Three of Swift’s shows were canceled earlier this month in Vienna, Austria after authorities foiled an alleged terror plot

Taylor Swift is speaking out for the first time after a terror plot prompted the cancellation of three of her Eras Tour dates — and explaining why she initially chose to stay silent.

In a lengthy Instagram post shared following the conclusion of her European leg of the tour, Swift said that playing her final few dates in London was a “rollercoaster of emotions” after three shows in Vienna were canceled amid a foiled terror plot.

“Having our Vienna shows canceled was devastating. The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows,” she wrote in a post on Wednesday, Aug. 21. “But I was also so grateful to the authorities because thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives.”

The “Fortnight” singer, 34, said she was “heartened by the love and unity” she saw among fans in the aftermath, as many fans in Vienna flooded the streets to sing Swift’s songs together and exchange friendship bracelets, which has become a tradition at her shows.

Swift wrote that after Vienna, she and her team worked closely with British authorities to ensure that her five nights at London’s Wembley Stadium — which wrapped on Tuesday, Aug. 20 — would go off without a hitch.

Swift’s post came two weeks after the shows were canceled, and the Grammy winner had caught flak from some for not addressing the cancellations directly. But in her post, she explained why she’d stayed silent.

“Let me be very clear: I am not going to speak about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke those who would want to harm the fans who come to my shows,” she wrote. “In cases like this one, ‘silence’ is actually showing restraint, and waiting to express yourself at a time when it’s right to. My priority was finishing our European tour safely, and it is with great relief that I can say we did that.”

Swift praised her London shows as feeling like a “beautiful dream sequence,” and said the performances restored in her a sense of “carefree calm” onstage.

In a comment on the post, she thanked the many guests that joined her onstage during her London shows, including Ed Sheeran, Florence Welch and Jack Antonoff, and called it a “dizzying honor” to become the first solo artist to play Wembley eight times in one tour.

“To the fans who have seen us this summer, you’ll always have the most sparkling place in my memories,” she concluded. “You were a dream to perform for, dance with, and share those magical moments with. We’ll see you all again when we resume The Eras Tour in October, but for now we get to take a much needed rest. Thank you for the adventure of a lifetime. May it continue…”

On Aug. 7, authorities announced that two Austrian men — a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old — had been arrested in connection with a planned attack on Swift’s shows, which were scheduled to take place at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna from Aug. 8 to 10. The AP reported that the older of the two wanted to “kill as many people as possible” in an attack using explosives and knives.

Two days later, Austrian authorities announced a third arrest in connection with the foiled plot, an 18-year-old they believe has links to ISIS.

The arrests came just days after three young girls were killed in a stabbing at a Swift-themed yoga class in Southport, England.

The pop star later invited two survivors from the tragic event to meet her amid her Eras Tour stop in London.

“You drew stars around my scars 💫🥹 ….,” mom Sami Foster wrote in the heartfelt caption of a viral TikTok that features a montage of photos of Swift with the family. The lyrics are from the singer’s song “Cardigan” on her 2020 album Folklore.

The Trump campaign has gotten Beyoncé’s attention for all the wrong reasons.

Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for Donald Trump, shared a video on his own X account of the former president walking off a plane on Tuesday, Aug. 20, set to the track “Freedom” off Beyoncé’s 2016 album Lemonade. “Touchdown in Michigan!! @realDonaldTrump,” the caption read.

The use of the song, which also features Kendrick Lamar, instantly caught attention online, as Democratic nominee Kamala Harris has used it at several campaign events.

Kamala Harris Debuts Campaign’s New Beyoncé Theme Song, ‘Freedom,’ in First 2024 Election Ad: ‘A Winner Don’t Quit’

While Beyoncé, 42, has not commented on the video, Rolling Stone reported on Wednesday, Aug. 21, that the Trump campaign did not have permission to use the track and that the singer has threatened to send the Republican presidential nominee’s camp a cease-and-desist. PEOPLE has reached out to a representative for Beyoncé for comment.

The Harris campaign most recently used the track in a new ad unveiled on Monday, Aug. 19, during the first day of the Democratic National Convention.

Although Beyoncé has not officially endorsed Harris, she’s voiced her support for the Democratic party on various occasions, including in 2013, when she sang the national anthem at former President Barack Obama’s inauguration. In 2020, she posted a social media clip encouraging voters for current President Joe Biden.

Taylor Swift may be on the road, but she still has a special piece of jewelry keeping boyfriend Travis Kelce close.

While the Grammy winner, 34, has been performing around the globe on the Eras Tour, she still continues to wear the custom “TNT” diamond tennis bracelet gifted to her by the football star and made by Wove Made Inc. Jewelers.

She revealed so in the new music video for “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.” The visuals for the upbeat track features various clips of the pop icon rehearsing the song and, you guessed it, wearing the accessory. The hidden Easter egg was first reported by Page Six.

The “Fortnight” singer first debuted the 14K yellow gold bracelet, which is made of 4.62 carats worth of lab-grown diamonds, including the ones encrusted on the TNT charms (which stands for their initials), on Jan. 28 at the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens.

She wore the bespoke piece again at the 2024 Super Bowl among other Chiefs-coded merch, including a pair of black booties with a crystal red-and-gold “87” on the outside and a custom #87 Judith Leiber football-shaped crystal bag.

On both occasions, she teamed the bracelet with chic game-day looks, but while on tour, she’s been pairing it with laid-back rehearsal outfits, like a Popflex lilac skort set and a gray denim minidress.

Simone Kendle, CEO of Wove Made Inc. told PEOPLE back in February that Kelce also has his version of the bracelet.

Taylor Swift Rocks $1,670 Earring Featuring Sweet Diamond ‘T’ Heart Charm at Eras Tour Show in London

Swift is a big fan of personalized jewelry and, in addition to her wrist candy from Kelce, she’s worn other initial-inspired designs on tour.

Just last week, she hit the stage in an earring made by FoundRae, which is actually one of her favorite jewelry brands. During her Aug. 15 concert at Wembley Stadium, where she did a five-run show, fans clocked her 18K gold hoop earring adorned with a diamond-encrusted “T.”

On the other ear was another “T” earring with a small letter charm. Yes they stand for Taylor, but they also stand for Travis, and her wearing the jewelry is a small but sweet nod to their love story.

Entering the stadium after queuing for the 90,000 capacity venue, the pair looked like they were on a serious mission as they sped walk to the barricade at the front of the stage.

Dressed in their sparkly gold and pink tasseled jackets and face gems, the pair were overcome with emotion as they secured the front row spot.

Immediately breaking down in tears, the girl appeared to sob as she sat down on the floor to reserve her spot ahead of Taylor’s performance.

‘Thank you to everyone who queued properly’.

Tuesday night marks Taylor’s eighth show at the London venue after a series of five consecutive shows in London and three back in June.

It has been a difficult time for Taylor, who was forced to cancel three gigs in Vienna this month after it emerged ISIS had planned to target her fans.

The plot came shortly after three young girls were murdered at a Taylor Swift themed dance class in Southport, Merseyside.

Her Wembley show on August 15 marked Taylor’s first performance since both incidents, which have no doubt been hard for her to navigate.

A source told the The Sun how she would be putting on the ‘best show of her life’ for the five nights in London.

An insider told the publication: ‘Everything Taylor does is for her fans and she will be putting on the best show of her life when she returns to Wembley.

‘Hate never wins and Taylor absolutely stands for that. Her shows are about love, unity and acceptance, and this is a message she will always want to convey.’

Supporters of Taylor, 34, have been guessing when she is going to announce the re-recording of her album Reputation – referred to as Rep TV (Taylor’s Version)

‘They will be back hard at work tomorrow for the first night at Wembley. It was packed in Annabel’s as there were 200 of them there, but it was a great night. Everyone was so appreciative of Taylor’s efforts.’

And fans are convinced that the superstar is going to make a huge announcement during her final night at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday.

Supporters of the Cruel Summer hitmaker have been guessing when she is going to announce the re-recording of her album Reputation – referred to as Rep TV (Taylor’s Version).

And fans are convinced that Tuesday’s show – the last on the European leg of the tour – will be when she announces the album.

During Monday’s show Taylor battled through a series of errors to still put on one hell of a show in London.

Experiencing the worst of the unpredictable British weather, Taylor performed in the open air arena as the heavens opened.

Yet she took it all in her stride as she declared to the crowd – which included her ex Taylor Lautner – ‘I think when it rains for more than like SIX MINUTES we can officially declare it a rain show!’

As the rain poured, Taylor also struggled with her piano, having to call over a member of the crew to help her fix a fault.

Despite the drizzle and the mishap, the crowd were in great spirits, with the likes of Channing Tatum and Zoe Kravitz leading the celebrity attendees, while in the pits there was another surprise proposal from a fan.

One notably absent face from the crowd, however, was Harry Styles – with the One Direction star a no-show after fans were convinced he’d make an appearance.

Yet while it wasn’t meant to be, the singer had no problem captivating the crowd all by herself.

JD Vance has gone viral after a resurfaced clip showed him making remarks about vice president Kamala Harris and others, which have been slammed as “sexist.” In the 2021 clip, Donald Trump’s running mate was heard telling former Fox News host Tucker Carlson that the country was run by “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable too.” JD Vances faces wrath of Taylor Swift fans after old clip shows him blasting ‘childless cat ladies’ (TIME Magazine, AP Photo/Julia Nikhinson)JD Vances faces wrath of Taylor Swift fans after old clip shows him blasting ‘childless cat ladies’ (TIME Magazine, AP Photo/Julia Nikhinson)

“Look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC, the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children,” Vance added. “How does it make any sense we’ve turned our country over to people who don’t really have a direct stake in it?”

Now, as the clip resurfaced, Vance began facing the wrath of fans of Taylor Swift, who is childless and is a proud cat mom. She is known to have several cats, including two Scottish Folds named Olivia Benson and Meredith Grey and a Ragdoll cat named Benjamin Button.

‘So sick of the “baby factory” misogyny’

An X post with an image of Swift with a cat is captioned, “hell hath no fury like a certain childless cat lady who has yet to endorse a presidential candidate”. Many users took to the comment section, with one of them saying, “A lot of cat ladies are gonna be mad”. “So sick of the “baby factory” misogyny,” one user said, while another wrote, “I hope @taylorswift13 comes out for Kamala and against all these sexist comments from the Trumplican party and Trump himself.”

“Do they think that childless single people don’t vote?!” one user wrote, while another said, “News flash, JD, not all men want kids either. My husband didn’t, thank God. We have had lots of cats over the years though. And we’re quite happy.” “They will go absolutely mad when Swift endorses VP Harris. Just a matter of time. @taylorswift13, how about some concerts in your native PA and also MI, AZ, NC and GA?” one user wrote.

‘These people recognize that they’re unhappy’

The resurfaced clip came after Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed Harris. Harris is married to longtime entertainment lawyer Doug Emhoff, and has two step-children named Ella and Cole Emhoff.

During the conversation with Carlson, Vance also suggested that “if we want a healthy ruling class in this country, we should invest more, we should vote more, we should support more people who actually have kids. Because those are the people who ultimately have a more direct stake in the future of this country.”

On facing backlash for his comments, Vance had said that he believes he “struck a nerve.” “I mean, these people recognize that they’re unhappy. They’re living in one-bedroom apartments in New York City. They’ve played their entire lives to win a status game. They’re obsessed with their jobs,” he said, suggesting that they “hate normal Americans for choosing family.” Vance also said that these people would be “happier coming home to a smiling kid” than “worrying about their crappy job.”

‘They came up with the name ‘Momala’’

Harris, however, has appeared to be perfectly happy in her personal life. She wrote in Elle in 2019, “I was already hooked on Doug, but I believe it was Cole and Ella who reeled me in.”

“A few years later when Doug and I got married, Cole, Ella, and I agreed that we didn’t like the term ‘stepmom.’ Instead they came up with the name ‘Momala,’” she said.

“He has mentioned it and so we have a nice something for Travis. He is going to come by,” Sandler said, noting that the footballer is a “very nice guy.”

“You guys would love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy,” he added. “He’s a stud and he’s so funny.”

Kelce — who also plays golf — mentioned the movie sequel in a May episode of his podcast New Heights. During the episode, he was talking about being open to new acting opportunities after landing a role in Ryan Murphy’s Grotesquerie horror series.

Meghan Markle put the concept of “women helping women” into action with a small, unexpected gesture during her visit to Colombia with Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, joined a panel dedicated to highlighting and uplifting Afro-Colombian women on Aug. 18. At one point during the discussion, Meghan stood up and walked to the side of the stage, where she adjusted a fan to face the panelists, as seen in a video of the event.

Colombian Vice President Francia Márquez, who was on stage with Meghan, started applauding and the other panelists laughed as they realized what she was doing.

As she returned to her seat, Meghan said in Spanish, “Women helping women.”

A fellow panelist replied in Spanish, “Well done, thank you. And what’s more, [women] resolving the situation, thank you so much.”

She spoke Spanish while visiting a kindergarten class, telling one boy in the language, “You’re the same age as my son,” referencing 5-year-old Prince Archie.

Following the panel, Meghan also did some translating for Prince Harry as they addressed the crowd at the Petronio Music Festival in Cali, celebrating Afro-Colombian music and dance.

Meghan honed her language abilities while she interned at the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and studied abroad in Madrid, Spain.

Delivering the rest of her answers at the panel in English, Meghan spoke about feeling “fortunate” at a young age to “feel as though my voice was being heard, and I think that is a luxury that a lot of young girls and women aren’t often afforded.”

“For us and the work that we do with the Archewell Foundation, certainly the work that we do as parents and that I do as a mother, is ensuring that young girls feel as though their voices are being heard and also that young boys are being raised to listen and to hear those young women as well,” she said, adding of Prince Harry, 39, “As my husband is great testament to, the role of men in this…is key.”

Meghan later shared that her 3-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet, is already learning to use her voice.

“Part of the role modeling that I certainly try to do as a mother is to encourage our daughter — who, at 3, she has found her voice,” Meghan said. “And we’re so proud of that because that is how we, as I was saying, create the conditions in which there’s a ripple effect of young girls and young women knowing that if someone else is encouraging them to use their voice and be heard, that’s what they’re going to do.”

Taylor Swift Gets Emotional During Nearly 8-Minute Standing Ovation on L.A. ‘Eras Tour’ Stop

‘That was so deeply abnormal and beautiful,’ she told the crowd at Tuesday night’s concert.

Taylor Swift enjoyed a “deeply abnormal and beautiful” moment during her latest stop on The Eras tour in Los Angeles, California.

After performing “Champagne Problems” during Tuesday’s concert at SoFi Stadium, Swift got emotional as the audience delivered a standing ovation for nearly eight minutes.

“What do I say to you after that?” she asked the crowd. “That was so deeply abnormal and beautiful. I don’t know what to do or say.”

She continued, “I think it’s safe to say that I, like all people, will experience a certain amount of emotional downward spirals throughout the course of the rest of my life and in those moments, you can rest assured I’m gonna think about what you just did. And I’m gonna feel better. So thank you. That was insane. It was crazy.”

Swift took some time to collect herself, admitting that she was still struggling to come up with an appropriate reaction as she rambled on.

“I’m going to spend several decades trying to figure out words for how that just made me feel,” she said. “I’m trying to get it together. I’ve completely lost control over my brain — and that’s your fault.”

She concluded, “I’m just gonna float through the rest of the show, so thanks for that.”

Before that, amid the applause, Swift was captured looking shocked and moved in several videos on social media. While she stayed quiet, she could be seen shaking her head while mouthing things like, “Oh my God,” “What do I do?” and “I have lost control of the crowd.”

Tuesday marked Swift’s fifth night at SoFi Stadium, her second-to-last performance on the first U.S. leg of her tour. She’ll wrap up in Los Angeles with a final bow on Wednesday, Aug. 9, before kicking off her international dates on Aug. 24 in Mexico City, Mexico.

While celebrities have attended The Eras Tour in droves all across the country, Swift’s L.A. performances have been particularly star-studded. Among her most recent concertgoers are Selena Gomez, Emma Stone, Charlize Theron, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Taylor Lautner, Cameron Diaz, Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Costner, Sophia Bush, Victoria Justice, Ashley Greene, Zoe Saldana, Sofia Richie, Haley Lu Richardson, Michelle Monaghan, Camilla Luddington, Mariska Hargitay, Courteney Cox and Kaia Gerber, to name just a few.

Travis Kelce will be supporting girlfriend Taylor Swift on tour — but not just yet! It’s been less than one week since Kelce, 34, and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers in the 2024 Super Bowl, and the football star is still enjoying some well-earned rest.

On Saturday afternoon, the Chiefs tight end — hot off of a second consecutive Super Bowl win — spent some time with a friend in Kansas City, Missouri, photos obtained by Daily Mail show. In the photos, Kelce drove a Rolls Royce and walked on the sidewalk with the pal while heading to local spot, Rye, according to the outlet, to grab a bite to eat.

While Kelce strolled around Kansas City in casualwear — an acid-wash sweatsuit and black snapback — Swift was back in her Eras Tour wardrobe in Australia, where she recently resumed the latest leg of the record-breaking tour after attending Kelce’s championship game last week.

On Friday, the pop star played the first of seven Australian shows at Melbourne Cricket Ground, which was “the biggest show that we have done on this tour or any tour I have ever done,” she told the crowd on the night in a clip shared on X (formerly Twitter).

The following night, Swift delighted fans with a medley of “Getaway Car,” “August” and “The Other Side of the Door,” during the surprise portion of her setlist, while during Sunday’s show at the same venue, she also talked about the huge crowds in attendance at her three Melbourne performances. In a clip posted on X, she told the audience: “The math is that it’s 288,000 people in three nights.” She continued. “Melbourne, you are the love of my life. I cannot believe you, what have you done.”

Following the Australian leg, Swift will make her way to Singapore in early March. Then, in May, the hitmaker will set off on a long string of European dates — more than four dozen shows through August — starting in Paris and ending in London. And while her football star beau doesn’t appear to have joined her at the international dates as of Sunday, a source close to the Kelce family told PEOPLE that the player plans to spend time in the NFL offseason supporting Swift — just like she did at 13 games over his season.

“Football is everything to him. He lives and breathes it. But he’s ready for some downtime now and to show up for Taylor the way she has for him,” the insider told PEOPLE. “The attention on them is definitely a lot, but Travis has done a great job deflecting and focusing on what’s important.”

Taylor Swift has lifted the lid on her Eras Tour in the new music video for I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.

The 13-time Grammy Award-winner, 34, dropped the video on Tuesday to mark the latest single off her album, The Tortured Poets Department.

It featured behind-the-scenes footage of Swift rehearsing for the epic tour that’s already raked in over $1billion in ticket sales.

Much of the nearly four-minute clip showed her practicing choreography for the Eras Tour performance of I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.

Fans hoped Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce, 34, would make a cameo in the BTS footage as he famously joined her on stage for the song at her London show in June.

The 13-time Grammy Award-winner, 34, dropped the video on Tuesday to mark the latest single off her album, The Tortured Poets Department

The NFL star was in full costume in a black suit and top hat for the surprise appearance on June 22 as he carried Swift in his arms while she sang for the massive crowd at Wembley Stadium.

But Kelce was nowhere to be found in Swift’s I Can Do It With A Broken Heart video as she, instead, spotlighted her incredible tour crew.

The video begins with a time lapse of thousands of fans pouring into one of the many sold-out venues Swift has performed in since she began touring in March 2023.

Next, the acclaimed singer-songwriter is seen partaking in a pre-show huddle with her dancers, backup singers, band and tour management before heading to stage.

An excited looking Swift crawls under the stage in preparation for her grand entrance at the top of the show, which sees her rise up from the floor.

The video then gives fans a look at the varying degrees of rehearsals Swift and her team endure before delivering the final product to concertgoers.

They kick it off by going over choreography in a near-empty warehouse before slipping into costumes and running through tech rehearsals — which tests the lighting cues, Swift’s mic, song transitions, etc.

Fans were thrilled to see behind-the-scenes of the Eras Tour as they flocked to social media to react to Swift’s new video.

They especially loved seeing the crew that helps bring the concert to life.

Some speculated that the music video was a hint that Swift plans to release an Eras Tour documentary in the future.

Last October, the billionaire released an Eras Tour concert film in theaters that made more than $261.6 million at the worldwide box office.

But the film was a play-by-play of the three-hour concert, not a behind-the-scenes documentary.

Last month, Swift confirmed that I Can Do It With A Broken Heart would be the second single off her acclaimed new album, The Tortured Poets Department, which was released on April 19.

The news was confirmed by Swift’s official fan club, Taylor Nation, on July 16.

‘We’re so depressed we act like it’s #ICanDoItWithABrokenHeart’s birthday every day! But today is special because Taylor’s declaring it the next single from #TSTTPD!’ the Instagram post read.

They also included the cover art for the new single, which was a black-and-white still image of Taylor performing on the Eras Tour.

When Swift released TTPD in April, the song Fortnight featuring Post Malone served as the lead single.

Swift also released an accompanying high-budget music video.

On Tuesday, Swift wrapped her final London concert at Wembley Stadium and will now enjoy a months-long break from tour.

She will resume tour in November with her final shows in North America.

The Eras Tour kicked off in March 2023 and is now the highest-grossing concert tour of all time.

Amid the tour, Swift fell in love with NFL star Kelce, who she secretly began dating in August 2023 after he tried to link up with her at her Kansas City concert that July.

The couple have been going strong since confirming their romance in September 2023.

Last month, a source told PEOPLE that Swift and Kelce are ‘really are very, very happy together.

‘They’re very serious about each other, and the relationship feels different for both of them.’

The source close to the couple also said that they ‘have so much fun together.’

‘It’s funny to their friends because at first everyone wondered what they had in common, but you realize how similar they are,’ the insider added.

‘They both wear their hearts on their sleeves and are all-in with everything they do, whether it’s with career, family or friends.’

Earlier this month, Page Six claimed that the couple were ‘getting engaged soon.’

The outlet reported that the wife of a top Chiefs executive was overheard telling her friends that Kelce and Swift were already engaged in a suite at a Morgan Wallen concert in Kansas City on Thursday.

It is unclear if she accidentally slipped up about a secret betrothal or if she was just repeating rumors.

However, a representative for Kelce denied any official engagement plans in a statement to the outlet.
