remained unsure if Dylan would even show up, making this collaboration all the more special.

Sorry, the video player failed to load.(Error Code: 104153)

The footage of George Harrison and Bob Dylan playing Dylan’s song If Not for You is remarkable in many ways. Firstly, both Dylan and Harrison had recorded versions of the song (written for Dylan’s first wife Sara) on their most recent albums. Secondly, both artists had not performed in public for some time. Dylan was in semi retirement, had played few shows since 1966, none in the preceding two years, and was reluctant to commit to his friend Harrison’s benefit concert.

George Harrison had his own Bob Dylan bootlegs

Mostly the footage is notable for the chemistry between Dylan and Harrison. Neither was relaxed – Dylan had serious reservations and Harrison was setting up a major event – even so the respect between the artists is clear. Bob Dylan almost seems to be holding back, taking the lead from Harrison on his own song. Dylan was of course aware that his phrasing is not conventional. Dylan fans might be reminded of the Cash/Dylan sessions, where Dylan and Cash amiably negotiate their way through songs.

Even after Bob Dylan turned up for the rehearsal for The Concert For Bangladesh, George Harrison was not confident that Dylan would make the actual shows. The night before, after the rehearsal, Dylan had reiterated his aversion to the Madison Square Gardens scene. Speaking to Anthony DeCurtis in 1987, Harrison spoke of Dylan’s appearance at the afternoon show: “And I looked around, and he was so nervous, he had his guitar on and his shades, he was sort of coming on, coming. It was only at that moment that I knew for sure he was going to do it.” Allegedly, the audience was totally astonished by Dylan’s arrival.

Dylan played five songs, not including If Not For You: A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall, Blowin’ in the Wind, It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry, Love Minus Zero/No Limit and Just Like a Woman. For the evening show, Dylan adjusted the song order and substituted Mr Tambourine Man for the excellent Love Minus Zero. Dylan’s sets at both shows went down a treat. Years later, Harrison told Rolling Stone that Bob Dylan was so happy after the concerts that he picked Harrison up and hugged him, saying “God! If only we’d done three shows!”

Restored Footage of Bob Dylan Rehearsing 'If Not For You' With George Harrison in 1971

Record company obstruction meant that the release of The Concert For Bangladesh triple album was delayed. Worse, the funds were only released to charities some years later, for the same reason. Nonetheless the precedent set by The Concert for Bangladesh, and the lessons learned, paved the way for subsequent major fundraising concerts like Live Aid.

Finally, a little treat for those intrigued by the way in which the future Travelling Wilburys compatriots pitched their vocals in the 1971 rehearsal take of If Not For You. Here is George Harrison singing If Not For You in a distinctly Dylanish style for Bob Dylan’s 30th Anniversary Concert, 1992:

On Sunday, police arrested a man accused of stalking the WNBA superstar, and the details are quite disturbing.

A Texas man sent sexually violent messages from his X account to Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark and then drove to Indianapolis, according to court documents.

“Been driving around your house 3x a day,” he messaged her, referring to Gainbridge Fieldhouse. “But don’t call the law just yet.”

Michael Thomas Lewis of Denton, Texas, is charged with one count of stalking, threatening sexual battery or death, a Level 5 felony.

    He was arrested on Sunday.

So, how does Jemel Hill fit into this situation>

Back in September 2024, Hill posted a lengthy rant on X where she stated that Clark doesn’t face the same “hate” that black women in the WNBA face.

“I don’t like to play the oppression Olympics, but…has CC had to delete her social media accounts? No, but her teammate Aliyah Boston did,” Hill wrote in the since-deleted tweet.

“CC has given out a few hard shots herself, talked trash, jawed with the refs, and yet anytime she is subjected to physical play, a hard foul, or trash talk, opposing players are absolutely villainized.

“She is not constantly subjected to racial slurs, and whatever hate she does experience, she is not told to toughen up or that her feelings don’t matter. She is not subjected to both sides-ism, nor are people trying to justify any hate against her.”

Now, Caitlin Clark remains the only player in the league that has had to have a man arrested for stalking and threatening her.

It should be noted that several Chicago Sky players, including Angel Reese, claimed that a man “harassed” them and used racial slurs during an alleged incident in June.

It does not appear that law enforcement was called, and no evidence of this incident was ever found.

Reese most certainly gets harassed online, and a simple search of her name can bring some of the most vile things people could say to someone else.

George Strait, often called the “King of Country,” has been a staple of American country music for decades. His song Heartland stands as a testament to his unparalleled ability to capture the essence of the American spirit. Released in 1992 as part of his album Pure CountryHeartland not only became a fan favorite but also reinforced Strait’s image as a true country legend.

The song Heartland is an ode to the values that define rural America: love for the land, resilience, and deep-rooted pride in one’s heritage. Its lyrics paint vivid pictures of wide-open spaces, hard work, and the unbreakable bonds that tie individuals to the land they call home. George Strait’s deep, soothing voice carries the weight of these emotions, effortlessly weaving a narrative of strength, determination, and nostalgia.

The power of Heartland lies in its simplicity. The song isn’t about flashy production or complex arrangements. Instead, it allows the story to shine through, much like the heart of country music itself. The lyrics resonate with anyone who has ever worked the land, cherished family values, or found comfort in the traditions of small-town life.

What makes Heartland particularly unique is its blend of classic country instrumentation—fiddle, steel guitar, and twangy electric guitar—with a timeless message. The track serves as a reminder of the roots of country music, where storytelling and emotional connection take center stage.

George Strait’s ability to remain relevant in the ever-evolving country music scene speaks volumes about his enduring appeal. Heartland is more than just a song; it’s an anthem for all who feel connected to the land and the values it represents. In a world constantly shifting, Strait’s music continues to remind us of the importance of staying grounded, no matter where life takes us.

In many ways, Heartland is a reflection of George Strait himself. A man of few words, Strait’s music speaks volumes through its authenticity, sincerity, and emotional depth. With Heartland, he doesn’t just sing about the heart of the country—he embodies it.

3 Best George Strait Songs About Being A Parent

George Strait has sung about nearly everything under the sun during his long and trailblazing career. He always gets it right, which is why he deserves the designation “King of Country.” At 72, Strait is truly the reigning royalty of country music.

Of all the poignant subjects he has handled in his songs, parenthood is one of the most tender and perennially meaningful. We selected three examples so you can see how adept he is at passionately articulating the myriad joys, sorrows, and challenges of being a parent.

Many suspect that this memorable song filled with gentle love, which was written by Aaron Barker, is one that George Strait sang in honor of his late, beloved daughter, Jenifer Lynn. She lost her life at the age of 13 in a tragic car accident in San Marcos, Texas, in 1986, per savingcountrymusic.com. Jenifer was riding a a vehicle with three other teens. The car flipped and ended up in a ditch. Everyone else survived. Sadly, Jenifer did not.

For Strait and his family, it was an unbelievably devastating, soul-crushing blow. The song eventually became a number 1 hit. Per the outlet, “Though it has never been officially confirmed, it is believed George Strait recorded and sang the song in memory of his daughter Jenifer.” Despite his soaring career and the song’s success, I’m sure that nothing could ever possibly compensate for the loss of Strait’s cherished little girl.

    ‘Love Without End, Amen’ (1990)

This song has a beautiful and eternally pertinent message – namely, that a dad’s love of his child is unconditional. There are no strings attached. No matter how badly a father’s kid errs, there will always be compassion, acceptance, understanding, empathy, and caring in store. As the lyrics say, “It’s a love without end, amen.” The song resonated big-time with listeners. It perched atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for five impressive weeks. Another impeccable George Strait gem.

‘So Much Like My Dad’ (1992)

Willie Nelson recorded this song a few years before George Strait got to it. Nevertheless, Strait hit this one right out of the ballpark. It describes a young man’s return home to seek advice from his mom. His gal is on the verge of quitting him, and he is desperate to have her stick around. So he turns to his mother and asks her plaintively, “…tell me word for word what he [Dad] said that always made you stay….” Artfully co-written by Bobby Emmons and Chips Moman, this tune celebrates the precious wisdom of a parent and how a child, despite their age, always relies upon it.
