WATCH: Travis Kelce Celebrates Chiefs’ Win Over Texans with a Surprise $7 Million Proposal to Taylor Swift in Front of Her Parents

Arrowhead Stadium witnessed not just a thrilling Chiefs victory over the Texans, but also one of the most jaw-dropping moments in sports and pop culture history.

Moments after the Chiefs secured their win, star tight end Travis Kelce shocked the crowd and millions watching at home by proposing to pop superstar Taylor Swift right on the field—complete with an engagement ring reportedly worth a staggering $7 million.

In a beautifully orchestrated moment, Kelce dropped to one knee at the 50-yard line, holding a dazzling diamond ring, as Taylor Swift stood beside him in stunned silence.

The stadium erupted in cheers, with fans chanting, “Say yes!” as Taylor’s parents, Andrea and Scott Swift, watched from the sidelines with proud smiles.

“Taylor, you make me a better man every single day, and I can’t imagine my life without you,” Kelce said, his voice trembling with emotion. “Will you marry me?”

The pop icon, visibly moved and teary-eyed, nodded and said, “Yes!” before embracing Kelce as fireworks lit up the Kansas City sky. The couple’s kiss sealed the moment, and the Chiefs’ players and fans erupted into wild celebrations.

Social media immediately went into overdrive, with hashtags like #EngagedInKC and #TaylorAndTravis trending worldwide. Fans praised the proposal as the perfect blend of romance and spectacle.

“Travis just gave us the proposal of the decade! And that ring? It’s giving fairytale,” one fan tweeted.

The custom engagement ring, estimated to be worth $7 million, features a massive diamond centerpiece surrounded by intricate red and gold detailing—a nod to Kelce’s Chiefs roots and their love story.

With Taylor’s parents witnessing the special moment, it’s clear the two families are fully on board with this union. The proposal capped off a magical night for Chiefs Kingdom, cementing Kelce and Swift as one of the most talked-about couples of the decade.

As fans bask in the glow of the Chiefs’ victory and the newly engaged couple’s joy, one thing is certain: this is a night Kansas City—and the world—will never forget.

Travis Kelce feeling ’22’ after delivering best game of season in Chiefs’ playoff win

Kelce put together his best game of the season against the Texans

Travis Kelce delivered his best game of the season in the biggest game of the Kansas City Chiefs’ season to that point.

Kelce had seven catches on eight targets for 117 yards and a touchdown catch. It was the most receiving yards he’s recorded in a single game in the 2024 season as the Chiefs won the game, 23-14, to move to the AFC Championship Game for the seventh straight time.

    Travis Kelce points forward

The star tight end asked how he felt as he spoke to reporters.

“Twenty-two, baby, 22” he said referencing his girlfriend Taylor Swift’s song “22.”

It was the same joke he used when he appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” ahead of the playoffs. He was asked if he felt like he has the energy of a young athlete.

“I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling 22,” he told McAfee earlier this month.

    Travis Kelce runs

Kelce was able to turn back the clock and put retirement rumors to rest for at least one more week.

Kelce faced all kinds of criticism during the season, with accusations flying about him being washed up or spending too much time with his girlfriend. He still managed to have 97 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns in 16 games.

Even at age 35, Kelce was healthy for the entire season and only missed Week 18 as the Chiefs decided to rest their starters, having already wrapped up a bye week. With the whiff of retirement entering the air as the season enters the final stretch, Kelce was asked whether Swift had any thoughts about him calling it a career.

    Travis Kelce celebrates

Kelce said he has support from Swift to keep playing if he wants to.

Travis Kelce Reveals If Taylor Swift Wants Him to Retire From NFL

Travis Kelce shared that Taylor Swift is certainly not pushing for him to retire from the Kansas City Chiefs, saying that she loves to cheer him on and watch him “chasing these dreams.”

Taylor Swift doesn’t necessarily want the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to her.

According to Travis Kelce, the “Karma” singer is not, in fact, encouraging him to hang up his NFL jersey and retire from the Kansas City Chiefs.

“She’s fully encouraging me to enjoy playing this game,” Travis shared on the Stephen A. Smith Show Jan. 15. “She loves coming to Arrowhead and coming to the games and cheering for me so I got all the support in the world to keep chasing these dreams.”

And the NFL tight end believes that having such stability in his personal life—and having Taylor’s support throughout the season—has without a doubt made him a better player this season.

“That’s the beauty of being in a very strong relationship,” Travis explained, “is that you get that support to be able to come in and focus on your craft. Focus on being the best version of you.”

In fact, that was the reason the 35-year-old made sure to attend as many performances of Taylor’s Eras Tour as possible, saying, “I wanted to be at the concerts supporting her and being there for her making sure she feels comfortable and supported in everything she’s doing in life.”

“I think I’m as focused as I’ve ever been on my job and being the best player I can possibly be, week in and week out for this team,” Travis added, “And it’s because I don’t have to worry about things off the field.”

Throughout their relationship, Travis and Taylor have not shied away from very publicly cheering for each other—which Taylor has been incredibly grateful for.

“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves,” the 35-year-old told Time in 2023, “we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care.”

Taylor continued, “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”

July 2023: So, Make the Friendship Bracelets

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s love story began in July 2023, when the singer’s Eras Tour made a stop at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.

As a huge Swiftie, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end caught the show with hopes of giving Taylor a friendship bracelet with his number on it. However, he failed to complete the pass due to her pre-show rituals.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Travis shared on the July 26 episode of his New Heights podcast. “So, I was a little butt-hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”

After publicly recounting his fumble—a move Taylor would later describe as “metal as hell”—Travis decided to shoot his shot and invite the Grammy winner to watch the Chiefs play at Arrowhead Stadium.

“I threw it out there, I threw the ball in her court,” he shared on The Pat McAfee Show. “I told her, you know, ‘I’ve seen you rock the stage in Arrowhead, you might have to come see me rock the stage in Arrowhead and see which one’s a little more lit.’ So, we’ll see what happens in the near future.”

Fact Check: Rumor That Patrick Mahomes Bought Hotel and Fired Employees After Experiencing Racism Is False

    Btuatu.com

    Btuatu.com

After experiencing racial discrimination from a hotel employee, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes bought the hotel and fired the employees who disrespected him.

In January 2025, internet users shared a rumor that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes bought a hotel and fired its employees after experiencing racial discrimination there. (Mahomes is the son of a Black father and a white mother. He told a GQ reporter in 2020 that he identifies as Black.)

Multiple Snopes readers wrote in to ask whether the story was true. The claim also appeared in a Jan. 8, 2025, post (archived) on the Facebook page NFL Playoffs (which is not affiliated with the National Football League), as well as other (archived) posts on Facebook (archived).

    (Facebook page NFL Playoffs)

In short, the rumor about Mahomes buying a hotel was false. It originated as an adaptation of a story about celebrity athlete Shaquille O’Neal that was fictional and possibly generated using artificial intelligence software. There was no credible evidence Mahomes had ever purchased a hotel and then fired its employees.

The NFL Playoffs post on Facebook linked to an article (archived) on the website Btuatu.com, which is affiliated with the NFL Playoffs page, according to that page’s Intro section page. The text of that article began:

On a cool autumn evening, the Royal Beacon Hotel’s lobby gleamed with polished marble floors and soft lighting. Guests in tailored suits and designer dresses glided past, exchanging quiet greetings. Behind the front desk, Marissa, a young receptionist, prided herself on managing the hotel’s elite ambiance. She believed she could spot the right sort of clientele from a distance.

As the clock approached midnight, a tall, broad-shouldered Black man stepped inside, wearing a simple hoodie and jeans. His face was friendly but weary, as if he had come from a long journey. He approached the front desk, and Marissa’s smile tightened, turning polite but guarded. She sized him up, noting his casual clothes. This wasn’t how their usual guests dressed.”

The post on Facebook and the Btuatu.com article each featured a collage of two photos, with the same image on the top of both collages and different images on the bottom. A comparison can be seen below.

(Right: Facebook page NFL Playoffs/Left: Btuatu.com)

The upper photo in both collages appeared to depict Mahomes and three other people in a lobby. Red circles surrounded the heads of the two figures on the far left and right of the photo, at least one of whom appeared to be a security guard or police officer, and a red arrow pointed toward the head of the fourth figure, who appeared to be a hotel employee behind a desk.

The two lower images were real photos that had previously appeared in legitimate news coverage of Mahomes.

The lobby photo, by contrast, showed signs of digital manipulation. For example, visible in the lower right corner of the Btuatu.com version of the upper image was a watermark from Snapedit, a digital photo editing tool described on its website as “AI-powered.”

Another sign the image was manipulated was that Mahomes appeared to have no shadow, as can be seen in the detail below.

    (Facebook page NFL Playoffs)

A reverse image search of the part of the photo featuring Mahomes showed that section of the image was a flipped and cropped version of a photo Mahomes originally posted to his official Instagram account on Oct. 23, 2023. (The photo in question is the second in the carousel; a screenshot is embedded below.)

    (@patrickmahomes on Instagram)

A reverse image search of the lobby photo with Mahomes removed found that a nearly identical photo was the thumbnail image for a 12-minute video by the YouTube account Storytime With Solomon, titled “Racist Hotel Rejects Big Shaq, The Next Day He Returns as the Owner AND …” The only apparent difference was that the YouTube image featured O’Neal instead of Mahomes.

The thumbnail image, a screenshot of which is embedded below, did not appear in the video itself.

    (Storytime With Solomon on YouTube)

The description of that video included the key words “fictional” and “fictional stories.” In other words, the Storytime With Solomon video did not claim to depict or describe real events.

A disclaimer in the description also stated that the video featured “Altered or synthetic content,” noting that “Sound or visuals were significantly edited or digitally generated.”

We submitted the video’s transcript to the AI text detectors GPTZero and Sapling, both of which found a strong likelihood that the text of the story about O’Neal was also a product of artificial intelligence.

The text of the Btuatu.com article about Mahomes was nearly identical to the first five minutes of the Storytime With Solomon video about O’Neal, differing only in that Mahomes’ name appeared in the article where O’Neal’s did in the video. A screenshot of the transcript of the video’s first 36 seconds can be seen below.

    (Storytime With Solomon on YouTube)

The Btuatu.com article did not reproduce the entire story from the Storytime With Solomon video. At a point roughly corresponding to the video’s five-minute time-stamp, the article abruptly switched focus to an apparently unrelated story about Mahomes’ family enjoying a snow day.

To summarize, the claim about Mahomes buying a hotel and firing its employees originated from a partial transcription of a fictional story about O’Neal buying a hotel after experiencing racism, with all instances of O’Neal’s name changed to Mahomes’.

We’ve previously investigated other fictional stories about celebrities that some internet users have mistaken for fact, such as a rumor that rapper Snoop Dogg was denied access to his first-class seat on a flight because he is Black.

When it comes to her beauty look, Brittany Mahomes has entered her “Golden Era.”

One day after Brittany, 29, stepped out to support her husband Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs teammates as they faced off against the Houston Texans in a divisional playoff game, the newly minted mom of three’s makeup artist and hairstylist shared a glimpse of what appears to be her pre-game glam session.

Hairstylist Bex Pichelmann posted a pair of photos on Instagram on Sunday, Jan. 19, showing Brittany posing with her blonde hair styled in soft waves and her face glowing with a flawless makeup look. Pichelmann wrote in the caption, “The Golden Era✨✨✨,” an apparent nod to Brittany and Patrick’s youngest child Golden Raye, who was born on Jan. 12.

“@brittanylynne rides harder for her man more than I know I ever could 😂👸🏼,” the hairstylist continued, seemingly referring to the fact that Brittany attended the game to cheer on Patrick just six days after giving birth to her newborn.

The Kansas City Current co-owner replied in the comments, “Anything for my boy🥹🤍.”

Makeup artist Laurabeth Cabott also shared the same two photos of Brittany on her own Instagram page, writing, “@brittanylynne serving mother and wife of the year. No days off for our queen ❤️‍🔥💅🏼😮‍💨,” and adding the hashtag #gamedayglam.

Brittany commented in response: “No days off😎😎.”

The Chiefs are currently 15-2 this season, having only lost to the Buffalo Bills in November and the Denver Broncos in their final game of the season, in which they rested starters like Kelce and quarterback Patrick Mahomes. They’re on the chase for a three-peat Super Bowl Championship after winning in 2023 and 2024.

The Jan. 18 game marks the first that Swift has attended since Dec. 21 — which was also against the Texans. Her mom, Andrea Swift, joined her to see the Chiefs defeat the team 27-19.

Along with the Chiefs-Texans game this weekend, the Washington Commanders will face the Detroit Lions at their Ford Field on Jan. 18.

On Sunday, Jan. 19, the Los Angeles Rams will play the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in Penn. Later that evening, the Baltimore Ravens will take on the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium.

Kelce, 35, confirmed that Swift would be at the Jan. 18 game while on The Pat McAfee Show. “Is there going to be an aura in that place, a little bit extra? You know what we’re talking about,” the host teased, without mentioning the “Cruel Summer” singer by name.

“Oh yeah, you know it, baby,” Kelce said during the Jan. 13 episode. “It’s playoff football, man.”

McAfee, 37, also mentioned that Swift’s got a solid track record for attending Chiefs’ games. Of the 20 she’s attended, Kelce’s team only lost three games.

“She rolls into that stadium, I just want to let you know what live bettors do. They see her walk into that stadium and immediately open the phone, like, ‘Yup, Chiefs are about to win.’ That is just literally the feel,” McAfee said.

Andrea, 67, for her part, kept warm in a black and gray winter coat, while Scott, 72, wore a dark blazer, a light blue button-up shirt and khaki pants.

Taylor’s longtime friend Ashley Avignone also joined the trio during the outing. The designer and stylist was spotted sporting multicolored outwear.

Taylor’s dinner date with her parents and Avignone took place a day before her boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs will go up against the Houston Texans in the NFL playoff game in Kansas City, Mo., on Saturday, Jan. 18.

The “Love Story” musician has become a staple at Kelce’s home games — ever since they started dating in 2023.

Taylor last attended the Chiefs’ Dec. 21 matchup, when they won 27-19 against the Texans. She wore a long red Charlotte Simone winter coat and black pants, which she paired with a black fur hat, for her game day attire.

Before that, Taylor had not attended an NFL game to support Kelce, 35, since November, due to her record-breaking Eras Tour, which ended with a final show in Vancouver on Dec. 8. (Kelce was playing a game against the Los Angeles Rams that same day.)

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show earlier this week, Kelce stated that Taylor will be in attendance at his playoff game, as the Chiefs attempt to secure their spot in Super Bowl LIX.

“Oh yeah. You know it, baby,” Kelce said, when host Pat McAfee hinted at Taylor’s attendance without naming her. “It’s playoff football, man.”

McAfee, 37, then pointed out that the Chiefs have a very good track record when Taylor goes to their games. Of the 20 she’s attended — including the 2024 Super Bowl — Kansas City has lost just three times.

“She rolls into that stadium, I just want to let you know what live bettors do. They see her walk into that stadium and immediately open the phone, like, ‘Yup, Chiefs are about to win.’ That is just literally the feel,” he explained.

Kelce and the Chiefs will take on the Texans in the AFC Divisional Round on Jan. 18 at 4:30 p.m. EST.

Cue the Reputation (Taylor’s Version) theories because Taylor Swift is looking “so gorgeous” in an all-black ensemble.

Swift, 35, stepped out in style on Friday, January 17, for dinner at New York City hotspot Nobu in a cropped black Area peacoat and a matching miniskirt from the brand, which she paired with color-coordinated Chloé knee-high boots and a Jimmy Choo handbag. The pop star also matched her manicure to the ensemble, painting her nails in a matte charcoal hue.

Swift accessorized her ‘fit — which eagle-eyed social media fans believe matched her OG Reputation color scheme to potentially hint at the next rerecording — with monogrammed Chanel earrings and her signature red lip.

For glam, Swift wore her hair down with side-swept bangs as the locks cascaded off one shoulder while she strutted down the NYC sidewalk.

The 14-time Grammy winner was joined on Friday by her parents, Andrea and Scott, as well as her brother, Austin. The close-knit Swift family also dined with the singer’s friend Ashley Avignone.

Swift’s Big Apple outing took place one day before her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs kick off the divisional playoff round. The reigning Super Bowl champs have a home game against the Houston Texans on Saturday, January 18, for a slot in the upcoming AFC conference championship. Earlier this week, Kelce, 35, teased that Swift would be in attendance.

“You know it, baby,” the tight end quipped on the Pat McAfee Show. “You know it’s playoff football, man. … I’m feeling fired up. I’m ‘feeling 22’ [like Swift’s song] all over again, baby. Let’s go!”

Swift and Kelce have dating since summer 2023, months before she started cheering him on at football games. (Swift even made it to the 2024 Super Bowl last February, dressed in bedazzled Area jeans, a matching corset and “87” jewelry in honor of Kelce’s jersey number.)

“Me and Taylor are happy and I couldn’t be happier to have that confidence and that comfort off the field and all the support I could ever ask for in the stadium,” Kelce gushed on the Wednesday, January 15, episode of the Stephen A. Smith Show. “She loves coming to Arrowhead [Stadium] and coming to the games and cheering for me, so I got all the support in the world to keep chasing these dreams.”

Superstar singer Taylor Swift has a history of sitting with some of the biggest stars while rooting on boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs and the divisional round was no exception. Swift was seen sitting next to WNBA star Caitlin Clark at the Chiefs divisional home game against the Houston Texans.

Clark’s appearance in the Swift suite came not long after the Indiana Fever player revealed the singer invited her to join her at a Chiefs game. After Clark attended the Eras Tour in November, the former first overall pick said Swift left her four bags of merchandise. Swift also invited Clark to join her at a future Chiefs game.

A few months later, Clark took Swift up on her offer.

Here’s a look at the two interacting during the game:

The two were also seen celebrating a big play from Kelce:

At the beginning of the game, Clark and Swift were not seated next to each other, but moved during the action.

Clark is a long-time Chiefs fan and was wearing a red jacket to support the home team.

“I had family in Kansas City, and I grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, which is only three hours from Kansas City,” Clark said recently on “New Heights,” the podcast hosted by Kelce and his brother, Super Bowl champion Jason Kelce’s. “That’s just the closest NFL team.”

“My brother loved Tony Gonzalez,” she said. “We would go to one game a year growing up because my cousin was down in Kansas City.”

The Chiefs are currently up, 20-12, over the Texans as they look for their seventh AFC Championship appearance in as many years. Kansas City is also looking to become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls.

Taylor Swift just turned the hallways at Arrowhead Stadium into her own personal runway!

On Saturday, Jan. 18, the pop star, 35, piled on the Chanel in Kansas City, Mo., to support her boyfriend, NFL tight end Travis Kelce, as he and the rest of the Chiefs went head-to-head with the Houston Texans at Arrowhead Stadium.

For the match-up, the Eras Tour performer wore a full Chanel look from the label’s Resort 2025 show, as first pointed out by Sarah Chapelle of the Taylor Swift Styled Instagram account.

The Grammy winner teamed Chanel’s $9,600 black and white tweed coat with a $4,650 wool jersey romper and $2,250 chain pearl belt. She also wore $1,150 oversize double C Chanel disc earrings and a $5,000 Chanel mini flap bag.

Swift has made her mark as a fashionable fixture at several Chiefs games this season, stepping out in red-themed looks in a nod to the team’s signature color. On Saturday, Dec. 21, the singer stopped by Arrowhead Stadium wearing a long red Charlotte Simone winter coat and black pants, which she paired with a black faux fur hat to keep warm in the Missouri cold.

In November, Swift attended Chiefs games as they faced off against the Buccaneers, Broncos and the Raiders, wearing red outfits to each one. She incorporated designer pieces into her looks, including a tweed Versace look featuring a red-and-black windowpane blazer and matching miniskirt paired with a black corset and a black Versace bag and knee-high Versace boots for the Broncos game.

Her appearance at the first Chiefs-Texans game was the first game she has attended since the end of the Eras Tour, which wrapped in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on Dec. 8 after 21 months. The tour kicked off in Arizona in March 2023 and spanned long enough for Swift to release her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, in April 2024.

During her Dec. 7 show, Swift said the concert series was “the most fun, joyful, exciting, intense, powerful and wonderful tour I have ever done,” per fan footage shared on X (formerly Twitter).

“There’s a reason why this is my longest tour I’ve ever done. I’ve never played this many shows on a tour before, and it’s just ’cause I really never wanted it to end, because you guys have made it into such a wonderful experience for all of us on stage,” she continued.

Kelce has also shown his own support for Swift, throwing his girlfriend a star-studded surprise party in celebration of the end of the Eras Tour as well as the singer’s 35th birthday.

The party was complete with references from the tour, including the faux-cleaning cart the “Cruel Summer” singer used to travel from her dressing room to the stage, the “22” hat usually given to a lucky fan each performance, the green capes Swift wore while performing her Evermore track “Willow” and even the friendship bracelets made and worn by many of the audience members.
