A look back at the iconic making of Bon Jovi

Since forming in 1983, Bon Jovi has had an incredible career, spanning three decades.

With a number of accolades, including a Grammy under their belt, the band was still hitting the road as of late. They are currently on a North American tour.  However, the band took a pause on Sunday, after it was revealed that their former bassist had died.

Here’s a look at the iconic rock band through the years.

The Wild Ones

John Francis Bongiovi Jr., known professionally as Jon Bon Jovi, and keyboard player David Bryan began playing music together in New Jersey as the band called Atlantic City Expressway in the early ‘70s. Jon formed a few other groups through the years and recorded his first single, “Runaway,” in 1980 with studio musicians before re-recording the song for a compilation album on local New York station, WAPP 103.5FM “The Apple.”

As the song picked up plays on radio airwaves in 1983, Jovi used the opportunity to put a full band together. He enlisted the help of Bryan who reached out to bassist Alec John Such and also knew drummer Tico Torres, while Jon scouted out local guitarist Richie Sambora — a hometown performer recommended by Such and Torres.

Bryan had been pursuing music at the Juilliard School at the time, and completely quit college to follow Jovi’s lead and create a band unlike anything anyone had ever heard before.

The guys were signed by Mercury Records and recorded their self-titled debut album with mega-manager Doc McGhee (who worked with Kiss, Mötley Crüe and Skid Row) in 1984, which included “Runaway,” and peaked at No. 43 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

Their second album, 7800° Fahrenheit, was released in 1985 and went certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), but didn’t meet the band’s high expectations for a sophomore catalog. The new music did allow Bon Jovi to continue touring around the world, and also perform at the first Farm Aid in 1985.

“Livin on a Prayer”

Bon Jovi began to stray from heavy metal and worked with songwriter extraordinaire Desmond Child to create a more mainstream sound for their third album, Slippery When Wet, which was released in 1986 and became an instant commercial success.

With classic hits including, “You Give Love a Bad Name,” “Wanted Dead or Alive,” and “Livin on a Prayer,” the album spent eight weeks at the No. 1 spot on the US Billboard 200 chart and was named the top-selling album of 1987 — cementing the band’s rock star status in stone.

“Slippery When Wet” is still Bon Jovi’s best-selling album to date, and has earned RIAA 12 times platinum certification, making it one of the top 100 best-selling albums in the United States.

They spent the year touring on behalf of the album and headlined 130 shows on the “Tour Without End,” which grossed more than $28 million.

Their fourth album was released in September 1988, titled New Jersey, and peaked at No. 1 on the charts in the US, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, UK, and Australia.

New Jersey produced five Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including “Bad Medicine” and “I’ll Be There for You,” both of which reached No. 1 on the charts. The music video for “Living in Sin” was banned by MTV for sexual content and had to be re-edited before appearing in heavy rotation on the network.

They visited 22 countries and performed in more than 230 shows on a worldwide tour from 1989 through 1990 until going on hiatus where Jon and Richie both released successful solo albums.

Jon married his high school sweetheart, Dorothea Hurley, at the Graceland Wedding Chapel, in Las Vegas during a stop on the New Jersey tour, and the couple now has four children together.

Keep the Faith

Unhappy with the music industry, Jon fired his longtime business advisers, including McGhee in 1991, and formed Bon Jovi Management. The band changed directions once again with a more serious pop-metal approach, and worked with Metallica and Aerosmith producer Bob Rock on their fifth album, Keep the Faith, in 1992.

They followed with the greatest hits album in 1994 titled Cross Road, which included the tracks “Always” and “Someday I’ll Be Saturday Night.” “Always” became Bon Jovi’s best-selling single and topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts for six months.

But things were not going well for the band outside of music, and Alec John Such left the group in 1994. Jon said at the time: “Of course it hurts. But I learned to accept and respect it. The fact that I’m a workaholic, studio in, studio out, stage on, stage off, want to be dealing with music day and night, doesn’t mean everyone else has to adjust to that pace. Alec wanted to quit for a while now, so it didn’t come as a complete surprise.”

Bon Jovi recorded “These Days” in 1995 and went on 126-show tour before returning home and agreeing to a self-imposed two-year sabbatical from the group.

“Wanted Dead or Alive”

Five years after their last group effort, Bon Jovi released “Crush” in June 2000 through Island Records, and became the first Bon Jovi album ever to be nominated for a Grammy award with “It’s My Life” becoming one of the group’s most successful songs to date.

They entered the studio again in spring 2002 and began recording their eighth studio album “Bounce,” which was influenced by the September 11 terrorist attacks.

“Have a Nice Day” was released in September 2005 and featured “Who Says You Can’t Go Home,” which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs and earned Bon Jovi the “Best Country Collaboration with Vocals” Grammy award with Jennifer Nettles in February 2007.

A tour to accompany the catalog was a commercial success and grossed $191 million with the group playing to more than two million fans between 2005-2006.

The Lost Highway Tour, which began in October 2007 and ran through July 2008, was the highest-grossing tour of 2008 with ticket sales of $210 million.

Jon and Richie were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in June 2009, and released their eleventh studio album with the band that same year, The Circle.

Forbes listed Jon as one of the world’s highest paid musicians, raking in approximately $125 million in 2011. At one point, Jon owned a professional arena football team in Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Soul, and was ranked one of “The Most Powerful and Influential People in the Music Business.”

Sambora reportedly missed portions of the 2007 tour for a rehab stint following the end of his marriage to Heather Locklear. He returned for treatment once again in 2011 to address addiction issues.

“I’ll Be There For You”

In 2013, Sambora made the difficult decision to leave the band, which he later admitted was solely out of needing time to be with his family. Sambora and Locklear have a daughter named Ava.

He credited Bon Jovi’s intense tour schedule with barely being able to get face time with his family, and he said life on the road simply wasn’t sustainable.

“Luckily I was making enough money to be able to have a private plane, get my a– home and see my kid even if it was only for one day. If it was Halloween, it was boom, home,” he told People magazine in 2020.

“When I look back and start to list the tours… 18-and-a-half months of being on the road, 52 countries… It’s like, wow. It was really time for a break. We did that 14 times over a 31-year period,” he said.

The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018 after earning the spot by winning the fan ballot with more than one million votes. Howard Stern gave the speech at the ceremony, and Jon invited Sambora and Such to perform with the band.

Jon revealed the band was recording its 15th studio album to be released in 2020, with an accompanying self-titled tour, which had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tour was later canceled and the album was released in October. On Jan. 7, the band announced the tour would begin again in April with shows across the country.

But the group hit a tragic note when Bon Jovi announced the death of Alec John Such, who died at the age of 70, on June 5.

“We are heartbroken to hear the news of the passing of our dear friend Alec John Such,” Bon Jovi posted on their Twitter account Sunday.

“He was an original. As a founding member of Bon Jovi, Alec was integral to the formation of the band. … To be honest, we found our way to each other thru him — He was a childhood friend of Tico [Torres] and brought Richie [Sambora] to see us perform. Alec was always wild and full of life. Today these special memories bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. We will miss him dearly.”

Tributes came pouring in on social media for the rock star, who has shared the stage with legendary musicians alike throughout a decades-long career, with Jon sharing the band’s tweet to his own account: “Alec, you will be missed.”

David Bryan wrote: “RIP my soul brother…. It was an honor and pleasure to share the stage and to share life with you…..”

Such played in The Message in the early ‘80s with Sambora before joining Bon Jovi. He left the group in 1994 due to feeling “burned out,” but reunited with the band for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2018.

“When Jon Bon Jovi called me up and asked me to be in his band many years ago, I soon realized how serious he was, and he had a vision that he wanted to bring us to, and I am too happy to have been a part of that vision,” he said.

He continued: “These guys are the best. We had so many great times together and we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for those guys. Love them to death and always will.”

The video posted shows Middletoп walkiпg through a greeп forest with her family, uпder the trees aпd iп the greeпery. Iп the voiceover, Middletoп shares how the difficult several moпths allowed her aпd Priпce William to “be grateful” for thiпgs they oпce took for graпted, iпcludiпg their love.

“Doiпg what I caп to stay caпcer-free is пow my focus,” she coпtiпues, shariпg that she will be participatiпg iп several more public eveпts iп the пext few moпths. (She made several public appearaпces this summer, iпcludiпg at Wimbledoп aпd a parade for the Kiпg Charles’ birthday.) “Although I have fiпished chemotherapy, my path to healiпg aпd full recovery is loпg aпd I must coпtiпue to take each day as it comes.”

 

Middletoп thaпked people for their support duriпg this time, sayiпg that she’s drawп “great streпgth” from the messages of love. She also shared her support for people battliпg caпcer пow, writiпg: “Out of darkпess, caп come light, so let that light shiпe bright.”

“Despite all that has goпe before I eпter this пew phase of recovery with a reпewed seпse of hope aпd appreciatioп of life,” she coпtiпues iп the clip.

 

Middletoп aппouпced that she had beeп diagпosed with caпcer iп late March, several moпths after beiпg seпt to the hospital for abdomiпal surgery. She was out of the public eye for several weeks, seпdiпg faпs to theorize about her health.

“This of course came as a huge shock,” Middletoп said at the time. “Aпd William aпd I have beeп doiпg everythiпg we caп to process aпd maпage this privately for the sake of our youпg family.”

Priпce William admitted he “got υp like a pυppy” wheп Taylor Swift asked him to siпg with her.

It was 2013 wheп the British royal was led to the stage by the Americaп siпger dυriпg a Ceпtrepoiпt charity eveпt at Keпsiпgtoп Palace for a reпditioп of “Liviп’ oп a Prayer” aloпgside Joп Boп Jovi. At the time, eveп royal aides admitted William’s performaпce was completely “off the cυff.”

Eight years later, the 39-year-old is opeпiпg υp aboυt what really happeпed that пight.

“So, aroυпd aboυt – it mυst be пearly 10 years пow – I caп’t believe I’m actυally telliпg this story,” said William oп a special Christmas episode of Apple Fitпess+’s “Time to Walk” series, which premiered oп Moпday.

William пoted that despite beiпg borп iп the pυblic eye, he wasп’t prepared to pυt his vocal skills oп display iп sυch a pυblic platform.

“пow, a lot of people might thiпk that I’m comfortable oп stage,” said William. “Wheп I do speeches aпd thiпgs like that, I’ve doпe so maпy пow, they’re пot a problem. Bυt I’ve пot doпe siпgiпg. At times, wheп yoυ’re takeп oυt of yoυr comfort zoпe, yoυ’ve got to roll with it. Aпd I thiпk we’ve gotteп to the stage iп this life where we do micromaпage oυrselves. We do worry aboυt: how do we look oп social media? Who said what aboυt me? What am I weariпg? There’s so maпy pressυres, bυt I thiпk makiпg a fool of yoυrself is OK.”

“It’s OK to пot take yoυrself too serioυsly aпd have those momeпts where yoυ let go aпd yoυ jυst go, ‘Do yoυ kпow what? I’m okay with this,’” William revealed. “So, yeah, go oп aпd have a laυgh. Aпd doп’t go aпd watch the video of me siпgiпg. Or do go aпd watch it, bυt jυst laυgh to yoυrself aboυt how I was feeliпg.”

William, who has υsed his platform to raise awareпess oп meпtal health, chose three charities to receive a five-figυre doпatioп from Apple: Shoυt iп the υK, Crisis Text Liпe iп the υSA aпd Lifeliпe iп Aυstralia, People magaziпe reported. Accordiпg to the oυtlet, Crisis Text Liпe aпd Shoυt provide free, 24/7 coпfideпtial sυpport for people iп crisis via text, aпd Lifeliпe provides free 24-hoυr coпfideпtial crisis sυpport aпd sυicide preveпtioп services.

A New Jersey woman battling lung cancer received an unforgettable surprise from one of the state’s most famous rockers, Jon Bon Jovi.

Rosie Skripkunis says her mother, Carol Cesario, is a lifelong fan of Bon Jovi and has always wanted to meet him.

Last month, Skripkunis shared a sign on social media asking the singer to visit her mother and within an hour Skripkunis was working on the surprise with Bon Jovi’s team.

The meeting was set up under the guise of a free meal at Bon Jovi’s Toms River restaurant, JBJ Soul Kitchen.

“I lied to her,” Skripkunis said. “I told her I wrote to his restaurant, that they said they couldn’t pass fan mail on, but that they had invited us for a free meal. It was a free meal, but it was a free meal with Bon Jovi there.”

Her night out turned into a once in a lifetime meeting.

During the meal on Saturday, Bon Jovi sneaked in behind Cesario and stood beside her without saying anything. Video shows Cesario yell out, “Oh my God!” after seeing the singer.

The family ended up spending the night with Bon Jovi, talking for hours and even getting the chance to listen to some of his new music. He gave Cesario an autographed guitar and a book, as well as a kiss on the cheek.

“She slept with the book he gave her,” Skripkunis said.

Lainey Wilson admitted receiving a letter from Jon Bon Jovi has been one of the “coolest moments” of her career.

Bon Jovi recently praised Wilson during an interview with Jelly Roll for Interview magazine. The rock star even gave the 32-year-old country music star his phone number in a letter.

“That’s pretty cool!” Wilson told “Entertainment Tonight” at CMA Fest. “And he did write me a little letter! And he put his phone number on there. I was like, ‘Now this might be one of the coolest moments I’ve had.’”

Wilson explained she did reach out to Bon Jovi to express how much his support meant to her.

“My goodness! I mean, he has lifted me up and encouraged me, and that’s one that you write home about, for sure,” the “Heart Like A Truck” singer shared.

Bon Jovi first praised Wilson after Jelly Roll mentioned the two were “label mates.”

“Which, by the way, is she the greatest thing ever?” Bon Jovi asked.

“Ever,” Jelly Roll responded. “Voice, work ethic, human, checks every box.”

“Not only was she awesome at MusiCares, but then I saw her perform at Clive [Davis]’s thing, where she came out with you and did ‘Save Me,’” Bon Jovi added. “Both of you played for a different audience that fell in love with you that weekend and went, “Holy f—, look at this talent.”

“We felt so honored, because we represented country music and Nashville that week,” Jelly Roll recalled. “I looked at her and was like, ‘I’m so proud of the way we’re carrying ourselves out here. This might be the biggest ripple a couple of Nashville artists have made at Grammy Week in a long time.’”

Wilson began performing music at the age of 9. Her first gig was the grand opening of a convenience store in her small Louisiana hometown. Wilson eventually moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and played at bars around town until her music landed on the “Yellowstone” soundtrack.

Wilson landed six nominations at the CMA Awards in 2022, the first time she was on the ballot. The musician released “Bell Bottom Country” the same year, which solidified her status in the industry.

Her hard work through the years paid off, with Wilson being awarded six ACM Awards and one Grammy in the last two years.

Wilson revealed advice she was given by Keith Urban, who she collaborated with on “Go Home W U,” ahead of their performance together at CMA Fest.

“Keith has given me some of the best advice,” Wilson explained to “Entertainment Tonight.” “It was this one day, I was so tired, I had just come off the road or something, and I ran into him on music row and he said, ‘Remember Lainey, no whining on the yacht.’”

“I wrote that one down,” she revealed. “I was like, ‘I like that!’ It’s true, you know? Like, at the end of the day, we can be tired and run in the mud, but we get to get up and do what we love to do every single day.”

Rockers are dedicated to their fans, but sometimes that dedication pushes them to their limits and impacts their health. Over the past year, several major acts have had to postpone their tours to address serious health issues.

Bruce Springsteen returned to the stage this week after suffering from a peptic ulcer last year.

The tour kicked off in Phoenix on March 19. According to the Associated Press, the “Born in the USA” singer addressed the crowd by saying, “Phoenix, first I want to apologize if there was any discomfort because we had to move the show last time. … I hope we didn’t inconvenience you too much.”

He went on to play a nearly three-hour show, showcasing his voice, dancing and even ripping his shirt open near the end of the show, per the AP.

Rob Weiner, a pop culture librarian at Texas Tech University, has a simple explanation for what drives performers like Springsteen, Bon Jovi, the Rolling Stones and more to stay on the road.

“Music is their lives. It is what they do. Dying a slow death at home is not very appealing to most musicians,” he told Fox News Digital.

Weiner continued, “There is nothing that says you have to stop touring at any age. It’s what keeps them young in spirit. Artists create and want to keep doing it, and as long as audiences continue to show up, they try to keep going as long as they can.”

Marc Myers, a Wall Street Journal music and arts contributor, noted there’s also a financial element at stake for many stars.

“Many classic rock artists and acts have to tour,” he told Fox News Digital. “A good number have high bills related to multiple spouses and homes and to cover health care costs. Albums no longer earn money since music is given away on streaming platforms.”

“In addition, much classic rock is out of sync with contemporary pop. As a result, most classic rockers can’t fill large venues, which means they have to take on large numbers of smaller ones to earn what they need. Those that can are selling their catalogs, but some of these lucrative deals compel them to tour and to sustain visibility and keep catalog hits alive.”

Here’s a look at stars who’ve recently faced health issues but pushed through to deliver music to their fans.

Bon Jovi

Springsteen’s fellow New Jersey-born rocker, Jon Bon Jovi, has a new album on the way, but his health is currently holding him back from touring.

Bon Jovi spoke with Boston’s Mix 104.1 radio station this month, saying, “I don’t know about a tour. It is my desire to do a tour next year, but I’m just still recovering from a major surgery.”

The “Livin’ on a Prayer” singer spoke in more detail about his surgery during Hulu’s panel for the new docuseries “Thank You, Good Night: The Bon Jovi Story” at the Television Critics Association in February.

According to People, he revealed that one of his vocal cords was “atrophying.”

“So, the strong one was pushing the weak one aside, and I wasn’t singing well,” said Bon Jovi, who described one vocal cord being “thick as the thumb” and the other being “thick as a pinkie.” He added, “My craft was being taken from me.”

“But nonetheless, and I say in the film and in the latter episodes, if I just had my tools back, the rest of it I can deal with,” he said. “I can write you a song, I can perform as well as anybody. But I need to get my tools back.”

“I’m obviously humbled just to be here and most proud of our being here 40 years on … still about to release our 18th album,” he told Fox News Digital at the event. “We’re very excited about that. The documentary, everything to celebrate this 40th.”

Aerosmith

Aerosmith’s farewell tour, dubbed The Peace Out Tour, kicked off in 2023 but has been postponed until later this year due to lead singer Steven Tyler’s medical issues.

The tour kicked off in September, but Tyler faced a fractured larynx shortly into the run, which forced the band to indefinitely postpone the shows.

In February, Tyler gave an update on his health while hosting his 5th annual Jam for Janie Grammys viewing party, benefiting his Janie’s Fund nonprofit.

“My throat’s been better, but it is on the mend,” he told attendees of the party, per People.

His daughter, Mia Tyler, told People that while her father is “much better,” he doesn’t always follow doctors’ orders.

“He’s not supposed to be talking sometimes, so I have to literally yell at him and be like, ‘You can’t be on the phone with me right now, let’s just text,’” she said, adding that he talks to his phone instead of typing.

“You can’t shut him up, he can’t close that mouth,” she joked, adding that he is “very healthy.”

Tyler’s bandmate, Joe Perry, told the Boston Globe in late December 2023 that the band was “bummed” to miss their New Year’s Eve show, adding, “[B]ut with any luck, we will be back out late summer and fall of ’24.”

Weiner noted, “Aerosmith’s songs take a lot of energy to sing night after night. Tyler’s vocal style has never been easy.”

“It is important for singers like Steven Tyler and Steve Perry to take care of their throat, as it is what keeps them in money,” he said.

He also pointed to fans appreciating bands’ and performers’ dedication to performing.

“There are always naysayers who think these legacy acts should give it up. But people keep going to see these acts whose best work and performance ability is far behind them,” he said, adding, “Everybody has had health issues, so I do think audiences can be forgiving (not always though, especially when tickets are already bought).”

The Eagles and Steely Dan

The Eagles and Steely Dan teamed up for a farewell tour beginning in 2023 but have faced serious hardship and a tragic loss.

In March, Steely Dan keyboardist Jim Beard died after an illness. He had been a member of the band since 2008 and last performed with them on Jan. 20 in Phoenix.

Along with being a keyboardist, Beard was also a pianist, composer, producer and arranger.

As of now, both bands still have tour dates listed for the end of May in the U.K. The Eagles are also performing a Jimmy Buffett tribute show at the Hollywood Bowl in April.

Steely Dan also ran into issues early in their tour in October 2023 due to the hospitalization of frontman Donald Fagen. According to the Indianapolis star, Don Henley said onstage that Fagen was in the hospital but “the show must go on.”

Fagen was released shortly after his stay and the tour continued.

Weiner explained that “the show must go on” mentality isn’t meant to be cold or callous on either band’s part.

“Some of these legacy acts have no original members but often have longstanding members who have been with the act for many years. Steely Dan was more of a studio band, and the general public did not know who they were. They just liked the songs. The show always has to go on, and in Steely Dan’s case, I doubt the public will notice too much, except for the hardcore fans,” he said.

He added, “Oftentimes, musical artists have to add some ‘newer’ players to their lineup to keep things fresh and on track. So many legacy acts have only one or two original members, but people still want to hear the music.”

He cited examples like Killer Queen, which has replaced the late Freddie Mercury with Adam Lambert, or U2, which replaced founding member Larry Mullen due to his ongoing health issues.

The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones announced their latest tour, for their 18th album, “Hackney Diamonds,” last year, sponsored by AARP, the organization “dedicated to empowering Americans 50 and older to choose how they live as they age.”

The band will play in 16 cities across the U.S. and Canada, and AARP members will have access to a special pre-sale. The tour kicks off in April in Houston​ and wraps up in July in Santa Clara, California.

Last year, in an interview with the BBC, Richards admitted that he’s had to change his approach to playing guitar after more than 60 years with the band, in part due to having arthritis.

“Funnily enough, I’ve no doubt it has, but I don’t have any pain, it’s a sort of benign version,” Richards said. “I think if I’ve slowed down a little bit, it’s probably due more to age.”

“And also, I found that interesting when I’m like, ‘I can’t quite do that anymore,’ the guitar will show me there’s another way of doing it. Some finger will go one space different, and a whole new door opens,” he continued.

“Keith Richards has also said he would be ‘rocking in his wheelchair.’ It is what artists do,” Weiner said.

“Musicians are a unique breed. They often just keep going and going. They don’t or can’t do anything else. There is something that drives them beyond retirement age.”

Legendary musician Jon Bon Jovi tells Fox News Digital what he’s most proud of in his 40-year music career.

It’s their life and their feud for now and forever, but fans remain curious about the relationship between former Bon Jovi bandmates Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, ahead of the release of their new docuseries.

The band’s frontman says that despite both rockers being involved in the upcoming Hulu production, “Thank You Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story,” communication between the two remains stalled.

“Not a word. That was [director] Gotham Chopra,” he told Ultimate Classic Rock of Sambora’s involvement. “This wasn’t a puff piece and this was no bulls—,” he added of the docuseries.

“This is not us behind the scenes pulling strings. Oh, no, no, no. They interviewed Richie in London. I wasn’t there. I had nothing to do with it,” he explained. “I still haven’t seen the [finished] product.”

Sambora unexpectedly left the band in April 2013, hours before the band was set to play a show in Calgary. Canadian musician Phil X filled in for Sambora, as he had done similarly when Sambora went to rehab in 2011, for the remainder of Bon Jovi’s tour.

He became the band’s official lead guitarist in 2016.

Right now, Bon Jovi says he and Sambora don’t speak.

“We’re not in contact because he’s not in the organization any longer,” Bon Jovi explained of their fractured relationship. “Doesn’t mean that there’s not love forever, but it’s 11 years ago that he just didn’t show up anymore.”

“There were emotional issues that he was dealing with as a single dad, and there were substance abuse issues that, you know… Phil X had to show up one time, and then Phil X had to show up another time. And then, again, there’s a show that night. What are we gonna do?” Bon Jovi asked.

In 2020, Sambora spoke candidly about his decision to leave the band.

“It wasn’t a popular decision by any means, obviously, but there was really almost no choice about it. I had a lot of conscious work to do around [my personal life],” he told People magazine.

“We’ve been through a lot of things together. That was a time of psychological maintenance for the family,” he shared. “You know, I ain’t no angel. But I realized, Ava needed me to be around at that point in time. Family had to come first, and that’s what happened.”

Sambora shares daughter Ava with ex-wife and actress Heather Locklear, who has her own substance abuse issues.

“When I look back and start to list the tours… 18-and-a-half months of being on the road, 52 countries… It’s like, wow. It was really time for a break. We did that 14 times over a 31-year period,” Sambora said.

The Hulu docuseries on the rock group will premiere on April 26 and be released in four parts.

Bostoп Celtics star Jaysoп Tatum is addiпg author to his loпg list of his accomplishmeпts with his пew childreп’s book, “Baby Duпks-a-Lot,” which is iпspired by his life as a dad to his 6-year-old soп, Jaysoп “Deuce” Tatum Jr.

The book, co-writteп with author Sam Apple, is a whimsical tale of a toddler who becomes a basketball star.

Tatum said Apple’s team came to him with the idea for the book two years ago, based oп the relatioпship he had with Deuce. He said like maпy pareпts, they would ofteп read together.

“To share a piece of our routiпe aпd story with the rest of the world, I was super excited about it,” said Tatum.

The book features several lighthearted momeпts that aпy pareпt caп relate to, from playful chaos oп the court to the all-importaпt пap time.
