The Eastern Conference has selected Kristaps Porzinga as its Player of the Week

Kristaps Porzingis, who has been instrumental in leading the Celtics to a perfect record since April 1st thanks to his combination of efficiency and overall power, was selected the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the week ending April 1st.

His absurd shooting splits were a major factor in Porzingis’s award argument. His field goal percentage is an astounding 65.9% and his three-point percentage is an otherworldly 63.6% since April 1. In addition to his 27 points, 12 boards, and 4 assists, Porzingis stuffed the stat sheet in the game against Oklahoma City.

Porzingis has won Player of the Week four times overall, but this is his first time doing so while playing for the Celtics.

Porzingis becomes the fourth Celtic to earn the honor this season, after Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Derrick White. The 2023–2024 Celtics have an unprecedented amount of talent and a team-oriented approach that has allowed them to become the first NBA club with four individual champions.

With Marcus Smart traded tо Memphis by the Washingtоn Wizards fоr Kristaps Pоrzingis, the Bоstоn Celtics have been nearly unstоppable since, gоing 62–16 in league play. The Celtics have made excellent use оf the new weapоn the additiоn оf Pоrzingis has prоvided them due tо his tоwering stature, rim prоtectiоn, and оffensive prоwess reminiscent оf a unicоrn.

Injuries have severely limited Porzingis’s career thus far, which was the primary worry of the Celtics when they dealt for Smart—a fan favorite—to acquire him. Nevertheless, Porzingis has had an exceptionally healthy season, and the Celtics have benefited. He is on track to play in more than 58 games for just the third time in his eight-year NBA career. The Celtics have done a great job of managing Porzingis’ health this season, so he probably could have played more if they needed him.

Even though the Celtics’ final four games are a dress rehearsal for the playoffs, Porzingis might get some playing time to get him ready.

Jon Bon Jovi’s friendship with Bruce Springsteen is a sweet surprise in Hulu’s docuseries Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.

While they’re two of New Jersey’s most famous homegrown talents, how they overlapped early on in the Asbury Park music scene and how their friendship has deepened as they’ve aged is a soul-stirring story in the series. Springsteen, 74, is interviewed in the project, which tells the story of Bon Jovi the band’s 40-plus-year run. The series dips deep into the band’s archives, featuring personal videos, never-before-seen photos and unreleased demos.

Director Gotham Chopra tells Yahoo Entertainment that Springsteen’s inclusion in the docuseries came about because “Jon talked so lovingly about Bruce,” including how, at 17, he covered a Springsteen song with his previous band, the Atlantic City Expressway, and the Boss emerged from the crowd to sing with him. Today, the singers — both Grammy winners and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees — are very close and meet up for 100-mile drives, sans phones with the radio off, to discuss work, life and mortality.

Chopra says Bon Jovi, 62, facilitated Springsteen’s participation in the doc — “and it was amazing for me to sit down with Bruce. He was awesome. He told some great stories.”

As for whether Chopra tried to capture footage of one of their rock star drives, “Yes, I definitely tried to,” he says. “‘Imagine the last scene, Jon,’” with footage of the pair driving together, with viewers getting to hear their intimate exchange. “He was like, ‘Nope, that’s for me and Bruce.’”

Chopra adds, “That’s one of the few times [Bon Jovi] maybe said no” to one of his asks while shooting the project, “and then I think also over time I realized Bruce is such an enormous presence that you almost have to be careful because it quickly can become about Bruce. We [decided], ‘OK, what’s the Bruce [part] that’s relevant to Jon?’”

In the docuseries, Springsteen talked about how “nobody wanted to be associated with New Jersey,” when he was starting out, with his record label trying to market him as a New York-based artist. However, “I just sort of embraced it as my identity” and wrote songs about life in the Garden State. After Born to Run came out in 1975, labels became hot for more acts from New Jersey, paving the way for Bon Jovi.

Bon Jovi said that seeing the E Street Band play in Asbury, as a teen with big dreams, made him think the impossible wasn’t so out of reach.

“Now you could touch the dream — ’cause there it was,” he said in the docuseries. “It wasn’t those pictures on my wall that you think: ‘I aspire to be Led Zeppelin.’ That was way too big for me to fathom. But those guys — who were singing about the highway that was out our window — that made it incredibly possible.”

A teen Bon Jovi was covering “Born to Run” in Asbury in 1979 when Springsteen jumped onstage to sing with him. Springsteen remembered, “[I heard there] was some young kid around here from New Jersey making some kind of noise. That was the first thing I knew about Jon.”

“We’ve become good, deep friends” through the years, Bon Jovi said in the doc. “We can talk openly, honestly, deeply.” Springsteen added that they’ve “become much closer probably as we’ve gotten older here recently.”

As for their drives, they go out of their way to make them happen despite busy schedules with tours and other obligations.

“It means the world to me,” Bon Jovi said.

Travis Kelce couldn’t hide his own amazement over the fact that he won over Taylor Swift on today’s episode of his podcast New Heights.

Kelce and his brother, Jason, had Lil Dicky as a guest on the episode. Dicky asked the brothers how they were doing with all the attention from Swift’s fans. Kelce had nothing but glowing things to say about the experience of being Swift’s boyfriend. “It’s fun,” he began. “I’m having a blast in life, baby, just flying high. Enjoying it all. Bringing new lives into the football world, opening the football world up to new things.”

Dicky then said that he believes Swift and Kelce dating is, “the best thing ever. I love it. Honestly my take on it [is]…I think there’s something that makes everyone feel like the world is kind of like high school where your most popular pop star, beloved musician somehow met your most popular, beloved athlete, and they actually fell in love, and it’s just real. And I don’t know, anyone who hates on it is like, a bitter loser, but I think a lot of people who would expect to hate on it actually love it, and they acknowledge they love it because there’s something so American about it. There’s something just classic about it.”

Kelce replied, “I appreciate that. I don’t know how I did it because she does not—she wasn’t into sports. So I don’t know how the fuck I did it.” Dicky suggested it was because Kelce gave Swift a shout-out on the podcast. Kelce then quipped, “no, I know exactly how I did it.”

Swift didn’t hide the fact that she wasn’t all that interested in football before meeting Kelce during her December Time interview. Swift told the magazine: “Football is awesome, it turns out. I’ve been missing out my whole life.”

She also confirmed it was Kelce talking on New Heights about his failed attempt to give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it during her July Kansas City, Missouri, Eras tour stop that caught her eye. “This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she said. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other. By the time I went to that first game [in September], we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

Jon Bon Jovi made an unexpected appearance this weekend.

On Sunday night, the Bon Jovi frontman, 62, joined Armin van Buuren during his set on the main stage at 2024 Ultra Music Festival in Miami.

“I remember being a little kid and buying this guy’s album,” the Dutch DJ and producer, 47, told the crowd in video footage, before Jon walked onstage in a white T-shirt, jeans and sunglasses, exclaiming: “What up, Ultra?”

The “It’s My Life” artist then began jumping alongside van Buuren as he played his remix of Bon Jovi’s 1992 hit “Keep the Faith,” and then Jon stood on the decks to sing along to the remix, which featured the “Lose the Feeling” artist putting a bombastic kickdrum to the “everybody needs somebody to love” segment of the track.

“Ultra make some noise for this legend Mr. Jon Bon Jovi!” van Buuren screamed mid-song, as the electric song built up and pyro elements took over the performance.

“It’s an incredible honor to remix this track and to share the stage with Jon Bon Jovi, as I’ve been a massive fan for years,” the electronic artist told Billboard in a statement. “This track is different from anything I’ve ever released before, and no better place to first share it with you all than on the Ultra main stage.”

van Buuren commemorated their team-up on Monday with an Instagram post, which featured video footage of him introducing the rocker and them behind the decks, a photo of the duo standing behind the decks and an image of the pair in front of a high-rise in Miami.

“Can’t actually believe this happened! Thank you so much @jonbonjovi from @bonjovi for coming on stage with me to play my remix of ‘Keep The Faith’ 🙏 I’ll forever remember this moment!” the “Sucker for Love” performer captioned the post.

As Bon Jovi gears up to release its 16th studio album, Legendary, the Grammy winner has been considering whether it is in the best interest of his health to tour again after undergoing vocal cord surgery in 2022.

During a radio interview earlier this month on Mix 104.1 Boston, Jon explained that he’s “still recovering from a major surgery,” but the “goal” is to tour once he’s able to give fans the best show possible.

When asked about his plans to promote the forthcoming LP on the road, he admitted, “I don’t know about a tour. It is my desire to do a tour next year, but I’m just still recovering from a major surgery.”

Bon Jovi‘s Richie Sambora has opened up about his decision to leave the band after 30 years.

The guitarist quit the New Jersey band led by Jon Bon Jovi in 2013 in order to spend more time with his daughter Ava, now 24, his child from his marriage to actor Heather Locklear.

Speaking in a new interview, Sambora talked about his unpopular decision to walk away from Bon Jovi because he was needed at home to deal with some personal issues.

“It wasn’t a popular decision by any means, obviously, but there was really almost no choice about it,” he told People. “I had a lot of conscious work to do around (my personal life).

“We’ve been through a lot of things together. That was a time of psychological maintenance for the family. You know, I ain’t no angel. But I realised, Ava needed me to be around at that point in time. Family had to come first, and that’s what happened.”

Sambora said he was lucky enough to have a private plane that would fly him back home whenever Ava needed him when he was on the road.

“Luckily I was making enough money to be able to have a private plane…and see my kid even if it was only for one day. If it was Halloween, it was boom, home.”

Speaking in an interview back in September, Jon Bon Jovi talked about the pain he felt after Sambora left the band.

“The departure of Richie, the booze and the drugs and that stuff, it broke my heart” he told The Times. “I got through it with a lot of help, talking to people, reading books, and time. Time heals that kind of disappointment.”

The Real Reason Jon Bon Jovi Disliked Sebastian Bach and Axl Rose | I Love Classic Rock Videos

Jon Bon Jovi and Billy Joel live in 2020 – JOELFN / Youtube

The 80s rock scene pulsated with a vibrant energy fueled by both camaraderie and competition. Bands like Mötley Crüe and Poison shared stages and influences, fostering a sense of shared purpose within the hair metal subgenre. However, this era wasn’t without its clashes.

The relentless pursuit of success, coupled with the outsized personalities of some musicians, created a breeding ground for conflict. Insecurity and a thirst for recognition could easily morph into resentment, leading to feuds that spilled out from the recording studio onto the concert stage.

This competitive atmosphere wasn’t always destructive. It could push bands to hone their sound and stage presence, driving innovation and raising the bar for the entire genre. However, when egos clashed and perceived slights festered, the results could be far less positive.

This article digs into the reported reasons behind the friction between Jon Bon Jovi and two other rock icons of the era: Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses and Sebastian Bach of Skid Row. Their stories offer a glimpse into the complex dynamics at play within the 80s rock scene, where the line between friendly competition and bitter rivalry could be razor thin.

A Clash Of Egos And Media Attention

The tension between Axl Rose and Jon Bon Jovi reportedly began in 1987. Guns N’ Roses were on the rise, opening for Alice Cooper. According to reports, Axl took offense after being called a Bon Jovi look-alike, escalating the situation to a physical brawl. This hostility carried over to the next night’s performance, where Axl launched into a rant criticizing Bon Jovi and his music.

Years later, an article seemingly reignited the feud. It reported that Jon Bon Jovi expressed frustration over Axl Rose receiving more media attention despite not releasing a new album in over a decade. Bon Jovi was quoted as saying the press was more fascinated by Axl’s “bad-boy legacy” than his own band’s work. This perceived imbalance in media focus likely contributed to the ongoing tension.

Adding another layer to the complexity, Guns N’ Roses’ music often explored darker themes and featured a rawer sound compared to Bon Jovi’s polished, arena-rock anthems. This difference in musical styles could have further amplified the perceived rivalry between the two bands, representing rival factions within the broad spectrum of 80s rock.

    From Friendship To Frigid Feud

The relationship between Jon Bon Jovi and Sebastian Bach was more complex than a simple rivalry. Bon Jovi actually played a mentor role in Skid Row’s early success. He helped them secure a record deal and took them on tour as an opening act. This initial camaraderie fostered a sense of loyalty and gratitude for Bach.

However, things reportedly soured as Skid Row’s popularity grew. Bach alleged that Bon Jovi became envious when Skid Row’s merchandise outsold Bon Jovi’s at some shows. This perceived shift in power dynamics, from benefactor to competitor, may have significantly strained the relationship. The initial bond of friendship became overshadowed by feelings of insecurity and resentment.

The situation escalated further after a concert, with Bach claiming Bon Jovi’s crew subjected him to a brutal prank. This incident, along with the underlying tension, solidified the animosity between them.

    From Brawls To Reconciliation

Despite the reported animosity, there seems to be a chance encounter that led to a thaw in the relationship between Bon Jovi and Bach. Years later, Bach recounted a story of having dinner with Axl Rose in London when they happened to see Bon Jovi at the same restaurant. Bach, initially hesitant, decided to approach Bon Jovi, and to his surprise, they ended up having a good time together.

This chance meeting suggests that the old feuds may have softened over time. Bach acknowledged Bon Jovi’s role in Skid Row’s early success and expressed gratitude. There haven’t been any reports of further conflict, suggesting a peaceful resolution, at least between Bach and Bon Jovi.

Adding to this hopeful sign, both Bon Jovi and Skid Row continue to tour and perform, even collaborating occasionally. While the details behind the initial conflicts may never be fully known, this apparent reconciliation offers a glimpse of a more mature and understanding dynamic between the two musicians.

    The Legacy Of Rock Rivalries

The reported tensions between Jon Bon Jovi, Axl Rose, and Sebastian Bach highlight the competitive nature of the rock scene. This competitiveness can be a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it can push bands to write better songs, deliver more electrifying performances, and constantly refine their sound.

The 80s rock scene thrived on this energy, with bands like Van Halen and Def Leppard challenging each other to new heights of technical proficiency and showmanship. This competitive spirit can ultimately benefit the fans, who get to experience a wider range of innovative and exciting music.

However, as the stories of Bon Jovi, Axl Rose, and Sebastian Bach illustrate, competition can also morph into destructive animosity. Insecurity, ego clashes, and a thirst for media attention can easily sour relationships and lead to unnecessary feuds.

hese conflicts can distract bands from their creative pursuits and leave fans caught in the middle, forced to choose sides. In the worst cases, rivalries can even lead to violence or sabotage, hindering the overall growth and progress of the genre.
