Brook Lopez Discusses Play That Makes New Bucks Kyle Kuzma Similar to Giannis Antetokounmpo in 103-101 Win Over Wolves

It would be great if the Milwaukee Bucks can have two Giannis Antetokounmpo. They had none in the win over Minnesota Timberwolves but Brook Lopez thought Kyle Kuzma showed some shades of Greek Freak 2.0.

Lopez did not have his usual front court partner in the gutsy 103-101 win over Minnesota as the latter is recovering from a left calf strain.

There’s one play, however, that remind fans and reporters of the Greek Freak.

When the Greek Freak is in the floor, a transition offense is almost assured as long as they make a stop against the opponent.

Lopez will attempt the deflection and the Antetokounmpo will either ask rebound the ball or ask for it and try to make a run to the other basket. Instant two points.

That’s what Antetokounmpo can do and with him out since February 5, that does not happen a lot. They are missing his 31.8 points per game, his fastbreak points, playmaking, and rebounding.

It was different against the Wolves and Lopez thought Kuzma made the difference.

Reporters singled out that one play by Lopez when he blocked Jaden McDaniels and Kuzma caught the rebound, run it to their ring and scored.

Just like how Giannis does it.

When asked about it post game, Lopez said their new recruit can only add more ways to score for the team.

“I think it’s gonna make all the difference for us. We’ve obviously trended very experienced a lot and Kuz has experience, but he’s also a very energetic player that can get up and down the court quick, and that’s definitely gonna add another dimension to us.”

Kuzma got to play that part only because Antetokounmpo was out. It would be interesting how Doc Rivers will adjust his position once the two-time MVP returns.

George Strait’s Wife, Norma, Is His High School Sweetheart

George and Norma met while they were still in school. The two high school sweethearts dated off and on for a few years before they decided to tie the knot.

They eloped, and married in Mexico on December 4, 1971. They later had a small ceremony in their hometown in Texas.

Shortly after they married, George enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Hawaii. George discovered his love for music during his time in the service. He started playing with a band called Rambling Country, and even got the chance to perform off base.

George received an honorable discharge from the Army in 1975, and he and Norma moved back to Texas. He enrolled at Southwest Texas State University and continued playing music.

After releasing a few independent singles, his debut major label single, “Unwound,” dropped in 1981. It immediately set George on the map in the country music world.

George now has 60 #1 country songs to his name, and Norma has been there to see every one.

Do George & Norma Strait Have Any Children?

George shares two children with Norma. They welcomed their daughter, Jenifer Lynn Strait, in 1972, the year after they married. They welcomed their son, George “Bubba” Strait Jr. in 1981.

Sadly, Jenifer was killed in a car accident in 1986 at the age of 13. The loss of their beautiful daughter left George and Norma devastated.

The couple rarely speaks about Jenifer’s death publicly. But in 2012, George briefly shared his heartbreak in an interview with PEOPLE, telling them:

We were blessed to have been able to spend 13 years with our beautiful daughter Jenifer.”

Bubba grew up to become a rodeo competitor and country songwriter. In recent years, he collaborated with his dad on some of his songs.

Bubba really got me back into writing. That’s been a great experience for me, to be able to watch him grow and blossom as a songwriter,” George

Bubba and his wife, Tamara, share two children, Harvey and Jillian. They welcomed Harvey in 2012 and Jillian in 2016.

George Feels Incredibly “Blessed” To Have Norma In His Life

While George doesn’t often talk about his personal life, he never shies away from sharing his love for Norma. In is 2012 interview with PEOPLE, he said:

Norma and I are so blessed that we found each other … and were able to do all of this together, experience this life together, to support each other through everything, good times and bad. We do almost everything together. She stayed home until Bubba got out of high school and went to college, but since then she’s come on the road with me too. We love each other and we still like each other. A lot!

Although she prefers to live her life out of the spotlight, Norma has continually shown her support for George over the years. She’s attended awards shows, watched his concerts, and even made an appearance in his music video for “Código.” They smiled and danced together for a brief moment near the end of the clip.

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Hilarious “HAWK TUAH ON THAT THANG” Moment: A Behind-the-Scenes Look

In the world of sports, certain moments stand out because they capture the essence of a player’s personality or the camaraderie between teammates. However, sometimes, these moments are pure, unscripted chaos, like the hilarious scene that unfolded recently when Giannis Antetokounmpo, the reigning NBA MVP, interrupted Damian Lillard’s interview with his exuberant shout: “HAWK TUAH ON THAT THANG!” The moment not only cracked up those present but also set social media ablaze with memes and videos. Let’s dive into this unforgettable episode, what it says about Giannis’ character, and the playful dynamic he shares with his new teammate, Damian Lillard.

May be an image of 2 people, people playing basketball and text that says 'B NochesÉne-Bé-A Ene-Bé-A Noches SOMOS SOMOSOS O DS BUCKS "" HAWK TUAH ON THAT THANG! CIANIENTHEMLWALKEBUOKSLOOKER GIANNIS IN THE MILWAUKEE BUCKS LOCKER ROOM'

The Moment That Stole the Show

Damian Lillard, the All-Star guard traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in the off-season, was in the midst of an interview when the cameras and mics caught a rather loud and unexpected interjection from Giannis. Without warning, as Lillard was answering a question from a reporter, Giannis can be heard yelling, “HAWK TUAH ON THAT THANG!” His energetic outburst immediately stole the spotlight from the conversation at hand, causing laughter and confusion in equal measure.

The phrase “HAWK TUAH ON THAT THANG” quickly became the subject of online speculation. What did it mean? Was it some insider basketball jargon? Fans were baffled, amused, and immediately curious about its origin. The funny thing is, Giannis’ antics have a long history of going viral, and this moment would add another memorable chapter to his offbeat, larger-than-life persona. It wasn’t just a random outburst—it was quintessential Giannis, embodying his fun-loving nature and his infectious energy.

The Giannis Effect: Humor and Leadership

Giannis Antetokounmpo out here yelling “HAWK TUAH ON THAT THANG” in the back of Damian Lillard’s interview 😂💀, They don’t call him the “Greek Freak” for nothing… 😂

Giannis Antetokounmpo is known for his remarkable skill and work ethic on the court, but off the court, he’s also a larger-than-life figure. His charisma and sense of humor have helped shape the culture around the Bucks, making him one of the most beloved figures in the NBA. Whether he’s joking around with his teammates, participating in quirky interviews, or simply making fans laugh, Giannis’ ability to blend humor with leadership is one of the reasons his popularity has transcended beyond just his basketball abilities.

This “HAWK TUAH ON THAT THANG” moment serves as a perfect example of this balance. It wasn’t a trash talk or a boastful proclamation; it was pure joy, an inside joke made to entertain those around him. Giannis is the type of player who can break the tension of a serious moment, turning even an ordinary interview into an unforgettable scene. While some may view this as a distraction, it’s clear that Giannis knows how to bring positivity into the locker room and create an environment that promotes fun while still maintaining focus when necessary.

What Does “HAWK TUAH ON THAT THANG” Even Mean?

The phrase “HAWK TUAH ON THAT THANG” might seem like nonsensical gibberish at first, but as with much of Giannis’ offbeat humor, there’s probably a deeper meaning or context only understood by him and those close to him. Giannis, known for his eccentric use of language and sayings, often peppers his conversations with phrases that have a sense of fun, but aren’t always straightforward.

As for the phrase itself, it could be a playful mix of Giannis’ personal flair, possibly a modified version of a saying or something he picked up from a specific cultural reference or inside joke. The key thing is that it was delivered with such intensity and confidence that it didn’t matter whether anyone understood it—it was more about the feeling and the excitement Giannis brought to the moment.

The mystery surrounding the phrase only adds to its charm. Fans on social media began dissecting the moment, throwing out theories, and trying to connect the phrase to any known slang or cultural reference. One thing is certain: no matter what “HAWK TUAH ON THAT THANG” means, it will likely be associated with Giannis for years to come, and it will probably be quoted by fans in the same way people still reference iconic lines from past NBA moments.

The Dynamic Between Giannis and Damian Lillard

Another layer to the story is the relationship between Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. With Lillard joining the Bucks in a high-profile trade, much of the focus was on how this new pairing would shape the team’s fortunes. Lillard, one of the most respected point guards in the league, brings a different kind of leadership and shooting ability to the Bucks, complementing Giannis’ all-around game.

But beyond basketball, the duo has formed a strong camaraderie, as evidenced by the playful moment during the interview. Giannis’ outburst could be seen as an attempt to get a laugh from his new teammate, or simply a reflection of the easy-going bond they’ve already developed. The fun nature of this incident highlights the rapport the two have, and it signals that Lillard, who’s known for his own dry sense of humor, is fitting in seamlessly with the Bucks’ locker room culture.

Their friendship extends beyond just basketball court chemistry, where their interactions are starting to catch the eye of fans who are excited to see the duo’s on-court dynamics. If their relationship off the court is any indication, the Bucks have not only gained an incredible talent in Lillard but also an exciting personality that will only enhance the team’s chemistry and morale.

The Impact on the Bucks and Fans

Giannis and Lillard’s chemistry, both on and off the court, is an exciting development for the Bucks as they look to continue their championship contention. While the basketball world will focus on how the duo complements each other’s game, moments like these give fans a glimpse into the personalities behind the players. The energy, humor, and camaraderie between Giannis and Lillard can only boost team morale and make the Bucks a team that fans are not only watching for their basketball skills but also for their undeniable entertainment value.

Giannis’ viral moment with Lillard is a reminder that, in sports, the best teams often aren’t just built on talent but also on the relationships that players form. This hilarious, unscripted outburst added a sense of warmth and fun to the already electric atmosphere surrounding the Bucks. Fans can’t help but cheer on not just the players’ athleticism but also their infectious personalities.

In the end, “HAWK TUAH ON THAT THANG” might just be another inside joke between teammates, but its legacy will likely last much longer than any press conference. Giannis continues to prove that his personality—whether through his unguarded moments, humor, or leadership—will keep him a fan favorite for years to come.

  • Shaquille O’Neal Warns Giannis Antetokounmpo of Downfall Ahead of Record-Setting Feat

Shaquille O’Neal Warns Giannis Antetokounmpo of Downfall Ahead of Record-Setting Feat

The only player in NBA history to average 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists for 3 seasons. That’s the record Giannis Antetokounmpo is heading towards, with a team back to the winning ways at that. But is there a need for him to get a reality check? Well, that’s what Shaquille O’Neal believes. The former NBA star weighed in on Giannis’ recent performance and Milwaukee Bucks’ chances at the championship during an episode of Inside the NBA.

Shaquille O'Neal Warns Giannis Antetokounmpo of Downfall Ahead of Record-Setting Feat

The discussion on the show started with Ernie Johnson highlighting how The Greek Freak is set to surpass Wilt Chamberlain and Oscar Robertson, who averaged 30, 10, and 5 in two seasons. “You know, sometimes, Ernie, even if you’re a great player, sometimes you have to be brought back down to reality,” Shaq chimed in, noting that while Giannis is exceptional, the Bucks are running with a few flaws, needing him to step up. “They [Bucks] started off slow… They’re playing well. He [Giannis] knows what he has to do.”

Further adding to his chain of thought, Big Diesel highlighted the next championship is more of Antetokounmpo’s job and responsibility than Doc Rivers. “It’s his job… to get the guys on track, playing well. And they’ve been doing that. Great player right there. But do they have enough to win the championship? I say no,” O’Neal said.

Charles Barkley, too, completely agreed with Shaquille O’Neal’s opinion of the Bucks’ chances at the championship. “I love this kid [Giannis]… But they got to get more athletic on the perimeter. They have two guys who are athletic and then that’s it…” Barkley said. He emphasized that with their current setup, just one athletic guy, the Bucks won’t be able to beat the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, or the Orlando Magic when they’re healthy.

    via Imago

“Dame’s [Damian Lillard] a great player, but he’s not a really athletic guy… The way the game is played, your wing defenders have to be terrific and they don’t have it,” Chuck added. Kenny Smith, however, had a different take on this. He stated the way the Bucks played in recent weeks, which included winning seven games in a row, is “who they are. This is the team you’re gonna have to play come playoff time.”

Smith even countered Barkley’s claim, stating the Bucks even have a chance at beating the Knicks and Celtics. Yes, the Bucks had a terrible 2-8 start to the season, but now they have surged to a 12-11 record. And they’ve won all their games in the Emirates Cup — the rebranded in-season tournament. Despite the potential, however, it’s not just Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley who doubt Giannis’ chances at the championship.

“No fixes”: 55YO sportswriter points out the grave concern with Bucks

Shaquille O'Neal Warns Giannis Antetokounmpo of Downfall Ahead of Record-Setting Feat

When the Bucks had a rough start to the season, it left fans questioning if this team can truly contend for a title. Among some other names, NBA analyst Bill Simmons didn’t think so. In fact, his brutally honest take might hit the Bucks supporters quite hard. Speaking on The Bill Simmons Podcast, the veteran sportswriter didn’t hold back.

“They have an awesome big man, they have an aging offensive star that doesn’t play defense, they have nobody else on the team who could play defense, and they have no bench,” Simmons said. “Unlike the Lakers, there is no fixes… I don’t see any conceivable way that this team is a contender. It’s really rough and with no fixes.”

Ouch. For a team that just added Damian Lillard to pair with Giannis Antetokounmpo, that’s not what anyone expected. But Simmons might have a point. Milwaukee has almost nothing to work with for a trade—just one tradable first-round pick in 2031 and a second-rounder. On top of that, they’re over the second apron, meaning they can’t take back extra salary or combine contracts to make deals.

So, where does that leave the Bucks? If you were hoping for a blockbuster trade to fix their defensive woes and lack of depth, think again. It’s not just about their record—it’s about the limited tools they have to improve. Something that Barkley highlighted while agreeing with Shaquille O’Neal’s recent take on the Bucks.

Fearful of Michael Jordan-Like Addiction, Giannis Antetokounmpo to Stay Away From 150 Locations in Vegas

Even a nagging injury couldn’t stop Giannis Antetokounmpo from showing out for the Milwaukee Bucks. A short-manned Orlando Magic did manage to push the Deers to the edge. However, the Greek Freak’s ruthless 37-point performance ensured a second straight trip to Vegas for the NBA Cup semifinals. The performance, as with any of Antetokounmpo’s astounding feats was driven by one emotion – competition.

Fearful of Michael Jordan-Like Addiction, Giannis Antetokounmpo to Stay Away From 150 Locations in Vegas - EssentiallySports

An early need for revenge from Goga Bitadze led to a thunderous dunk that saw the two-time MVP flex his muscles in all its glory. The height of the tournament itself then fueled another terrific night for the Greek forward. For him though, the stage doesn’t matter. Antetokounmpo is always going on full motor when the chase for winning is concerned. While that powers him to basketball excellence, it can also tend to become a sickness.

Under the bright lights of Las Vegas, the casinos are often the highlights. Bobby Portis, a teammate of the Bucks cornerstone admitted to indulging in some blackjack. However, Giannis Antetokounmpo can’t share that fun. It’s because even though the saying is the house always wins, the Greek Freak feels his insatiable spirit to compete could lead to an addiction.

“I don’t gamble because I believe I have a competition problem. So I try to stay away from gambling because whatever I do, I do 100%. I don’t drink, I don’t gamble I don’t do none of that because I know if I got myself into that, it’s going to be hard for me to get out of it,” he admitted at the end of his press conference tonight.

The words reverberate the sentiments of Michael Jordan. His Airness became the victim of public scrutiny due to his hobby of gambling. However, for the Bulls icon, it was something he enjoyed due to his unquenchable thirst to always compete, something Jordan spoke about in multiple interviews.

With over 236 million in career earnings and an imminent NBA Cup paycheck on the horizon, a little fun wouldn’t hurt Anteokounmpo. But under the allure of Sin City, time and money both can go by within a flash and in unfathomable time. Maybe it’s better that Giannis Antetokounmpo is reserving his war spirit for the court.

Giannis Anteokounmpo on trajectory to win NBA Cup MVP

The baton has to pass. In the inaugural edition of the In-Season Tournament, LeBron James emphatically claimed the honors after guiding the Lakers to the title. Now, Giannis Antetokounmpo seems bound for that result, only two wins away from a tempting prize and additional glory to his resume.

So far, his numbers are simply stupendous. As he mentioned, whether in a scrimmage or a Game 7, his intensity is always in high gear. In four games of the NBA Cup, Antetokounmpo is averaging a staggering 31.3 points on 70.6% shooting. It includes a game against the Detroit Pistons where he missed only one of his eleven makes.

    Giannis Antetokounmpo Archives - EssentiallySports

His electric showing against the Orlando Magic further solidified his status on the ladder. In the group stages, he and Damian Lillard led the Bucks to a point differential of +50, the best mark overall. Additionally, on the defensive end, his 2.5 blocks per game is the second highest, proving his two-way versatility.

The Greek Freak has been a juggernaut during his herculean stretch in the NBA Cup. The only remaining rival of his could be Shai-Gilgeous Alexander. The Thunder shooting guard also helped seal a semifinal ticket with a surgical 39-point performance to drown the Dallas Mavericks tonight.

The race for the honor will come down to the wire, essentially down to who gets to the Finals in Las Vegas. The Bucks await a battle against either the New York Knicks or the Atlanta Hawks. These are two teams the Bucks are yet to get a win against. However, the team has recovered from their early season slump, winning nine of their eleven games.

  • Will Bucks Trade Deadline Moves Be Enough to Keep Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee?

Will Bucks Trade Deadline Moves Be Enough to Keep Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee?

The Milwaukee Bucks have a superstar player in Giannis Antetokounmpo. He is one of the best players in the NBA. When he’s healthy, he might be the single hardest player to stop in the league.
Anytime that an organization has a superstar, they are inevitably going to be afraid to lose him at some point. Superstars get antsy when they don’t win every year and they like to threaten to leave in order to enact change.

Antetokounmpo has said that he wants the Bucks to make moves to make the team competitive at all times. He said he will stay there as long as they are competing for titles.

Because of the angst the Bucks have, they have made several big trades over the years to satiate Antetokounmpo. They traded for Jrue Holiday, and that resulted in a title.

Then, they traded Holiday for Damian Lillard. At the trade deadline this year, they traded Khris Middleton for Kyle Kuzma and also traded for Kevin Porter Jr.

Bucks Notes: Giannis Trade Deadline Satisfaction, Damian Lillard Injury, More

Are these moves going to be enough to keep Antetokounmp? Will he want to stay in Milwaukee, or will he be another foreign player who wants to play in a big market?

The Bucks made both of those this season because they think they fill needs. Bringing Kuzma in could not have happened at a better time because Antetokounmpo will be out through the All-Star break with a calf strain.

Kuzma can help share the offensive burden with Lillard. Milwaukee wanted to bring him in for injury insurance against both Antetokounmpo and Lillard.

The Bucks re-signed Antetokounmpo before last year to a deal that will kick in next season. It keeps him in Milwaukee until 2027-28.

Bucks Dealt Unfortunate Giannis Antetokounmpo Before All-Star Break

That is true as long as he doesn’t request a trade, which is the only way that the Bucks would ever let him out of Milwaukee. They feel confident that these moves will be enough to keep him.

It seems that Antetokounmpo only really cares about being great at basketball. He’s not interested in a lot of off-the-court stuff.

He just wants to be great. The Bucks’ front office knows that, and they have done everything they can to surround him with greatness.

Antetokounmpo is averaging 31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game this season.

The Milwaukee Bucks acquired Kevin Porter Jr. from the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for MarJon Beauchamp before the February 6 trade deadline, and the 24-year-old combo guard made his first appearance in the team’s 125-111 loss to the Golden State Warriors last Monday.

Porter said he was happy to return to the team that made him realize his NBA dream, as the Milwaukee Bucks took him with the no. 30 overall pick before he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“When I learned that it was the Bucks that landed me, then I was very happy. We already had that relationship from the summer and it was a good choice for me and business-wise for the Clippers,” Porter said via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

“Very warm welcome. I got a chance to talk to Doc in the summer and build a little bit with him and honestly it was just like picking up where we left off. Being here, the camaraderie, the chemistry, the guys here, it’s a great group, mindset, even off the court they’re just great. “Honestly, I feel like I never left. I feel like I belong here. And it’s just really getting back to routine and adjusting to what I need to adjust to. It’s been beautiful, man,” Porter said.

“I just gotta find where I fit in at. From this game (vs. Golden State) alone, I see the guys want me to be me and they know what I’m capable of. And once I get back to myself a little bit, then I feel like I’ll be able to help this team do big things – like win a championship,” he concluded.

With the Bucks, it was Giannis Antetokounmpo, a two-time MVP who led the Bucks to the NBA title in 2021. Antetokounmpo happens to have a strong rapport with Mavs coach Jason Kidd and his right-hand man, Sean Sweeney,” Woelfel wrote in his column.

“According to one source, the Mavs reached out to the Bucks. But the Bucks made it clear to Mavs they wouldn’t trade Antetokounmpo even though his future with the team is murky,” he added.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is out until the NBA All-Star break

Giannis Antetokounmpo has missed the last four games due to a strained calf, and the Milwaukee Bucks have missed him badly. With the Greek Freak out, the team has alternated wins and losses in their last five.

Antetokounmpo is Milwaukee’s leading scorer, averaging 31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.3 blocks on 60.8 percent shooting from the field in 41 starts this 2024-25.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo sidelined, co-star Damian Lillard is tasked with shouldering a bigger offensive load. Dame Time has scored 81 points in his last two appearances.

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Wife Stirs Debate Over Her Bold Opinion on Caitlin Clark’s Nike Ad

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s wife, Mariah Riddlesprigger, recently ignited a social media firestorm with her candid commentary on Caitlin Clark’s recent Nike advertisement. Known for her straightforward personality, Riddlesprigger didn’t hold back when expressing her thoughts on the ad, sparking an intense debate among fans and followers. While many praised Clark’s rise to fame and her groundbreaking achievements in sports, Mariah’s unfiltered take has left the internet divided, with fans either agreeing with or strongly disagreeing with her stance.

Riddlesprigger’s opinion, which she shared on her social media platforms, quickly went viral. Some fans found her honesty refreshing, appreciating the courage it takes to publicly share such personal views, especially on a topic that has drawn so much attention. They admired her willingness to speak out, even when her opinion may not align with the majority. However, other followers were less enthusiastic, pointing out that her comments could be seen as disrespectful or harsh given Clark’s influence and the positive message the ad aimed to convey.

The controversy unfolded in a way that only added fuel to the already heated discussion. While some fans accused Mariah of disrespecting Clark, others defended her right to express her perspective. In a world where celebrities and public figures often face intense scrutiny, many felt that Riddlesprigger’s opinion should be viewed as just another form of free expression rather than a personal attack. The debate, however, has sparked questions about the pressures placed on public figures and whether or not they are expected to always align with popular opinion.

At the heart of the controversy is the larger question of how we view athletes and their roles in society. As Caitlin Clark continues to break barriers in women’s sports, her role as a Nike ambassador is seen by many as a symbol of progress and empowerment. Riddlesprigger’s take, however, offers a counterpoint to that narrative, forcing fans to think critically about how personal beliefs and professional endorsements intersect. In this case, the Nike ad featuring Clark may represent more than just an endorsement; it’s part of a broader conversation about identity, success, and what it means to be a public figure in today’s world.

As fans continue to react to the controversy, it’s clear that Riddlesprigger’s opinion has stirred more than just casual conversation. It’s sparked a reflection on the way we engage with sports culture, advertising, and the ever-blurring line between personal views and public personas. Whether or not you agree with her take, one thing is certain: Mariah Riddlesprigger’s honesty has certainly made her voice heard in a conversation that is far from over.

Milwaukee Bucks: Giannis Antetokounmpo To Miss More Time Than Expected with Calf Strain That Has Already Sidelined Him 4 Games

Giannis Antetokounmpo has already been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, his fourth absence due to a strained left calf. Per ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Milwaukee Bucks superstar will remain sidelined longer than that.

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo will be sidelined through the next week due to a mild calf strain and will miss the NBA All-Star Game next Sunday, sources tell ESPN. This is not good news for a Bucks team that has lost 5 of 6 and is falling further behind the Eastern Conference 4-seed and its guarantee of a home playoff series.

Milwaukee Bucks Will Rely on Portis, Others To Fill Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Shoes

After today’s game against Philly, Milwaukee plays the new-look Warriors on Monday followed by a Wednesday trip to Minnesota. The All-Star break gives them 7 days off, hopefully enough time for Giannis to recover. Charania’s tweet does not clarify that he will be back immediately after.

Also disappointing for Bucks fans is the fact that they won’t get to see their star in the All-Star game. For a second straight season, Giannis led all players in fan votes.

The past two games he has missed, a win versus Charlotte and a loss to Atlanta, Bobby Portis has stepped up with two monster showings as the starting power forward. 23, 17 and 5 plus 26, 15 and 6. The team will have to hope he continues to ball out and that trade acquisition Kyle Kuzma can also fill the void of Antetokounmpo’s absence.

His first game in Milwaukee he scored 12 first-half points but shot 0-4 after that. He will have to do better for the Bucks to stay afloat.

Fans should also look for Damian Lillard aggression as the squad’s sole star. Friday versus the Atlanta, he scored 23 points, grabbed 9 boards and dished out 10 assists.

Who Will Replace Antetokounmpo in All-Star Festivities?

Giannis’ absence from the All-Star game opens the door to one of the East’s previously snubbed stars. Fans responded to Charania’s report with some suggestions:

Some fans met the news with doom and gloom. “Brother is officially injury prone,” decided one. “Bucks are done.”

“Uh oh. Calf issues kept him out of the playoffs last year,” another fan commented.

Others had some fun with it: “mans had a vacation plan that sounded much better than going to San Francisco.”

And: “Giannis is just looking to get out of the All Star Game Weekend. This is a great way to get a week off.”

The sooner he returns, the better. The Bucks have not looked good lately and missing the Greek Freak won’t help.
