Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum shared his excitement for the release of NBA 2K25 by posting a picture of his son, Deuce, holding various editions of the game. Tatum is the cover athlete for the title’s standard edition.

Early access for NBA 2K25 began on Sept. 4, with the official release across all major platforms — PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch — set for Sept. 6.

Tatum posted an Instagram photo of Deuce holding five copies of the game, showcasing different editions for PlayStation and Xbox.

In addition to being the cover athlete for the standard edition, Tatum also appears on the NBA 2K25 All-Star Edition alongside two-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson, who is featured on the cover of the NBA 2K25 WNBA Edition.

The Hall of Fame edition features Vince Carter on its cover.

Back in July, Tatum expressed how being the game’s cover athlete fulfilled a lifelong dream.

“It’s an honor to be named a cover athlete for NBA 2K25,” Tatum said in a statement (via NBA.com). “I’ve been playing NBA 2K since I was a kid, and it’s been a dream to one day be on the cover. Even after coming off an NBA championship, it’s humbling to see this come to life.”

Jayson Tatum sees Deuce as a future NBA forward

Jayson Tatum shared his vision for Deuce’s future in the NBA during a conversation with Kiyan Anthony, the son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony.

At just six years old, Deuce is already sparking high hopes from his dad, who envisions him playing a role similar to Tatum’s Celtics teammate, Kristaps Porzingis.

“He’s like a stretch…He’s gonna be a stretch 4,” Tatum told Anthony. “He’s gonna be like a smaller Porzingis.”

Born just six months after Tatum was drafted in 2017, Deuce has often showcased his basketball talent, frequently joining his dad for pregame warm-ups.

Since 2017, Deuce has been a familiar face alongside the Celtics, making appearances at press conferences and key NBA events. He even encourages fans to vote for Celtics players during All-Star Games and had the honor of presenting his dad with the 2022 All-Star ring.

The father-and-son duo shared a memorable moment when the Celtics secured the NBA championship in Game 5 of the 2024 NBA Finals. As confetti fell over TD Garden in Boston, NBA photographer Nat Butler snapped a beautiful shot of the Celtics star holding his son.
