Jayson Tatum reveals meaning of his tattoos to Jimmy Kimmel

Jayson Tatum appears on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Tuesday, January 21.Jayson Tatum appears on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Tuesday, January 21. ABC
Some of Jayson Tatum’s tattoos are pretty self-explanatory. There’s the tattoo of his mom and his younger self on his left calf, the tattoo of his son Deuce’s name on his left arm, and a tattoo of himself winning an NBA championship on his back.

Some of Tatum’s other ink requires explaining, however, which the Celtics star was happy to do during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Tuesday.

The most complex of Tatum’s tattoos in terms of cultural references might be the “LIFE” tattoo on his left leg.

“Tattoos, for me, are like storytelling,” Tatum told Kimmel. “‘Life’ is my favorite movie of all time, with Martin Lawrence and Eddie Murphy. So I put the word Life, and then inside of it are my favorite characters from other movies.”

Inside each letter of “LIFE” are, in order, Denzel Washington in “John Q.,” Will Smith in “Hitch,” Wesley Snipes in “White Men Can’t Jump,” and Dashiell “Dash” Parr from “The Incredibles.”

Kimmel got a kick out of the image of a puffy-faced Smith in particular, which comes from a scene in which Smith’s professional matchmaker Alex “Hitch” Hitchens suffers an allergic reaction while on a date.

“I think it’s just organic,” Tatum said. “Everybody’s that has seen that movie remembers that scene.”

Tatum and Kimmel also discussed the forward’s serpentine “24” tattoo, which Tatum got in honor of “Black Mamba” Kobe Bryant.

Tatum idolized Bryant growing up, and after meeting Bryant as a child, he reconnected with him once he began playing in the NBA.

“I remember the first time we worked out, he asked me a question,” Tatum said. “He was like, ‘How much does it mean to you?’. That was such a powerful thing, because you think about all the things that you sacrifice, and how hard he worked to perfect his craft. How much does it mean to be one of the greatest?”

Jayson Tatum may be an NBA star, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t get nervous around basketball legends like Michael Jordan.

During an appearance on the Tuesday, Jan. 21 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the Boston Celtics player, 26, recalled an embarrassing moment he experienced while meeting Jordan, 61, in 2019 when he signed with the Jordan brand. Tatum was in Los Angeles this week as the Celtics play the Clippers on Wednesday, Jan. 22.

The athlete explained that the two met in Paris during a retreat the brand would host during summer.

“It was my first introduction to everybody on the team, and it was like a welcome to the family moment,” he said before admitting that he actually “ruined” his experience.

Tatum recalled that the same day he announced his signing with the brand, there was a dinner for everyone that included Jordan, Jordan’s wife Yvette Prieto, and Spike Lee, who were all sitting at one table.

“I was so nervous, my hands were shaking and I go to shake his hand and I knock over his wine glass and I spill it everywhere. I break the glass and I’m speechless,” said Tatum.

According to the five-time NBA All-Star, Jordan didn’t seem fazed by it as he acted “super cool about it.”

“That’s something we laugh about to this day,” admitted the dad of two.

While sharing the story on the 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony podcast last July, Tatum gave further insight into what Jordan said immediately after he spilled the wine glass.

“He’s like, ‘Yo, young fella you’re alright,’ you know what I’m saying? ‘Go sit back down, you good.’… Ever since then, we’ve been locked in and that’s another person I will text [and] I will call,” he said.

Tatum also recalled how Jordan helped him early in his career.

“I remember right before my first time going to the finals. I remember we got to San Francisco, and I called him. I was like ‘Yo like, how’s this going to be? What is it like being in the finals? What should I expect?’ ” he said, noting that the two “talked for a long time.”

“He’s somebody that [will] text me after games and whatever, so I got his name in my phone as Uncle Mike,” Tatum said.

Tatum has played for the Celtics since he was drafted with the third overall pick in 2017. The St. Louis native and the team won the 2024 NBA Finals Championship in June.

Doris Day, a renowned actress of the Hollywood Golden Age, passed away in 2019, at the age of 97.

She was adored both as an actor and a singer, releasing more than 650 songs and starring in over 30 films. Her impact in the industry of film and music continues to inspire years after her passing.

Doris Day, a huge animal lover known for her modesty, rose to fame with the films Pillow Talk, Love Me or Leave Me, and The Man Who Knew Too Much.

She was married four times, and had one child. Her son, Terry Mulcher, whom she welcomed with husband Al Jorden, passed away in 2004 due to cancer.

Sentimental JourneySecret Love, and Que Sera Sera were all inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, and her dedication to animals inspired the establishment of the Doris Day Animal Foundation.

It was representatives of the foundation who shared the news of Doris Day’s passing. They said the cause of death was pneumonia, and that there wouldn’t be burial ceremonies, gravestone, or other forms of public remembrance.

The actress wanted to be cremated, and her loved ones fulfilled her wish.

Bob Bashara, Day’s close friend and manager, said the actress avoided discussing the prospect of funeral because she feared death.

“She didn’t like death, and she couldn’t be with her animals if they had to be put down. She had difficulty accepting death,” he said in an interview.

“I’d say we need to provide for her dogs [after she died], and she’d say, ‘I don’t want to think about it’ and she said, ‘Well, you just take care of them,’” Bashara recalled.

“She had several when her will was written, and she wanted to be sure they were taken care of. She didn’t like to talk about the dogs dying.”

Day contributed to the cause of animal rights by raising $3 million through the auction of over 1,000 personal items. She also played a role in establishing a Texas Horse Rescue and Adoption Center, dedicated to caring for neglected and abandoned horses.

Raised in the Catholic faith, Day embraced Christian Science after marrying producer Martin Melcher. He adopted her son, who took Melcher’s last name. Day “drifted away” from organized religion following Melcher’s passing, but she remained a spiritual person.

“She believed in God, and she thought her voice was God-given,” Bashara said of Day. “She would say, ‘God gave me a voice, and I just used it.’”

This beloved actress retired from the film industry in the 70s’. She, however, returned for two TV shows. Day also hosted her own television talk show Doris Day’s Best Friends, on the Christian Broadcasting Network which ran for a year.

Shock Discovery! He Accidentally Found a Car at the Bottom of the River and Called the Police

In a tragic turn of events, a Russian couple who had been missing for nearly 12 years were finally found in 2017, their car submerged in the River Volga in central Russia.

Ilya Zhirnov, 25, and his girlfriend Kira Cherkasova, 22, disappeared in December 2005, after Ilya borrowed his father’s car to pick up Kira from work.

Despite an extensive search at the time of their disappearance, no trace of the couple or the car was found, and the case was eventually closed due to a lack of evidence. However, their families never gave up hope that Ilya and Kira would one day be found.

Twelve years ago, in the central Russian city of Cheboksary, two young people, ages twenty-five and twenty-two, respectively, named Ilya Zhirnov and Kira Cherkasova, vanished from sight. Until the amateur diver discovered their automobile at the bottom of the river, no one knew what had happened to them.

The police claimed that the car had been submerged for more than ten years.

The discovery came unexpectedly when a local diving enthusiast was exploring the waters near a beach on the Volga River. During his dive, he stumbled upon a car submerged in the river, according to a report by the Daily Mail. The man immediately notified authorities, who recovered the vehicle the following day.

Inside the car, authorities found the bodies of Ilya and Kira, along with their personal documents, including IDs, which confirmed their identities. Investigators believe that the couple likely lost control of the car on an icy road, leading to the tragic accident that sent them into the river. However, the investigation is ongoing to confirm the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

The police identified the two missing people with the use of identity documents that survived the underwater submersion. The diver found two bodies and the young people’s personal items inside the automobile.

Even though this is a heartbreaking discovery, it might provide fresh insight into the case.

As per the police’s first theory, the two lost control of their car on the icy road and ended up in the river without anyone noticing or reporting the mishap to the authorities.

But a lot of people are curious about how long it will take the police to find out for sure what actually happened to the two people. Will this case be opened for further investigation?

Is it possible that this discovery will lead to the discovery of more hints or proof that will shed light on what transpired twelve years ago?

For the time being, it’s unclear what more research will turn up.

But the amateur diver’s finding shows that we shouldn’t give up on finding the answers to the problems we have. For those looking for information in cases of missing people or unsolved crimes, it may represent a major breakthrough.

In the end, this finding ought to cause us to reflect on the people who remain unaccounted for and serve as a reminder that sometimes the solutions are there in front of us.

This discovery brings a heartbreaking end to the years of uncertainty faced by the couple’s families. We extend our deepest sympathies for the tragic loss of these two young lives. May Ilya and Kira rest in peace.

  • BREAKING: Chiefs owner Gracie Hunt’s daughter demands Tom Brady keep quiet and apologize after allegations before the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans game

BREAKING: Chiefs owner Gracie Hunt’s daughter demands Tom Brady keep quiet and apologize after allegations before the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans game

BREAKING: Chiefs owner Gracie Hunt’s daughter demands Tom Brady keep quiet and apologize after allegations before the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans game. If not, Gracie Hunt could file a defamation and libel lawsuit with the NFL and the courts.

The controversy surrounding the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans game has taken an unexpected turn as Gracie Hunt, daughter of Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, has publicly demanded that Tom Brady remain silent and issue an apology following recent allegations.

If Brady fails to comply, Hunt has reportedly threatened legal action, including a defamation and libel lawsuit against the NFL legend. This development has added a new layer of drama to the NFL landscape, drawing attention from fans, analysts, and legal experts alike.

The situation stems from comments or claims made by Brady, though details regarding the exact nature of these allegations remain unclear. Some speculate that Brady’s statements may have involved the Chiefs organization, Gracie Hunt personally, or matters related to the upcoming game against the Houston Texans. Regardless of the specifics, Hunt has taken an assertive stance, making it clear that she believes the allegations are baseless and harmful to her reputation and that of her family.

Legal experts have weighed in on the potential ramifications of a defamation and libel lawsuit. Defamation laws vary across jurisdictions, but generally, to succeed in such a case, the plaintiff must prove that false statements were made, that they were presented as facts rather than opinions, and that they caused reputational harm. Given Brady’s prominence in the sports world and the potential influence of his words, the case could become a high-profile legal battle should Hunt decide to follow through with her threat.

The Kansas City Chiefs organization has yet to release an official statement regarding Hunt’s position, though it is expected that team representatives may address the situation soon. Meanwhile, fans on both sides have taken to social media to voice their opinions, with some supporting Hunt’s demand for accountability while others believe the matter is being blown out of proportion. Many argue that Brady, as a former player and respected figure in the NFL, should be mindful of his statements, especially if they involve potentially damaging claims about others in the league.

For his part, Tom Brady has not yet publicly responded to Hunt’s demand for an apology. Given his experience with media scrutiny throughout his career, it is possible that he may choose to handle the matter privately or issue a statement clarifying his position. However, if he remains silent or refuses to apologize, Hunt’s legal threat could escalate, bringing additional attention and scrutiny to the situation.

The timing of this controversy is particularly significant, as it arises just before the Chiefs’ game against the Texans. With both teams preparing for an important matchup, this off-field dispute could prove to be an unwanted distraction. While the Chiefs will be focused on securing a win, the ongoing legal and media drama could impact team morale and concentration.

The NFL itself may also be drawn into the controversy, especially if a lawsuit is filed. The league has historically taken steps to manage public relations crises and protect the integrity of its brand. Depending on how events unfold, the NFL could choose to intervene, mediate discussions between Hunt and Brady, or issue its own statements regarding appropriate conduct among former and current league members.

This situation highlights the growing influence of social media and public discourse in shaping narratives within professional sports. In the past, disputes like these may have been handled quietly, but in today’s digital age, controversies quickly gain traction, fueling speculation and intensifying public reaction. Whether this matter is resolved privately or escalates into a full legal dispute remains to be seen.

Ultimately, Gracie Hunt’s demand for Tom Brady to keep quiet and apologize underscores the potential consequences of public statements made by influential figures. Whether Brady complies or decides to challenge the claims, the outcome of this controversy will be closely watched by NFL fans, analysts, and legal professionals in the coming days.

‘The View’ hosts rip Snoop Dogg, Nelly for performing at Trump inauguration festivities

‘Donald Trump has not changed. You’ve changed,’ Ana Navarro said

“The View” co-hosts Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin were critical Tuesday of Black artists like Nelly and Snoop Dogg who performed at President Donald Trump’s inauguration festivities.

In the days before Trump was inaugurated on Monday, his supporters celebrated at several events across the nation’s capital. One celebration was the Crypto Ball, which was hosted by incoming White House AI and “Crypto Czar” David Sacks and featured a performance by Snoop Dogg.

“The thing that really, I think, was spotlighting Snoop is because of the things that Snoop Dogg said 10 days before the [Trump] inaugural in 2017,” Navarro said. “And so, look, if you opposed and stood up against Trump in 2017, but you were there now, if you spoke up against Trump Jan. 7th, 2021, but you were there now applauding him like a trained seal… Donald Trump has not changed. You’ve changed.”

    Ana Navarro speaks

In January 2017, the rapper posted a video threatening to “roast the f—k” out of any “Uncle Tom a— n—a” who performed for Trump’s inauguration at the time. He also made a video mock-assassinating Trump and suggested calls to make America “great again” is a reference to a time period of segregation.

Earlier in the segment, Hostin played a clip of former Clinton White House aide Keith Boykin, where he had slammed artists performing during Trump’s inauguration. He argued Trump had “attacked Black people” during his time in office and suggested that artists like Nelly and Snoop Dogg “dishonor those people when you go and perform for this man.”

Hostin argued Boykin’s comments were “really important,” and said Americans must remember who Trump truly is.

“This is who Donald Trump is,” she said.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin objected to artists being targeted for simply performing at a political event.

“I don’t come for the artists. It’s the same way I felt about Carrie Underwood. I think that people see it as part of American tradition to be part of this. They can issue statements if they want to clarify what their views are on Trump. I don’t like coming for the artists,” she said. “I think if you feel like people need to be boycotting Donald Trump, which I disagree with, I’d go to the politicians.”

President Donald Trump greeted Nelly before his performance at the Liberty Ball, Fox News Digital learned

After facing backlash for agreeing to perform at President Donald Trump’s inaugural ball, and then consequently defending himself, rapper Nelly is looking to the commander in chief to guide and “lift” the nation.

“It was an honor to have performed for the highest office in the greatest nation,” Nelly exclusively told Fox News Digital of his performance on Monday. “Now we look to the president to step up, serve, and lift us all.”

Before taking the stage, Nelly was greeted by President Trump, Vice President JD Vance and their families, a source shared with Fox News Digital.

The rapper, along with other artists, including Jason Aldean and Billy Ray Cyrus, performed at the Liberty Ball following the inauguration. Ahead of his performance, Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., attended the Commander In Chief Ball.

A source said throughout the evening that Nelly took photos with military officers and thanked them for their service. The source had previously disclosed to Fox News Digital that the rapper, who was born on a military base, had several family members who served, a sentiment noted in his entrance on stage.

Accompanied by his dancers dressed as Secret Service, Nelly started the show by playing the famous “Hail to the Chief” song, before performing a series of his biggest hits, including “Ride Wit Me” and “Hot in Herre.”

His dancers later wore hats emblazoned with “USA.”

Over the weekend, Nelly faced backlash for his decision to join in the inaugural celebrations. “I’m not doing this for money. I’m doing this ’cause it’s an honor. I respect the office,” the St. Louis native said in a live conversation with fellow rapper, Willie D.

“It don’t matter who is in office. The same way that our men and women, our brothers and sisters who protect this country, have to go to war and have to put their life on the line for whoever [is] in office,” he continued.

“So, if they can put their life on the line for whoever [is] in office, I can damn sure perform for whoever [is] in office.”

The insider told Fox News Digital that in addition to his father, Nelly’s aunts and uncles “all served in the military for our democracy and the right for us all to vote. He has personally stayed away from politics and wouldn’t participate in campaigning for anyone, but this performance is for the highest office,” emphasizing that the 50-year-old considers the performance to be “an honor.”

Following the ball, the source reiterated that while Nelly understood “people’s differing opinions,” he also saw his performance as an opportunity to bring people together and enact change.

During the conversation with Willie D., the singer also spoke directly to his critics, balking at the suggestion that Trump was a White supremacist. “I would ask them to show me where he’s a white supremacist,” Nelly retorted.

Nelly in a white polo shirt and chain necklace with transparent eyeglasses looks to his left on stage

“The politics, for me, is over. He won! He’s the president,” the rapper said. “He’s the commander in chief of what I would like to say is the best country in the world.”

“It is an honor for me to perform for the president of the United States, regardless of who is in office. If President Biden would’ve asked me to perform, I would’ve performed. If Vice President Kamala Harris would’ve won and asked me to perform, I would’ve performed,” he said.

Nelly is set to embark on his worldwide, “Where The Party At Tour” in March.

Travis Kelce refuses to speak about penalties against Texans for hits on Patrick Mahomes as fans rage

‘I’d like to plead the Fifth,’ Kelce said

Any issues with how the Chiefs are officiated? | The Herd

National outrage over questionable penalties called during the Kansas City Chiefs’ playoff game against the Houston Texans made its way to Travis Kelce’s podcast Wednesday, but he stayed on the sidelines of the debate.

After NFL referees called two roughing the passer penalties after hits on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes during Saturday’s divisional round game, Texans players and head coach DeMeco Ryans suggested officials sided with Kansas City. Many fans expressed grievances about the questionable penalties on social media.

Kelce and his brother Jason read some of the outraged tweets during Wendesday’s episode of their podcast, “New Heights,” but Travis refused to speak about the issue.

“I’d like to plead the Fifth,” the tight end said, jokingly referring to his constitutional right to remain silent.

    Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce

Jason described one of the penalties as “completely, absolutely ridiculous.”

“He didn’t even get touched,” Jason said. “I understand why they called it. I just think it was a bad call.”

Travis is one of the few people to remain silent on the matter as the penalties were among the most debated topics in football over the last week.

Mahomes has since defended referees for the penalties multiple times. The quarterback was asked by reporters Wednesday if he believed referees were giving him preferential treatment.

“I don’t feel that way,” Mahomes answered. “At the end of the day, the referees are doing their best to call the game as fair and as proper as they possibly can. And all you can do is go out there and play the game that you love as hard as you can and live with the results. … I think that’s what we preach here in Kansas City.

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce side by side

“You get new referees every year, you get new circumstances and you never can really tell because every play’s different. And that’s what makes the NFL so special. I feel like I’ve just continued to play the game, and I just try to win. And whatever happens kind of happens.”

Mahomes defended the referees Tuesday during a radio interview on 96.5 The Fan.

“I‘ve kind of learned that no matter what happens during the game, something’s going to come out about it if you win and you continue to win. So, I don’t really pay attention to it,” Mahomes said.

“I mean, obviously, I’ve been on both sides of it as far as how I felt the calls were made, but, at the end of the day, man, those guys are doing their best to make the best calls and keep it to where the players are making the plays in the game.

“And that’s what decides the outcome. And obviously there was a call here or there that people didn’t agree with, but, at the same time, I think there was a lot of other plays that really decided the outcome of that football game.”

Head referee Clay Martin explained the calls to a pool reporter after the game, saying one of the controversial calls was a result of “forcible contact to the face mask area,” which warranted a flag. He said there was forcible contact to Mahomes’ “hairline” on another unnecessary roughness call.
