Jayson Tatum’s Emotional Tribute: ‘Al Horford Is the Heart & Soul of the Celtics!’ – The Untold Story of Their Brotherhood”
Winning has always been in Al Horford’s DNA. From his time with the Florida Gators up to the Boston Celtics, the veteran surely knows how to be a leader. It’s not hard to see why young stars like Jayson Tatum see him as one of the best leaders in the NBA.
During the Celtics’ win over the Los Angeles Lakers, Horford was doing everything that it took for his squad to win. Whether it’s taking on switches against LeBron James or Luka Doncic to being an effective rebounder, the ex-Florida star could still do it all.
Tatum took notice of this and knew exactly that the veteran was the reason why they won, via Adam Taylor of Heavy Sports.

“Al is one of a kind. He’s the anchor of our defense. The heart and soul of our team. Keeps us emotionally steady. The things that he’s able to provide in year 18 are remarkable. I don’t think that gets talked about enough. Being an intricate part of a championship team in year 18, and we wouldn’t be who we are without him,” he declared.
Despite his age, Horford played 37 minutes for the Celtics. He ended up recording 14 points alongside nine rebounds and four assists. On top of that, his defense made life a living hell for the Lakers. Tatum even furthered his point by pointing out how valuable the Florida alum was to them.
“So, what he brings on the defensive end, we feel comfortable with Al switching and guarding his yard, making it tough…I’m the biggest Al Horford fan there is. I love that guy,” the Celtics superstar concluded.
It’s obvious that Horford learned a lot from his time in Florida and that has carried over to how he treats his Celtics teammates. This year, his alma mater and current team might even have a chance to win it all.
