Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday was cleared to play against the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday, recovering from a right shoulder impingement in time for a 54-point beating. The Celtics defeated the Raptors 125-71 on New Year’s Eve. After the win, Holiday’s facial expression following a reporter’s question went viral on social media.

The reporter started her question by mentioning that the Celtics’ head coach, Joe Mazzulla, discussed his team’s defensive approach. However, perhaps the wording could have been phrased differently, per CLNS Media.

“Coach Mazzulla says he wants this defense to be a little more active… Getting your hands on balls,” the reporter said.

Holiday and she shared a laugh, and he eventually answered the question.

“I think it’s just about being active and using your instincts,” Holiday said. “That’s something I always like to do. Think [about] the game, especially on the defensive end. Be able to get deflections, start the [fast] break, and things like that. So, it’s definitely more fun for me. Being more active.”

Holiday finished with 14 points and four rebounds in his return. Jayson Tatum finished with a team-high 23 points and eight rebounds, leading seven Celtics players in double figures, including Payton Pritchard (19 points), Derrick White (16 points), and Sam Hauser, who scored a dozen. It’s great for the Celtics to have Jrue Holiday back in action.

After beating the Pacers in blowout fashion (142-105), Indiana defeated the Celtics 123-114 two days later. Still, the Celtics bounced back in their matinee against the Raptors.

If Auburn seemed distracted while missing two potential game-winning field goals during the final two minutes of the game, we now know why. Video from the game shows the Longhorn kicker appearing to get distracted by two females from ASU who (purposely?) walked right in front of him as he warmed up before attempting his final kick of regulation time.

Prior to this, Auburn had missed a 48-yard attempt with 1:39 remaining in the fourth quarter. He probably didn’t think he would get another shot at redemption in regulation time, but the Texas defense forced Arizona State to go three-and-out in just 42 seconds, getting the ball back to their offense with 52 seconds remaining.

Despite starting from his own 20, Quinn Ewers managed to take his team all the way down to the Sun Devils’ 19-yard-line, setting up a 38-yard attempt for Auburn. But he missed once again, hooking his kick off the left upright.

 

After blowing so many opportunities to put away the game, Texas finally won it when they intercepted ASU quarterback Sam Leavitt in double overtime to seal the 39-31 victory.

With the win, Texas advances to the Cotton Bowl on January 10, where they will take on the winner of Wednesday’s Sugar Bowl between Oregon and Ohio State.

The city of New Orleans, as well as the rest of the country, is waking up in shock this morning after a deadly and intentional attack on Bourbon Street on the first day of the year.

At least 10 people were killed, and dozens were injured when a driver purposely rammed his pickup truck into a crowd during New Year’s celebrations on Bourbon Street.

A suspect was reportedly “hellbent” on killing as many people as possible as he drove at a high rate of speed, leaving families devastated on the first day of the new year.

After mowing down numerous people, the suspect wasn’t finished as he got out and fired shots into the crowd before officers took him down with their own gunfire.

In the aftermath, many wanted to know if the Sugar Bowl being held in New Orlenas would be postponed.

New Orleans police department superintendent indicated that Wednesday night’s College Football Playoff Sugar Bowl quarterfinal between Georgia and Notre Dame at the Superdome will go on as planned.Police Commissioner Anne Kirkpatrick said officers would work to ensure safety at the Sugar Bowl, per ESPN.

As tourists descended on New Orleans to attend the Sugar Bowl at Caesars Superdome on New Year’s Day, chaos would erupt in the latest act of senseless violence.

At least ten people were killed and 26 injured when a pickup truck intentionally plowed into a crowd.
