Is Novak Djokovic Injured Ahead of the US Open? Latest Proof Hints That He Could Be Struggling

Trouble might be en route for Novak Djokovic and it won’t be a pretty picture if those possibilities come to life. After mustering the best of his abilities to clinch the elusive gold at the Paris Olympics, Nole has tasked himself with another adventure. The Serbian superstar is slated to participate in the 2024 US Open. However, there might be a slight hiccup that hinders his performance and disables him from defending his title in New York.

Earlier this season, the Serb endured a knee injury wherein he sustained a torn meniscus while marking his attendance at the French Open. He later went through a corrective surgery to remedy the issue. Though Djokovic’s knee treatment responded well and prompted him to perform at Wimbledon and at the Summer Olympics, he wore a knee brace as a preventive measure during those outings. While it was ascertained that physical troubles are past Nole owing to his impressive performances, an alarming update might trouble fans.

Ahead of his Flushing Meadows campaign, the Serbian attended practice sessions without wearing any knee brace. However, as he took to the Arthur Ashe Stadium to engage in a friendly rally with Juan Martin Del Potro, the New York crowd witnessed him wearing a similar compression sleeve. This, in turn, might be troubling. If the 37-year-old is experiencing discomfort in the impacted area, chances are he might withdraw from the event, or worse, potentially sustain another injury.

This, in turn, won’t do any favors to the Serb. Having collected every accolade the sport has on offer, Nole is now chasing ghosts. Though he is looking to break Margaret Court‘s 24 GS title record in NY, if an injury hiatus comes into play, there’s a possibility fans won’t see him returning to the courts again.

Even if Nole is injured, he will likely recover in time for the main draw. The slated recovery time for his meniscus surgery was 3 weeks, which meant he would not have had time to prepare for Wimbledon and could have missed the grass slam. However, two weeks prior to Wimbledon, Djokovic was on the grass courts, practicng for the tournament, and even ran to the final. Chances are, if he is injured now, he will find a way to recover at the speed of light.

Injury or no injury, Nole is having a splendid time at the minute. At the Flushing Meadows arena, Djokovic indulged the American crowd with hilarious on-court moments.

Novak Djokovic battles with Andre Agassi at the US Open’s exhibition event

If anyone knows how to captivate tennis fans, it’s the Djoker. It is safe to say that players can lessons from the Serb on how to electrify the crowd. The former World No. 1 magnetic on-court demeanor has yet again worked its magic at the US Open.

Ahead of the hardcourt major’s commencement, Nole partook in an exhibition event wherein he partnered with John McEnroe to take on Carlos Alcaraz and Andre Agassi. During the friendly showdown, the Serb entered into a crosscourt backhand-to-backhand rally with former World No. 1 Agassi, hilariously ousting McEnroe and Alcaraz from the rally.

The 37-year-old has been making rounds in New York all week. Enjoying his status as the crowd favorite, it will be riveting to witness the Serb’s breathtaking performances against the likes of Spaniard Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Daniil Medvedev.

  • Andy Roddick Blasts Twitter User for Jannik Sinner Bias Days After Poking Fun at Nick Kyrgios for His Juicy Take

Andy Roddick Blasts Twitter User for Jannik Sinner Bias Days After Poking Fun at Nick Kyrgios for His Juicy Take

Jannik Sinner‘s doping controversy took hours to turn into the most trending topic on social media right now! Although the recently released US Open draws have shared the space, the extended discussions over the young Italian’s clean chit from the case have made it hard for the fans to stop. While Andy Roddick stepped forward with firm backing for the Cincinnati Masters champion, fans didn’t hold back from treating him with negative comments. However, the American had perfect answers for all of them.

Andy Roddick recently faced criticism from fans after expressing support for Jannik Sinner during a banned substance test controversy. A fan slammed Roddick for “twerking to Sinner” after accusing him of doing all this to gain contracts from ATP and sponsors. However, Roddick quickly defended his position, making it clear that his opinions are independent and not influenced by any external organizations.

Roddick highlighted his independence by saying, “I own my own media company. I don’t answer to anyone. I write my own shows, have a production team, and edit the shows in-house. Nobody dictates our content.” He further explained that he does not rely on ATP or any other tennis entities for income, stating, “I haven’t taken a dime from ATP and don’t need their money. I’m about as anti-establishment as it gets in tennis media.”

Roddick also highlighted the integrity of his work, making it clear that he has no conflicts of interest, a point that separates him from others in the tennis media. “I’m not paid by any player, federations, tours, etc. I don’t take a salary from any broadcasters. We produce, edit, and deliver our pod show to [Tennis Channel] for a fee per episode and have total creative control,” the former American pro clarified.

The controversy began when Roddick discussed Jannik Sinner’s failed tests on his podcast, “Served with Andy Roddick.” Sinner had tested positive twice for a banned substance in March, an issue that led to the loss of ranking points and prize money from Indian Wells. However, the Italian’s provisional suspension was overturned after his appeals were accepted, and he was cleared of any fault by the ITIA and an independent tribunal.

Roddick urged fans to wait for the full story before forming opinions, stressing the importance of facts over feelings. He explained that it’s difficult to pinpoint the source of contamination, and any other ATP or WTA star could find themselves in a similar situation. “I care. I think facts matter more than feelings in this scenario. And I’m not going to tell you the way to feel. I’m going to tell you as much information, and then judge away, but at least judge away knowing processes,” Roddick said.

Roddick’s message was delivered quite clearly in his podcast. The former pro unbiasedly admitted that it is crucial to let all the facts emerge before rushing to judgment. However, he isn’t the only former pro who backed Sinner in this controversy ahead of the US Open.

Andy Roddick shares cryptic message hours after Nick Kyrgios' remark on Jannik Sinner's doping controversy gets flagged for misinformation

Chris Evert backs Jannik Sinner by thrashing Nick Kyrgios’ urge for suspension

It didn’t take long for the crucial update to knock on the doors of media houses like ESPN. As discussions emerged, Chris Evert reacted with shock to the news of Sinner’s doping test controversy. “Well, first of all, I’ve just been thrown into this saga. I just arrived on the set and I’m listening to this, and I’m like whoa, Jannik Sinner is like the last person you think,” the former WTA pro said. Evert couldn’t believe that Sinner was involved in such a scandal. She even compared it to the surprises in Simona Halep and Maria Sharapova’s cases, where both players were also unexpected figures in doping controversies.

Evert also responded to Nick Kyrgios’ call for a two-year ban on Sinner by disagreeing with a harsh response. “I don’t think he should be banned for two years,” she stated. Evert explained that Sinner’s situation seemed more like an unfortunate accident than intentional doping. She pointed out how Sinner’s physiotherapist, Giacomo Naldi, accidentally contaminated him by using a spray on his own injury before treating Sinner. As a result, when Sinner was tested, the results turned out to be a big scare. However, the Italian has decided to keep this behind and focus on the upcoming hard-court major.

Rafael Nadal Meets Hollywood Royalty Will Smith as Two Worlds Collide at E1 Series Sporting Event

What happens when two exceptional talents cross paths? Mallorcan legend Rafael Nadal and Hollywood star Will Smith had an extraordinary moment in Lake Como as they geared up to participate in an exciting sports event. Smith, who already received much acclaim for his role as Serena Williams’ father in King Richard, met the Spaniard and took the internet by storm. As the event unfolds, it leaves the audience palpable: what will happen next?

Nadal and Smith, owners of Rafa Pilots and Westbrook Racing teams, recently met each other ahead of the E1 Lake Como GP that will take place on the 23rd and 24th of August in Cernobbio. It is the world’s first electric raceboat championship. Hosted by the stunning Villa d’Este, this racing series will anchor in Lake Como.

The official X profile of the E1 Series shared a clip where Rafa was seen talking to the organizers and the hosts when Will Smith walked to him and said, “What’s up man?” then they hugged and continued their conversation.

Nadal checked his team’s boat, costumes, and helmet and clicked a photo with his team’s members. “When Will Smith met Rafa Nadal… two legends, two icons. Two of our legendary team owners have landed on-site and are buzzing to see their teams racing H2H this weekend,” tweeted the official X profile of the E1 Series.

These two legends laughed and chatted away. The tweet soon became popular, with 285 views in less than two hours. One Nadal fan took a screenshot of Smith hugging and greeting Rafa and shared their delight about the moment.

The Spaniard became a team owner in the UIM E1 World Championship last year. He announced a new E1 Partnership with Sunreef Yachts for five years last June. Apart from Smith, Nadal joined an impressive and famous roaster of team owners, including Didier Drogba, Marcelo Claure, Sergio Perez, and Virat Kohli. Smith joined the E1 in May, expressing an “affinity for electric and competitive sports with E1’s mission to accelerate sustainability in marine mobility.

Founded by Alejandro Agag and Rodi Basso, E1 has always felt exceptional after Nadal joined their roaster of team owners. The Spaniard legend also had a similar expression as he revealed why he chose this sport.

Rafael Nadal's force of will takes him to verge of remarkable 21st grand slam | Australian Open 2022 | The Guardian

Rafael Nadal admitted his reason to own a boat racing team in the E1

While Nadal is popular for his impressive tennis skills, he has a special inclination for boats. “I love boats, I love competition and at the same time I know the E1 World Championship will help electric technology in the nautical world, so I am very excited about that. I also know that all around the races there are going to be programmes to protect and to restore marine eco-systems. That is super interesting, especially because I love the ocean. So I’ll be able to be part of something that important, makes me feel so happy,” he said.

The E1 craze has caught many athletes, as even Tom Brady has joined the fray. On a call with owners of other teams, Brady declared that his team would be the obvious victors. However, Rafael Nadal was quick to respond as he said, “My team is practicing like a beast so we will be ready for it. See you there.

The E1 Lake Como GP has already garnered much popularity following its list of celebrity team owners. While boat racing has not gained as much popularity as tennis or the NFL, Nadal’s presence will soon popularize the sport creating a dedicated fanbase.

VIDEO: Pat McAfee Drops Strange Statement Suggesting He Can’t Talk About Caitlin Clark Anymore, And Everyone Is Scratching Their Heads

Pat McAfee runs one of the biggest sports shows in the genre’s history. The former NFL punter talks all things sports, so when something is taking over the world, he will have something to say.

There is one issue, though, and it’s that McAfee uses some pretty strong wording on many topics. His show is owned by ESPN, so they say it’s a “no-go,” which is too bad for the 37-year-old talk show host.

McAfee may focus a lot on the NFL; however, in recent media, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has been all the rage as she is completely taking over the WNBA, and surprisingly, McAfee isn’t allowed to speak on the star anymore.

McAfee was interviewing fellow sports show host Rich Eisen for Wednesday’s episode of the Pat McAfee Show when Caitlin Clark’s name came up in conversation. He quickly shut down the topic, seemingly confirming ESPN’s decision.

Pat McAfee Tells Rich Eisen That He Can’t Speak On Caitlin Clark

McAfee told Eisen, “The universe told me not to talk about her,” furthering his statement by adding, “You know, God came down and said you should probably go ahead and stop it.”

Eisen, of course, was curious about why his good friend and former NFL punter couldn’t speak on one of the biggest names in sports. McAfee replied, calling himself “an idiot” for some of his statements.

He then confirmed his stance on the Fever star, claiming he was and continues to be a big fan. However, his way of speaking sometimes gets him in trouble, referring to some controversial comments he made about her earlier in the season.

While he may not be allowed to speak about the WNBA’s newest and brightest star, fans can only hope that he will one day be able to talk about her again. His view of her remains positive, which could open up a future collaboration between the two.

Novak Djokovic has just arrived in New York and is training hard for the 2024 US Open, the last Grand Slam of the season, which promises to give fans excitement and show. The US Open has been very uncertain for the last 10-15 years and no player has won the title for two consecutive years since Roger Federer.

The Serbian camp hopes to break this curse, as they won the title last year by beating Russian Daniil Medvedev in the final. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has not played since the final of the Paris Olympics, where he won the gold medal by defeating Carlos Alcaraz at the end of an electrifying match. The 37-year-old from Belgrade has preferred to skip the Montreal and Cincinnati Masters 1000 to get ready for the US Open, where he will try to win his legendary career 25th Major. Novak has not yet won a Grand Slam title this year and hopes to be able to do so in Flushing Meadows.

Djokovic was defeated by Jannik Sinner in the semifinals at the Australian Open, while at the French Open he had to retire before the quarterfinals due to a knee injury (which forced him to undergo surgery). Despite his poor physical condition, Nole played the Wimbledon Championships and lost to Alcaraz in the final. Novak Djokovic struggled a lot in the first part of the season, but his feat at the Paris Olympics makes him one of the favorites at the 2024 US Open.

Djokovic has just arrived in NY

Satiated and satisfied are two terms that do not exist in the vocabulary of Serbian legend Novak Djokovic. After the gold medal won at the Olympic Games in Paris, with which he filled that last vacant space on his trophy board, many people have wondered whether the Serbian tennis player will still be motivated to compete at the highest levels. There are those who are sure that the 24-time slam champion will continue to play in order to win more victories. In an interview with ESPN, female tennis legend Chris Evert said she is convinced that the 37-year-old from Belgrade still has a great goal to achieve. Nole has already shown that his physique and mentality know no limits. According to the former number one in the WTA ranking, the Serbian will aim for the 25th Slam title at the Us Open, which would lead him solo to the most successful players in this category, breaking out Margaret Court. “If he wins the 25th Slam, I think he’ll stop playing. He’ll break his bond with Margaret Court, who won the Olympics. Winning the Games was a very important goal for him.

As far as winning the US Open, does it mean much to win the 25°? Can he have the same energy as he had at the Olympics? Will he face, once again, a very fierce competition: will he succeed in doing it twice in a row, at the Olympics and the US Open? Let him retire later, I would say: ‘Ok, you have permission to retire’”.

Nole is back in great shape

The former American tennis player continued: “It would be epic if he could, but he is a very motivated person, more than anyone I have ever seen. He has had many ups and downs in his life, in his marriage, in his personal relationships, and I think it’s because of his great motivation. He has also solved everything.

He is a good communicator and knows how to solve things. It seems that at this moment it is in the best form for a long time. I think it would be a herculean thing if he won this tournament and reached the 25 Slam. He should definitely be the greatest male player of all time. I think that’s already in the minds of many people”.

About winning the Olympics. “I think it was a fairy tale for him to win the Olympics, after what happened with the surgery, with Carlitos Alcaraz who seems to have started to take over and return to his level as he did at Wimbledon. Coming back and finding that recovery capacity and that level of tennis, which we have not seen all year because he did not win a tournament in the whole year, yes, it was a fairy tale,” said Evert.

Evert finally concluded: “I didn’t expect it, but I believe in karma. This guy has worked hard all his life, endured a lot of press and was a bit the villain of the rivalry with Swiss legend Roger Federer and Spanish legend Rafa Nadal. He deserves all this”.

Caitlin Clark does a great job keeping out political affairs, but her boyfriend is not one of those who plans to do the same.

Clark’s boyfriend, former Iowa basketball player Connor McCaffery, is one of many Americans who are making it clear who they intend to vote for in the upcoming election.

McCaffery has social media buzzing after he posted a picture of himself watching the Democratic National Convention on his Instagram story.

On his television was Michelle Obama and Connor made sure people knew he was with her by posting a heart emoji on the picture.

It’s safe to say that not everybody appreciated seeing Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend supporting the Obamas as well as the Democrats ahead of the election.

Connor McCaffery@connor_m30 Connor McCaffery, how foolish and stupid to do this to Caitlin Clark’s universal reputation. Did the Obamas pay you for your endorsement to connect them to CC, through you? BAD idea.

This likely means that Caitlin Clark likely supports the Democratic side as well.

Despite what people may feel about Connor McCaffery’s political affiliations, he has a right to them just like they do.

Caitlin Clark has been one of the most talked-about individuals since her college basketball career began to take shape. This trend continues during her rookie campaign in the WNBA as she continues to break records and be every bit of the player that she was hyped to be.

Her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, has never been afraid to speak out about his politics. He previously expressed his support for Kamala Harris on his Instagram Story.

Caitlin Clark Is Unlikely To Bring Negative Attention To Herself By Diving Into Politics

Caitlin Clark has yet to endorse either candidate for the upcoming Presidential election.

The Democratic National Convention is taking place in Chicago this week, and a lot of people in the sports world are making it known who they are going for.

The Indiana Fever star hasn’t and likely will not do so.

Right now, everything she touches turns to gold, and coming out as either Republican or Democrat would hurt a lot.

Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have had plenty to say on the equal pay issue in tennis with Aryna Sabalenka reigniting the debate after her tournament win.

    TENNIS: AUG 19 Cincinnati Open

Aryna Sabalenka said female tennis players deserve to be paid the same as men (Image: Getty)

Aryna Sabalenka has reignited her frustration over equal pay in tennis – a matter that Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have previously taken a stance on. The Belarusian star continued her impressive 2024 season as she picked up the Cincinnati Masters title after defeating Jessica Pegula 6-3 7-5 in the final as she heads into the US Open with ultimate confidence.

Following her victory, the 26-year-old decided to shine a light on the equal pay disparity that exists in tennis as she picked up $524,730 (£400,000) for winning the tournament which is half of what Jannik Sinner received for winning the men’s final with the Italian earning $1,049,460 (£775,000) for his triumph.

Sabalenka urged female players to be paid the same as men as she stated: “From the TV point of view, from the ticket selling, from every point of view, it’s unfair. Of course, guys are always going to be physically stronger than women but it doesn’t mean we’re not working as hard as they do. Women deserve to be paid an equal amount of money that men do.”

The conversation surrounding equal pay in tennis has long been a contentious topic and one that both Djokovic and Nadal have spoken on in the past. Both players previously argued against equal pay with the Serbian claiming that male players should fight for “more” money during the 2016 Indian Wells Masters.

Djokovic’s comments came on the back of the then-tournament CEO Raymond Moore sparking mass controversy by claiming that female players “ride on coattails of the men” and should “get on their knees and thank God” that players like Nadal and Roger Federer “carried” the sport.

The 37-year-old listed out his reasons as to why he believes that men should be rewarded more as he said: “I think that our men’s tennis world, ATP world, should fight for more because the stats are showing that we have much more spectators on the men’s tennis matches, I think that’s one of the reasons why maybe we should get awarded more” before backtracking on his stance a week later as he then said: “I never had an issue with equality in gender or sport or other areas of life.

“I feel very sorry if, in any way, I hurt my female colleague tennis players. I have a very good relationship with all of them. I have a huge respect for all of them.” Since his comments eight years ago, Djokovic has since become an advocate for equal pay as well as improved pay distribution for lower-ranked players and has actively worked to better it by creating the Professional Tennis Players Association in 2020 with Vasek Pospisil.

Nadal was another giant in the sport that argued against equal pay and in 2018, he told Italian magazine Lo Donna: “Female models earn more than male models, and nobody says anything. Why? Because they have a larger following. In tennis, too, who gathers a larger audience earns more.”

Six years on, the Spaniard has urged for the same opportunities to be given to both male and female players but claimed the prize money should be based on how much money a player generates, rather than it being equal across the board. “I don’t want to be hypocritical and say things that are easy to say and that I don’t feel. What do you want me to say? For me, the investment for women should be the same as for men,” the 22-time major champion said in a TV interview with La Sexta earlier this year.

“The opportunities, the same. The salaries, the same? No, for what? It’s not unfair, what’s unfair is that there isn’t equal opportunity. I have a mother and a sister. If you tell me that men and women deserve the same opportunities, I’m a feminist. This term is taken to the extreme. If we’re talking about logical and normal things in this conversation, of course I want equality.”

The 38-year-old admitted that it “bothers me” when he’s told that prize earnings must be equal for male and female players. “For me, equality isn’t about giving away gifts, but if Serena Williams earns more than me, I want her to earn more than me. I want equality, I want women to earn more than men if they generate more than men.

“What bothers me is when people tell me that income and earnings should be equal. In tennis, for some reason, the payouts are almost equal in most events because at the time there was an opportunity for women’s tennis to be seen.”

Novak Djokovic couldn’t help but tease Carlos Alcaraz about the pair’s Olympic final during a US Open warm-up event in New York.

Djokovic was taking part in an all-star charity event, with the Serb joined by Andre Agassi as they went head-to-head in a doubles match against Alcaraz and John McEnroe.

After the contest, Djokovic was quizzed on his burgeoning rivalry with Alcaraz, after the duo met in yet another final at the Paris Games.

Djokovic came out on top during a thrilling affair in the French capital, topping the podium by virtue of a 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-2) victory.

And on the pair’s meeting at Roland-Garros, Djokovic said with a grin: “I told Carlos at the net when we finished the final that I was very grateful to him for letting me win the gold.

“He’s probably going to have like three gold medals before he retires.”

Djokovic knows more than anyone that it isn’t as simple as rocking up to the Olympics and taking a medal, with 16 years separating his first piece of hardware at the Games to his latest.

A bronze medalist at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, Djokovic admitted he’d begun to question whether he’d ever get his hands on the elusive gold medal.

    2024 US Open - Previews

On his latest achievement, Djokovic commented: “Doubts always exist, but faith and the belief that I can achieve my goals are always stronger. I was aware that this was my last chance to win an Olympic gold, so I had to focus fully on my goal.

“Nothing will ever surpass seeing myself on the podium listening to the Serbian anthem with the flag raised.”

The Olympic victory came as somewhat of a surprise, given Djokovic hasn’t won a tour title during an injury-ridden 2024 so far.

The 37-year-old came close at the last Grand Slam, finishing second to familiar foe Alcaraz, but Djokovic will enter this month’s US Open as the reigning champion.

Victorious against Daniil Medvedev in the final last year, Djokovic is aiming to become the first men’s player to lift consecutive US Open titles since Roger Federer won five in a row between 2004 and 2008.

He enters the draw as the second seed, with world No.1 Jannik Sinner, fresh from his recent Cincinnati Open win, seeded as the top-ranked player.

The action gets underway in the main draw at Flushing Meadows on Monday, August 26.

Current Vice President Kamala Harris seems to have most of the basketball world on her side. The WNBA seems mostly pro-Harris, while NBA players have also made it clear that they favor her.

Golden State Warriors and Team USA head coach Steve Kerr has been very outspoken about politics over the last several years and has made no secret of his feelings on Donald Trump.

“I’ll be getting out every day to help people get out to vote on November 5 and elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz as the next President and Vice President of the United States,” he said at the Democratic National Convention earlier this week.

“After the results are tallied that night, we can, in the words of the great Steph Curry, we can tell Donald Trump, ‘Night, night!’”

Clark, who was drafted as the No. 1 overall pick in April, is one of the most popular athletes in the United States. That was already the case while she was in college as she toppled some impressive records, including scoring the most points ever for both men’s and women’s basketball.

The guard is known to be dating former Iowa basketball player Connor McCaffery, who now works for the Indiana Pacers. They have been together for over a year and celebrated their 12-month anniversary in April.

None of that seemed to matter to a certain CU player, however, as he made a pass at Clark in a video in which he asked her to give him a call.

“We’re back with the word of the day again?” he’s heard asking the Buffs video personnel in the clip below.

“Let’s go with Fever. My girl Caitlin Clark is balling. She’s doing a great job. I look up to her and all she’s done for the sport. And if she sees this, I’m a great guy. I have the best intentions. Call me.”

Of course, Connor’s name came up almost immediately.

It doesn’t appear that the player thought this one through. It’s not like Caitlin Clark would even consider calling him, so why risk it?

Still, Connor McCaffery might have a full plate right now, as he is being attacked on social media for stating his political affiliation earlier this week.
