Jessica Biel’s 9-Year-Old Son Silas Looks Just Like Mom in Rare Shot of the Duo at the 2024 US Open

Jessica Biel’s older son looks like he was having a ball alongside his mom at the US Open!

On Thursday, Aug. 29, the actress, 42, and her son Silas, 9, were photographed enjoying a tennis-filled day at the 2024 US Open Tennis Championship. In the rare snaps, the mother-son duo can be seen analyzing a tennis match from the stands and walking through the venue hand-in-hand.

The mom of two looked chic in her cream-colored Ralph Lauren pantsuit, white silk crop top, cream shoes, and, of course, a tennis necklace. The 9-year-old rocked a green and blue striped Ralph Lauren polo, khaki pants and blue Adidas sneakers.

Biel shares Silas as well as 4-year-old son Phineas with her husband Justin Timberlake.

Back in May, the boy mom participated in PEOPLE’s Kids Interview ahead of the debut of her children’s book, A Kids Book About Periods, where she revealed her favorite part about being a mother to Silas and Phineas.

“Hi, Miss Jessica! I’m Kai, I’m 5. What’s the best thing about being a boy mom?” the little boy asked Biel in the video.

“Oh my God, Kai! You’re adorable. I have a 9-year-old son and a 3-year-old son. The best thing about being a boy mom is playing,” Biel responded.

“I think playing with my sons is the most fun. Wrestling, playing LEGO, building LEGO, swimming, playing sports, reading together,” she said. “I love spending time with them, and I love getting down and dirty with them on the floor and just having fun. Not worrying about getting dirty or anything like that. I love that about being a boy mom.”

That same month, Biel shared that she’s already started having conversations with Silas about puberty as a guest on SiriusXM’s Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa.

“We talk a lot about that already,” Biel said. “We’re all, as parents, I think building it up in our brains as to how our children are gonna react and I do feel like we don’t give them enough credit for just kind of being able to understand and absorb it and then move on.”

She continued, “We talk a lot about his body’s changing a lot and he’s experiencing that. He’s experiencing growing pains. He has a hard time sleeping. He’ll be waking up in the middle of the night. His legs hurt. His back hurts.”

Adding that her son has gone from a little guy to almost a preteen, Biel said that she and Timberlake have noticed that Silas looks a little different.
“He’s just growing. It’s so amazing, so we talk a lot about that. We’re talking deodorant. We’re talking about hormones in our bodies and why we smell a different way, and so we’re into it and we’re on the precipice of all the big conversations I think.”

Celtics star Jaylen Brown shoots for the moon, debuts new 741 sneaker alongside Bill Nye

Celtics star Jaylen Brown shoots for the moon, debuts new 741 sneaker alongside Bill Nye

Boston Celtics superstar Jaylen Brown celebrated the launch of his new sneaker and apparel company 741 Performance with an event at the Museum of Science in Boston this weekend, a fitting celebration of what this new venture embodies as well as Brown’s own vision for the future.

The occasion itself served a few purposes. First, Brown used the event to unveil the latest colorway for his flagship shoe, the 741 Rovers — more on that in a moment. It was also a chance for Brown to connect with famous television personality Bill Nye the Science Guy. We will touch on that as well. And yes, releasing a new athletic sneaker alongside Bill Nye the Science guy at the local planetarium might sound like something out of a ChatGPT fever dream.

But the event represented the scope of Brown’s ambition, and marks an almost inevitable step forward in a journey that began even before he joined the NBA.

Celtics Wire spoke with Brown about shooting for the moon with the launch of 741 and what led to this juncture in his career. Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla, Brown’s older brother Quenton, and a handful of other folks also outlined why they believe Brown is so adept at defying gravity.

The evening opened with a showcase of some of 741s existing sneakers and apparel inside the Cosmic Light wing of the Museum of Science, a space dedicated to the study of the Milky Way Galaxy. The programming included a video package designed specifically for the museum’s planetarium, a six-minute loop featuring Brown and the 741 flagship Rover sneakers.

Later in the event, Brown and Nye were interviewed on stage by Jazylyn Guerra, better known as Jazzy’s World TV at the museum’s Omni Theater. Guests ranged from Boston Mayor Michelle Wu to his teammates Jayson Tatum and Derrick White, as well as students from Brown’s Bridge program at MIT. Here, Brown joked about the 741 style, claiming the outer space aesthetic is a little over the top for a good reason.

“If I have to dress like a freaking astronaut to get people to think about the future, so be it,” Brown explained.

That sci-fi motif is indeed an intentional one, and one that goes beyond the love for learning and education Brown says he inherited from his grandmother.

Instead, Brown hopes 741 can disrupt the status quo of the sneaker industry and how business is done more broadly. He believes that decentralizing power structures in fashion, sports, and beyond is an inescapable truth for the future, and something Brown hopes to advance. In outlining that vision, Brown evoked activist Fred Hampton.

“One of my favorite quotes from Fred Hampton is, ‘You can kill a person, but you can’t kill an idea,’” Brown said. “The idea I’m speaking to right now is decentralization. And it’s already here.”

“Decentralization is here, but why not the shoe industry? Why not every industry? I’m challenging everybody to continue this trend and continue this journey. It’s a new world,” Brown said.

Brown’s vision is an audacious one. But it’s consistent with how he has conducted himself since joining the Celtics and the types of projects he has launched in that time. Across education, apparel, economics, and more, Brown has sought to realize systemic change and empower the disenfranchised.

Brown told Celtics Wire he believes 741 is a continuation of how he has always viewed his understanding of the world and his place in it, dating back to his childhood. He confidently asserted his past self would not be surprised at all to see himself standing in the middle of the planetarium dressed in an athleisure space suit, although Brown did admit the challenges along the way have sometimes been a bit of a surprise.

“I could always imagine myself building something like this,” Brown said of 741. “But I would have had no idea how much work it actually took to get here. And I haven’t done it alone. I’ve had people help me along the way, I want to make sure I show light on them, too.”

One important person in that journey has been Jaylen’s brother Quenton Brown. The elder Brown has been a partner in many of Jaylen’s professional ventures over the years, and Quenton told Celtics Wire that his brother Jaylen has always been driven to pursue big dreams.

In particular, Quenton lauded his brother’s inquisitiveness and passion. “I think the best thing about Jaylen’s character is his curiosity,” the older Brown brother told Celtics Wire.

“He saw the ball when he was two, he chased that ball, and it led him to the NBA,” Quenton added. “He started learning about astrology and science and history. That led him to Cal Berkley. His curiosity leads him to some of the best place he’s ever been.”

Curiosity may be the mother of invention, but Brown will need more than an active imagination to achieve his stated goals. Disrupting the multi-billion dollar sneaker industry is a lofty endeavor, as are some of his other pursuits. This will demand focus and drive from Brown and his partners.

Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla told Celtics Wire he has little doubt that Brown is up for the challenge. Mazzulla has known Brown since he joined Boston in 2019, and as a result has had an intimate view of the type of person Brown has grown into as both a public figure and as a man.”I think the thing that I appreciate about Jaylen is that he doesn’t put himself in a box, and he’s not defined by just being an athlete,” Mazzulla said at the Museum of Science. “He defines himself by being who he really is, a well-rounded person who uses his platform to make an impact everywhere. Not just on the court, but in the community, with children, and in life.”

“He’s well-rounded, he’s well-educated, and he’s innately competitive in all environments. He uses that competitiveness to try and be the best in all areas,” Mazzulla added.

Friday’s event did have a practical purpose, and underscored a bit of Brown’s competitive side. The 2024 NBA Finals MVP revealed the new “White Noise” colorway for the 741 Rovers, so called because if you are still sleeping on the future, Brown will “play some white noise to help you keep sleeping.” It’s a cheeky line, and a wink at the edginess Brown is bringing to 741. (These shoes don’t yet have a release date, Brown said, and he hopes these will be available in the coming weeks.)

Brown’s curiosity was also on full display at the event. He and Nye spent much of their stage time discussing the particulars of nuclear fusion, the possibility of life on Jupiter’s moons, and the intersection of physics and basketball. The shoes and 741 often took a backseat to talking about other things, chatting about science simply for the sake of chatting about science.

Once again, there was method to Brown’s choices. In fact, he himself selected the venue for the event, seeking to provide the perfect setting for the evening.

“Jaylen actually chose us to do this launch,” Museum of Science president Tim Ritchie told Celtics Wire. “And I was so thrilled because it shows that he stands for so much. It takes courage to challenge the status quo and launch into something new. He cares about kids, and he will bring audiences to the museum that we can’t bring on our own.”

“Jaylen looks at things uniquely,” Ritchie continued, encouraging his supporters to come to the museum to do the same. “You won’t just see told stuff. You will see new stuff, and you will see it in new ways.”

Perhaps Brown’s ambition and drive can see 741 truly change the way the sneaker industry operates. Only time will tell. And hopefully his genuine passion and curiosity will help encourage Celtics fans to take a deeper interest in science, or even challenge the way of the world as they may see fit.

But Brown is, for now, first and foremost focused on his responsibilities as a basketball player. He said as such during Friday’s events, joking about always prioritizing his “day job” and not letting his “hobbies” interfere with his most important goal. Earlier in the evening, he spoke about his eagerness to win a second NBA title, an critical mission statement with the playoffs just a few weeks away.

Even on the court, however, Brown’s ethos and sense of self is making an impact for those around him. According to his friend and former teammate Tacko Fall, what Brown is pursuing will also help the basketball community.

Fall told Celtics Wire he thinks what 741 represents will impact players in the NBA and beyond. He too echoed what many others said about Brown’s character and ambition.

“This is all very typical of Jaylen,” Fall laughed. “He wants to create his own way, and I think he wants to create a way for others. He’s a very thoughtful guy, and I’m not surprised.”

“I think this is going to open up a lot of opportunities for us all and for other people. That’s really what he wants to do.”

Jaylen Brown And Payton Pritchard Epicly Fail Naming Artists On Jumbotron

Jaylen Brown And Payton Pritchard Epicly Fail Naming Artists On Jumbotron

During Sunday’s game between the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks, fans at the TD Garden were treated to an entertaining segment on the Jumbotron featuring Celtics stars Jaylen Brown and Payton Pritchard. The segment, which quickly went viral, showed Brown attempting to name a series of legendary musicians, with amusing results.

Brown was presented with images of various iconic artists and asked to identify them. Despite his best efforts, Brown struggled to name many of the musicians, leading to laughter and echoes of disbelief from the crowd.

When it then was Payton Pritchard’s turn to name the same artists, he did not do any better than Brown, to say it friendly. Both not being able to name Paul McCartney is pretty sad to be fair.

Jaylen Brown and Payton Pritchard Hilariously Fail at Naming Artists on Jumbotron – Celtics Fans Lose It!

The Boston Celtics may be dominating on the court, but when it comes to music trivia, Jaylen Brown and Payton Pritchard proved they might need some extra practice. During a recent home game at TD Garden, the Celtics stars participated in a Jumbotron challenge, attempting to name popular artists flashing across the screen. What ensued was a hilarious, cringe-worthy, and unexpectedly entertaining moment that sent the crowd—and social media—into a frenzy.

The Setup: A Fun In-Game Challenge Turns into Comedy Gold

During a timeout in the second quarter of the Celtics’ matchup, the TD Garden Jumbotron lit up with a fan-favorite segment: the “Name That Artist” challenge. The rules were simple—players had to correctly identify famous musicians based on their photos. Seated courtside, Jaylen Brown and Payton Pritchard were chosen to test their pop culture knowledge in front of thousands of fans.

At first, it seemed like an easy, lighthearted game, but it quickly became apparent that the Celtics duo was in for a struggle.

Jaylen and Payton’s Epic Struggles Begin

The first artist to appear on the screen? None other than Taylor Swift, the global pop sensation currently dominating the charts. The arena erupted with anticipation as Jaylen squinted at the screen, hesitated, and confidently blurted out, “Umm… Adele?”

The crowd roared with laughter. Pritchard, hoping to salvage the situation, leaned in and guessed, “Selena Gomez?” The camera quickly panned to Celtics fans shaking their heads in disbelief, some burying their faces in their hands.

And that was just the beginning of the disaster.

More Wild Guesses – And More Embarrassment

Next up was Drake, an artist with deep ties to the basketball world, often seen sitting courtside at NBA games and even name-dropping players in his lyrics. Surely, an easy one, right? Wrong.

Jaylen, still recovering from the Taylor Swift misfire, hesitated before guessing, “Travis Scott?”

Pritchard, looking equally lost, threw out “Lil Wayne?”

At this point, even Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla was caught on the Jumbotron shaking his head and laughing.

    Then came Rihanna.

Brown, clearly flustered, scratched his head and said, “Is that… Nicki Minaj?”

Pritchard, still desperate for redemption, muttered, “Beyoncé?”

At this point, TD Garden was in absolute hysterics, with even their teammates laughing from the bench.

Social Media Reacts – And It’s Brutal

As expected, fans wasted no time taking to Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok to roast and meme the Celtics stars’ hilarious failures. One viral tweet read, “Jaylen Brown just called Taylor Swift ADELE. Boston needs to revoke his music privileges.”

Another user posted a crying-laughing emoji along with the caption, “Payton Pritchard out here guessing Selena Gomez when it was clearly TAYLOR SWIFT. Bro needs a Spotify subscription ASAP.”

Even Celtics legend Paul Pierce chimed in, tweeting, “Smh. These young fellas gotta do better. Come on, Jaylen and Payton.”

The Players Respond – And Own Up to the L

After the game, reporters asked Brown and Pritchard about their now-viral Jumbotron blunder. Brown laughed it off, saying, “Man, that was rough. In my defense, the picture they used for Taylor Swift threw me off!”

Pritchard added, “I promise I know who Drake is. The lights got to me.”

The Celtics’ official social media page even joined in on the fun, posting a video of the Jumbotron segment with the caption: “Jaylen & Payton vs. Music Trivia – And The Winner is… not them. 💀😂”

Final Thoughts – A Moment to Remember

While their music knowledge may need some serious improvement, Jaylen Brown and Payton Pritchard’s Jumbotron performance gave Celtics fans a priceless moment of entertainment. In the end, the duo took their L in stride, and the whole event only added to the team’s camaraderie and connection with fans.

And who knows? Maybe next time, they’ll be a little more prepared—or at least make sure to brush up on their Taylor Swift and Drake trivia before stepping into the Jumbotron spotlight again.

Last season, the Knicks found themselves in an awkward position. They finished second place in the Eastern Conference standings behind the Celtics, but it was a distant second.

Boston won 14 more regular-season games than New York, and beat the Knicks four of the five times they met in the regular-season. The Knicks ran out of gas and healthy bodies during the Eastern Conference semifinals against Indiana, losing in seven games.

So, they reloaded. They traded five first-round picks to Brooklyn in exchange for Mikal Bridges, a versatile wing who is a career 37-percent 3-point shooter and was a First Team All-Defensive team selection in 2022. They resigned OG Anunoby to a five-year $212 million contract extension. Then, they acquired Karl-Anthony Towns in a three-team trade that sent Julius Randle and Donte Divincenzo to Minnesota.

The series of moves was designed to bring the Knicks closer to the Celtics’ level, but the Celtics have won all three of their matchups with the Knicks this season, and remain four games in front of third-place New York.

Celtics forward Jaylen Brown said those moves, especially the ones teams have made involving wings such as Bridges in an attempt to match up better with him and Jayson Tatum, have been a source of motivation.

“Absolutely,” Brown said when asked if the moves affected his motivation level.”I don’t think I need to explain why, but it does. So, we’ll be ready. Just the playoffs, we want to be healthy. The Cavs, the Knicks, they’re good teams, so anything can happen. We’ve got to focus on the details, but I’m looking forward to it.”

Cleveland, which holds the NBA’s best record (46-10) and the top spot in the Eastern Conference, traded for 6-foot-8 wing DeAndre Hunter who has averaged 14.8 points per game in his career. He’ll be another scoring threat and lengthy body on defense for Boston to deal with.

Opponents adding pieces to challenge the defending champs is nothing new, Tatum said.

Jaylen Brown finds motivation in other teams’ moves to keep up with him and Jayson Tatum

“It’s just the responsibility that you have when you win the championship,” he said. “When the Warriors were going on their run, teams were their team to compete with them. When Denver won the championship, Minnesota built that team to kind of beat Denver.

“So, there is a responsibility that comes with — when you’re the champs and you’re the standard,” he added. “Guys or teams try to build their team to compete with that style of play or whatever it may be.”

The Celtics have the third best record in the NBA. Cleveland and OKC have consistently been at the top of the standings.

The Celtics are 2-1 against Cleveland this season. They lost their first matchup against OKC by 13, and are scheduled for a rematch on March 12.

When they’re at their best, the Celtics are really tough to beat. They’ve been up-and-down, particularly at home. They are focused on bringing the best out of themselves, Tatum said.

“The most important challenge that we have is just focusing on us,” Tatum said. “There’s no guarantee who are are going to play in the playoffs, but we’ll be up for the challenge whoever we play. Our biggest motivation is with ourselves and being the best version of us and trying to get a little bit better every day.”

Baby crawl racer goes viral for absolutely smoking competition

The New Orleans Pelicans may have stumbled into finding their franchise player for the 2050-51 season at the team’s annual baby crawl race event.

On Sunday, the Pelicans hosted the San Antonio Spurs for a Western Conference clash at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, La. The basketball game was just the appetizer for the night’s main event, the baby crawl race.

Thirteen babies and their parents living within a 150-mile radius of New Orleans gathered for the annual halftime event. One stood — nay — crawled above the rest.
Baby No. 11 wins the Pelicans' baby crawl race
The competitor was introduced with the moniker “New Bawlin,” but it was the rest of the field that was left bawling as baby No. 11 put on an all-time performance. Witness the greatness for yourself.

Here’s another angle of the baby crawl race clinic put on by “New Bawlin.”

Given how tall No. 11’s father looks, the baby may have the genetics to become a player worth drafting in a few decades. After all, the baby already has the competitive spirit and work ethic to get there.

The Smoothie King crowd was largely quiet as the Pelicans fell into a 53-40 hole against the Spurs during the first half. Baby No. 11 gave them all something to cheer about amid the Pelicans’ nightmare 2024-25 season.

Throwback: When Justin Timberlake Watched Britney Kiss Madonna

The 2003 MTV VMAs featured one of the most talked about moments in award show history; the moment when Britney Spears kissed Madonna. The moment was so over-the-top, in fact, that many people don’t even care that Madonna also locked lips with Christina Aguilera right afterwards.

At the time, just about everyone was elated to see the performance of a lifetime. The performance married three of the biggest entertainers in the world and had people in complete shock. One of the most talked about reactions following the kiss-heard-round-the-world was that of Justin Timberlake’s, Britney’s ex-boyfriend.

At the time, one of the camera crew members zoomed in on Justin, who looked less than impressed and a bit uncomfortable.

Britney and Justin split in 2002 after dating for nearly four years. Things didn’t end well for the couple and the end of their romance was laced with cheating rumors. Justin supposedly turned to his music to cope with the love loss and betrayal, penning “Cry Me a River” which has long-been believed to reveal the real reason behind the breakup. Justin even had a Britney look-alike in the music video. In 2003, Britney responded with her very own song. “Everytime” has long been known to fans as her public apology to Justin.

Here’s what you need to know:

Justin Timberlake’s Face as He Watched Britney Kiss Madonna Was Priceless

Britney and Christina were wearing white wedding gowns when they appeared on stage next to Madonna, who wore all black for the performance. The crazy kiss happened during a rendition of Madonna’s song, “Hollywood,” which was towards the end of the rehearsed medley.

“Everybody comes to Hollywood, they wanna make it in the neighborhood. They like the smell of it in Hollywood, how could it hurt you when it looks so good?” Madonna sang into the microphone as she seductively interacted with both Britney and Christina. As she sang the very last line, she lifted Spears’ face to her own and the two shared a steamy smooch.

The camera quickly panned to Justin, who didn’t show very much emotion but looked a bit uncomfortable. You can see Justin’s reaction at the 3:57 mark in the video above. After the kiss, Missy Elliot came out to keep the epic performance going.

Justin Later Talked to Access Hollywood About the Britney/Madonna Kiss

After the kiss went down, Justin chatted with Pat O’Brien from Access Hollywood and explained his somewhat strange reaction.

When asked what he thought of the opening number, Justin said “it was very glossy.”

Then Pat said that he “loved the expression” on Justin’s face “when they kissed.”

“Come on, man. Well, the expression came from the fact that the cameras were, you know, right after the kiss, they were like…” Justin said, making a zooming-in motion. “And I was like, come on. Come on.”

Pat went on to ask if Justin thought it was sexy.

“It’s always sexy. I’m not going to take that away from anybody up there,” he said.
