Reba McEntire Sobs As Former ‘Voice’ Winner Sings Song He Wrote For Her

Reba McEntire’s former The Voice protege, Asher HaVon performed an emotional tribute to her during Tuesday night’s Season 26 finale.

    The Voice/Facebook

Country star Reba McEntire is bidding adieu to The Voice after coaching for three seasons. She hasn’t stated a reason for her departure, but as any longtime fan of the show knows, there’s always a chance she’ll come back. Many coaches have taken a year (or years) off and returned for subsequent seasons.

During her three-year run on The Voice, Reba’s team took home the title once with Asher HaVon during Season 25.

Asher returned to The Voice during Tuesday night’s season finale to perform a song he wrote for his former coach called “Thank You.” He teased his appearance ahead of time saying, “It’s an incredible honor to perform my single ‘Thank You’ live for the amazing Reba McEntire. This moment holds a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait to step back onto the stage that made my dreams come true.”

In an Instagram post shared two weeks prior to the live performance, Havon shared a heartfelt message to Reba and the story behind the song dedication.

Reba McEntire couldn’t hold back her tears as she watched Asher sing.

Fans watching thought that it was the first time Reba had heart “Thank You,” but that wasn’t the case. HaVon released the song in November and Reba said in an interview with ExtraTV last week that she “sat there crying” while listening to his recording.

“What a great tribute. He’s such a special person, inside and out,” Reba told the outlet. “For him to do what he did on The Voice last season was unbelievable … I’m so proud of him and that song meant the world to me.”

Reba was equally emotional as she watched Asher sing Tuesday night. Tears poured down her face as she listened, and could barely speak when Carson Daly asked her what it was like to hear Asher sing that song.

“I don’t know. I can’t talk right now,” Reba said through tears as her fellow coach, Snoop Dogg, brought her tissue. “Nobody’s ever done that before. It was very, very special. Asher wrote that song and he wanted to say that you. What a better way to do it … with his beautiful voice. He’s just magnificent. I just love him with all my heart.”

Angel Reese Fans Furious Over ESPN Ratings as She Misses Out on Top 10, Caitlin Clark Secures 2nd Spot

The ESPN ratings have caused a massive uproar recently after Angel Reese, a standout player in women’s basketball, was left off the prestigious top 10 list. Fans, in particular, were quick to voice their frustration as they felt Reese’s remarkable performance deserved far more recognition.

Known for her incredible talent and athleticism, Reese has captivated basketball enthusiasts throughout the season, but this exclusion from the rankings left many of her supporters scratching their heads. They took to social media platforms, expressing their disappointment and demanding an explanation from the sports network for what they saw as a major oversight.

    1739204401214

Adding fuel to the fire, Caitlin Clark, another dominant player in the women’s basketball arena, claimed the second spot on the list, which, while impressive, didn’t sit well with Reese’s followers. Many believed that Clark, while undeniably a strong player, should not have surpassed Reese, especially considering the latter’s dominant performances on the court.

Reese’s fans argue that her impact on games has been undeniable, and the fact that she was omitted from such a highly regarded ranking feels unjust to them. They feel Reese’s skillset and contributions to her team this season have been underappreciated.

The debate over the ESPN rankings also highlighted broader concerns about how female athletes, particularly in basketball, are represented and ranked in the media. Fans of Angel Reese believe that the network’s failure to acknowledge her achievements is part of a larger trend of neglecting the incredible talent that exists in women’s sports.

They argue that Reese has not only been a key player but has also become a major figure in growing the popularity of women’s basketball, especially through her on-court performances and strong personality.

In light of the controversy, many are calling for better recognition of players who, like Reese, have been leading the charge to elevate women’s basketball to new heights. While the top 10 rankings are highly debated, it’s clear that Reese’s absence from the list has sparked a larger conversation about fairness, visibility, and respect for women athletes. Supporters of Reese are demanding more equitable treatment and acknowledgment of players who are making significant contributions to the sport.

  • Chennedy Carter Blames Racism After WNBA Snub—Fallout from Caitlin Clark Clash Explodes

Chennedy Carter Blames Racism After WNBA Snub—Fallout from Caitlin Clark Clash Explodes

Chennedy Carter has ignited controversy after claiming racism played a role in her rejection by a WNBA team, following her on-court altercation with Caitlin Clark and accusations of unsportsmanlike play. The fiery guard, known for her aggressive style, was reportedly seeking a new opportunity in the league but faced resistance due to her history of questionable conduct. Carter, who previously made headlines for her physical play against Clark, took to social media to express her frustration, alleging that race was a factor in the decision.

May be an image of 5 people, people playing basketball and text that says 'തലകര LOOKING FOR A JOB BREAKING SHE IS STILL LOOKING FOR A JOB!' e'

The situation stems from Carter’s past clashes with Clark, which included a widely debated incident where she delivered a hard foul that many deemed excessive. Critics labeled her as a “dirty player,” while supporters defended her as simply playing with intensity. However, it appears her reputation has made teams hesitant to offer her a roster spot. Carter’s claims of racial bias have now added another layer to the debate, with some agreeing that Black athletes are scrutinized differently, while others argue that her actions—not her race—are the primary issue.

Fans and analysts remain divided over Carter’s stance, with some accusing her of deflecting accountability. “This isn’t about race—it’s about playing reckless and hurting the league’s image,” one commentator noted. Others, however, see merit in her argument, pointing to a history of Black players facing harsher consequences for similar incidents compared to their white counterparts. “If a different player did the same thing, would the backlash be the same? That’s the real question,” a fan wrote.

While Carter has not specified which team turned her down, speculation has run rampant. Some believe that her public image is now too polarizing for franchises looking to maintain a positive locker room culture. Others argue that the league’s decision-makers are prioritizing marketability, particularly with Clark’s rising stardom drawing record-breaking attention. The WNBA has yet to formally respond to Carter’s claims, but the conversation has sparked intense discussions about race, media narratives, and player treatment within the league.

The messy discourse around Caitlin Clark, Chennedy Carter, and the WNBA, explained | Vox

As Carter continues to voice her frustration, the larger question remains—will any team be willing to give her another chance? With WNBA rosters filling up and training camps approaching, her future in the league remains uncertain. Whether her rejection is truly rooted in bias or simply the consequences of her past actions, one thing is clear: Carter’s remarks have once again thrust the WNBA into the national spotlight.

Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar’s comments quickly drew backlash online, with many criticizing them for mocking the four-year-old over his name.

One said, “Imagine two people who do not use their real names, right Josephine? Then imagine a black Caryn spelled differently but meaning the same! Picking on a child who cannot use a stage name! You two are so ridiculous how you remain on the air is beyond my understanding!”

“A woman named Whoopi really has no business mocking a kid’s name…just sayin’,” a person wrote, with another adding, “Hey @ABC?? Have you become this sick and disgusting that you have to attack children now?”

“She is disgusting, making fun of children, she has now come as low as you can go,” a critic remarked. “Such a pathetic human she is!!” an individual fumed.

“Criticizing kids on the telly is a one way ticket to full-time villainy,” another person declared, while one more asserted, “Children are off limits you unkind person. Will never again watch her movies ever again.”

Clark also claimed that Swift vowed to watch her play for the Fever in person next season, and also invited her to watch a Chiefs game. Clark took Swift up on the offer, but only after rejecting an offer to play in Unrivaled, a new 3-on-3 women’s basketball league co-founded by WNBA stars Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart.

The new league made its debut on Friday, as WNBA stars such as Angel Reese and DiJonai Carrington battled it out. However, Unrivaled made Clark a reported $1 million offer to compete in the eight-week season, but she declined due to wanting a break during the WNBA offseason.

“I didn’t rule out doing it in the future, but this year is just not the best for me,” Clark said. “It’s going to be good for me to do my own thing and have my own space. I kind of want to just stay out of the spotlight.”

Clark left Iowa as a college basketball legend, and after being selected first overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft and dominating in the league, her popularity has reached new heights. Clark may have missed out on the inaugural Unrivaled season, but didn’t appear too upset when hanging out with Swift.

John Legend Made The Voice Audience Gasp While Trolling Kelsea Ballerini

Behold, friends: a lesson in Voice Coach banter from John Legend.

Coach Kelsea Ballerini may be new(ish) to The Voice, but with a decade-long career and a reputation that precedes her, no one’s doubting her ability to get the job done. Fellow Season 27 Coach John Legend found that out the hard way when he tried to troll the country singer-songwriter on her Coach inexperience during the February 10 episode.

John Legend had no chance of recruiting a Kelsea Ballerini fan on The Voice

When High Point, North Carolina singer Tatum Scott took the stage at the Blinds to sing “Vampire” by Olivia Rodrigo, it was almost a done deal that she’d be Team Kelsea. Not only does Scott live and work in Nashville, she was wearing a pair of embellished jeans that Ballerini also owns.

Legend turned his chair, followed by Ballerini, which Legend tried to use to his advantage, calling out his fellow Coach for being “a little late” to hit her button. When that didn’t sway Scott, he added, “Kelsea’s never done this show before. This is just a fact. This is not criticism,” which got a gasp from the audience.

“I listen to Olivia Rodrigo in the car with my daughter. I’m very young and hip,” Legend continued, but Ballerini wasn’t letting Scott go, pointing to her status as the only female Coach in an effort to bond with the Artist. It worked, and Team Kelsea added a new member. “I only have one Artist on my team…I’m on a slump,” admitted Legend.

The other Voice Coaches can’t stop (playfully) teasing Kelsea Ballerini

It’s not just John Legend who enjoys poking fun at the “little sister” of the red chairs. During the first episode of Season 27, Ballerini sent a text between Blind Auditions. Adam Levine took notice and teased in a high-pitched voice, “You’re texting your boyfriend, oo-ooh.”

“Guys, really?” Ballerini snapped, prompting John Legend to say, “She said, ‘Mind your business!’” Is Michael Bublé the only one focused on work?

For context, Kelsea Ballerini has been seeing Outer Banks star Chase Stokes for two years. During a chat on Call Her Daddy, she revealed that she met the actor by sliding into his Instagram DMs. “I’ve never seen his show, but I just knew of him, and I just swan dove right on in…” Ballerini said. “I was ready to open back up. I just felt, why not? I’ve never really dated; I don’t know how it works. I’m like, ‘Let’s just put ourselves out there; let’s just vibe.’ And it’s been fun.”
