As fans eagerly await Princess Kate’s return to public life following her cancer diagnosis, the 42-year-old and her husband Prince William’s team is making a major change as they work to fill an important position.

LONDON, ENGLAND - NOVEMBER 21: Prince William, Prince of Wales and Catherine, Princess of Wales attend a ceremonial welcome for The President and the First Lady of the Republic of Korea at Horse Guards Parade on November 21, 2023 in London, England.

The couple’s household put up a listing for a new senior communications officer for the family, explaining that it is a full-time position that will mainly be based at Kensington Palace but will also occasionally include travel to other royal residences, as well as places around the United Kingdom and overseas.

In the official description for the position, the new team member will “lead on communications plans for Their Royal Highnesses’ engagements and support on the delivery of communications strategies to promote their key projects,” while also being expected to respond to media inquiries and be a part of William and Kate’s charity work, among other things, with an emphasis on smooth and discreet handling of sensitive information.

The new job opening comes only months after William and Kate looked for a new correspondence specialist in late June following the public criticism about how Kate’s cancer diagnosis was handled.

Now, as the royal family gears up for Kate’s return to her public duties and she slowly takes on more appearances, such as the Cenotaph in Whitehall for the National Service of Remembrance in November, although it’s not confirmed just yet, it makes sense for there to be a renewed focus on communications.

On Sept. 9, Kate also revealed that she had officially finished her cancer treatment, which made fans of the princess even more excited to see her back in action.

She originally shared the news that she was diagnosed with cancer in March with a personal video, not long after her father-in-law, King Charles III, shared that he was undergoing cancer treatment as well. She underwent “preventative chemotherapy” and assured people that she was doing well, but it didn’t stop the public from worrying.
