Ed Kelce is recalling the moment he realized Taylor Swift had become a bona fide football fan.
Ahead of his son Travis Kelce’s Super Bowl appearance on Sunday, Feb. 9, the NFL superdad appeared on Australia’s Today show and shared how Swift, 35, impressed him with her NFL knowledge.
After being asked what it’s like to sit next to the pop superstar at Chiefs games, Ed — who conducted the interview from a restaurant in New Orleans, where the big game is set to take place at Caesars Superdome — replied, “She’s learning much more about football. She’s watching football whenever she can.”
He then recounted a game when the pair had an enlightening conversation about the on-field action.
“It was funny, we were sitting at a game and the Chiefs were in the red zone and they had to go for a field goal and I’m sitting there thinking, ‘I hate field goals,’ ” Ed said.
“And Taylor comes back and says, ‘I’ll take the points,’ ” he continued. “And I’m thinking, ‘Look at you. A year ago, you didn’t know a field goal from an extra point and now you’re doing all this football talk.’ So I think she’s enjoying the game.”

Ed went on to praise the “Karma” singer, calling her “a very smart, young lady” and “just a joy to be around.”
He described his son Travis, 35, as being “very happy” with Swift and shared that he looks forward to seeing the couple have an opportunity to spend more time together once the NFL season ends.
“I think we get past the Super Bowl, I think it’s going to be a very good period of time for the two of them without the NFL season, without the Eras tour. Just them alone, really connecting more. And I think that can only be a good thing,” Ed said.
As for a potential wedding between the tight end and the 14-time Grammy winner, Ed — who is also father to retired NFL star Jason Kelce — smoothly skirted the topic. After jokingly scoffing and laughing in response to the question, he teased, “Did you really think I was going to come up with that?”

The Today hosts also pressed Ed about a possible onstage cameo from Swift alongside halftime performer Kendrick Lamar, with whom she collaborated on her 2014 song “Bad Blood.”
“I have no idea,” Ed responded. “I haven’t talked to Taylor this week. I have no idea what her plans are. I would let her publicist talk to you about that.”
While Swift has gone all in on football, Ed had a chance to experience her pop music world when he attended the Eras Tour in Toronto back in November. He was even spotted getting in on one of the tour’s beloved traditions: exchanging friendship bracelets.
A video posted by a fan on TikTok at the time showed the father of two standing with a group of concert-goers before the show at Rogers Centre, with one arm already stacked with colorful bracelets.
“Drowning in bracelets and the show hasn’t even started,” the clip was captioned.
