Adam Sandler Happy Gilmore 2 Travis KelceTravis Kelce might be trading the football field for the gold course — at least temporarily. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has been cast in Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2 — the sequel to Sandler’s 1996 comedy.

In a conversation with Variety, Kelce revealed how great it was an opportunity for him to work alongside the veteran actor.

“They’re so professional and yet so fun to work with. I felt like I was working with like the Andy Reid of the acting world,” he added. “[Sandler] is every bit as cool off the screen as he is on the screen. That was a dream come true. That was awesome.”

Travis Kelce’s playoff resume speaks for itself, and the Chiefs’ star tight end seems ready to add to it and help the team down the stretch.

    In this story:

A year ago, the Kansas City Chiefs were coming off perhaps their least impressive regular season of the Patrick Mahomes era. In a campaign filled with struggles and inconsistency, the reigning Super Bowl champions looked like anything but a championship contender. On offense, specifically, Mahomes wasn’t quite himself and tight end Travis Kelce had his worst year in nearly a decade.

In the postseason, however, both players came alive. Kelce turned the clock all the way back by hauling in 32 passes on 37 targets for 355 yards and three touchdowns. He capped off his age-34 season by helping propel Kansas City to a Super Bowl LVIII win, prompting the club to set that as the benchmark for his 2024-25 production.

It’s safe to say that 16 regular-season games later, that wasn’t the case. Even on four more receptions this time around, Kelce’s per-catch numbers cratered to a career-low 8.5-yard mark. Despite that, a couple of weeks of rest might be just what the doctor ordered to get the best version of Kelce in January.

The future Hall of Fame tight end certainly believes so. On a recent episode of “The Pat McAfee Show,” Kelce provided a brief update that should terrify whichever teams the Chiefs face in this year’s playoff run.

“I’m fired up, man,” Kelce said. “I’m feeling 22 all over again, baby. Let’s go! Fire me up. I’m ready to rock and roll, man. The biggest thing for me is trusting Coach (Andy) Reid. He’s been doing this a long, long time. When it comes to getting the bye week, we’ve had a few of them over the course of my career. For me, it’s just making sure we put the pads on at least one time throughout the week, make sure we get our physicality in and get that in check, play with some low pad level throughout the week. On top of that, put your feet up, man. Watch some football and get ready for some playoff action.”

Perhaps Week 17’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers is a fair bar to set for Kelce. In that Christmas Day outing, he logged eight receptions for 84 yards and his first touchdown in well over a month. His 10.5 yard-per-touch average was his highest since Week 4 of the season against the Los Angeles Chargers. It was the healthiest and most mobile he’d looked in quite some time.

In the aftermath of that game, Kelce seemed at peace with where his level of play was at late in the year.

“I mean, I’m happy with my role right now,” Kelce said. “I’m out here helping this team win football games. We’ve got a lot of good tight ends, we’ve got a lot of wide receivers that are getting open that are doing great things with the football. Pat’s (Mahomes) playing at his best going into the playoffs. It’s a little bit different than others, but it’s still a blast coming in every single day.”

With Mahomes rested, DeAndre Hopkins implemented into the offense and the Xavier Worthy-Marquise “Hollywood” Brown duo optimized, Kelce has some help. He’s in a perfect spot to add to his postseason legend which, as everyone knows, is already historically elite.

Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce’s 2025 Plans Could Include Big Trip

Taylor Swift broke all sorts of records during her unprecedented near-two-year, five-continent “Eras Tour” concert series. Perhaps the most mind-blowing aspect of the tour is the fact that it reportedly grossed over $2 billion in ticket sales alone across 149 shows.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and recording artist Taylor Swift

According to a previous report by Us Weekly, Swift intends to return on tour again, but plans to work on her new album before planning her next concert series, “albeit on a smaller scale than the ‘Eras Tour‘”.

The “Fortnight” singer, however, is “not committing” to anything as of yet.

“Things can change. A lot of it hinges on what happens over the next year with Travis,” Us Weekly’s source revealed. “She’s told her team to give her one year to see how things go in her personal life.”

According to a new report by Reuters, the couple’s plans this year could include a big trip to China. This is after Shanghai’s culture and tourism bureau director Zhang Qi revealed that they have had preliminary talks with Swift’s camp regarding a potential show in the city.

“As for whether it can take place in the end, we feel that it will have to depend on the market and the attractiveness of the city of Shanghai,” Zhang Qi said. “But we are optimistic that they may be hope this year.”

No further details have been revealed about the planned show, and Swift’s camp has reportedly yet to comment on the same.

As for Kelce, who is scheduled to return to action with the Chiefs on Saturday in a Divisional Round showdown against the Houston Texans, his participation in the said trip will depend on his work schedule.

The NFL offseason will run between mid-February to September, which means that Kelce can potentially join his girlfriend for the trip to China if the show’s schedule falls within those months. He has attended Swift’s international shows in the past, and it’s possible that he will opt to do the same for the concert in Shanghai if and when that happens.

Travis Kelce’s Dream Came True: Teaming Up with Adam Sandler for ‘Happy Gilmore 2’

Travis Kelce Says Working With Adam Sandler on ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Was a ‘Dream Come True’

On a recent episode of “The Pat McAfee Show,” Travis Kelce discussed how exciting it was to work with comedy legend Adam Sandler. Kelce will appear alongside Sandler in Netflix’s “Happy Gilmore 2,” which is set for a 2025 release. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is cast in a currently undisclosed role; in a recently released teaser, he appears to play some sort of country club employee.

“That was a dream come true,” Kelce said, “I thought ‘SNL’ was going to be the peak of my acting and showman or entertainment career. Working with Happy Gilmore himself, the Sandman and Happy Productions, it was off the chain.”

While he is by no means top-billed, Kelce said he has “a few” scenes in the film, and that shooting for “Happy Gilmore 2” was “a hefty load” of work.

“They’re so professional and yet so fun to work with,” Kelce added. “I felt like I was working with like the [Kansas City Chiefs’ coach] Andy Reid of the acting world. [Sandler] is every bit as cool off the screen as he is on the screen. That was a dream come true. That was awesome.”

Outside of Kelce and Sandler, “Happy Gilmore 2” stars Ben Stiller, Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Jacqueline Sophia London, Benny Safdie and Nick Swardson.

While plot details for the sequel remain under wraps, the original “Happy Gilmore” followed a hot-headed hockey player who turns to the world of professional golf to save his grandmother’s home from foreclosure. The 1996 film was directed by Dennis Dugan and grossed $41 million at the global box office against a $12 million budget.

The home is being offered for sale as a ‘development project’ in need of remodeling, along with an additional three acres of clifftop land.

Knight owned the mansion until 2008 when he was forced to sell up due to a succession of legal wrangles, including one involving Kanye West after the 55-year-old claimed he was shot in the leg during a VMA pre-party hosted by the rapper the same year.

The Death Row Records boss had initially listed the home for $6.2m but had to accept a cut-price $4.56m following an order from the bankruptcy court.

After being bought by a German investor, it has been available as a $35,000-a-week rental since 2009 but was listed for sale last week by realtor Dylan Eckhart.

Speaking of the home, he said: ‘This property is, in a word, epic. The panoramic ocean views are spectacular.

‘This is an incredibly rare opportunity for a visionary to create an iconic Malibu masterpiece.’

Knight, who was born in Compton, California, started his career as a security guard for Bobby Brown but struck gold after founding his own record label in 1989.

His first success was Vanilla Ice’s Ice Ice Baby but he is better known for signing then N.W.A stars Dr Dre and The D.O.C to his record company – and allegedly having his associates threaten Eazy-E and N.W.A manager Jerry Heller into releasing them from their contracts.

Other signings included Tupac Shakur, M.C Hammer and Snoop Dogg, although Dre left shortly after the release of 1992’s The Chronic to set up his own label, Aftermath.

Dre is thought to have grown tired of Knight’s gang affiliations, which he never managed to shake – nor his track-record of run-ins with the law.

In 1996, he was suspected of involvement in the deaths of Tupac and arch nemesis Biggie Smalls, which led to Snoop Dogg leaving the label in 1998.

Ten years later, he filed for bankruptcy after Lydia Harris – who helped him found Death Row Records – won a $107m civil claim against him after she said he cheated her out of a 50 per cent stake.

He also served multiple short sentences: probation in 1996 for assaulting two rappers in 1992, then a four-year jail spell for breaching the terms when he and his entourage attacked gang member Orlando Anderson.

Knight was sent back to jail in 2003 for violating his parole by hitting a parking attendant and was accused in January 2008 of being part of the Compton branch of the Mob Street Piru gang.

His current jail term came after he was convicted in 2018 of voluntary manslaughter over the death of his friend Terry Carter in January 2015.

Knight fled the scene and later told police he had run the men over in self-defense. Security footage revealed a different story and he pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter as part of a deal in September 2018.

Bon Jovi’s community restaurant “serves a 3-course meal based on American Regional cuisine,” according to the restaurant’s webpage. The dishes are made with natural and locally sourced ingredients and the menu changes bi-weekly. There are no reservations required. Rather, seating is first come, first served and those in need take priority.

Bon Jovi’s wife, Dorothea Hurley, is his high school sweetheart and shares his passion and vision, also taking part in the foundation’s contributions. “Hunger doesn’t look like what your mind’s eye might imagine. It’s the people at your church. It’s the kids that go to school with your kids. And I think that was eye-opening for a lot of the community here,” Hurley said. “However, by stigmatizing homelessness and poverty, we make it harder for those who are in need of resources to actually gain access to them.”

In 2020, Bon Jovi’s community restaurant opened its third location at Rutgers University. The University’s website estimates that over 75% of the 36,000 undergraduate students receive financial aid. Therefore, many are unable to afford healthy and nutritious meals. “What we realize is that there were kids in colleges that were hungry. We all think it’s a rite of passage to study hard and eat ramen noodles,” Bon Jovi explained, questioning, “How about if it’s the only thing you can afford?”

“We opened our first Soul Kitchen ten years ago in Red Bank, New Jersey, after Super Storm Sandy. And the second one on Toms River, because those were the people most impacted by it.” Bon Jovi recalled, explaining his motivation to help others in need.

    Helping Others is Rewarding

The rockstar explained he “gets sense of fulfillment” from dedicating himself to his foundation and helping others. “I think, when I leave here at night and you see the lives you touch. I have left here, you know, after a long night of volunteering and said, ‘That makes you feel the same kind of good.’ You know?” He added. “And that’s what I say, the way to feel good is to do good, you know? Find your good and do it.”

    Community Support

Bon Jovi’s community restaurant has garnered the support of countless individuals who donate their time to cook and serve or donate food for meals. Instead, almost all the food and labor is donated, according to Hurley. As such, the foundation takes tax-deductible donations to help keep its mission going. The foundation doesn’t only help provide for Bon Jovi’s community restaurant. It also has several partners and works with countless organizations to fight hunger, poverty, homelessness, and mental health disorders.

    Countrywide Partnerships

Although Bon Jovi’s community restaurants are located in New Jersey, his partnerships extend nationwide. For instance, in 2010, the JBJSF partnered with HomeAid Atlanta and Phoenix Pass on the construction of an apartment building operated by a non-profit helping provide long-term housing for families and women with children in Conyers, Georgia.

Furthermore, the JBJ Soul Foundation partnered with Project HOME in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, providing funding for years of support so the homeless in the community can shower and have their laundry done at the Hub of Hope, which also offers social services for those in the process of finding a home and those in need of medical care or recovery services.

    Creating Pathways

The JBJ Soul Foundation partnered with several organizations to provide funding so Joseph’s House of Camden would maintain its current location, providing “pathways out of chronic homelessness.“ The facility provides emergency shelter, food, and on-site mental and social services.

Bon Jovi’s community restaurant isn’t the only avenue the rockstar has taken to help feed others, and in 2015, they worked with NJAHC on a project to create awareness of hunger and poverty, as it impacts an alarmingly high number of Americans. Photographers were asked to capture what “hunger” means to them. Powerful pieces were displayed at press events and a statewide poverty conference.

As the band stepped onto the stage, the energy in the air was palpable. But little did Jon Bon Jovi and his bandmates know, they were about to witness a spectacle that would leave them speechless. In a masterfully coordinated effort, thousands of fans created a stunning visual display that stretched across the entire stadium.

On one side of the venue, fans held up signs forming the iconic American flag—a tribute to the band’s roots in New Jersey and their influence as an American rock powerhouse. On the opposite side, the letters “JOVI” were boldly spelled out, a roaring declaration of admiration for the band. But the surprises didn’t end there. Directly in front of the stage, fans waved Italian flags, interwoven with letters spelling out the heartfelt message: “THIS IS ITALY – WELCOME BACK!”

For Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, David Bryan, and Tico Torres, the moment was nothing short of awe-inspiring. The synchronized effort was not just a visual masterpiece; it was an emotional connection that bridged continents and cultures. Italy had welcomed Bon Jovi back not just as rock icons but as family.

Songs like Livin’ on a Prayer and Wanted Dead or Alive felt even more poignant amidst the overwhelming love emanating from the audience. Is Jon Bon Jovi giving love a bad name?

The rocker gave insight into his and wife Dorothea Hurley’s marriage while sharing advice for son Jake Bongiovi and future daughter-in-law Millie Bobby Brown on “Good Morning America” Thursday.

“The magic for me has just been growing together with Dorothea,” the Grammy winner, 62, said — but admitted that “every day is a challenge and a change.”

He added, “But if you’re growing together, hopefully things will work out.”

The singer went on to joke that his 21-year-old son and the “Stranger Things” actress, 20, aren’t “going to listen” to his words of wisdom before tying the knot.

The couple started dating in 2021 and got engaged two years later.

As for Bon Jovi’s own marriage, the songwriter met and fell in love with Hurley, 61, in high school and got married in a Las Vegas elopement.

Since the pair tied the knot in 1989, the musician has not been a “saint” amid “the wonderful clichés of rock stardom” without “being a fool enough to f–k up the home life.”

He confessed as much during an interview with The Independent published Sunday, praising his partner’s “tolerance.”

“[We are] a mutual admiration society and [are] lucky enough to have grown up together,” Bon Jovi said over the weekend.

Notably, he alluded to previous affairs in “Bed of Roses” in 1993.

In addition to Jake, the longtime couple are also the parents of daughter Stephanie, 30, Jesse, 29, and Romeo, 20.
